  • How to set threshold level JPG images

    Please I need help with setting the right threshold value for my images. I am new with Photoshop. I need to interpret images consisting of sand oil and water in a glass medium. I need to calculate in pixels the volume of each phase (oil and water) with time. I converted the image to threshold and by default the setting is 128 level. This gives a rather high pixel value for the black background. adjust to other levels like 70 makes the white image more. Does some know how I can determine the correct threshold level to reflect that in the original image?
    Also how can set the threshold value to be the same for all the files (example 600 jpg files).
    Thanks a lot

    Also how can set the threshold value to be the same for all the files (example 600 jpg files).
    Create an action and use batch processing or import your images as a sequence and treat it as a video in the timeline. The rest is unclear. For all intents and purposes setting a threshold is completely arbitrary and factors like the color of the sand or whatever can influence it since e.g. red sand will naturally accentuate the red channel more than green and blue. Come to think of it, your methodology is rather unscientific in the first place, but providing one of your images as a sample reference might help people to be able to advise...

  • Enable logging for FTP server in 10.8

    Can't figure out how to enable 10.6-style logging for FTP server in 10.8. It used to be configurable via Server Admin allowing you to choose what to log and so on and the logs would go to /Library/Logs. Now I only see some irrelevant stuff in /var/log/system.log and I want to have all the transfers logged on this server. Tried setting parameters via serveradmin ftp:setting = param but it wouldn't appear in the list afterwards no matter what (just copied those off a working 10.6 server).
    As a bonus, I can't figure out where the settings for logging are stored in a 10.6 server either. There's certainly not a mention of a file named FTP.transfer.log. Weird!

    So to help anyone who finds themselves in the same boat and wants to enable ftpd logging on OSX 10.8 proper:
    All operations assume root which is obtained by issuing 'sudo su' or just prefixing every command with 'sudo'.
    First you edit the ftpd's launchd plist file:
    pico /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.a pple.ftpserver.plist
    Find the section titled 'ProgramArguments'. Amend it so it looks like this:
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
            <array>
                    <string>ftpd</string>
                    <string>-ll</string>
                    <string>-r</string>
                    <string>-n</string>
                    <string>-d</string>
                    <string>-c</string>
                    <string>/Library/Server/FTP/Config</string>
                    <string>-L</string>
                    <string>/var/log/ftpd.log</string>
            </array>
    Second you edit /etc/asl.conf. This is necessary to make '-d' (debug) switch work since by default syslog won't log any debug-level messages at all.
    pico /etc/asl.conf
    At the end of the file add the following:
    # ftpd verbose logging
    ? [= Facility ftp] [<= Level debug] file /var/log/ftpdv.log
    Third important step is to reboot the server. ftpd's plist configuration is cached somewhere so restarting just the ftp server alone won't work.
    Now what the added switches do:
    -ll enables some logging (PUT and GET commands only despite what the man pages leads you to believe) to a file specified later by -L /path/to/file
    -d enables debug mode which logs everything - including server's response. May be too verbose but at least you get a log of every single command issued to the server by your clients.

  • How to enable log4j logging on Infoview and CMC on JBoss Appln Server?

    Hi
    I have enabled log4j logging on Web Intelligence (For Analytical Reporting Application). Can anybody help me in enabling logging for CMC and Infoview.
    Please refer to the below link for more details on Logging in JBoss AS.

    If you have the EM (Enterprise Manager) installed on your stand alone WLS (which you should) you can select the managed server your app is running on, select the 'Log Configuration' menu and you should see almost the same representation an in jdev.

  • How to write to windows event logs from determinations-server under IIS

    This is just an FYI technical bit of information I wish someone had shared with me before I started trying to write OPA errors to the windows event log... Most problems writing to the windows event log from log4net occur because of permissions. Some problems are because determinations-server does not have permissions to create some registry entries. Some problems cannot be resolved unless specific registry entry permissions are actually changed. We had very little consistency with the needed changes across our servers, but some combination of the following would always get the logging to the windows event log working.
    To see log4net errors as log4net attempts to utilize the windows event log, temporarily add the following to the web.config:
    <appSettings>
    <!-- uncomment the following line to send diagnostic messages about the log configuration file to the debug trace.
    Debug trace can be seen when attached to IIS in a debugger, or it can be redirected to a file, see
    http://logging.apache.org/log4net/release/faq.html in the section "How do I enable log4net internal debugging?" -->
    <add key="log4net.Internal.Debug" value="true"/>
    </appSettings>
    <system.diagnostics>
    <trace autoflush="true">
    <listeners>
    <add
    name="textWriterTraceListener"
    type="System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener"
    initializeData="logs/InfoDSLog.txt" />
    </listeners>
    </trace>
    </system.diagnostics>
    To add an appender for the windows event viewer, try the following in the log4net.xml:
    <appender name="EventLogAppender" type="log4net.Appender.EventLogAppender" >
    <param name="ApplicationName" value="OPA" />
    <param name="LogName" value="OPA" />
    <param name="Threshold" value="all" />
    <layout type="log4net.Layout.PatternLayout">
    <conversionPattern value="%date [%thread] %-5level %logger [%property{NDC}] - %message%newline" />
    </layout>
    <filter type="log4net.Filter.LevelRangeFilter">
    <levelMin value="WARN" />
    <levelMax value="FATAL" />
    </filter>
    </appender>
    <root>
    <level value="warn"/>
    <appender-ref ref="EventLogAppender"/>
    </root>
    To put the OPA logs under the Application Event Log group, try this:
    Create an event source under the Application event log in Registry Editor. To do this, follow these steps:
    1.     Click Start, and then click Run.
    2.     In the Open text box, type regedit.
    3.     Locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application
    4.     Right-click the Application subkey, point to New, and then click Key.
    5.     Type OPA for the key name.
    6.     Close Registry Editor.
    To put the OPA logs under a custom OPA Event Log group (as in the demo appender above), try this:
    Create an event log in Registry Editor. To do this, follow these steps:
    1.     Click Start, and then click Run.
    2.     In the Open text box, type regedit.
    3.     Locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog
    4.     Right-click the eventlog subkey, point to New, and then click Key.
    5.     Type OPA for the key name.
    6.     Right-click the new OPA key and add a new DWORD called "MaxSize" and set it to "1400000" which is about 20 Meg in order to keep the log file from getting too large.
    7.     The next steps either help or sometimes cause an error, but you can try these next few steps... If you get an error about a source already existing, then you can delete the key.
    8.     Right-click the OPA subkey, point to New, and then click Key.
    9.     Type OPA for the key name.
    10.     Close Registry Editor.
    You might need to change permissions so OPA can write to the event log in Registry Editor.  If you get permission errors, try following these steps:
    1.     Click Start, and then click Run.
    2.     In the Open text box, type regedit.
    3.     Locate the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog
    4.     Right-click the EventLog key, select Permissions.
    5.     In the dialog that pops up, click Add...
    6.     Click Advanced...
    7.     Click Locations... and select the current machine by name.
    8.     Click Find Now
    9.     Select both the Network user and IIS_IUSERS user and click OK and OK again. (We never did figure out which of those two users was the one that fixed our permission problem.)
    10.     Change the Network user to have Full Control
    11.     Click Apply and OK
    To verify OPA Logging to the windows event logs from Determinations-Server:
    Go to the IIS determinations-server application within Server Manager.
    Under Manage Application -> Browse Application click the http link to pull up the local "Available Services" web page that show the wsdl endpoints.
    Select the /determinations-server/server/soap.asmx?wsdl link
    Go to the URL and remove the "?wsdl" from the end of the url and refresh. This will throw the following error into the logs:
    ERROR Oracle.Determinations.Server.DSServlet [(null)] - Invalid get request: /determinations-server/server/soap.asmx
    That error should show up in the windows event log, OR you can get a message explaining why security stopped you in "logs/InfoDSLog.txt" if you used the web.config settings from above.

  • Where to check/enable for log keeping track of transport rule actions?

    I have implemented some transport rules to "journal" all emails from specific clients as per this
    thread.
    So there are 4 transport rules to capture all those email:
    1. email from Clients (incoming / FROM)
    1.1 from users outside the organization.
    1.2 sent to member of AD Group
    1.3 sent to users inside the organization.
    1.4 where the from address contains "domain of our clients list"
    1.5 BBC to capture mailbox
    2. email to Clients (outgoing/ TO)
    2.1 from member of AD Group
    2.2 from users inside the org
    2.3 sent to users outside the organization.
    2.4 where the to address contains "domain of our clients list"
    2.5 BBC to capture mailbox
    3. email to Clients (outgoing/ CC)
    3.1 from member of AD Group
    3.2 from users inside the org
    3.3 sent to users outside the organization.
    3.4 where the cc address contains "domain of our clients list"
    3.5 BBC to capture mailbox
    4. email to Clients (outgoing/ BCC)
    4.1 from member of AD Group
    4.2 from users inside the org
    4.3 sent to users outside the organization.
    4.4 where the bcc address contains "domain of our clients list"
    4.5 BBC to capture mailbox
    The symptoms are that while I am seeing by selecting random emails that everything seem to run fine (rule filtering from transport does get incoming and outgoing messages to that “capture” mailbox) and I tested this fine with some test emails
    in different domains.
    Somehow I am no getting the results I want. With business sending some test sets I should be finding in that mailbox, I do not find everything. Some of the email that apparently would logically be captured are not. Is business lying about the test sets they
    send? I don’t think so and the fact is that I seem to be missing emails.
    Anyhow my questions to you are the following:
    1.    Do you know of any logging done by the transport server to check on matches of the filters?
    2.    I am using outside and inside condition in the rules. Are they what I think they are?
    I hope you can help. I think I am doing this right, but I cannot verify the process 100%. Some logs or additional information would help. Or perhaps I am not using the conditions properly.
    Thank you in advance.
    and BTW the environment is Exchange 2007

    Based on my research, there is no specific log to match the filters. During the mail flow, only SMTP log and Message Tracking log can record the message information.
    You can check the two logs if needed. For more information, please refer to the following steps.
    Enable Message tracking log
    1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
    2. In the console tree, expand Server Configuration, and select Hub Transport.
    3. In the action pane, click the Properties link that is directly under the server name.
    4. In the Properties page, click the Log Settings tab.
    5. In the Message tracking log section, Select Enable message tracking log to enable message tracking.
    6. Click Apply to save changes and remain in the Properties page, or click OK to save changes and exit the Properties page.
    Enable SMTP Log
    1. In the console tree, expand Organization Configuration, and select Hub Transport.
    2. In the action pane, click on Sender Connectors and right click on send connector and then click on properties.
    3. Select “Verbose” under “Protocol logging level” and then click ok.
    Then, you can find the logs from the following location.
    Collect Message Tracking Log
    On the Exchange server, go to directory “c:\program files\Microsoft\exchange server\TransportRoles\Logs\Message Tracking”
    Collect SMTP log
    Open the folder on the Hub Server,: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\Logs\ProtocolLog\SmtpSend.
    Thanks.

  • User profile images not persisting after log off on Server 2012 R2 RDS Session Hosts

    Hi,
    We have a 2012 R2 remote desktop deployment, with two session collections, a gateway server, and connection broker.
    We have set these session collections to use centralised user profile disks.
    What I am having an issue with, is that when a user sets their profile image through the server they have logged on to (I have the desktop experience pack installed so they are able to do this), they can see the user tile has been set with that image in
    settings and also on the start menu, but as soon as they log off the server and back on, their profile image has been reset to the default blank image.
    I have checked all of my group policy options, and cannot find any settings that could be impacting this.
    Does anyone have any ideas why these images are not persisting for users or admins?
    Thanks, Eds

    Please check that the user is not getting a temporary profile each time he logs in. Also, make sure that the RDP client is properly configured to display the Wallpaper: http://www.webapper.com/blog/index.php/2007/10/18/enabling-desktop-wallpaper-on-remote-desktop-terminal-services/

  • Windows Time Server setting not following group policy

    I hardly use group policy, except for two settings:
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\User Profiles\Exclude directories in roaming profile
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Windows Time Service\Configure Windows NTP Client & Enable Windows NTP Client
    The first setting has worked perfectly for years, but the second one seems to have stopped working, in that the time on client PCs has become out by several minutes. The client PCs are running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
    Following is the result under [TimeProviders] when I run W32TM /query /configuration:
    On the server:

    Can anyone help me to fix this please so that the client PCs sync their time correctly with an NTP server?

    Hi,
    >>but the second one seems to have stopped working, in that the time on client PCs has become out by several minutes. The client PCs are running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
    Does this happen to all clients in our environment? For group policy, we can run command
    gpresult/h gpreport.html with administrative privileges to collect group policy result to have a check. Besides, we can check event logs in Event Viewer to see if some related events were logged.
    Here, we can try to resync time with domain by following the steps described in the article below.

  • Cannot log into OpenDirectory server

    I am running OSX Server 2.2 on a Mac Mini with 10.8.5.  I have successfully enabled Open Directory and created several users that are set up as Services Only, as they do not need home directories, only file sharing and (hopefully in the future) contacts and single sign-on.
    I am able to bind my computer to the OD server using the fully qualified domain name (internal.xxxx.org) and get the green "enabled" dot in the Users page on the Mac.
    I turned on "Allow Network Users to Log In" and tried to log in as my network user, and it "shakes" when I enter the username and password, and won't log in.  What am I doing wrong?  I'm unclear how to log in as a network user from my Mac's sign-in screen.  I also tried using the administrator's account, which is an actual user account on the server and that did not log in either.  It doesn't seem like the Mac is even attempting to check the server for user information.
    Thank you.

    Many Open Directory problems can be resolved by taking the following steps. Test after each one, and back up all data before making any changes.
    1. The OD master must have a static IP address on the local network, not a dynamic address.
    2. You must have a working DNS service, and the server's hostname must match its fully-qualified domain name. To confirm, select the server by name in the sidebar of the Server application window, then select the Overview tab. Click the Edit button on the Host Name line. On the Accessing your Server sheet, Domain Name should be selected. Change the Host Name, if necessary. The server must have at least a three-level name (e.g. "server.yourdomain.com"), and the name must not be in the ".local" top-level domain, which is reserved for Bonjour.
    3. The primary DNS server used by the server must be 127.0.0.1 (that is, itself) unless you're using another server for internal DNS. The only DNS server set on the clients should be the internal one, which they should get from DHCP if applicable.
    4. Follow these instructions to rebuild the Kerberos configuration on the master.
    5. If you use authenticated binding, check the validity of the master's certificate. The common name must match the hostname and domain name. Deselecting and then reselecting the certificate in Server.app has been reported to have an effect in some cases. Otherwise delete all certificates and create new ones.
    6. Unbind and then rebind the clients in the Users & Groups preference pane. Use the fully-qualified domain name of the master.
    7. Reboot the master and the clients.
    8. Don't log in to the server with a network user's account.
    9. Disable any internal firewalls in use, including third-party "security" software.
    10. If you've created any replica servers, delete them.
    11. As a last resort, export all OD users. In the Open Directory pane of Server, delete the OD server. Then recreate it and import the users. Ensure that the UID's are in the 1001+ range.

  • Logging in App Server 7 and App Server 8

    Hi,
    We have an application (servlets/MDBs/EJBs) running in the Sun Application Server 7 that we want to run on the Sun Application Server 8 (J2EE 1.4.2).
    The application has logging facilities with various objects having their own java.util.logging.Logger...
    java.util.logging.Logger m_logger = java.util.logging.Logger.getLogger( "ServletLogger" ) ;
    m_logger.fine( "How do I get this in the App Server log file?" );
    To enable the above logging in App Server 7, I would simply set the global App Server logging level to "FINE" using the admin console. How can I do the same with the App Server 8?
    I've tried using the admin console to set the App Server logging levels to "FINE", but they seem to only effect the App Server itself and not the code it is running. I've also tried adding the following properties in the "Logging Levels" page of the admin console...
    ServletLogger FINE
    ServletLogger.level FINE
    .level FINE
    but they don't seem to make any difference? Any help will be most appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Paul

    Goto the admin console (port 4848 for default domain).
    Click on Topmost Leftmost link -- "Application Server."
    choose the "Logging" Tab.
    Choose the "Log Levels" tab.
    add a new property
             com.company.app.applogger        FINER and in your code, :-
            Logger applogger = Logger.getLogger("com.company.app.applogger "); Now if only I knew how to keep a separate log file for this.

  • Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.

    Multiple users logged into one server, each users printer has a different name, application needs ONE name to print to.
    I'm NOT in any way a Terminal Services expert and I need help trying to get an application program working in a multi-user environment.
    The issue is that the printer changes for every user that is logged in. The application needs to print NOT to the default printer, but to a "special" printer which is selected in the application... let's call it a label printer to simplify the explanation.
    You have your default regular printer, easy for the application to find that one, and then you have a special printer that labels get printed onto. The application needs to know what printer is the label printer. So we allow the user to select that in the
    application and the selection is stored in a config file in
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    I don't have access to the application so I can't change how this works.
    In the "regular" world, selecting the label printer driver to use should be per machine, NOT per user. When a new user logs into a machine, the physical printer doesn't go "poof" and a new printer suddenly appear. Same printer for all
    users.
    Yet in terminal services, the physical machine is "merged" with the virtual machine on the server. And there can be many users logged in at the same time. So each users real machine (and real printer) is injected into the "fake" terminal
    services machine. The name of the printers is made unique for each user. So the printers DO go "poof" and change names depending on the user logged into terminal services.
    So user "A" logs in and sets up the application to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" (or whatever the name of the printer happens to be), that setting is stored in the ProgramData subfolder, and all is well. Later, user "B" logs
    in, and when they print, the application tries to print to "LabelPrinterForUserA" which doesn't exist for user B or is only accessible by user A. If user B re-configures, that breaks it for user A.
    SOLUTION 1: The way that /should/ work (in my mind) is that you define one "generic" printer in Terminal Services... call it "Virtual Label printer" and when the user wants to print to it, the print job gets re-directed back to whatever
    physical printer is actually connected to their local workstation. There is a map of virtual printer to actual printer depending on the current user. The application is told once to print to "Virtual Label Printer" for all users.
    SOLUTION 2: Or... there should be some way to make the ProgramData sub folders separate per user. E.g. when user "A" tries to access:
    C:\ProgramData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    they actually get
    C:\UserData\UserA\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    and user "B" gets
    C:\UserData\UserB\AppData\mfgr\prog\setting files
    So the question I have is: Does either of those solutions exist hidden somewhere in the setup of terminal server? Or is there another way around this issue that I don't know?

    I don't really have a "for sure" answer to this, but because people here can't seem to deal with a question that hasn't been answered I'll provide the best answer I did receive from ServerFault.com user Nathan:
    I can feel your pain with using old software on terminal servers ...the solution I've come up with definitely won't scale as it requires some manual configuration, but I've gotten this method to work with our label printers (which require to be
    printed to an LPT port...yep, that old).
    Share your USB-connected printers to the network on each machine. Then, have the user log in on aunique session for each of them
    (a TS account cannot be shared among computers for this to work) and install a network printer pointing to the USB one they shared. Try to use a DNS name to account for possible DHCP movements.
    After, it should work. Each user can do this since display names can be identical as long as the ports are different (which they are).
    This was clarified by the following series of comments:
    I think you are on to something here, and I originally advised the admin to do this. The problem he ran into is that it setup the printer names in the TS as "printer on usersworkstation"
    and he could not rename it except to change the "printer" to whatever. E.g. the "on userworkstation" remained. I believe there is another way of installing the printer which avoids this, but I can't find it. Ages ago, one used to do NET
    USE LPT2 \\computer\printer password /USER:domain\user /PERSISTENT:YES and then tell the driver to print to LPT2 –  James

    @JamesNewton That's actually the exact method we used. The way around the "network printer" part is to install it as local printer and map it to a TCP/IP port that way. –  Nathan

    You mean in the case where the printers are TCP/IP connected and not local USB / LPT to the users workstation? That makes sense. Wonder if this will work for USB connected printers... –  James

    @JamesNewton You'd share the local printer on the client's PC then on the server connect via TCP/IP to it. You'd need static addresses or use DNS names if DHCP, though. –  Nathan

    Ah. Yes. I see. Looks like the LPT thing should work even with a USB connected printer:superuser.com/questions/182655/… –  James

  • How to find out when 'enable secret' and username secret' was set/changed

    Hi,
    I was wondering if it is possible to find out when 'enable secret' and username secret' was set or changed last time on an IOS based machine.
    Is there any show command or kind of timestamp or MIB which can be read out?
    tnx Ralf

    Probably your syslog server would give you that info.

  • Enable Change logs in tcode

    Hi All,
    I need to enable Change logs in CJ20n as
    it is available in VA02
    CJ20n is an Project System module T-code.
    Please its urgent.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit.

    You can change the setting of the below transaction CJ20n by going to settings->options , where  we have the option to change or display.
    When  you change the setting to  'change' mode then you can open a new project where the option of scheduling can be done for a new project.
    Hope this is what you have asked for.

  • How to reduce transaction log in SQL Server 2000

    Dear All gurus/experts,
    I need your help. The problem is that the time to take to reduce transaction log in SQL server 2000 when I use shrink method. Are there another way to do that beside shrink database (right click : all tasks --> shrink database) ?
    I appreciate your answers. TIA
    Rgds,

    Hi Steve,
    Is this for a test system or a production system?
    For a test system, as per Ad's post, setting the recovery model to simple should do the trick.
    For a production system, I'd recommend you leave the recovery model at full and set up transaction log backups. This will keep the log file at a reasonable size and you will gain point in time recovery (eg if you back up the logs on an hourly basis, you can recover the database to the last log backup, meaning you would never lose more than an hour's work).
    Kind Regards,
    Owen

  • Logging into 'Other' (Server) login doesn't show though bind does

    Working on an OS 10.5.6 Advanced server that was set and users were only using AFP, but no DNS and Open Directory. So carefully went through and set these up.The standard testing 'checkhost' and all, shows DNS is working correctly. Client computers had the DNS pointer changed and went through Dirctory Utility and did the binding. Server indicates these computers are bound. One of four client computers works as expected, "Other" shows as a login choice and can log into the server. All the different client accounts work throught this station. Three computers show as Bind being setup, but the "Other" login simply doesn't appear. All but one are running 10.5.6, with one computer running 10.4.11. All three computers that show as bound, can sign in via Go > to the AFP share(s) just fine, only the server/network login doesn't appear. Have checked everything we can think of and need further suggestions on how to resolve this issue? - Lewis

    LDAP is indeed listed and home folders have been created in an Auto-Mount directory. Everything appears just like the computers on this network that are binding OK and show an "Other" login. Now I have noticed one thing... every so often when I open Directory Utility - it shows the staus as "nonresponding" with a red dot. If I hit "Connect" it changes to a green OK dot, but upon logout/login the "Other" is still not a choice. Ran Disk Repair, Repair Permissions, re-ran the combo updater of the current system - 10.5.6. Ran the unbind on the computer and removed computer from Workgroup manager... still no joy. Just do not see a way to get a reliable Bind and network login? Bind seems to be happening... but "Other" as a network login just doesn't show.
