Enque events and types

Hi,
In my statspack report I founf enque events are top most and different types of enques in order of wait time is as follows..
enque type Total wait in sec
US ----- 212977956
HW ----- 49579586
SQ ----- 24081760
TX ----- 5438880
CF ----- 528
TM ----- 496
I got some solutions for TX and TM types of evetns .Can you please explain me about US,HW,SQ,CF type of enques. What causes these events to occur and how to reduce.Your help is apreciated
Thanks and Regards
Anand

You can find some documentation about enqueue types here:
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96536/apb.htm#620714
US = rollback segments
SQ = sequences
CF= control files
I don't know how to interpret them precisely. They seem not to be documented in Oracle documentation. Maybe you could focus on the more high level top wait events as suggested by Tom Kyte in http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:2529871362252059812::NO::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID,F4950_P8_CRITERIA:7931218716504
you want to tune applications, not "the system".
what application is most important to you -- trace it, find what it waits on, fix
that.

  • Event and Process Types - Urgent

    Hi All,
I am little confused between Events and Process Types in a PC. How an event can be used in a PC ?
I know that SM62- To create event, SM64 – Execute Event. But how its used in PC.
Thanks in adv for your reply.

Events can be used to start the process chain based on the event raise. In order to use the events
    1. Create an event using SM62
    2. Go to your process chain start variant and select the start type as After event and give the event name which you created and then activate and schedule the process chain
3.Now go back to sm64 and trigger the event that should actually start the Process chain. This can be monitored using the Process chain log.

With 10.7.2 update iCal does not allow you to set "Reminders" by draging events from "All Day Events" into "Reminders" is there another way to do this instead of having to type out the entire reminder with date, time, and type?
With Lion 10.7.1. you where able to drag events from "All Day Events" into the "Reminders" bar to create upcoming reminders.

Exactly the same question I was about to post!
Great being able to sync reminders (well overdue) however if I have to re-type a calener envent into reminders it's a waste of time!!
    Come on Apple!!
Just need an option for the calender event to add to reminder or the old drag to add to reminder functionality back, Please???

  • Custom Events and Listeners between classes

I've got a project I've been working on for weeks that I'm
having yet another problem with. I'm trying to learn AS3 which is
why it's taking so long but that's not important for this post.
I wanted to create a custom event class so that I could make
sure the event does not interfere with other "COMPLETE" events that
are being passed between classes. In other words, I have a few
things that need to complete prior to a function being called...
one is some XML being loaded and another is a font loaded. So, I
thought I would create a custom FontLoaded class that extends Event
and make the type something like "FontLoadedEvent.LOADED". That way
I could listen for the XML "Event.COMPLETE" and this font event
    also.
Please tell me if I'm going down the wrong path here but I
don't seem to be getting the dispatched event for my new custom
event. Also, how does one detect if it's being dispatched other
than if the eventListener is fired? Any other ways to test
    this?

You can trace the event to see if it dispatched.
Also, this is not a good case to create a new event. Custom
events are used to store additional information. MouseEvent exists
because Event doesn't have localX, localY, etc. properties. Since
you don't seem to be throwing additional properties, you can use a
    regular event.
    trace(dispatchEvent(new Event("panelFontsLoaded"));
    addEventListener("panelFontsLoaded", onFontsLoaded);
Static consts are used to help debug typos. The event type is
just a string, often stored in a const.

  • Another way to look at Events and albums (smart and dumb)

Maybe this will help others, but I had an epiphany regarding iPhoto 08 and the organizational method (or lack there of) in regards to Events and albums, etc.
Here it goes: iPhoto is now iTunes for pictures. I know it has been said before, but this time it truly is.
When you import a CD with iTunes, it creates a directory of songs in your library. When you import a group of pictures in iPhoto, it similarly imports them as an event. Events = CD's, plain and simple.
Think of searching for photos the same way you would search for songs. By typing in the artist, the album the specific title - etc you can easily find a song. With events, all the pictures are linked to the title of the event, so searching is very easy and fast.
Gone are the days of complicated hierarchy systems in Winamp or iPhoto 06. If you want a photo, you type the name of the event - or a keyword tagged into the photo.
But say you want some albums of specific songs, or in this case, photos. You can create albums or smart albums to accomplish this for quick access. Or maybe a Christmas album that automatically updates with every christmas photo entered and tagged.
I am an Aperture user and all my folders are setup like this:
    Vacations --> Beach --> Florida --> 2007
If I switched to iPhoto, they will be created in a simple event, for example:
    Florida Beach Vacation 2007
Now every picture within that event name would be searchable by typing in florida, beach etc. Even deeper, by tagging individual photos by the person's name or any other photo-specific info, these pics would even be more searchable.
Anyway, I hope this helps some people grasp the new concepts of organization in iPhoto 08. Surely it can be done several different ways, but I think this may be the best way to do it.

Events = CD's, plain and simple.
Great analogy! May I then add,
    Albums = playlists
I see people here asking why a photo can't be in an album and in No event; perhaps the iTunes analogy would be helpful to them. If you don't have the song in your library (because you don't have that CD) then you can't put it in a playlist. (Nevermind that you can download single songs now - it doesn't fit the analogy. Remember when you had to buy the hard copy.)
    Thanks for the information.
    Regards.

  • Re: Service Object events and LockMgr

On the option that you have considered, I have implemented the same model
in my previous project (using Java/RMI), but I felt that it is more than
what is normally needed for concurrency protection.
I can suggest another option that is worth considering which is in place in
    our app for concurrency.
Almost every table in our db has created By, created On, modifed By,
modified On columns. The parent class of all business objects has
attributes that correspond to these four columns. In addition to these
four, there is a fifth attribute (introduced when concurrency was built)
called originalModifiedOn. Upon retrieval from the db, it is set to
modifiedOn value (from the db), during UPDATE, the value in this column is
added part of the WHERE clause. So when the second user tried to do save
the same object, the underlying db update will get a 'zero rows updated'
which is translated into an application error 'possible concurrency
error'. The user re-retreives the now 'stale' object before applying their
    edits.
A lot of these things are and can be built into the framework imposing very
little work that each Object needs to do to have concurrency protection.
I am not sure if there is a mention in the Patterns paper of this model,
but it is very easy to implement and supports what is needed.

    Hi folks,
We're currently looking at strategies for dealing with the simultaneous
updates to the database from multiple clients (concurrency
management). That is when two (or more) clients load the same object to
edit it, then make different changes and save them to the database.
We have a copy of a Forté document (from the "Patterns" course, I
think) which describes three methods of dealing with this:
    1) Lock the database table row as soon as a client select it for editing
and hold the lock until it is saved.
    2) Immediately before 'saving' check that the database hasn't changed
(either by reading what's there before updating, or by using a huge
'where' clause that contains all unchanged fields)
    3) The Forté "LockMgr" pattern, which uses a service object with notifier
proxies to allow locking and updating notification between the clients.
Option 3 is obviously the most robust method, but it requires a fair
amount of coding and could also be a bottleneck for database reads and
    writes.
But I have another option for which I was looking for opinions. What if
we had a "Change Event manager" which broadcast an event every time
a change is made to the database. Each business class would have its
own event. If the event had the object's primary key as a parameter, then
clients editing that particular object type could check to see if the object
currently on screen is the one that changed. That way you could disable
the 'save' until they had refreshed their on-screen data.
It's not particularily elegant, but it's reasonably simple to implement. It
also deals with changes sent across our WAN from other database
    servers.
But this option is only worthwhile if you can replicate the "Change Event
manager" SO and still register for an event on the client. Can clients
register for SO events and receive an event generated by any of the SO's
replicates? Or when you register for an SO's event do you register for
only one instance of the SO?
Thanks in advance for any answers.

    Hi,
Just wonder exactly how this Lock Manager can be implemented. Do you mean that you are
going to cache every object that is instantiated from the database? Or you just cache
the object id, primary key, etc?
Frankly speaking, I won't attempt to due with this kind of currency coding myself as
the database vendor has spent years in coding just to do this.
    Regards.

I would recommend you to use the following approach (of course if you
do not have some special requirements :) ):
    1. You should have a LockManager that will synchronize all clients in
their attempt to modify/delete objects in your application.
    2. Each client, when attempts to modify/delete some object, it must
LOCK it using the services provided with the LockManager.
    3. The requested operation can be performed only after successful
    locking.
    4. If a lock can not be obtained (for example if the object is already
locked by some other client) then the operation is aborted.
The details of this pattern depends on your needs. :)
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
By default, Event Log Online Help redirects to
Events and Errors Message Center. It seems that the path of
MicrosoftRedirectionURL is incorrect. Please look into the following registry and modify  the URL path:
    1)
    Click Start and type:
    regedit in the Search box.
    2)
Open Registry Editor and find the entry:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EventViewer
    3)
    Double click the
MicrosoftRedirectionURL and change the path using:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp
    The above link navigates to

I am trying with some of the tutorials of SOA Suite 11g for EDN. I have a doubt regarding even handling in the following scenario:
Events are used for 'fire and forget' scenario and is a solution that does not depend on the underlying messaging technology. I have a composite subscribed to
an event, assume that for some reason the composite is not available when the event is raised. Then
    - What will happen to the raised event? Will it be lost or will the event stored in any queue? If its stored, where this will be stored?
    - And how should i take care of this composite unavailability scenario? As my requirement is doing set of activities when the event is raised, if the composite is unavailable for some
reason then the raised event will not be handled then its an issue with functional flow.
Please let me know about this.
    Thanks
    Siva

I was trying the same scenario, raising the event from UI but no subscribed composite exists. When i see the EDN log it was shown like below.
NewCustomer is the event and has payload of CustomerId. The log shows the entries for both enqueuing the event and Dequeued event.
Seems to be event will not be stored if no subscribers exist or may be any other settings required. Not sure though, any insights?

  • Start workflow with f. module to trigger event and how to pass data to BOR?

    Hi,
I have a custom BOR object, with Event "Created". I have also an attribute in this BOR, just simple field Plant.
I have prepared a custom Workflow which is triggered when event Created of that custom BOR business object is raised.
To raise an event and to start a workflow I run f. module SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT.
I have a problem to pass a Plant value to the Workflow container. In the PFTC_CHG for my Workflow I made the container
of BOR object, and the data binding &_EVT_OBJECT& => &MATREQ&  (symbol of my BOR).
Below both of EVTOBJECT and MATREQ I can see my field Plant.
Then I run f. module SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT with tables parameter input_container.
I try to fill the data in many ways, but the started workflow does not have Plant filled.
I try to use '_EVT_OBJECT.WERKS' in field name for input_container parameters.
Business Object is passed to the Workflow container, but I do not get the fields
as attributes. Do I have to use the parameters for the event Created ?
    Thank you in advance
    Wojtek

    Hello,
I've never used GUID as a key but I suppose the principles are the same - the object instance is equivalent to "something", say a widget.
This widget has attributes, e.g. the factory where it was created, the day it was created, its weight etc.
If you make a widget BOR object and you specify attributes then you're telling SAP how, given the key, it can deduce the value of the attributes. Widget 1234's weight can be looked up in table XXX by doing this select.
If you pass an object instance to a workflow then all you need to pass is the type of object and the key, the rest can be done by the workflow (or any other program). It can instantiate the object, and the attribute values are immediately available.
If you can instantiate the object in SWO1 and the attributes get values, then it should work in the workflow as well.
If not, please provide the code of the attribute or describe how it finds the attribute value.

  • [JClient 9.0.3] Trapping events and canceling actions

Subject: [JClient 9.0.3] Trapping events and canceling actions
I'd like to be able to, based on some condition, abort certain
actions (navigate, delete, insert, etc, etc) when the appropriate
    events have been fired.
E.g., in case the Transaction is dirty and when I navigate to a
certain row in a certain ViewObject instance, I would like to
intercept this action and let the user decide what to do:
Commit/Rollback/Cancel. Of cource when 'Cancel' is selected, the
navigation-action should be aborted at all.
I have realised this functionality by subclassing JUNavigationBar
and either calling super's actionPerformed() or not. This works
perfectly, but of course there are other means to navigate (a
JComboBox + NavigationBinding, a JTable or programmatically), so
I would need to implement similar functionality for each of these
    component types.
So, what I need to do is to intercept these actions on a lower
level. It appears that I need to register RowSetListeners to
ViewObject instances, but as far as I can tell, this way there
isn't a real way to abort these actions once they are started.
Am I pherhaps overlooking something? Any help and/or suggestions
    would be greatly appreciated.

Also BC4J does not generate 'events' before navigation to preempt navigation unless a row is 'modified' in which case RowValidation events are generated for the Entities modified in that row.
The most generic way you may fix this is by 'listening' to rowsetiterator's navigation events and get the PreviousRow from the navigation events and set focus back to it if user presses cancel, or get the current RowKey and let the user commit/rollback and then restore the currency to a row with that rowkey (just in case the MT is set to clear all caches on commit/rollback transaction boundaries). Note that insert/delete events should not be handled this way as those event points are usually generated due to a button action and it's easier to preempt these actions rather than 'let the actions' complete and then perform a rollback-to-a-particular-point.

  • What does it mean by "Deprecation of MBeanHome and Type-Safe Interfaces" ?

    The "Javadoc" for the type safe WebLogic MBean interfaces have this disclaimer;
Deprecation of MBeanHome and Type-Safe Interfaces... This is a type-safe interface for a WebLogic Server MBean, which you can import into your client classes and access through weblogic.management.MBeanHome. As of 9.0, the MBeanHome interface and all type-safe interfaces for WebLogic Server MBeans are deprecated. Instead, client classes that interact with WebLogic Server MBeans should use standard JMX design patterns in which clients use the javax.management.MBeanServerConnection interface to discover MBeans, attributes, and attribute types at runtime.
    Link: http://otndnld.oracle.co.jp/document/products/wls/docs100/javadocs_mhome/weblogic/management/configuration/DomainMBean.html
    I don't understand what this means;
    1) Is all the WebLogic MBean interfaces in the "weblogic.management.configuration.*" deprecated?
    2) Is the usage of MBeanTypeService also deprecated. since it requires the an WebLogic MBean interface as input for it's getMBeanInfo method?
    3) If the WebLogic MBean interfaces will dispear, wil there be any reliable source for type information about WebLogic MBean since the information returned by MBeanTypeService.getMbeanInfo(), MBeanserver.getMbeanInfo() or WebLogicObjectName.getMbeanInfo() isn't consist in its naming schemes (tries to but..)?

    Hi,
While scheduling background job, you can trigger the job based on existing job status as dependency or schedule the job based on the SAP Event.
Dependency Job like first background job completes successfully then second followup job will executed other job will not triggered.
Event Jobs: While importing data through transportation, some RDD* jobs automatically triggers. These are event based jobs.

  • Enque events

    Hi,
Wht is mean by enque events. In my statspack report the top most event is enque.
Can you pls give me some expalanation or link where i can get more info
    Thanks
    Anand

You can find some documentation about enqueue types here:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96536/apb.htm#620714
    US = rollback segments
    SQ = sequences
    CF= control files
I don't know how to interpret them precisely. They seem not to be documented in Oracle documentation. Maybe you could focus on the more high level top wait events as suggested by Tom Kyte in http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:2529871362252059812::NO::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID,F4950_P8_CRITERIA:7931218716504
you want to tune applications, not "the system".
what application is most important to you -- trace it, find what it waits on, fix
    that.
