Enable Sound Check not working on Shuffle

On an iPod Shuffle (4th Gen v 1.0.1) and through iTunes (v 11.0.2) my setting of “Enable Sound Check” isn’t working and, of course, I wish it was. Is there someplace else I should be looking, as I’m only aware that things can be set through iTunes?

I got the same problem....

    Hey Kirby17,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If you are not getting any sound from the speaker, follow this article.
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

  • Enabling "sound check" in ipod nano second generation

I have spent hours trying to figure out how to enable the "sound check" for my second generation ipod nano. I want to adjust all my songs to play at the same sound level, and I think that's the first step. I've followed all the directions I can find.
I find the right screen and select "enable sound check" but the minute I close that screen, the check-mark in the "enable sound check" box goes away. What's the trick for getting it to stay?

    Hi,
I would suggest going to "Preferences" in iTunes first and then going to the "Playback" tab.
Make sure the checkbox with Sound Check is checked. I had read that you must have it checked in the iTunes program so it will then work in the actual iPod when you sync it.
I have a brand new 80 GB Classic and a 2 Gen. 2 GB Nano and I had checked this sound check option on each of the ipods in "Settings" but it never seemed to make any difference.
I was reading the online manual for my new Classic and found that the Sound Check needed to be checked in iTunes for it to work in the iPod.
I did this and iTunes instantly went thru each of my songs in my library and adjusted the volume.
It has worked for me on my Classic but I cannot say if it has on my Nano since I use it for only Podcasts and do not have any music loaded on it. Plus I use a different computer for each of my ipods and have iTunes installed on each.
Hope this may be of help. Check the iTunes software first.

  • My sound does not work on my computer

    Hey
I don't know if anyone can help me but my sound is not working on my computer. I went to my system preferences and when I click on output it says that the device has no output controls. I don't know why it is doing this. Can anyone help me to solve this problem?

    See:
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/No+sound+in+Firefox
    * https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Video+or+audio+does+not+play
You can click the Volume icon on the Windows Taskbar near the clock and click the Mixer link at the bottom to open the mixer.<br />
You can adjust the volume level for each application in that window, so make sure that Firefox is not muted or set at a low level.<br />
Current Firefox versions use the plugin-container process to run plugins, so you need to check the volume setting for the plugin-container process.<br />
You will only see the Firefox program or the Plugin Container in the Mixer if you are on a website that plays sound.

  • My ipad 2 sounds is not working.

My ipad 2 sounds is not working i upgrade it to ios7 nothing seems to be a problem but after a few weeks my ipad sounds is gone. As in all sounds. Whe i use earphone it works. But when the speaker. Not. I tried all the tips that i read here. Nothing works. Please help me. Thanks..

Have you checked the Mute switch on the side ? If it shows orange/red , its ON
Do you have Do-Not-Disturb set on ?  If you can see a quarter moon icon near your battery indicator - its ON.

  • Sound & iCal not working + other questions

Hi, I'm a new mac user and at the moment I have many, many questions...
    1) My sound is not working! I remember it working well last night but when I woke it from its sleep today, it doesn't make a sound anymore, and the F4 & F5 that you can use to adjust the sound don't respond either o_O There's nothing plugged in, when I check the sound panel in system preference, it is set to the maximum, and the mute box is unchecked...however they are both greyed.
    2) My iCal was initially working as well. However when I updated (5 minutes ago), it stopped responding. When I click on the application icon, it jumps in my dock but it doesn't open...
    3) I also tried to install this application named Atomix Dojam X. I had an older version of it, but I deleted it and wanted to install v.X because the older version ran on Mac OS X 9. However, when I downloaded it to my desktop and ran the setup guide, I cannot change the destination (the default destination is Macintosh HD), and even though it says "installation successful" in the end, it does not appear in my application folder nor anywhere else...
    4) I was also wondering...when I updated my real player and msn, I think they were kind of "updated on the spot"...okay that didn't make sense. What I meant was they weren't updated in the application folder. So when I delete the icons on my desktop, the applications stop working as well. Is there a way for me to move those applications to the application folder? I tried, but it denied my attempt because "application cannot be modified"...
    5) My computer has a memory of 640 MB, the processor is 867 MHz. But I'm getting a bit frustrated with the current operating system because everything that Apple offers now requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above. I was wondering if my computer run Panther/Tiger and be as fast as it can operate now?
Sorry, this was a really long post. I will be extremely grateful to anyone who is willing help. Thanks in advance!

    Hi yukinu,
First of all, Welcome to the  Discussion Forums!
What is selected in System Preferences>Sound for your Output? Is it showing "Internal Speakers" and is it selected/highlighted?
    2) My iCal was initially working as well. However when I updated (5 minutes ago), it stopped responding. When I click on the application icon, it jumps in my dock but it doesn't open...
How did you update? Through Software Updater or through Apple Downloads website?
    3) I also tried to install this application named Atomix Dojam X. I had an older version of it, but I deleted it and wanted to install v.X because the older version ran on Mac OS X 9. However, when I downloaded it to my desktop and ran the setup guide, I cannot change the destination (the default destination is Macintosh HD), and even though it says "installation successful" in the end, it does not appear in my application folder nor anywhere else...
Sorry, I don't use the software myself, but have you tried going to their website>support and see if they have any install troubleshooting tips?
    4) I was also wondering...when I updated my real player and msn, I think they were kind of "updated on the spot"...okay that didn't make sense. What I meant was they weren't updated in the application folder. So when I delete the icons on my desktop, the applications stop working as well. Is there a way for me to move those applications to the application folder? I tried, but it denied my attempt because "application cannot be modified"...
I would suggest going to their website, again, and finding the install instructions and follow them for your version of OSX. Not sure what you mean by the "icons on my desktop" that you deleted but I assume you are referring to the downloaded "install" files? How did you know that they weren't "updated" in your applications folder? Did you do a Get Info on the icons for the apps in your Applications folder to check the version after updating?
    5) My computer has a memory of 640 MB, the processor is 867 MHz. But I'm getting a bit frustrated with the current operating system because everything that Apple offers now requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above. I was wondering if my computer run Panther/Tiger and be as fast as it can operate now?
Your PowerBook G4 867 Mhz 640 MB ram installed is more than adequate to run either Panther or Tiger. But, I would try making sure your Disk is ok first before attempting to upgrade the OS since you appear to be having some problems. They are probably not related to disk corruption but you should boot to your install cd and Repair Disk using Disk Utility on the install cd first to make sure.
I would try running both, Permissions Repair from your HD and then booting to your install disk and running Repair Disk anyways to see what errors if any you receive. There will undoubtedly be spurious errors running Repair Permissions but if any that cannot be repaired you should note them along with the errors that cannot be repaired with Disk Utility>Repair Disk from your install cd. You should always run Repair Permissions from your Disk Utility on your HD before and after any software installations to have a smoother/successful update/upgrade.

  • Sound alerts not working in Mail and Ichat apps since upgrade to 10.4.9

I just noticed my Sound alets not working in Mail and Ichat apps since upgrade to 10.4.9.
I'm using soundsticks which is playing sounds thru quicktime, itunes, etc but my alert sounds for getting new emails and IM messages is not working. I get the quick "white flash" on the screen instead. I checked the prefs on both apps and it is set to give me the alert sound, I can even test it in the ichat pref when I change the new message alert sound it will play it thru my speakers but when I get a new message in either app it just gives me the white flash.
I'm read that it can be an issue of not having the balance in the system sound pref set the middle, so I checked that, restarted, all that but still no luck.
I really like the sound alert features because I can be in another part of my house, turn the sound way up and I'll know when one of my clients is trying to reach me but now I can't do that.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Sound control not working on my blue tooth keyboard

sound control not working with my bluetooth keyboard

        UAVPilot,
Thank you for the information. I do show that the device and car are capable of this function. I do not show any reason you should not be hearing the notifications. One thing you will want to check is that the sound for both your notifications and media are turned up. Also you can look into going into Settings>Apps>S voice Drive Mode> Clear Cache. This should clear any possible bugs in the application. Please keep us updated on this and we can check on other options.
    Thank you,

  • Got iPhone 5.  Really Disappointed!  After 2 days, alert and typing sounds are not working.  Camera is terrible!

Bought iPhone 5.  Really disappointed.  Within 2 days, alert sounds and typing sounds are not working.  Camera is terrible.  My old HTC One S was far superior!

First, no, it is not showing orange.  I checked the silent button immediately.  Then I checked the sounds section of my settings, but all is good there.  When I get a phone call, it rings fine.  Alert and typing sounds are not working.
Second..., yes this was a technical point (in which I was hoping someone else might have had the same problem, with a solution), as well as a complaint (definitely one worth making as it is not a minor issue - it is important to hear text alerts when you have children).

  • My sound is not work at any app my ipad 3 gen

aim tried to listen music my sound is not work yesterday was fine i don't get what is the problem
    i need help thanks

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430 It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

  • TS5180 The sound is not working on my Iphone5, what do I do?

Sound is not working on Iphone. Have gone to settings and checked to besure sound is on, etc.

They are giving superficial solution in that post. I think the problem could be software (developers should look into it). I have this problem too, the speaker works with voice memo and ringtone but not with the notifications and apps. Apple is not taking care of this issue and they should resolve it as soon as possible.

  • HP Pro 3125 MT - Windows 7 Enterprise 64. Sound is not working.

HP Pro 3125 MT - Windows 7 64 bit. I've installed the audio driver SP51083 as suggested by HP (here).
As soon as I installed them the sound is not working anymore. The sound card is seen by the control panel, and everything seems to be correct (the system even detect when a jack plug is connected or disconnected to the audio card), but no sound come out from the speakers. I just hear a soft buzz.
I couldn't rollback, so I tried to uninstall drivers and install Realtek ones (here)
    Same result.
Note: speakers are working ( if I plug them to another computer they works witout problems). However even headphones are recognized by the Realtek panel, when connected, but the output is, also in this case, always a buzz.
    Any idea? Thank you.

    Hi:
Did you try uninstalling the entire audio device?
Right click on the device and select uninstall, and check the box that says uninstall drivers. reboot and see what happens.
Then if the audio doesn't automatically install,  you can try manually reinstalling the driver by browing to the installation folder that was created when you extracted the driver.
Click on the audio driver in the device manager. Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver and browse to the driver folder that was created. The HP driver would be found in C:\SWSETUP\sp51083.
If none of that works, maybe someone else has another idea you can try.
When I am confounded by issues like this, I reinstall the OS, applications notwithstanding.
I look at it this way. I can spend hours getting nowhere, or I can bite the bullet and get my PC back up and running. Then I know not to install a program or driver the next time that killed a function of my PC.

  • My sound will not work

My sound will not work when I unplug my headphones.  A red light is also appearing in the headphone jack.

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    Best.

If you lose sound for games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.
