Encore issues with finding sw to decode media & Dynamically Link to Pr timelines?

Two issues:  (1) When I try to bring in a Premier Pro timeline into Encore CS6, I receive this message: " The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system.  Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problems."  However, I AM on the same system that created the timelines in Premier Pro and trying to import them into Encore.
Issue (2) - Within Encore I select Adobe Dynamic Link to link to an existing timeline sequence created in Premier Pro - but the options are grayed out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The common cause of this issue is still image files where the pixel size is too large.
http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/error-software-used-decode-media.html
And in this example where it was not an image issue, the user fixed the problem by re-encoding the problem file.

What versions of EN and PR? DL only works between the same versions: PR CS6 and EN CS6, not PR CC and EN CS6.

  • Issues with Finder - reinstalling Leopard???

    Hi,
I'm having some issues with Finder. Sometimes, when I restart the computer, it takes a long time to start Finder. Besides that, every time I want to eject my Time Machine external HD, I need to relaunch Finder. If I don't relaunch it, it never ejects the TM HD.
Would you recommend reinstalling Leopard, but using the feature to erase everything? When I installed it, I didn't use that feature because I wanted my files/previous programs the way they were before. With a new installation (erasing everything), I'd have to install and configure so many things again and I didn't want that. But now, because of the issues with Finder, I'm thinking about reinstalling Leopard.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Mike

Before you do anything drastic, repost your question in the Finder/Dock forum.
No, I am not being sarcastic - but you might find that it's a common problem and others over in that forum have a solution or else it might simply be an "issue" that a reinstall will not fix.
It would be annoying if you reinstalled Leopard and it didn't install properly.
Until you are sure about the Finder "issue" leave it alone for now.
    Here's the Finder/Dock forum location:

    And good luck.

I haven't used Time Machine, but I wonder if you can temporarily turn it off so you can dismount your external hard drive. Note while your external hard drive that Time Machine is dependent on is not connected, anything you do will not appear on Time Machine, since it is reliant on that external hard drive for source information. The only question I would have, is if you remounted the hard drive is whether Time Machine would be able to recognize what it has backed up to it already?
Reinstalling Leopard shouldn't be necessary. I would also try to see if you are running low on disk space. Tell us how much space you have free on both internal and external drive out of how much space total?

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Issue with finder screen sharing.

My iOS development partner and I are currently having issues with screen sharing through the finder.  Prior to installing OSX Mavericks there was no issue with adding each other as users to each others computer, but after the install is when the problem started happening.  At the root level there are multiple users on each other's computers with our corresponding names but they don't appear in Users and Groups.  So, having phantom users on each other's computers, we took them into the Genius Bar at our local apple store.  They tried a few different methods, none of which worked, and had us reinstall the operating system and now we're back at square one having to resort to using the "permission" screen share as opposed to just being able to screen share directly though user accounts that we previously set in system preferences. I used the following console command, but it doesn't show the same accounts in the Users and Groups under System Preferences.: (dscl . list /Users | grep -v "^_") Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Currently running Software  OS X 10.9.1 (13B42) on both machines.

  • Issues with finder going out of sync with file images in cover flow.

    Hi All,
I'm having issues with files going out of sync with images in cover flow since updating to Mavericks. Typically, if I had for example 10 pictures listed as 1 to 10, if i deleted images 6&7 the images remain in coverflow but the file listings are removed, then if i click on image 7 the file listing of image 8 is highlighted, then to make matters worse, if i click on the file listing for image 9 in shows image 8 in cover flow. To stop this I have to shut down finder and restart it, then the whole thing repeats itself if i delete more images. Its a nightmare when your working with 50 plus images at a time!!! Help!!
    Thanks all.

    com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and com.apple.finder.plist
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Find my iPhone suggestion and issue with find my mac.

i dont know if this has ever been brought up but this is a very serious and good point. Find my iphone which is under icloud can be toggled on and off as easy as a tap. So what if i lost my phone and didn't have passcode lock on. if someone wanted to steal it they could go to icloud and turn off find my iphone then ill never find it again. Doesn't anyone else think to turn it on/off it should be password or pin protected. I mean if i have to turn off passcode lock with a pin it should be the same for my find my iphone and the same with my computer.
which leads me to my issue with my mac. Every time i go into my settings i find that find my mac is some how unchecked even after i already checked it. does anyone else have this issue? whats the point of the feature if it doesn't even stay on?

Even if it was, nothing would prevent the thief from forcing the phone into recovery mode and restoring it as a new device, which erases that phone and all settings, including iCloud and Find My iPhone.
Don't know why your Mac keeps unchecking this setting though...

  • BEx workbooks - Issue with FIND in BEx

    Hi All,
We have an issue with workbooks.
When user tries to FIND with * in BEx in BW production he is able to see other's workbooks.
How do we restrict the Find or disable the FIND in BEx for workbooks.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai

    Hi Sai,
It is not possible to restrict this workbook search...or disable it...
your user should however only have access to the workbooks that your have assigned to him via the roles mechanism. It is via
this roles mechanism that you can prevent a user from accessing other users workbooks.

  • Issues with Finder tabs feature + trackpad gestures

    Hello,
Recently installed Yosemite 10.10.1 (clean install + migration of backup data and apps). Like Yosemite design but...
Just after the install, things I am talking about below, were working well but since the very first turn-off and start, things have been going worse and worse, especially with Finder.
1st issue. Opening tabs in Finder (cmd + click on folder from the sidebar) works in a bizarre way:  when I open a folder such as Documents in a tab > OK but.... when I open the folder Utilities (part of the Applications one) from the Finder sidebar, the former open tabs as well as the left sidebar of the Finder vanish and just get a unique Finder window (without the left sidebar) with the Utilities folder. This unexpected and undesired behavior happens in both full screen or regular modes.
2nd issue. When scoping into a folder which consists of multiple sub-folders, the "back-and-forth" navigation to the previous or next folder (similar to previous or next page) does not work with the usual Trackpad gestures (swipe with 2 or 3 fingers) while it was working super well just after the install.
Hope these undesired behaviors of Finder have been already identified as bugs and will be fixed very soon. Should any of you have an idea about that, welcome.
    Thank you!

Self reply. Just found workaround and solution:
1st issue: step 1 > activated "Quit Finder" in Finder menu bar (thanks to Onyx), step 2 > quit Finder, step 3 > restart Finder and... step 4 > all folders open properly in tabs.
However, also noticed that the width of the Finder sidebar seems to be preserved as a preference, only as from a certain width. Below this limit, seems that the manual settings of the sidebar width are lost and next time the folder is open it comes with a shrunk sidebar (Yosemite bug or normal behavior? Cannot recall such a behavior in Mavericks).
2nd issue: back-and-forth navigation in Finder pages (within a same window or tab) works well with trackpad swipe gesture at the condition the Trackpad System Preference "swiping through pages" is set up with option "3 fingers" or "2 or 3 fingers". Option "2 fingers only" does not work in Finder.
    My 2 cents!

  • Captivate 5.5 issue with finding external files

I have a project where I am trying to have a swf open another document (pdf, ppt, etc.).  What I am having an issue with is Captivate does not see the files if they are not in the same directory as the swf.  I have tried multiple options.  I can not have a drive letter involved as this is a mobile file which will be run off of a USB drive.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi there
I'm not sure what you are experiencing here. How exactly have you tried to path your links? If you know the "HTML Shorthand" of accessing files it should not be a problem. Captivate won't need to "see" the files. Certainly plopping all the files together is the simplest (and most often recommended) way of working, but as long as you know how to use what we call "Relative Addressing", things should work fine.
So if you want a structure like this:
    Captivate SWF Folder
    ** SomeSWF.SWF
    ** SomeSWF.HTM
    ** Standard.JS
And maybe you want a folder named PDFS that would make the structure look like this:
    Captivate SWF Folder
    ** SomeSWF.SWF
    ** SomeSWF.HTM
    ** Standard.JS
    ** PDFs
    **** SomePDF.PDF
The link inside Captivate would simply look like this:
    PDFS/SomePDF.PDF
Or maybe you have a folder named PDFS that you want at the same level as the Captivate SWF Folder so the structure looks like this:
    Captivate SWF Folder
    ** SomeSWF.SWF
    ** SomeSWF.HTM
    ** Standard.JS
    PDFs
    ** SomePDF.PDF
In that case the link inside Captivate would look like this:
    ../PDFS/SomePDF.PDF
Also, if you are testing on your local C drive, the links may not work because you need to asjust your Flash Player Global Security Settings and add the output folder as a trusted location.
Steps for doing that are at the link below:

  • Issues with Finder as a WebDav client

I have written a WebDav server that can be integrated into my iPhone app so as to allow some files to be transferred to and from the application. (I've already been through a long discussion as to whether or not Apple will allow this 'feature' but that is not the subject of this question).
When I use Finder as the client for my testing (both on the simulator and the device itself) I get the first part of the connection going and then Finder gives me an error that the server cannot be found on the network - even after it has already completed 2 request/response transfers with the server.
When I use CyberDuck as the client, it all works well and I can perform all of the interactions correctly.
I've used the 'PacketPeeper' application to look at the information passing between the client and the server and I can see no (significant) difference between the clients for the actual packets - its just that Finder simply stops sending sending packets except for one that has no payload and includes the 'FIN' flag.
The 'significant' word is used above because the XML data that is transferred back from my server to the client can either have all tags appended directly to the prior one, or can have line terminators and spacing added to the entire packet. Neither form makes any difference to CyberDuck or to Finder for the transfers that do occur. However when I monitor Finder talking to the 'AirShare' application, I see that AirShare formats some but not all of the XML - however the communication continues between Finder and AirShare. My understanding is that the formatting of the XML should make no difference to the information being passed.
Can anyone please tell me where I should be looking for a difference that is making my server fail with Finder?
I could simply carry on and blame a bug in Finder, but I really want the let Finder be a client as it will be available to all OS X-based users but other WebDav clients may not be.
    Thanks
    Susan

Found the problem and I'm describing it here in case it is of use to others.
The 'obvious' symptom was that Finder was sending the request for the 'OPTION" and 'PROPFIND' information and then displaying a popup dialog box saying that the server could not be found on the network.
The 'non-obvious' symptom was that there was an entry in the console log that the specified root was a file and not a directory, and giving the name of the file that the error was encountered (webdav_network.c) and the line number.
The problem turned out to be that when I was creating the XML response data header, I accidentally said "encoding=utf8" instead of "encoding=utf-8".
Looking at the code in webdav_network.c (which is part of the Darwin code set and therefore available on the Apple developer site) I found the place where the console log line was generated which was followed by a return status of 'no device' which must be interpreted by the rest of the finder as no server.
Tracing back a little further into the code (webdav_parse.c)I found where the XML was actually being parsed (using the core foundation event-driven XML parser functions) and noticed that there was no error checking code around the actual parse itself and so no error code was being returned. When I copied the appropriate parts of the code into my own program (so that I could debug it) I found that it was returning an error and the error was quite explicit: unrecognised encoding!
The parsing failure meant that the callback routines were not being called and so none of the flags and values were being set correctly. Because no error was being returned, back in the webdav-network.c file the parse was assumed to be successful and the incorrect parse state information was therefore being mis-interpreted (a check to make sure that the 'directory' flag had been set was failing which lead to the 'not a directory' console message).
If only the code had been written to do a bit more error checking and had returned more sensible error messages...!!!!!

  • Atheros WLAN Driver Fixes Connection Issues With Many New Routers (Linksys, Netgear, D-Link, etc...)

    Hi:
This post is for those that have the below listed Atheros adapters, and recently upgraded their routers (usually from a Wireless G to a Wireless N router from 2009 or newer), only to find they cannot connect to the internet anymore.
    Atheros AR5006 802.11a/b/g WiFi Adapter
    Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter
    Atheros AR5009 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter
When using their old equipment, there were no problems.
Symptom:  When upgrading to a new router, normally connection is made to the local network, but one cannot access the internet.
Symptom:  Wireless connects if using WEP security or no security, but will not connect when using WPA2-Personal security.
For those who have the above Atheros wireless adapters, and are experiencing issues with connecting to the internet, there is a driver available that should remedy the situation.
It is good for Windows operating systems -- Windows XP through Windows 7 -- 32 or 64 bit.
It may work on Windows 8 too, but I haven't tested it on Windows 8.
Here is the link to the driver download page:

I created an HP account just to thank you for this link. I've spent 2 days online and talking to call centers trying to get this driver. I was finally going to just return my router to Best Buy. Thank you SO much!

  • Issue with refresh of task flow in dynamic region

    Hi All,
I am using Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.6. In my fusion application I am facing an issue with the task flow refresh in the dynamic region. In my application, I have one task flow in which the side navigation command links are there and on the right side it has a dynamic region which is used to display the respective task flows on click of navigation links. Now two of the links actually call the same task flow in dynamic region but for different purpose. One for creating a record and another one for modifying the record. The default activity of that task flow has a page fragment that has couple of fields. One a drop down and another one a text field for searching the accounts against which the record is to be created or modified. On click of the navigation link, I set the task flow id to be displayed and refresh the dynamic region. Now the issue is with those two links which shows the same task flow. Let's say  I searched for a record by putting some value in input text and then went on to modify flow using the modify navigation link. Then the value that I entered in search input text in the create flow stays and does not go away. I found out the cause for the issue and this is happening because of the immediate = true on the navigation command links. Now I cannot remove that because of the obvious reason that then it will start throwing exceptions for the mandatory fields when I am in middle of any flow. Is there any way to achieve it.
Please help as this is quite urgent. I can also upload the sample application if anyone needs it.
    Regards
    Ajay

try to put RefreshCondition in the pageDef file for that particular task Flow and try to make that condition to true only when you switch between edit or add. While switching, make sure that the mapped bean properties should also point to respective values i.e. either empty for new or holds some value for edit.
So, when ever the above condition returns true, task flow gets refreshes and it will holds only the current values not the old values.
i hope this will resolve your issue.

  • How to resolve the issue with Finder: "The last time you opened finder, it unexpectedly quit when reopening Windows"

For anyone who is struggling with this issue that simply will not go away, please try:
    1. Fist turn off the mac
    2. Turn on the mac while holding the shift key (safe mode)
    3. Once all logged in click on Finder at the bottom of your screen
    4. Click on Go 5 steps to the right of the Apple logo
    5. Hold the Alt key and click on Library
    6. Open the Preferences folder
    7. Drag 'com.apple.Finder.plist' to yourDesktop
    7. Restart the mac
That should hopefully resolve it, if not place the plist file on your Desktop back to its original location. Thank you!

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
