Endorsing (Stamping) PDF Documents

Can anyone assist with my question.
Is there anyway to endorse a PDF document with a individual unique (colour) stamp. Stamp to include business name logo unique number and issue date.
If so what product is best and how do you do it?
Thanks again

Hi Gabriel,
Yes, this is possible using the Stamp tools in Acrobat Professional or Standard. Here is a Blog by Tim Huff that goes step by step how to create custom dynamic stamps in Acrobat-
http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=24
The unique number will require some extra work but this should get you started.
Hope this helps,

  • "Stamping " PDF documents using "Tools / Comment &  Markup"

I used to be able to "stamp" PDF documents using "Tools/ Comment & Markup/ Stamp", then PDF the document, and the stamp became part of the document.
Now it is not "saving" the stamp. It stamp no longer shows on the PDF'd document after I run the "PDF"
    Any ideas anyone??  thanks much

  • How to Stamp a PDF Document permanently

As an author about to release eBooks in the form of PDFs (I use Indesign to create), how can I stamp ever page of a PDF with the registered user's details and make that stamp permanent? I want to do it in batch mode so that I only have to literally drag and drop my master PDF documents into a field already set with the user's registered details for the stamp to appear at the top of every page in every PDF document dropped into the field.
I have tried VeryPDF's PDFStamper tool and it does this exactly but the stamp is not permanent as I was able to remove the stamps using another program (even when the stamped PDF was batch encrypted). I have not been able to find a batch encryption program that prevented me from removing the stamps. The PDFs can not be password protected as i want the end users to be able to open them like you would start a music file that has been paid for (ipod users don't enter a pw every time they play their music files). I have researched other commercial solutions but the PDF delivery is either restricted to proprietry delivery or very expensive (upwards of US2000) alternative software.
There must be a lot of authors like me wanting to do this but I have drawn blanks at every step trying to find a solution. I wrote to Adobe about this 5 years ago and never got a reply. I've waited thinking something worthwhile would come along but so far I can't find it.
Anyone got a solution? thank you for your time and help with this.

    Hello,
I am equally interested in this as well.  I attended a publishing conference and found out that piracy is pretty high, however just like any other theft if we can take preventative measures to make it more difficult than the less worries and that most people are genuinely honest.  DRM's are very expensive and not security proof.  Through my research I came across a shopping cart ejunkie.. they describe the stamping technique as well and how to include it in the shopping card URL to eliminate passwords, etc.   I am totally a novice..
My questions if you don't mind are,
    1) How does the stamping keep people from copying the content? Is this allowing them only the ability to use with a reader but unable to print and copy?  I can't see too many people traveling in the same circle unafraid of using someone else's download with stamp or not.
    2)  I also want to ask you another question about using other services to download your ebook.  Can you email me too at pj at nobrokenhome dot com.  Thank you

  • Remove the time stamp in a PDF document

So.... I'm hoping that there's a way to remove the time stamp from a PDF document I'm working on. I can't find it in preferences and a search has been less than fruitful. Any ideas??  Thanks!

If you use the redaction tool to redact white space and then apply the redaction, it will give you the option to remove all hidden information. That should do what you wish.

  • Adding/Modifying a "Stamp" on a PDF document

Are there options within Adobe to (1) create a PDF version of a supplier's invoice, allowing the person creating the PDF file to include a "stamp" that shows what general ledger account(s) the invoice should be coded to; and (2) allow another person to edit that stamp by applying his/her initials of appproval?
A good internal control environment suggests that the person doing the initial coding should not have the authority to also apply initials of approval.  I'm thinking that there's a version of Adobe Acrobat that allows for differing levels of access to a given PDF document?
    Many thanks,
    AlbertaRedneck

You can't alter the contents of a stamp after it's placed, but another stamp can be placed on top of an existing one. The first stamp can also be flattened, converting it to regular page contents, and the initials stamped on top.

  • What Adobe product do I need in order to be able to flatten a pdf document so that my comment/stamps appear when I send to clients.

What Adobe product do I need in order to be able to flatten a pdf document so that my comment/stamps appear when I send to clients.

If your clients are opening the file with Adobe Reader, they should show even if not flattened.
If they are not and you absolutely need to flatten them, maybe the pre-press tools in Adobe Acrobat would work for you.

    BMP image?
Or Is it possible to insert any text instead of image?
But I need to work just like the stamper sample present in sdk. that is when i click on the pdf document any text has to be inserted instead of the image. I should not be to type the text in the pdf, but it should work exactly similiar to the stamper sample, but text has to be inserted instead of an image.
How can this be done? Is it possible to do?

The above was truncated and garbled a bit and I can't figure out how to edit it.  So just to repeat the question a bit more clearly: "I'm using Acrobat XI on Windows.  I want to add my company's logotype as a watermark to a PDF document.  When I add it as a file (jpeg), the logotype is printed on a white square background (because the jpeg is square with a white background of course).  It will be positioned on the PDF document on a light, uniform yellowish color, which I want to show through. • Cannot place a signature on a PDF document

I just encountered an issue with a specific PDF issued to me by a vendor. I am normally able to "place signature" on any PDF document. This one however, only allows me to place a certificate-based digital signature. How can I go about simply placing my signature on the document?
I also do not have my serial number as I purchased the software as an option through Lenovo. They don't have my serial numbers and neither does Adobe evidently. Not the greatest customer service experience I've had.

Your specific PDF may contain hidden signatures. For instance it may be Reader-enabled which includes a signature. It seems that the rights enabled by the PDF's author do not include application of stamp signatures. When you open this PDF in Reader 11, if the PDF is Reader-enabled there is a button on the top of the left pane which when you click it tells you which rights this PDF has. You need to contact this PDF's author (your vendor) to get this resolved.
I do not understand what the serial number has to do with it.

    Thanks for any hints!
    Dilettanto

    Thank you Steve,
    enclosed are my answers:
    1)  What versions are you using (Rights Management ES, Acrobat etc...)
          --> RightsManagement Server 8.2
    2)  Does this occur an ALL pdfs?  If not please postone that causes the error.
--> No - this occurs only to some PDF-documents that come from external sources and that have been PDF-stamped by some
              external tool.
Other documents can be RightsManagement-protected just fine
But how to tell, what part of those documents is the reason for the null-pointer-exception?
    3)  Can you successfully apply a policy manually using Acrobat Pro?
              will try this right now
    4)  Are you only trying to apply a policy or is it part of a larger process?
Regarding LiveCycle Server, ApplyPolicy is the only action to be done
We are using code based on the ApplyPolicy Sample

  • Automatic date/time stamp a document

Is there a way to automatically insert a date/time on a document? I have a program that allows me to alter pdf documents and I need to be able to enter the date and time. Blackberry allowed me to type "dt" and it would automatically enter it for me. Does Apple have a feature similar?

I have looked at that but haven't been able to figure out how to use or edit the stamp.  Is there a place
to set up time/date stamping, or maybe it's to be done manually?  In either case, I haven't been able to figure how to do a stamp that is anything other than the stock stamp.

  • Problem viewing secure PDF documents in Apple Preview

I have recently written an ebook that I would like to sell online. The original document was created using Pages and saved as a standard PDF. So far so good.
As a way of trying to protect the book, I would like to have it password protected, which of course I can do in Preview, however, to use a stamping feature on the server that would print the buyer's name and email on the downloaded book, I am told that I need to save the PDF as Acrobat 5 or later.
The problem I am finding is that if I save a PDF in Acrobat using any kind of security it fails to view properly inside Preview. The page contents are reduced to miniscule items that are totally unusable, but those same files open perfectly inside Acrobat.
So far the only way I can get password protected PDF files to open properly in Preview is if they are saved in Preview, however, I have found that these files are not compatible with the PHP stamping feature on the server that would add the buyer's details.
Does anybody with knowledge of Acrobat and Preview understand what is happening here and how I can resolve this issue?
    Thanks
    Ashley

Thanks Phillip I tried that but it didn't work. Something really perplexing me though is why documents saved as PDF in Acrobat with a password for opening are completely failing to view properly when opened in Preview. Try creating a simple PDF document in Acrobat with a few pages and all you get is a huge blank space with a small black dot in the middle if you try to open that file in Preview. This was my experience and a friend has just tried as well with exactly the same result.
I have an ebook here that was password protected for opening and according to the properties it was saved as Acrobat 6, however this does open properly inside Preview and her one works properly. I've been through the settings though numerous times and I am truly baffled why it's proving such a problem. The book I have written is about photography and just about every photographer I know uses a Mac, so I cannot simply ignore this question.

  • Creating unique passwords for a PDF document

I'm going to be selling a PDF eBook on the Internet.
I would like to know if there is a way to create a unique PDF password for each customer
rather than having every customer have the same password that was created in Adobe Pro.
I purchased a $20 eBook that requires you to enter a unique alpha-numeric
password (given only to me) before the Adobe file shows the eBook contents.
I was given a password upon purchasing and when I downloaded and double clicked
on the PDF file, it had the standard message
"this PDF is protected. Please enter a Document Open Password."
They company selling that product must have found a way to create unique passwords
for each customer with their PDF document.
Any help or comments would be appreciated.

George - what I will be selling is a 650-page PDF eBook.  Given the amount of content (especially the quality of the content), it's worth protecting it.  LockLizard and such products are too high for a startup like mine.  They are geared more for the enterprise business level.
Dave Merchant - I right clicked on the PDF eBook I mentioned in my original post that seems to have a unique password for each customer.  On the 'general' tab, it says at the bottom:
"Security:  This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."
I'm not sure if that tells you anything.
What's interesting is that after I cancelled the order for that $20 eBook product, the password still works - so the company using that password system either does not have the capability to revoke access or they simply forgot to revoke access to the eBook for me personally.
BTW, I found out that e-junkie.com has a PDF stamping option that will stamp each buyer's PDF with their name, email address, and transaction number.  That would help.  But I would still like to have the customer have to login with a unique password or key code to access the eBook contents.  Having tenchology that revokes access to the eBook would also be ideal, but that might be too expensive to implement.
    thanks
