Emplopyee information system using portal

Hi All,
I was just doing some R&D and wanted know if it was possible to develop an employee information system using Portal. I mean having a page where all the details of the employees are present and they can update any information like their contact information on the portal.
Also if it was possible to have an online leave appliction system for employees using Oracle Portal.
Comments are appreicated.
regards,

Oracle Portal can be used to build applications with several technologies e.g :
<LI>Portlet technology either through PL/SQL PDK/Java PDK/JSR-168
<LI>J2EE applications exposed through JSP frontend
<LI>Webforms application created with builtin development tool
<LI>ADF application ...
There may be many more. Pending on your skills (java, pl/sql) you could opt for one of the technologies. I would however choose for APEX if you decide to create your application as a simple Webforms application with the builtin tools in Portal as it offers more functionality.
Thanks,
EJ

  • Sales Information System Performance Transaction MCSI

    Hi,
    We create a few years ago some Sales Information System using structures and tables Snnn. This structures/tables are accessible from transaction MCSI .
    Right now the performance of the access to this information is very bad. We need a lot of time to use this SD Information System.
    What can we do about this? Is it some notes about that, or some best practices?

  • Using general hierarchy of sales information system

    Hi,
    The sales manager uses oftenly the general hierarchy in order to sort the information that could extract from sales information system.
    So, firstly he uses the tranasction MCK1 to create a hierarchy and after that he executes the transaction MCSI in order to extract sales information.
    So my question is, how can use the hierarchy in a abap program? I want to offer the hierarchy as selection parameter.
         Thank for your cooperation
                     Best Regards
                           João Fernandes

    Hi,
    Thank you for your answer but my question has not been answered.
    The hierarchies i am talking are in table MCSHIERK. When i use program RGSEX000 i can not use the hierarchies of table MCSHIERK.
    Can you give me somo more information now?

  • Use of Information systems

    Hi,
    What is the use of Missing part information system list and Missing part list?
    If there are missing parts during availability check for an order, will the system stop processing that order? In such cases, what should we do to overcome this issue?
    Sridharan

    hello Shridharan,
    In the missing parts list you can:
    1.display the missing parts of all orders which have been checked (for collective orders)
    2.check the availability of individual components
    3.filter / sort components
    4.print the missing parts
    5.vary the field selection
    6.The missing parts list is not saved if you exit order processing.
    where as missing part information system is used to display the missing parts list for a selection of materials, or for all materials. You can also restrict your selection of missing parts according to a specific plant, MRP controller or requirements date.
    And if there are any missing parts during availability check of an order system will not stop processing the order.
    hope it's helpful stuff for you.

    Sarfaraz.

  • Use of Logistics Information System

    Hi,
    I would like to know if is advised use Logistic Information System considering that SAP don't give support at all.
    Regards.
    Kleyson Rios.

    Hi Kleyson,
    I would like to know if is advised use Logistic Information System considering that SAP don't give support at all.
    Where did you get the idea that the LIS is not supported anymore?
    Of course it is fully supported in SAP ERP through official maintenance.
    On the other hand SAP recommends you to use a different environment for Reporting than for OLTP, that makes a lot of sense.
    It is true that the LIS functionality has not evolved in many years, because SAP wants you to implement a full blown BI instead of a homegrown Reporting solution in the ERP!

  • Steps to configure R/3 system to Portal implementation

    Hi
    Please provide steps to configure R/3 system to Portal implementation
    when i m opening standard iview in ESS in portal i m getting following runtime error.
      com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to resolve JCO destination name 'SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData' in the SLD. No such JCO destination is defined in the SLD.
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hello Bhupinder Singh,
    To use ESS/MSS services in Portal follow the following Steps
    Maintaining jCo Connections
    Use
    jCo connections are used in iViews to connect directly to a backend. They are delivered with the portal content and must be activated (configured to access a specific system).
    jCo connections have two parts: one with <jCo name>, and the other with suffix <jCo Name>_MetaData. The first one transfers user-specific data within the scenario; the other transfers only the needed metadata. For the jCo with name <jCo name>, SAP Logon Ticket is recommended as an authentication method. For the metadata connection, a user ID and password is needed. A system user created before is sufficient.
    Procedure
    Within this guide we generically describe the step-by-step procedure for an example connection set. Perform all steps for the following jCos:
    u2022     SAP_R3_Financials / SAP_R3_Financials_Metadata
    u2022     SAP_R3_HumanResources / SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
    u2022     SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics / SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaData
    u2022     SAP_R3_Travel / SAP_R3_Travel_MetaData
    u2022     SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics_MetaDataFIN

  • Problem in BW System in Portal..Its urgent.. Please guide

    Hello All,
    Scenario:
    Working in a load balancing landscape
    Requirement:
    Need to create a BW Report iView (which isnt working)
    Problem / Questions:
    1. Created a BW System in portal but since its load balancing, please confirm if this is all right:
    - Using Logon Tickets Name
    - Group = ?group?
    - Message Server = ?server?:?port?
    - SID = ?r3name?
    - Server Port = blank
    - SAP Client = blank
    - System Type = SAP_BW
    - WAS Host = ?server?:?port?
    - WAS Protocol = http
    - User Mapping Type = admin
    2. Tested the connection and the WAS & Connector Tests fail.
    3. When I preview the SAP BW Report iView, get a prompt error saying
    " session management will not work!
    Please check the DSM log file for details.
    you can turnoff this alert ..... "
    Now, Ive seen many posts which show how can I disable this prompt message but it would not solve the problem. On clicking on "ok" from the above mentioned prompt, I get an error saying "Page cannot be displayed"..
    Please guide.....
    Its kinda urgent....
    Awaiting Reply.
    Thanks and Warm Regards,
    Ritu

    Hi,
    Do the following:
    <b>1. Property Category : Connector</b>
    <b>Group</b> -> You can check this from the SAP Logon Pad. Click on groups and then click on generate list.
    <b>Logical System Name</b> -> <SID>CLNT<Client Number>
    <b>Message Server</b> -> You can also find the message server from the SAP Logon Pad or ask the BASIS team. On SAP Logon Pad, click on groups -> You can see the servers in the group.
    <b>Remote Host Type</b> -> 3
    <b>SAP Client</b> -> You can get this from SAP Logon Pad or contact the BASIS team. A system can have many clients to be particular.
    <b>SID</b> -> System ID of your BW system. This would also be available from SAP Logon Pad or contact the BASIS team for information
    <b>Server Port</b> = The server port would be 80<System Number> i.e. 8000 if the system number is 00 and 8001 if system number is 01
    <b>System Type</b> -> SAP_BW
    <b>2. Property Category : ITS</b>
    <b>ITS Host Name</b> -> If it's WAS6.40 and above, it would be an integrated ITS which means the ITS hostname is same as your BW System Host Name. i.e. xxxx.abc.com:80<system number>
    <b>ITS path</b> -> /sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/
    <b>ITS Protocol</b> -> http
    <b>3. Property Category : User Management</b>
    <b>Logon Method</b> -> SAPLOGONTICKET
    <b>User Mapping Type</b> -> admin, user
    <b>4. Property Category : WAS</b>
    <b>WAS Host</b> = Fully Qualified Domain Name of BW System : 80<system number>
    <b>WAS Protocol</b> = http
    Check the connection then.
    Cheers,
    Sunil

         public void test(){
              try {
                   Subject tmp = Authentication.authenticate(username, password);
                   //PolicyItem pi = new PolicyItem();
                   //System.out.println("######## " + Authentication.getCurrentSubject().toString());
                   UserIDBuilder builder = new UserIDBuilder();
                   UserID uid = builder.createResourceID();
                   System.out.println("######## Admin ? " + Authentication.isAdministrator(tmp));
                   System.out.println("######## Anonymous ? " + Authentication.isAnonymous(tmp));
                   System.out.println(" ######## " + uid.getUserName());
              } catch (LoginException e) {
                   System.out.println(e.getMessage());
                   //e.printStackTrace();
    }Some println commands above are used to mark in console. I can ensure that there is an user (admin) logged in weblogic system by executing command: Authentication.isAdministrator(tmp);
    Output of codesnipet above is:
    ######## Admin ? true
    ######## Anonymous ? false
    ######## nullMy problem is impossible to use UserID object to get username of weblogic user. Output of command: uid.getUsername() is: null
    Somebody tell me why my code doesn't work though it can authenticate an user.
    Thank in advance.
    ps:
    Some Javadoc for UserID can be found here:

    Hi, Kevin.
    I'm glad to see your response again. I found some interesting information from your recommendation link. At this time, I know that impossible to get users/groups information by using DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade (ref: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15919_01/wlp.1032/e14255/com/bea/portal/tools/ugm/controls/DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade.html) interface.
    But, I dont know how to get an instance of an object that implemented this interface. My friend give me a codesnipet that shown the way to get a DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade by using this codesnipet in a GlobalController:
          try
            DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade delegatedAtnProxyManager = (DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade)getControl(DelegatedAtnProxyManagerControlFacade.class);
          catch (PolicyRefException e)
            reportPolicyRefException(e);
          catch (OperationNotSupportedException e)
            reportOperationNotSupportedException(e);
          }But I dont know what global.GlobalController actually is ?
    I've asked Google for information but I got nothing. Do you know any documentation that describes about this controller ?
    Thanks, regards !

  • Copying portal prod system onto portal test system

    Hi,
    We are trying to copy portal production system onto portal test system.
    Is there a document to describe how to do it?
    Thanks.

    If you refer to content personalized through Content Administration, e.g. Roles or personalized pages/iviews, you have to create a transport package by using export (production) and import (test) options.
    For export: System Administration > Transport > Transport Packages > Export
    For import: System Administration > Transport > Transport Packages > Import
    I suggest you do that using a ".epa" file

  • Error while reading the PO in the Backend system. Inform system admin

    Hi All,
    We are having a peculiar issue of 'Error while reading the PO in the Backend system. Inform system admin'.
    The P.O is in ordered status in SRM but the same is not getting transferred to backend ECC system.
    No error messages or logs in RZ20, SLG1 any where.
    All programmes like BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP are running fine.
    Tried pushing the P.Os manually using function module (BBP_PD_PO_TRANSFER_EXEC_V2) to backend ECC.
    It was working fine till a week ago and suddenly this problem is coming.
    We had implemented few OSS notes suggested by SAP for the issue of 'shopping carts appearing in sourcing cockpit even after P.O creation' in both development and test system.
    Now this issue is coming up in test system where as development system is working fine.
    Please let us know where to look and how to resolve this issue.
    A quick response would be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Teja

    I am facing the same issue with one PO in the Production system.
    SRM 5.0 , R/3 4.6C Extended classic scenario.
    I checked the status of other PO's created today. I see them in R/3. There is one PO which was created a week back which shows up as "ordered" in SRM but the PO is missing in R/3. When clicked on the details on the web, system throws the error
    Error while reading the PO in the Backend system. Inform system admin.
    Message no. BBP_CF010
    I checked RZ20, SLG1 no errors were found. I checked RFC connection, it was working fine too.
    I tried pushing the PO using the FM BBP_PD_PO_TRANSFER_EXEC, it did not solve the problem.
    In SRM WEBGUI Process PO - Item data -->follow on documents --> PO status is shown as Archived.
    Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Please throw some light on this issue.
