Enabling HTML Buttons after downloading files

Hi,
My Application downloads some data after selecting 2 parameters and clicking on OK. I am disabling OK Button after clicking on that for the download so as to avoid double clicking while the process is going on.
Now I have to enable the OK button immediately after completing the download.
My Response stream is Ms-Excel.
Please let me know how to handle this.

There isn't one, then. If setTimeout doesn't work, it's because clicking on the link/button sends a request, which effectively stops/disables the page and any scripts running. Then a new request is made, the server returns a file. The browser just prompts to save the file, and doesn't bother removing the old content. But it doesn't restart and scripts either.
The only way you could do anything similar would be to have the link/form have a target of a new window (target="_blank"). Then you could try the setTimeout thing again with that, it might work. There'd still be no way to get a notification of completion, though.

Application import halts on clicking at "Next" Button after selecting file

Hi,
I'm trying to import an application to another server but import hangs after clicking at the "Next" button after I have selected the file to be uploaded.
I do can import the application on apex.oracle.com and in the same server
version for toolkit is 10.1.2.0.6
database version 9.2.0.7
The javascript error showing on the page complains on a function( x_Show ).
Any ideas about what's wrong?

Thanks for letting us know what fixed it for you. You just made me realise why my install of Apex 3.0 on XE didn't work - I had the same symptoms as you. I hadn't set up the image folders, which I've read about elsewhere since then, but I hadn't connected the two before.

Dreamweaver 4 no longer working after downloading files created with MX

I downloaded files that were created with Dreamweaver MX to
my pc in order to update them for a new client. I've been using
Dreamweaver 4 and now I cannot even open Dreamweaver 4. Luckily I
also have Dreamweaver 8 installed and can view all the files in the
site from there, but what would have caused Version 4 to generate
errors upon trying to open? It starts to open and I can see that
the properties panel is disabled and then I get the error message:
"Dreamweaver has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience." I've sent the error report to
MS...
Any thoughts other than to use Version 8 from now on? Since
I'm a designer, I do have quite a few client sites that I'd have to
reset the remote site info for...

a guess- you also downloaded the .mno design note files.

Am unable to click and open new tabs using the new tab button after downloading the newest version of firefox?

have recently downloaded the newest version of firefox. after installing i am happy to say i am pleased with the new look and features etc though for some reason i am unable to open new tabs as before.
i now have to right click on bookmarks or favorites and select open in a new tab to do so, rather than simply clicking on the new tab button..

If the problem turns out to be the "New Tabs at the End" extension, there actually is an internal setting for this that you could use instead.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''tabs''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' preference to switch it from true to false. That's it.

Safari adding .html to a downloaded file

When downloading a word or excel file, Safari adds .html to the file making it unreadable. Does anyone know why and how to fix?

As Janee says, this is usually a website issue as much as anything.
Sites are supposed to identify the type of file they are sending via a [MIME type|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internetmediatype]. Sometimes the websites are mis-configured and send the incorrect MIME type - in this case it looks like they claim an Excel documents in text/html.
Most browsers tend to ignore or override what the website tells them. Safari however is a bit more gullible.
Send feedback to the websites in question - it should be quicker for them to make a small server setting change than a fix in Safari to be released (don't forget to send feedback to Apple though: Safari menu -> Report Bugs to Apple...)

Enabling ThinkVantage button after clean OS install (X230)

I'm going to install an SSD in the mSATA slot of my X230 and then do a clean install of Windows 7 x64 on it (setting the SSD to bootable and the HDD to not bootable). I'm concerned that this will render the ThinkVantage button unusable (particularly since that's what happened when I upgraded my X61s from XP to Win7). If this happens, is there a procedure for restoring its functionality? Thanks.

Because Windows is supposed to be installed differently on an SSD than on an HDD. It takes care of itself with a clean install. With a clone I have to go in and reconfigure it. I believe it's just activating TRIM and AHCI, but I'm not sure that's all.

College requested I install firefox in order to operate within Blackboard. Has been working fine for one week, now unable to use enable HTML button. Getting incompatible browswer message and firefox version unknown. How do I fix?

Very frustrating - I have done all of the plug-in checks. Everything is up to date. I have re-booted my computer. The college is using Blackboard version CE8.0.5. I am Windows XP. What else do you need to know?

Unchecking 'Open "safe files after downloading' not working

After unchecking "Open 'safe files after downloading'", files open anyway and do not download to the specified directory (Safari 2.0.4). Instead, I am forced to preview them, and have to manually save. I had this option unchecked on my Powerbook G4 (Safari 1.3.2), and it worked without problems. Any suggestions?

I'm geussing you're using Safari as your internet browser? Try Firefox as a browser. It will allow you to view PDF documents in the browser itself, without downloading the document to your Download folder and it doesn't require Adobe to do so.

How do I re-enable showing the download files history in the download manager window?

System: Windows XP
I am trying to re-enable showing/retaining the list of downloaded files in the download manager window. I want to be able to drag and drop directly from that window into a folder of my choosing. (I used to be able to do this, but apparently I messed that up...)
I have tried the suggestions that could easily be found, including setting Firefox to remember all history in the Privacy tab of Options.
I also deleted the mimeTypes.rdf file to "reset" the browser defaults, but to no avail.
Any ideas/help?

By the way, a few other things you probably know:
(1) The setting to keep the downloads list displayed after a download is here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > General
Check "Show the Downloads window..." and ''uncheck'' "Close it..."
(2) You can always show the list by pressing Ctrl+j
The mimeTypes.rdf file isn't particularly relevant to this problem; it affects what application Firefox uses to open a particular type of file.
However, there is a database file which stores your download history which might be corrupted. You could rename that file and have Firefox start building a new one.
(1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
(2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
(3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''downloads.sqlite''' to something else, like downloads.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
(4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.

Can we disable cancel button in the File download

Can we disable cancel button while trying to download file. and by default file will open with out click on open file, is thes possible?

As far as i know this is not possible. Just recollected reading this [old thread.|http://mailman.mit.edu/pipermail/sap-wug/2004-September/014240.html]
then the work item is regenerated for him alone.
Again this is a standard behaviour, as soon as the workitem is executed by one of the responsible agents it is reserved for that person so that no one can perform any action on it unless the first person replaces it intentionally. Yes, it would have been a better option to have it replaced automatically on pressing "Cancel and keep the workitem in inbox" but this is the way the design is. It is the responsibility of the agent to replace it manually (using "Replace" button) after performing any action on the workitem including pressing "Cancel" button. You may need to take care of this in the user training.
Additionally you can also schedule a report (may be once a day in the midnight) which can check for the reserved workitems and replace all of them using "SAP_WAPI_PUT_BACK_WORKITEM". This would make sure that the workitems are replaced to all users even if the user has accidentally forgot to replace the workitem. Again in this case the user cannot "Reserve" a workitem even if he/she wants to (as your scheduled report would replace it in the midnight).

After downloading and running program to install keeps saying file is corrupt. I have used this on computer before and had crash and am trying to reinstall. Have 2.? gh dual core processor with 4megs ram and a 320 gb hard drive using windows 7 64bit.

How to link to file after download?

Hi,
I'm probably missing something real obvious here. But, I have a button that users use to download a file from the server. They click the button then it pops up a file dialog asking them where they want to save it, what to name it, etc.
That all works fine. But after the file is downloaded, they have to go into Windows Explorer to find the file they just downloaded in order to open it. How do I give similar functionality to a regular browser download where it gives a link to the file they just downloaded, then they can just click that link it and it launches the file in the associated application? Make sense?

Don't take this the wrong way (I mean to be helpful here), but -
1) You mentioned this is for a bank, so presumably this file contains potentially confidential data.
2) Someone inside your organisation should really understand the format of this file (rather than giving it to me to understand).
3) Sure I can look at it, but that would fall under my category of 'consultancy work' (I do provide lots of free help in these forums, but I also need to draw the line somewhere!).
If you don't feel comfortable examining the file yourself, is there no-one else on your development team who would be able to take a look at it?
