Enterprise License with ETL Option

We have the Enterprise License of OWB 10R2 - but have not purchased any of the ETL Options.. Some seem VERY critical - SCD2 support, Target Load Ordering, Scheduling of Maps, etc.
Does anyone run OWB with just the Enterprise License in a production environment.. I am just trying to figure out if we need to explore this with our sales rep OR have people had success without these ETL options.
thanks
OBX

I'm probably not really the person you want to hear from, but I have had some experiences in this area that I can share.
I have purchased both the Enterprise ETL and Data Quality options, but while I was negotiating with Oracle on licensing (which took several months) we almost went live with 10.2 without using the options. Honestly, the only really important feature that I had to have was the Configurations. We run 2 separate data warehouses for 2 of our businesses, but both share a common set of code. The configurations allow you to set target specific configurations against the same mappings, tables etc which simplifies deployment significantly for me.
Scheduling has a major shortcoming: you cannot set runtime parameters and unfortunately, I am unable to use it even though it came at quite a price.
I have been through a fair bit of pain with bugs too. I have 5 custom patches resulting from bugs and have 2 more Sev 1 SRs currently open, waiting for patches. Having siad that, considering the scale of changes in 10.2, they have done pretty well for a first release.
If you are using an earlier version of OWB, my opinion is you will be fine with 10.2 without the options. There are some nice features that you will no doubt find useful in the options, but they do come at a price if you have many users or CPUs.

  • Windows 10 TP Enterprise Edition with the option to create an account for a child?

    Hi there,
I've installed the W10 TP Enterprise Edition in a stable VMware Workstation and tried to create another user accout. But this fails because you can only create an account with an email account. This system should handle both: creating local user accounts
and domain accounts. Creating a local user account for a child in the enterprise environment is absolutely crazy and senseless. A technical preview should handle this. If the GUI fails - ok. But the functionality behind should work. Sorry, but this preview
makes sense like a hole in my head. I will delete it from the VM. Wellcome Linux.

  • Ad Hoc distribution under Enterprise license

    Hi,
I have a customer who's workforce has a 1,000 iPads and is interested in distributing their publications either Ad-Hoc or through Internal Distribution, without going through the Apple Store. Are there any issues, limitations using the Enterprise License with Adobe DPS?
I understand Apple has a 100 unit limit on Ad-Hoc using the Developer License.
    Tony

Apple has a 100 device limit per provisioning profile for ad hoc distribution. It's a cumbersome method at best and won't scale easily to 1000 ipads.
The correct solution for this type of desired behaviour is an Apple Enterprise license and DPS. This will let you build an app that can be distributed outside the Apple app store, to your employees only. Depending on theneed to control the level of access to content, folios can either published as public free ( controlling access by controlling the app distribution) or published as public/retail using the direct entitlement APIs to provide login level access to the folio within the app.

Documentation says that "Without the Enterprise ETL option, you can install the Warehouse Builder repository in a Real Applications Cluster environment for the limited purposes of executing in that environment". What means "limited" ??

  • Deployment without using enterprise etl options

I've been burnt by Oracle again! After happily upgrading to 10.2 and shooting off "several toes" creating multiple control centers and configurations, I'm now ready to start deploying from dev to test to qa to prod.
While fighting several bugs in OWB regarding deployment, I see in the fine, fine print that multiple configurations are licensed as part of the enterprise etl option. Translation: another 100k plus to Oracle for something that I thought came out of the box for free. After all, we could deploy to various location using version 10.1.
So now I have to figure out how to move all these mappings and process flows we've created without a key component or pay Larry more money.
I need help! Other than using multiple configuration, control centers, and, I guess, a unified repository, what are my options?
    Multiple OWB development repositories?
OMBPlus to hand write everything that the multiple configuration option would do? (I suppose that is a violation of the license agreement too)
Multiple control centers and tweaking the default_configuration every time we change something? (Again, I suppose I could do that with OMB)
SQL Script Exports and code hacks?
Any ideas or links would be appreciated!

    Hello.
    Interesting problem eh?
I myself am going down this path, we have the Database licence so I am simply building a design repository in each region in my SDLC so one in DEV, TEST, QA, PROD. etc
I create a corresponding Runtime in each Region to match the Design Client. I do not use multi configuration in the Design Client!
For Release I migrate an MDL file and an XML deployment file. The MDL is simply for meta data publishing into next region, and if the needs arise it can be used for a hot fix and backward porting to DEV etc.
Using OMBPLUS i generate the MDL file and XML file in DEV region. Using OMBPLus I import MDL file into next region, and deploy XML file(DEV version) straight into Target runtime. Use OMBPLUS to sort out runtime connection details etc.
I Source Code control the XML and MDL files. So i have multiple layers of recovery points.
The concept is static XML file generated in DEV thats deployed into Each region up the chain. The DDL are being done in straight sql.
Using the Database wrapper proc I call the runtime and execute the mappings from dbms scheduler.
    So the release process goes:
    sqlplus DDL changes
OMBPLUS MDL import and XML deployment
    sqlplus run schedules
So with consitent naming standards and development processes, its just the same release cycle with a bit in the middle to handle mdl and xml files via ombplus.
You get your transfer of responsibility from dev team to support team, dev team using ombplus to create the release plcode objects, the support team using the same ombplus programmes deploy the xml file into the target region and import the metadata.
You can mix and match how much, how little you want to use OWB.
Give us an update on how you proceed. As its an interesting topic.
    Regards,
    Richard.

  • Confused if i need the enterprise DPS along with enterprise license from Apple

Do I need to buy the Enterprise DPS if I already have a Enterprise developers license with Apple? I want to develope in-house apps with indesign but everywhere i read no body gives a straight answer.
I have "creative cloud membership" which includes a single edition DPS already so I have single edition DPS now. I want to build an app using indesign and dps but host it on my own server. Can I do this with my single edition along with my enterprise developer licnese from Apple? Or do I have to buy the enterprise DPS to go along with my enterprise developers license from Apple?
    thank you for your time
    Darian

You will need an Enterprise DPS account along with the Enterprise Apple account. There is nothing ambiguous about this.
And you really need to read Apple’s license very carefully about private distribution. They are very strict about anything not going through the app strore.

  • Adobe Nag Screen, Version 7.1.3 Professional, Even with Enterprise License

For Acrobat version 7.1.3, using an enterprise license, adobe displays a large dialog box over the content asking me to register on line, every time we start it. Even to just read a PDF. Our IT folks have tried to call or email Adobe to provide the key, etc, but they say Adobe will not allow registrations for this version. We have tried just entering the key by following the path started by the Adobe nag screen, but it says the key on the enterprise licence is now invalid. How can we get rid of the nag screen, register, something, to use the product? Thanks

Agree that this does not make sense. The license key is perfectly valid. 100% on that. I was standing with one of the IT folks when they called Adobe read the key from the box, to find out why we couldn't register anymore. The response was that this is an old version that Adobe is not supporting, so it will not register online and they could not register over the phone, either. Still makes no sense. If Adobe will not register it because it is an old version, then why require the nag screen? I had been using a this version before until a couple months ago when my agency switched to Vista. This was meerly a reinstall. Previously, my copy did not have to be regisrtered by me. it appeared to have either happened automatically or by one of the IT folks doing it online.

  • What will I do with the SQL Server (2012/2014) (Standard/Enterprise) Licenses?

What will I do with the SQL Server (2012/2014) (Standard/Enterprise) Licenses?
Are these the same as software product keys, or just some pieces of paper the company needs to have on hand?
In which case, when we install SQL Server 2014, (and when looked for videos) - there is only 1 product key value to be put in, is there some other screen in the setup to input the License bought ( in our case will be Core licenses).
So in addition to the Core Licenses do will a Product key be needed? Would product key from an msdn work, as it is the licenses that we will buy to indicate that we bought to run the software on server X?
    Thanks for any indications.

I will answer your question point wise
    1. Keeping license key is good idea it helps you during audit and you have proof that you are using a valid Microsoft License. Plus in scenario of disaster where whole box gets damanged you might need to install SQL Server again in that case during
reinstallation on setup page where you need to enter key you might need need it. If you are missing your paper then you are in trouble.
    2. Only on product key page license key is required and it is not required anywhere else during installation. Unless you enter valid product key installation will not proceed further.
3 License makes you a valid owner of Microsoft product with restrictions on how much hardware resource you can use how much max connections you can make etc. Key lets you install it on Windows machine making sure that you are using valid Microsoft product.
This was just a general idea please speak to your licensing specialist for more details. This is technical forum and we generally ask user to speak to licensing expert for such queries.

  • Urgent !!! - 'Advance with Dialog' option with Enterprise Portal - Reg

    Hi Gurus,
I have the following requirement. My system is Ecc 6.0 When the user rejects an expenses report, he/she needs to put the comments for which i have a custom method to pop-up a box for entering the comments. I have this task with 'Advance with Dialog' option. This works fine. But, when the workitem is executed through Enterprise Portal, the 'Advance with Dialog' option is not working and the user is receiving a separate witem(after refreshing his UWL) for this task. This is not what i want.
Can anybody tell me how to do it, IF it is POSSIBLE.
I went through SDN and found Raja sekhar's blog below where it was told this option is not available as in Dec, 2005.
I was just wondering if anybody can tell if this option still doesn't work in E.P ?
If not, can you tell me anyother way to get this functionality work. I need some pop-up for entering the reasons for rejection.
See below for the blog that i referred to :
Advance with Dialog - is not working in E.P.
As this is very urgent, your immediate response is highly appreciated and rewarded.
    Thanks in advance,
    venu

    Hi Venu,
the later versions UWL supports a property called UserDecisionNote for the UserDecisionHandler action: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/7a/df014b037141ca9afc6433ed42b519/frameset.htm
With this functionality, you can achieve what you need (= UWL asks for the rejection reason immediately after clicking on Reject).
    Hope this helps,
    Mikko

  • To install Remote Desktop Services User CAL on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP1

    Dear Sir,
Presently we have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP 1. And now i would like to install Remote Desktop Services User CAL on this server. I have 25 digit product key of Windows Server
2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services User CAL (20). Downloaded this product key from our MSDN Subscriptions.
Kindly suggest me how to install (CAL server with product key that i have) and configure remote desktop services on my above existing server also how to point other server with my CAL server.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. Install Remote Desktop Session Host and Remote Desktop Licensing Role Services using Server Manager.
    2. Open RD Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe), Activate your server, then install your license
    3. In RD Session Host Configuration (tsconfig.msc), set the Licensing mode to Per User and Specify your RD Licensing server name (itself).  If you want you may configure these two settings via group policy setting instead.  The path of the
group policy settings is Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Licensing
    4. You may point other RDSH servers to your RD Licensing server using RD Session Host Configuration or via group policy as mentioned above.
    5. Optionally you may consider installing other Remote Desktop Role Services such as RD Gateway, RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker, etc.

  • Warehouse Builder ETL Option

We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.2.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.2.8. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.2.0). OWB is installed on Sun 64 bit server.
There are various ETL options for OWB such as Enterprise ETL Option, DQ ETL option etc.
How do we find the actual option of installed ETL option?
It does not show up in OWB/help/About or session properties.
Do we need to query some system tables to figure this out?
    Thanks in advance.
    RI

    Hi.
there is just one installation. Having installed OWB, you can technically use all features. It's just a question of the license what you are allowed to use.

  • Enterprise License Manager Sync Problem

    Hi.
I have CUCM 9.1 & Enterprise License Manager. I have installed licenses on Enterprise License Manager and in inventory added CUCM.
Everyting worked fine for 20 days, but from yesterday CUCM  is showing below error:-
"The system has not synchronized successfully with Enterprise License Manager for 7 days. If successful synchronization does not occur within the next 53 days, you will no longer be able to provision users and devices."
In Enterprise license manager CUCM status is "Registration Conflict". It also show :-"This product instance is already being managed by another Enterprise License Manager. Product Instances can only be managed by a single Enterprise License Manager. To manage the product instance with this Enterprise License Manager, delete it from this and the other Enterprise License Manager, and then add it to this one."
Also below message is displayed in Enterprise License Manager:-
"Enterprise License Manager is operating in demo mode. Install licenses to cover the licensing requirements of your product instances in order to avoid losing functionality in those products."
Please help to solve this problem.
    Regards,
    Andy

    Hi Neo,
I have never tried but recommended would be to go for maintenance window.
Further, the message posted says The system has not synchronized successfully with Enterprise License Manager for 7 days. If successful synchronization does not occur within the next 53 days, you will no longer be able to provision users and devices.
This means it can be done but why to take a chance.
