Encode and broadcast from video file
Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before I did some quick searches and didn't find anything.
Is there any way to use a static video file as supposed to a camera as the source for the flash media live encoder? This is for the production office I work at - a lot of the videos we make take a long time to encode to flv so it would be great if we could broadcast a video as it is being encoded.

I use the Black Media Intensity Pro Pcie capture card and a Panasonic HDC-SD10 cam. The Black Magic card show up in FMLE so I can play back video from the cam. In fact even my cheap Easycap USB capturecard works to capture my cam, though it does´nt give the same quality as the BM card but still pretty ok.

I just updated to Adobe Reader 11.0.07 on my Mac OS version 10.6.8 and now the video files don't work. How do I uninstall the update and return to the previous version?
I received a notice from Chris Campbell at Adobe that stated : "....we are aware that Macs created between 2006 and 2008 are currently running into problems using the latest release of Flash Player (version 13)." MacBook Pro / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better. Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG. However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success. So here's what I did:
1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
[also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
5. Go back to the Get Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay! -
Live Streaming from Video File
Hi everyone,,, im newbie in programming streaming video with flash....ater reading documentations i tried the instructions on doc, i got a question that i've not been solved. How to make a "live streaming" from "video file". It likes a live streaming from camera but it uses video file as the source.... many thanks
Do you mean you have video file but you want to publish it as live stream , am i right? If yes following is the solution, but before that let me clarify you will need server to do it , i mean there is no way Flash client (i.e. .swf file running in Flash Player) can publish file from local disk.
Now let me tell you how to do it from server:
Place your video file under "streams" folder of your application i.e. say "myVideo.flv" under <FMS root>/applications/myApp/streams/_definst_
Now write following code in your main.asc file (this file would be under <FMS root>/applications/myApp )

mystream.play("myVideo",0,-1,true);
This will publish "myVideo" file as live stream under name of "livestream". Client would have to subscriber using NetStream and
use ns.play("livestream",-1,-1)
You might have to write some extra code if you want to loop same file else once play of recorded file gets over , live publish will automatically stop.

Why does Quicktime tell me it can't play certain videos created with my Phantom 2 v3 drone ? I fly the drone and switch back and forth from video to still pics and while I may have filmed four videos , sometimes Quicktime tells me that one of them can't be played . Checking the info shows that each of the unplayed videos was saved in the same mp4 format as the playable ones yet some of my most important videos won't play . It's getting very frustrating .
first; I use Perian, that helps even though it is no longer supported, (must have for avi files)
the apple-cores at apple have gotten very sloppy -- quicktime is a bit finicky and flakey.
example, occasionally (when copy file from quad's card to hard drive) the avi will show up as a 'mov' file and qt plays it no problem and no conversion.
but that is very occasionally, most of the time qt won't convert the file, -- iMovie won't open an avi without Perian installed , I don't know how that effects qt.
qt 7"pro" is no good either, (qt 10 does everything it does and for NOT the extra $35)
I have gone to VLC and MPlayerX for direct playback for drones and cameras. -

I just installed the 5.4 Camera Raw Update.
I can preview the AVI files from my Nikon D5000, but have not figured out how I might create a still image ( other than stopping the movie, and dragging to copy ) Have tried searching adobe, this forum, have not found more info ion this.Stop the video at the desired point, press the Shift, Command, and 4 keys, drag the cursor so that the whole picture is highlighted, let go of the button, and open the PNG on the desktop.

i am using for first time the time machine and an external hard drive because I want to erase my macbook and start from zero files. Am i keeping my files in the portable hard disk when I will connect it again with the macbook or the time machine will erase all?

Time Machine has to erase the external disk in order to make backups. Before setting Time Machine up, copy the files of your external disk to the hard disk of the Mac in order not to lose them, and then, set up Time Machine. The first backup will start automatically.

My dowloaded films stopped after a while and disappeared from Video. How come can this happen?
I cant explain it but this bizarre "fix" works many times if your videos "disappear". I have passed this on to a number of people and it has worked for them. You can try it if you like.
Go to your home screen and swipe to the right to bring up the spotlight search feature. Type in the name of the movie that you were watching. If the movie appears in the search, tap on it to begin playing. If it plays, let it go for a few minutes and then hit the done button to stop it. Then go back to the Videos App and see if the movies and TV shows have reappeared. -

Go to Solution.As far as I know, a text file has no columns. Please be more specific. Do you mean something like the 5th word on line 4, where words are separated by a space, and lines are separated by a newline character? You could the Read from Spreadsheet String function and set the delimiter to a space. This will produce a 2D array of strings. Then use index array and give the line number and column number.

Encoding and playback problem HD files
Hi all,
Currently, I'm using a new HD camcorder and have no problem with importing and playing these files is premiere cs4 pro. However, when I'm using six video track at the same time I experience some playback problems. After rendering, the video's play, but not smooth, they skip frames and playing a few frames back. In other words, it seems that the video playback stutters. The problem still excists when I encode the project to any file (mpeg2-blu ray, avi, etc). When using two video tracks (with two HD video) this problem is not present, even when these video's are in slowmotion. Installing the new update (4.2) did not solve the problem.
Specs of my system:
Quad core Q6600 @3.0GHz (overclocked)
8gb RAM
>200gb free disk space
windows 7, 64-bit
Does anyone have some suggestions to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for not responing for a few days, but I runned the benchmark you'll send me. The main results (dee details attached file):
53,6, secs Total Benchmark Time
6,4, secs AVI Encoding Time
14,2, secs MPEG Elapsed Time
33, secs Rendering Time
Since the potential problem is my hard disk, inaddition, I runned HDtune (hopefully it will help pinpionting the problem):
disk1: avarage transfer rate: 94MB/s, acces time 13.8ms, burst rate 185MB/s
disk2: avarage transfer rate: 85MB/s, acces time 14ms, burst rate 157MB/s
disk3: avarage transfer rate: 73MB/s, acces time 13.9ms, burst rate 183MB/s
Analyzing these results, could the current hard disk configuration cause the problem I have, or is my system to slow anyway to edit AVCHD material?
If the hard disk configuration is the problem, could it be solved by applying your suggestion by removing all partitions? Since, I'm not looking forward of removing all partions(re-installing windows (dual boot win7 and vista), shifting a huge amount of data, etc), but if it would help I will do it.
