End of web browser or applet detection

Hello,
I would like when the user leaves the FORMS applet. It can occur in several situations :
- closing the window of the web browser,
- pushing on the back or next page buton.
How can I detect theses events in FORMS trigger ?
Thank's
Mike.

I doubt you may be able to capture these.
However you can write a trigger on when-window-closed which is a proper exit. So you might have to modify your logic ie instead of capturing the invalid exit methods, capture the valid exit methods and all other methods may be considered invalid

  • How to launch my java application in a web browser?

    Hi. I try to launch my java application, e.g. "HellowWorld.java", using web browser.
    1. How can I change my java application program to java applet in general way?
    I read "Java: An Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, Third Edition"
    by Walter Savitch and found page 803 - "Converting a Swing application to an applet".
    My question is how I can know which class should be removed or not such as using JApplet instead of JFrame. Are there general rules about this?
    2. I found "AWT only" tutorial had some example lauching application using "AppletButton".
    How can I use this method to launch "HelloWorld.class"?
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/information/download.html#OLDui
    (after extracting zip file) -> ../OLDui/layout/card.html
    3. (continued 2) Can I use above method to embed applet into web browser?
    For example, java Swing application -> applet using "AppletButton" -> web browser using "<applet></applet>" tag.
    I'd appreciate any partial anwers of these questions or other suggestions.
    Thanks.

    Thanks! Here is what I got from your help.

    Regards,

    If you want to run forms without the IE browser (hidden)
    Try this
    To open web forms just like client server with a hidden IE window, I have invented two methods.
    ****** make seperateFrame = True on formsweb.cfg ******
    Method 1

    <script language="VBScript">

    Set objConfig = objStartup.SpawnInstance_
    ' Create Notepad process
    Set objProcess = objWMIService.Get("Win32_Process")
    intReturn = objProcess.Create _

    Hi Guys,
    I've created an applet which makes use of some swing components, but unfortunately, not all of them function properly in my web browser (internet explorer or Mozilla Firefox). Its mainly the buttons; the last buttons works and displays the correct file within the broswer, but the first 5 buttons do not work...

    Thanks for the response. I don't quite understand what you're talking about though. I have, in my humble knowledge, done nothing with packages. I have put the applet class (WiaRekenToolActiz.class is the applet class) in the jar file wia_actiz_archive.jar. From what I read on the tutorial, java looks for the applet class in all the jar files specified. Since I put my CODEBASE as the main url, I thought it baiscally didn't matter where you out the html file.
    I shall include the complete html page complete with applet tag to perhaps illuminate a bit more what I mean...

    I run the program using Eclipse; run as> Java applet
    and in runs perfectly well. I then tried running it using internet explorer and firefox, but only a gray box appeared and the browser says "applet notinited" and "Loading Java Applet Failed.."
    what did i do wrong? any help is really appreciated.. thanks

    thank God i already found the cause of the problem..
    it's because the application has an ImageIcon which links to a local jpeg file, so perhaps security restriction on the browser doesn't allow my applet to access local file, that's why it fails to load.
    either using signed applet (not tested) or removing the picture solved my problem.
    thanks anyway :)

  • Closing Web Browser from an Applet

    Does anyone knows how to close the Web Browser from an Applet ?
    Also Is there a way to close a browser which is intantiated from using ApplteContext ().showDocument ("....","_Blank").
    Thanks
    Sohan

    Hi kavinjir!
    Using class netscape.javascript.JSObject is possible to interact with javascript which can easily close the window browser but I'm afraid about the newest one because it isn't a child window. If this newest window contains an applet both (applets) can interact and send/receive "messages" to trigger an event (e.g; close via javascript again).
    Best Regards.

  • How can i detect the version of the browser in applet

    i wanto detect the version of the browser in applet
    can you help me?

    Hi glovebx!
    Currently there isn't way via java applets since the nearest method is System.getProperty(String key)
    and there isn't a proper key allowed to browser version/name.
    Try to get this browser property via javascript then interact with applet using package netscape.javascript.JSObject.
    Best Regards.
    P.S.: Visit http://developer.netscape.com to read about this issue.

  • End-user closes the Web browser's window...

    Hi ,
    I have an Exit_Form selection on a menu.....
    Is it possible the code being there to be executed whenever the end-user closes the web-browser's window.....???
    I use Dev10g.
    Thanks , a lot
    Simon

    Unfortunately... is is not applicable....because:
    1) Many users(application users) connect via a db user to the database.... , so i cannot relate each application user to a db session.
    2) The trigger on_logoff can not be used because of the first note....
    3) As i have written in my previous post the "exit_form" is not 'pure PL/SQL' code but 'forms' code.... It contains some 'erase(global_variables)' which are unknown to the db......
    Thanks , anyway...

  • JMF works in Applet View, but in web browser, cannot find device

    I'm developing an Applet which can capture image from a web camera.
    It's working very well in the applet view, but it says "No devices" error message through web browser.
    How can I make it work? How can I find device on the web browser?

  • How to run an applet with JDBC connectivity on a web browser

    I've created an Applet in Java with SQL connectivity...i.e. it retrieves certain data from a table in SQL and puts in the TextField.....
    Now, the problem is that this Applet works in NETBEANS....but fails to work when I use a web-browser..or the "appletviewer" command....
    It says that it doesn't have permission to access local files....On Research, i've found that it is somethin' related to the concept of "Signed Applets", "Permissions" & "Security Policies" in java which doesn't allow any applet (without Certificate) to access Local Files.....
    Can Somebody please tell how to overcome this problem.....?

    I'm going to be blunt with you. You are most likely going to have to redesign your application from scratch. And if it turns out you don't have to then you should anyway because it's a bad idea and fraught with peril.
    Anyway here the major touchpoints on this discussion. You can be the judge of how these various points apply to you.
    - Applets are restricted. - Yes Applets have a number of security restrictions on what they can or cannot do. This is designed to protect users from malicious applets. By signing your applet you can request permission from the user to do certain activities that are otherwise restricted. But not all.
    - If you are using the JDBC-ODBC bridge then you need a different driver. If you sign your applet it might work in some limited scenarios but it will be hairy and is discouraged.
    - If you are using Access or another file based database (CSV Excel etc) then you are doomed. You'll have to get yourself a different database. A non file based one. It doesn't matter if you sign your applet or not. You're still doomed.
    - If you are trying to connect to a database server that is not at the same physical address as your web server you are doomed. Signing the applet will not help
    - Connecting directly to a database from an applet is extremely risky business. Starting with now anyone can steal your username and password for your database quite easily.
    What you should do in the redesign is put all the database accessing code in a Servlet. This Servlet does not have to be Java, it could be PHP, Perl, ASP, etc. It doesn't matter. Just put it on the server side. Then have your applet connect to this code via a webservice to do what is required.

  • Detect if fillable form is open in Acrobat (as opposed to Reader or web browser)

    I have a fillable form that is Reader Extended (so it can be saved from Adobe Reader). After a user fills in the form, he clicks a submit button that sends a data stream to a servlet. The servlet embeds this data as XML in another version of the form, converts the form to be PDF/A compliant, and returns the new PDF/A form with embedded data. That all works fine when the fillable form was open in either Reader or a web browser. But if the user has the fillable form open in Acrobat when he clicks the submit button, the embedded data is stripped out of the PDF/A form that's returned by the servlet.
    It's not a problem if the user fills in the data while the form is open in Acrobat, as long as he closes the form and opens it in Reader or a web browser before clicking the submit button.
    Is there a way to detect if the fillable form is open in Acrobat (perhaps in the preSubmit event?) so I can display a message warning the user to save and close the form, and then open it in Reader or a web browser before clicking the submit button?

    I added the following code to my submit button, but it gives me the same appType and host.name values for IE and Acrobat, so I can't tell them apart:
    var
    viewerType = xfa.host.appType;
    var
    viewerName = xfa.host.name;xfa.host.messageBox("Viewer is "
    + viewerType);xfa.host.messageBox("Host is "
    + viewerName);
    viewerType is Exchange-Pro
    viewerName is Acrobat

    archive="maven-grafo-plugin-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar,prefuse-beta-20060220.jar"

    I'm working on a 15" powerbook. I just got back to school, and when I plug into the ethernet port,my computer detects that the ethernet is plugged in and that I am connected to the internet. My IP Address is recognized and everything else. My problem is that when I try to open a web browser, it says it can't find the server. The same for when I try to log into AIM. I am connected to the network, as I can see "shard music" in iTunes and everything else. I am connected using DHCP. Anyone know where I should start? The "help-desk" here is of no help.

    Could be a DNS error,
    enter http://17.254.3.183 into your address bar.
    If you get to the apple site, then it is a DNS error.
    if not, I'd pull your system config plists and restart.
