Encrypting Lotus Notes - SAP interface

Dear all,
Is there any standard best practice if you want to encrypt data transfer from Lotus Notes to SAP RFC?
Is SNC compatible with Lotus Notes?
Or should I create or implement custom algorithm in my ABAP code for corresponding RFC and also in Lotus Notes program?
Thanks for the advice
Regards,
Erick L. Panjaitan

Hi, Pavan,
Thanks, but that one was not really what I'm looking for.
I've already established an interface connection from Lotus Notes to SAP. What I am looking for is, how can I encrypt the data transmission between Lotus Notes and SAP. I am looking for some way to encrypt the transferred data between those two system.
Should I create some encryption function on both system or is there any "standard", "ready to use" one.
Regards,
Erick

  • Lotus Notes and SAP Business Workflow

    Hi Experts!
If you have an experience or if you have SPECIFIC notes on Lotus Notes/SAP Workflow integration, please share some views on these following questions:
    1. The SAP version we are using is ECC6.  The client wants to upgrade their Lotus Notes client to V7.0.1 which caters Workflow integration. <b>Do we need to have the Lotus Connector for this</b>? (Workitem should be processed using the Lotus Notes client and there is a link where the apporover can process the workitem.)
    2. What are the essential technical specifications for this this integration?
        a. Domino Server Platform
        b. Client Platform
        c. Domino Release
        d. Lotus Notes Client version
        e. Product/connector for the link.
    3. What should I use for configuring the notification scenario?
        a. Extended Notifications
        b. RSWUWFML2
        c. SWN_SELSEN
    Please provide answers on these.
Thank you very much.  I'm generous in giving points.
    Regards,
    Reymar

    Hi Akshay!
Am I right to affirm that according to what you've said, <b>there is no Lotus Notes Connector needed</b>  for Lotus Notes and SAP Workflow integration?
I actually haven't tested yet the Extended Notification, but from your reply, I think you are confident enough to tell me that it is possible to have a link in the Lotus Notes mail and then this link could bring you to the Document and process it using,of course, the Extended Notification.
I'm very thankful. Have a nice day. And also, please share some notes on how too use the Extended Notification. (--,)

  • Interfacing between SAP ECC 6.0 and Lotus Notes

    Hello Guru's,
I have a requirement where I need to catch billing document number from Lotus notes interface and send related information back to it.
Agreed approach to hadle this is using webservices.
Could you please guide me initial steps how to do it?
From SAP side, i have created RFC enabled function module and created Webservices from Menu path
utilities -> More Utilities -> Create Webservice -> From function module.
Any help on this topic would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Pankaj,
Your RFC-enabled FM on SAP side, which you've deployed as a wS is supposed to receive billing document numbers and return info related to those billing documents.
You just have to call this WS in Lotus Notes and take the returned info to process/display in Lotus Notes.
So you're already on the right track. What else do you want to know, please feel free to ask?
    Cheers,
    Anirut W.

  • SAP XI and Lotus Notes

    Hello,
Is there a best approach followed now to integrate XI and Lotus notes. We have a requirement to create a lotus notes document from SAP R3 using XI.
Any suggestions and successful implementations please...
    Thank you
    Thilothama

    Hello Thilothama,
if you apply SAP XI to connect to Lotus you may leverage the following adapters:
    - HTTP
    - SOAP
    - XINotes (partner adapter)
the choice depends on how much effort you want to spend on the Lotus side.
In case of HTTP you simply develop an agent that processes the request XML. This can be done fairly easy - however this is a proprietary solution since you kind of hard-code the formats.
In case of SOAP you need a little more work. If you use Lotus Domino R6 you also manually have to take case of SOAP request parsing (e.g. using the Microsoft SOAP toolkit or some java-based parser). If you use R7 this is easier since SOAP processing is implemented as part of Domino. Then, your interface is described using a WSDL and this can optionally also be published via a UDDI registry.
In case of XINotes you don't need any work on Lotus since the XINotes adapter is based on NCSO - this means the adapter directly understands notes forms and notes views.
Regarding the payload XML you process via HTTP or SOAP you may leverage DXL. DXL is easy to process on Domino since you can use the DXL Importer classes to directly create/update/modify notes documents within 2 codelines. On the other hand: if you use DXL the sender system should already prepare the DXL - so it needs lots of information regarding your notes DB (replica ID etc).
If you need more tangible experiences you may also contact me directly.

  • Intergate Lotus Notes with SAP

    Dear All,
I had do mail configuration in SAP and its working.
But i want to import all my Lotus Notes contact in SAP. is it possible? How?
OR can I Intergate Lotus  mailing system with SAP?
    Regards,
    Nisit

    Nisith,
The approaches that are currently available to integrate SAP R/3 and Lotus Notes are:
    Lotus Connectors:
Lotus Connectors are system files that are developed using common object model interface, known as Lotus Connector API. They provide optimized access to the enterprise data from Domino. These connectors are installed on the Web Application Server platform of SAP and are used to connect to and to transfer data from the enterprise servers and other enterprise platforms. This Lotus Connector, when used with enterprise integration tools, facilitates to integrate SAP application logic with Domino applications. The Connector was developed using SAP's Remote Function Call Software Development Kit (RFCSDK) and enables execution of any SAP Remote Function Call (RFC) that is remotely callable, all BAPIs and Transactions using Batch Data Input. Using the Lotus Connector for SAP technology ensures that data transfers and queries are processed through the SAP application layer, preserving the business logic and data validations contained in SAP Remote Function Call and transaction interfaces, which comprised of SAP processes. Therefore, reading and writing SAP data is always performed through the application layer and not by directly accessing back-end database tables and by using Lotus Connectors all the business rules provided by RFCu2019s and SAP Transactions are maintained.
Domino Mail Transfer Agent for R/3:
A server-based add-ins, Domino MTA is used in bi-directional message transfer amid SAP R/3 and Notes, which leads to the transformation of Dominou2019s inbox into a universal inbox for both Domino and SAP. This tool is used to send messages to and from SAP R/3 to notes. It enables the users to send or receive mails, faxes and also disseminate the data from R/3 system to the notes mailbox. Hence, the users are required to check a common interface for reading the messages from both SAP R/3 and Lotus Notes. The Mail transfer Agent along with providing full attachment support provides users with the rich text support, facilitating R/3 mail users using any other application like Microsoft word as their e-mail editors. In addition, R/3 MTA provides all the transactional support that is required by the users. The users to make sure that the data being transferred from R/3 is properly routed to Domino can also use this support. MTA even enables the users to keep a track of all the messages that are sent or received from R/3 by tracking them in a Notes log file. As mentioned above, the Domino MTA uses add-ins. These add-ins are object client to send mail from Domino to R/3 and object server to receive mail from R/3.
    Lotus Enterprise Integrators (LEI):
This tool is used to transfer the data both ways between SAP R/3 and Domino applications. LEI are the quickest way to ensure transfer of data and that too without following the tedious task of writing long lines of codes. Also, it facilitates this transfer by taking one end as a source and the other as a target. In this, the data transfer of each type utilizes a different connector such as Oracle connector and Notes connector. These connectors are used in both LEI and Domino Enterprise Connectivity Services (DECS) to ensure bi-directional access of notes and web applications of R/3 data from a Domino server.
    Hope this helps you.

Can you please try to do the following in the steps .
    1) Search for the file nslbe.dll which can be in the folder c:\program files\notes . Add the location to the PATH variable in the environment variables.
    2) Go to the installation folder for Lotus notes which might be c:\program files\Lotus\Notes\jvm\lib\ext . In this folder please put the following files Notes.jar,mail.jar,activation.jar, nslbe.dll. Please do take care that you will need to add the files in the folder ..\jvm\lib\ext
    3) Add the ..\jvm\lib\ext folder location to your environment variables.
    4) Create a environment variable JAVA_HOME and add the location of the jre-bin,lib and the JDK-bin,lib to this.
Restart your Server and the system where in you want to install the connector and try to run the installation again .

  • Lotus notes data in SAP BW

    Hi Gurus,
We are facing with a typical scenario here. I want to have my Lotus Notes data in SAP BW system. Lotus notes uses NSF file system to store data. I am not clear how can we get this into SAP BW. I tried searching the same in different forums but none of the thread come close to solving the issue.
There are connectors available. However, I am not able to find documentations on the same. I know how to transfer SAP BW data in Lotus notes but not the reverse. I tried searching for LotusSQL Drivers but found no documents on this as well.
I want to know what source system can we use here. Is'nt there any other way without using a file system as Source system to accomplish this. I want the entire process to be automated. I don't want to use a middleware (like ORACLE database) in between Lotus notes server and SAP BW.
Can anyone please respond to the same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sreekul Nair

Thank you for the prompt response Shanthi. However, I don't want to use File System as my source system. I want to do it via a use of a Lotus notes connector or Lotus Enterprise integrator. I want that the data as and when pushed from Lotus notes  should appear in BW system.
How to achieve this. Plz help.

  • How to integrate Lotus Notes and upload Help Docs into SAP Portal

    Hi Experts,
I got 2 questions with regards to content in portal...
    1) I got nearly 30 to 40 help documents (PDF & WORD) which users may refer when accssing CRM & BW system in portal.
Currently they are stored in the Local Drive....i am trying to find a way to upload them portal...so the users can always have the docs the require
    and
    2) Can any one please update me in detail ...on how to integrate Lotus Notes into portal and configure Single Sign on  currently my Portal and Lotus Notes user id's are different
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Geethika,
    1. IF documents are on your local computer, Netweaver Portal has a KMC Addon (Knowledge Management and Collaboration). Within KM it is possible to run a Document Management Scenario. You can Create Folders within KM, give Access Rights to Users, Create an Iview to browse KM Folder then add that Iview to a Page or Role so users can access it.
For this, please chech the online documentation via http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/20/b46d42ea0b3654e10000000a155106/content.htm
    2. For Lotus Notes Integration, your Lotus Notes Server must be running on Windows Platform.
For the rest configuration please check the following:
Single Sign-On from SAP Enterprise Portal to Lotus Domino

    Hi,
well you should ask your Lotus Notes administrator to setup an SMTP gateway on the LotusNotes side for you. I know that this is possible but I have not done it myself before. And since this is an SAP BusinessObjects forum I am not sure you will get an answer about this here.

  • Interface Crystal Report Server with Lotus Notes

  • Multiple Ibase/components with one change request / interfacing Lotus Notes

<b>Scenario:</b> Our users post all their software change requests (not only for SAP) into an application based on <b>Lotus Notes</b>. Professionals of the IT department evaluate the requests and make a offer for each of the change requests. The users may (or may not) accept the offer and place an order - all this in Lotus Notes, and not only for SAP.
If that order is confirmed and points to the SAP environment, <b>Lotus Notes automatically must involve Solution Manager</b> by calling a rfc-enabled function module in the Solution Manager system. This function module has to create a Solution Manager Change Request (simulating CRMD_ORDER transaction) together with its maintenance cycle, task list and transport request.
<b>Problem:</b> One of the problems is, that Lotus Notes change requests for SAP environment often require <b>changes to multiple logical components</b>, like R/3 plus BW plus CRM.
<b>Question:</b> The question is, how to create a Solution Manager Change Request for multiple components? This is caused by the restriction of the input screen of CRMD_ORDER which allows <b>only one Ibase/component assignment</b>.
Do you already have worked on this or any idea that might help? I would appreciate very much if you would share your expertise. Thank you.

    Hi Heiner,
The work around that I use is in my maintenance project I have added all the logical components that I will have to work with.(R/3, ECC 6.0, BW etc..) This way, when I created the Maintenance cycle, my task list had all of these systems/clients in it.
The only hick is that in the CRMD_ORDER transaction, you only can put one ibase component.
The above mentioned solution works if you combine all your systems into one maintenance cycle.
let me know if this sheds any light for you.

  • Lotus Notes 7.0.1/7.0.2 and SAP Business Workflow

    Hi Everyone!
    Please help me on this.
My client has received an email from IBM that they could have their SAP Connector free of charge if they are to upgrade their current <b>Lotus connector</b> ver5 to <b>version 7.0.2</b>.  This version has included Workflow Integration as part of IBM's integration points with SAP.
Does anyone have an experience on integrating the two?  Please share documents or procedures on how to integrate them.
My current configuration is intended for a <b>1-way communication integration</b>.
I used the report <b>RSWUWFML2</b> for sending notifications (though in my case, it <i>only sends a message that there were workitems present in the recipient's SAP inbox</i>).  The SMTP configuration works fine.  The client has not yet purchased the SAP connector.
If the SAP Connector is now available, the <b>2-way communication</b> will be imposed.
I am planning to configure a 1-way communication integration where it could <b>work either on a 1-way or 2-way communication</b>.  Is this possible?
Can I have a configuration (for sending of workitems to Lotus mail or internet mail) which could have a link that connects the recipient to the transaction for approval or workitem execution?
    Thank you very much experts!!!
    Best regards,

  • Accessing Lotus Notes from SAP

I'm trying to access data of Lotus Notes databases from an ABAP using OLE.
If the Lotus Notes Class returns a "common" variable (string, number or another object), there is no problem, but when it returns an "stringArray" or a "valueArray" variable I cannot get the value.
For example, it happens when trying to get the value of a field from a document:
    CALL METHOD OF w_document 'GetItemValue' = w_value
      EXPORTING #1 = 'FieldName'.
this method returns a "valueArray" value and defining the w_value as string or character in ABAP is does not crash but the content of w_value after having executed this method is always blank.
Any idea on how to solve it?
    Thanks
