Enabling/disabling flow control on hme0

I found ndd and was able to disable auto-negotiation and set the duplex on hme0 to full but how do I disable/enable flow control on a NIC in Solaris?
Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry for bringing up a very old thread,
After doing
ndd -set /dev/bge1 adv_autoneg_cap 0, will it also take care of pause frames? I found that my server running solaris 10 is asking network switch to PAUSE frames. I do not want server to ask the switch to PAUSE it.
So do i need to set flow control off on server and also set following values to 0 on server or flow control off itself on server will do it for me. flow control is off on switch.

  • Message Flow Control

    Hello,
as I read, WLS provides the possibility to slow down message producers when certain paging thresholds are exceeded. I'm not quite sure, if the slow down of a producer is tied to it's session lifecycle, i.e. if the producer is slowed down only within its current session - or are producers, which are created from a new session, also slowed down right from the start.
It would be great if someone could answer that. Unfortunately I have found nothing about that in the documentation.
              Regards,
              Dirk

    Hello Tom.
First of all, thank you for your quick response. This forum is really working!
I searched for this topic in the documentation, but didn't find anything appropriate explaining the in-depth details of the JMS flow control mechanism. Therefore, I wrote a simple test case (implementation and server configuration is attached at the end of this message) to check the flow control handling for certain conditions. Since there is no API to access the flow control properties of a message producer, I measured the JMS throughput within the test case and tried to derive some conclusions.
              Regarding the server configuration:
              - I configured one JMS Server (Test_JMSServer) with one Queue (TestQueue). I enabled the message paging at server level, starting at 1000 messages (i.e. message threshold high). The lower message threshold was set to 100 messages. As a paging store a file store (TestPagingStore) was used.
              - Message thresholds at destination level was disabled.
              - I further configured a connection factory (TestConnectionFactory) for which I enabled the flow control with a max. throughput of 50 msg/sec and a min. throughput of 1 msg/sec. The flow interval was set to 60 seconds, the number of steps was set to 6.
              Regarding the test case:
There are 3 scenarios within the test case. Within each scenario
              - first all messages are consumed from the queue,
              - then 1000 messages are send to the queue in a row, thereby measuring the throughput,
              - finally again 1000 messages are send to the queue in a row, thereby measuring the throughput.
The scenarios differ in how the bulk-send operation is performed.
              - The first scenario (test_noReuse) creates a new connection for each message to be send.
              - The second scenario (test_sessionReuse) creates a new session at the start and reuses that session for sending the messages. A new sender is created of each message.
              - The third scenario (test_senderReuse) creates a new sender at the start and reuses that sender for sending the messages.
Here are the results of the test:
              ==[test_noReuse]=======================
              Cleaned up <2000> messages.
              Throughput (messages/second): 51 [startMillis=1161249409788;endMillis=1161249429210;messagesSend=1000]
              Throughput (messages/second): 62 [startMillis=1161249429210;endMillis=1161249445304;messagesSend=1000]
              ==[test_sessionReuse]=======================
              Cleaned up <2000> messages.
              Throughput (messages/second): 231 [startMillis=1161249452773;endMillis=1161249457101;messagesSend=1000]
              Throughput (messages/second): 245 [startMillis=1161249457101;endMillis=1161249461179;messagesSend=1000]
              ==[test_senderReuse]=======================
              Cleaned up <2000> messages.
              Throughput (messages/second): 790 [startMillis=1161249467351;endMillis=1161249468616;messagesSend=1000]
              Throughput (messages/second): 1 [startMillis=1161249468616;endMillis=1161249999226;messagesSend=1000]
To me it seems, that reusing a session has no effect on the message flow control if a new sender is created for sending a message. The only scenario where a throttling occurs (at least it seems to be that way) is the last scenario, where the sender is reused for all messages.
So my conclusion is, that message control flow is superfluous to configure, as long as
              - you don't have a small amount of (batch) message producers, each of which reusing a single sender for each message,
              - or you have some cache of senders (or a single sender) in your application and reuse the cached senders for sending messages.
The latter is, of course, strongly discouraged, since neither JMS sessions, nor senders are thread-safe. So you need to implement some thread-safe cache and also have to deal with re-creating stalled JMS resources within that cache -- a really non-trivial implementation. Further, if many different threads produce messages, the flow control has no (or at least few) effect on the message load in the server.
I just ask myself, what the flow control was designed for, since the cases where it really applies are rather rare, IMHO. Or have I made some error in the test or in the server configuration?
              Best regards,
              Dirk

Is there a way to do it?
I need to disable a control's runtime menu while my VI is running and then enable it at other point of time.  All the way, I can make use of the default menu items (Reinitialize to default values, Copy data etc..,) for the control and I don't have any customized menu items.

Thats nice dirty idea.  But it might give my end-user an impression that my application doesn't respond to the given options.  I specifically want to greyout the right-click menu.

  • ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled

I am stuck. I have my stream setup and they were previously working on two of my dev environments well. Now when I get the streams setup the CAPTURE process has a state of "CAPTURING CHANGES" for like 10 seconds and then changes to state "PAUSED FOR FLOW CONTROL". I believe this is happening because the PROPAGATION process is showing an error of "ORA-25307: Enqueue rate too high, flow control enabled".
I don't know what to tweak to get rid of this error message. The two environments are dev databases and there is minimal activity on them so i don't think it's a case of the APPLY process is lagging behind the PROPAGATION process. Has anyone run into this issue?? I've verified my db link works, my stream admin user has dba access. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks, dave

As rule of thumb, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE as long as your are 100% GLOBAL_NAME compliant.
So, setting GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE will not have any effect if your dblink is not global_name compliant
and if your installation is global_name compliant, you don't need to set GLOBAL_NAME=TRUE.
The first thing when you diagnose is to get the exact facts.
Please run this queries both on source and target so that to see what are in the queues and where.
Run it multiple time to see if figures evolves.
    - If they are fixed, then your Streams is stuck in its last stage. As a cheap and good starting point, just stop/start the capture, propagation and target apply process. Check also the alert.log on both site. when you have a propagation problem, they do contains information's. If you have re-bounced everything and no improvement then the real diagnose work must start here but then we know that the message is wrong and the problems is elsewhere.
    - if they are not fixed then your apply really lag behind for what ever good reason, but this is usually easy to find.

    set_item_property(button,enable,property<true/false>);
    ELSIF <condition2>
    set_item_property(button,enable,property<true/false>);

  • Enable/disable report parameter control at runtime in SSRS

    Hi,
I am using SSRS 2012. I want to enable/disable or hide/show parameters based on another parameter selection.
I have a 3 parameter, Parameter 1 says which parameter need to show either Parameter2 or parameter3 in the parameter panel. i don't find any expression to show/hide option.
    Appreciate your help.
    Paramesh G

However if you want parameters to enable disable then that functionality can be obtained by using cascading parameters
ie make parameters  2 and 3 dependent on 1
So for that created two datasets which will provide values for parameters 2 and 3
Check allow null values for both the parameters
Set default value as NULL for both parameters
then for dataset use queries like
    SELECT ...
    FROM ..
    WHERE @Parameter1 = 'Parameter2'
    SELECT ...
    FROM ..
    WHERE @Parameter1 = 'Parameter3'
This will make sure parameter2 or 3 gets enabled with required values based on what you choose for parametr1

Couple of points u need to aware.
There are two ways of Constraint checking in ODI (PK, FK, Condition, NOT NULL etc) using CKM.
FLOW_CONTROL: If u enable this in ur IKM all the constraints checking will be done at I$ table (before target table loading).
STATIC_CONTROL: If u enable this in ur IKM all the constraints checking will be done at TARGET table (after target table loading). In this case u need to DISABLE the constraint first and once STATIC_CONTROL is done then u need to ENABLE it.
So all the violated/errored record will be moved to E$ table in both approach.
    Makes sense?
    Thanks,

  • Enabling / Disabling graphs and opening a new Front Panel Window

    Hi,
I have a simple application of showing 12 analog signals on 12 different graphs placed vertically in aligned position. I have to develop a user interface so that if user wants to display signal no. 1, 4 and 6 out of total 12 signals, he should make selection using check boxes and click a re-draw button. It should result in opening a separate window with these three signals displayed as separate graphs aligned vertically and adjusted to fit window size. Similarly later user can change his selection of displaying signals (from same acquired data) say 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11 & 12 and click Redraw button. It should result in opening a new Window showing all these signals as separate graphs which are aligned vertically and resized to fit the window. Now I have two major issues in this context.
    1) I have been searching LabView help to locate a way to open a new window for this purpose but I failed to locate any way for it. As per my limited knowledge, it seems that we cannot have multiple "Front Panel" windows in Labview.
    2) For the graph I could not locate a control to enable/disable a graph so that it appears or vanishes. Is there any way to achieve it?
I shall appreciate your valuable advice. I shifted from "Lab View Signal Express"  to "Lab View" in order to achieve this user interface design but I am still not successful in finding a good solution for this application.

    Hi Mnuet,
You can do what was said above. Here is a KB on dynamically loading VIs. It looks something like this.
Dynamically loaded VIs are loaded at the point in code while running, as opposed to being loaded when the parent VI is loaded into memory like normal subVIs. You can make a reference to them and then control the front panel appearance, their run status, etc with property nodes and invoke nodes.

  • How to enable / disable SSRS Parameter

    Hi
I want to enable a parameter called "start date" (type is date) when another (value from dropdown) parameter is selected
Say for an example, i have below 3 parameters
    1. drop down which 2 values called "vtextbox","vdate"
    2. start (data type is date)
    3. finish (data type is date)
when i select "vdate"value from the dropdown 2nd and 3rd parameters has to be enable
similarly when i select "vtextbox" value from the dropdown 2nd and 3rd parameter has to disable
I have searched many forums every one says this is not possible in report manager interface
But this is possible in custom code
please make a note all three parameters are independant
It would be great if any one provide the custom code for same
    Regards
    Santosh

    Hi itsmesantosh1982,
According to your description, you want to use a parameter to control enable/disable other two parameters. Right?
In Reporting Services, when we create a parameter, this parameter has been enabled. The only way you want to disable the parameter is deleting it. In this scenario, disable the two parameter is same as selecting all values in these two parameters. So
we can just modify the default values in 2nd and 3rd parameter instead of using cascading parameter. We can create a dataset, put in the query below:
    IF @Param='vtextbox'
    select distinct startdate from [table]
    else
    select '[value]'
The [value] can be any value which is not existing in [table]. So when you select 'vtextbox', the default value will be all values in the table. If you select 'vdate', it will need you to select value automatically because the return value is not existing
in the table. This can be an effective workaround for your requirement.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Enable/disable ACLs for a volume

where is the option enable/disable ACLs for a volume in leopard server 10.5x?
I searched in Server Admin and there Volumes … but I cant find this option which is described in this forum ?!

    Hi
By default Access Control Lists (ACLs) are enabled on Leopard Server (10.5). The situation was different on Tiger Server (10.4) as you had to enable ACLs for each mounted volume.
To disable ACLs on Leopard Server you have to use the command line:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d disable
    to disable and to enable:
sudo fsaclctl -p path -d enable
As with 10.4 you its a good idea to restart the server after disabling or enabling ACLs, otherwise ACLs won't take. Strictly speaking this should only be true of the Boot volume although in my view its worth doing it for any other mounted volume you are going to be using for sharing.
To display ACL status for all mounted volumes issue this command:
    fsaclctl -a
    for a specific volume its:
    fsaclctl -p path
where path is the name of the volume - you can drag drop the desired volume into the terminal window to show its full path. For example you could have:
    fsaclctl -p /
/ is terminal shorthand for the boot volume. Regardless of how you do it you should see something like this:
Access control lists are supported on /Volumes/Data HD

  • Shared Variable Engine Buffering Enable/Disable

    Hello -
I am running into a problem where I am seeing a read of data that seems to be lagging the writing of the data. The reading and writing functions are utilizing the same shared variable - a control to write to it and an indictor to display it somewhere else. The indicator is lagging by one value, ie. scrolling up the value from 1,2,3,4.. will yeild in a display of 0,1,2,3, lagging by one. I am writing/reading to/from a value in a PLC using an OPC server, binding the variables to the control/indicator.
I am assuming it is the buffering which is causing this, but I can not seem to find where the buffering is enabled/disabled.
Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Also, where do you configure the Shared Variable Engine to disable buffering?
Thank you in advance for your help -
    John
PS> One other note, Datasocket binding of the control/indicator does not yield any problems.

    John,
Buffering is configured in the main window of the shared variable (double click on the shared variable in the project).  Also, you will see this behavior if you have the RT FIFO enabled and you're using the variable on a Real Time target.
I would also recommend taking a look at this white paper which covers the workings of the shared variable:

  • Problems with parity and flow control using visa serial

I am trying to create a basic user interface with the options that my
company uses most often for a force indicator.  You can configure
the indicator over serial, as well as read the values off the
indicator.  I am trying to create the user interface so that using
producer/consumer loops with events, once you change a value, it will
write that new value to the serial port, ie the device.
The problem I am having is transfering the parity and flow control
values for the serial config to the Basic read write VI.  The
problem is that once the consumer loop executes, it will write the
values correctly to the VI, but then the outer loop executes 200 ms
later and clears the values.  I know that this is normal behavior
and that in order to keep the values stored, normally you would use a
shift register.  I tried to use this and had some issues with
correct data types/array mis-mtaches, ets, so I created an indicator
and had a local vaible read the indicator, which seems to be working
for the stop bits, read bits, baud rate, etc, but not the parity anf
flow control.  I always get "blank" outputs for theses values (if
you enable the digital display you can see that they are outputing the
value 0 which correspondes to None in both cases, which is
correct).  Even though it appears that it is outputting the
correct value, I get an error that says the VISA property is
invalid.  I initally did a search and found that my stop bit
control was wrong (outputting double instead of integer), but I could
not find anything on the parity/flow control issue.  I even tried
to copy the serial config controls from the basic serial read/write to
my dialog box and that did not work either.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
    Thanks

I should add that I am using LV 8.0 and that the serial config
indicator in the consumer loop will be off the frontpanel in the final
VI so that it is not visible to the user.

  • Synaptics enables / disables itself in a loop

    I have GT70 2OD
    Synaptics 18.1.30.4 08Oct14
    Synaptics TouchPad V7.2
I recently installed the synaptic drivers and I can see that sometimes enter an enable/disable loop (I can see that is enabling and disabled both by the system tray icon and the led in the disable touchpad button below the spacebar).
Usually this flickering / loop starts on any of this two conditions:
    1) Directly after at startup
    2) If I press the Disable touchpad button below the spacebar
    3) If I press Fn+F3
Usually the loop ends when I press the Windows key a couple of times and I manage to go the Start screnn then the flickering stops and I'm able to reenable the touchpad via
Control panel / Change mouse settings/ Device Settings/ Enable (using the keyboard to get there, since the touchpad is disabled).
Does anybody know how to fix it or why it's happening?

I upgraded the firmware to version 1516  (2014-10-15) and that solved the problem, no more enabling / disabling in a loop, no more flickering of the led.

  • Problem disabling Parental Control

    Hi!
I have had problems with Firefox since I installed Leopard, and now I've pinpointed it to Parental Control. On a freshly created account, there is no problem. If I turn on Parental Control (I switched it on, and disabled changes in the Dock and limited the web access) and then change it back (i.e. allowing changes in the Dock and unlimited web access - there is no general overall "disable Parental Control" as far as I can see), some Web sites does not display, I get "411 Length required" error.
I found a bug filed on Firefox (in Bugzilla), but I don't know if the problem is in Firefox (my bet is on Leopard, but that's just a guess).
The same web pages work on Firefox 3 beta.
One (Swedish) example is hemnet.se - enter e.g. "Stockholm" in the "Snabbsök" quick search text box. I get the 411 on that.
Anyway, I've tried deleting lots of preference stuff, listing files before and after the Parental Control thing trying to locate the problem - but I just cannot make it go away.
Any clues on how to kill it?
    More on this: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6581473

Hi Everyone. As a relatively new MAC user and the only person to use my MAC, I am the administrator and when I set up my computer, being a 48 year old without children around the house, did not need or wish to have parental controls enabled and wouldn't have checked any restrictions, (The check box in 'Accounts' is unchecked). However, in iTunes, in the parental settings of preferences for the iTunes store, the restrict movies box is ticked & set to 12 and the restrict TV programmes marked caution box is ticked too. I do not wish to be restricted on anything and everytime I try to change them they have reverted back the next time I look??? Why is this please ... and how do I change it, is it a separate setting to the 'Accounts' setting, I am baffled, or have I missed something?
    Thank you.
