Entity Collection Screen Appears Depending on Order of Parent Instance

Hello,
I'm looking for help with a strange screen behaviour, the cause of which has proved elusive.
<h4>Problem in Brief:</h4>
An entity collection screen is appearing in Web Determinations depending on the order in which instances of an entity were entered on a previous entity collection screen.
- Entity 1: Members of the Family (the person). The instances of Entity 1 are grouped into two categories using inferred relationships: the parents, and the children.
---> Entity 2: Reason for Care (the reason for care). This entity is contained in Entity 1 and has a key attribute, the end date.
<h4>Details:</h4>
I think I've narrowed the cause to a rule that calculates the earliest end date among the reasons for care. The rule is specific to the reasons for care of the parents only. There are no rules that sum across, minimize across, maximize across, etc., all members of the family. A colleague and I have carefully audited the rules and I can almost guarantee that every rule has been written to "check" only the parents.
The reason I'm calling this a "strange" behaviour is that it depends on the order in which the Members of the Family instances are entered on the entity collection screen. If the child is entered first, the screen will appear asking for the child's reason for care (this should not happen because a child's reason for care should not impact the rules). If the parent is entered first, the reasons-for-care screen will appear for the parent (as it should) and then not appear for the child (which is correct). So the behaviour is only incorrect when the child is entered first.
<h4>Anthropomorphic Interpretation:</h4>
It's almost as if the rule engine ignores, or somehow doesn't realize, the fact that it does not require any reason(s) for care for the child - at least until it has at least one instance in the Reason for Care entity.
<h4>Example:</h4>
Assume a 2-person family: Mary (the parent), and Billy (the child). I've taken screenshots to illustrate how the rulebase reasons for the earliest end date.
Before entering any Reasons for Care (appears the same no matter which family-member instance was entered first): http://imgur.com/a/xk0Rt#uqGLx
- The conclusion at the top is specific to Mary, but towards the bottom, we see that it seems to be checking for reasons for care for both family members (indicated by arrow).
When the child instance is entered first, and a reason for care is entered for the child (Employability Program), the earliest end date is still unknown: http://imgur.com/a/xk0Rt#1nvKT
When the parent instance is entered first, and a reason for care is entered for the parent, the earliest end date is known: http://imgur.com/a/xk0Rt#P0WZw
Rule in question: http://i.imgur.com/2wQkU.png
I realize this is a tough one and I've tried to provide enough information without going overboard. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
- Patrick

Hello again,
I believe the following behaviour is related to the screen issue I've described above.
When working with decision reports I've been able to demonstrate that the conclusion of an inferred relationship is not enough to preclude OPA from "looking at" the instances that are not members of that relationship, and I think this is what is driving the unwanted screen.
Demonstration
Again, working with the child / parent model, I've set up a demo family with Mother, Father, and Child (please ignore unrealistic DOBs):
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#3
The inferred relationship seems to be working correctly:
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#4
Now let's take a top level goal that should look at only the children in the family (please ignore improper attribute naming of "Name"):
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#5
But the resulting decision report displays the 'Name' attribute for parents too (in this case, it's the parents who should not be appearing - the reverse of the above issue):
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#1
However, if we add an additional condition - the same condition that is used to prove the inferred relationship - the decision report no longer shows the 'Name' attribute for the parents:
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#6
http://imgur.com/a/SvqAV#2
I'm attempting to apply this principle (using the condition of the inferred relationship, rather than the conclusion) to the unwanted screen issue, with mixed success. I'm hoping that someone can look at this and either (a) correct my misunderstanding, or (b) validate that there seems to be an issue.
Thanks!

  • Blue screen appears

I've bought my S10e in April 2009. it worked properly until a month ago when i was browsing, this blue screen appears suddenly and Windows (XP SP3, home edition) restarts. It happens too fast that i cannot read the message. after logging in this message rises: the system has recovered from a serious error.... and i send the issue to Microsoft. I use Google Chrome as browser. I think when i'm online using WiFi, it happens. I uninstalled chrome but it happened again with Firefox when it tried to open a web page reporting the problem to Microsoft.
I used the check disk tool in Windows but didn't help. I've two drives, Windows run on C: capacity=30 GB, free space=4 GB.
I've run CCleaner to optimize registry before these blue screens.
I also have Kaspersky Internet security installed on my netbook. it works fine.
    I've got all Microsoft updates.
Is it the problem of bios? or what?
please help me because i'm very dependent on my S10e.
    Thanks

your 13-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro requires 1066 MHz RAM, but you have 1333 MHz RAM installed. Try replacing the 1333 MHz RAM with 1066 MHz RAM — Macs can be picky about the RAM which they find acceptable.

Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • What is happening to my Mac.only blue screen appears

After I download the latest firmware and itune I'm getting this blue screen when i open my computer.anyone have the same problem?

Disconnect all wired peripherals, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
After logging in, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)

  • HT3910 a blue screen appears at the start up

When I start my macbookpro a blue screen appears and stays. Nothing further happens ; can anyone help please?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Voice control   blue screen appears while I play musice and either stops song, switches to another.  Hitting cancel or pressing home key at first worked but now it is not.  How to stop this?

Ok.  So I can be doing just about anything while my ipod is playing and then this voice control screen appears wih the blue screen.  I can shut it down and then turn it on after a while but that may or may not stop the problem.  Even if I have it locked this happens.
Even when I hit the home key or slide cancel, this keeps happening.  It is very annoying.
    How do I stop this?

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still a problem you likely have a hardware porblem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Changing screen sequence in sales order header

    Hi Folks
we have a requirement to change the sequence of the screens which appear in sales order header and we need to add an additional custom screen.
Request you all to suggest how we can achieve this functionality.

    Hi,
REquest you to take the help of ABAPer and do the modification in standard Program
But instead of creating a new custom tab you can use additional data B tab to cater  your requirement. Its given blank in standard so that we can modify as per our requirement .So the same will be reflected in all screen no. 4013

  • Why does the apple icon come on then off then a white screen appears?

Why does the apple icon come on then off then a white screen appears?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hi, having trouble with my iMac on startup. Background screen appears, but no icons,

Having trouble with my iMac- on startup, the background screen appears, but no icons. The spinning beach ball appears for quite a long while, then when the icons finally come up, when I open a finder window, the only icons to appear are the Network and Macintosh HD icons. I've tried to repair disk permissions: this came up with heaps of errors, which it then fixed, but the original problem remains.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards.
    Same problem(s) in safe mode?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Entity-level screen text substitution

I am trying to create an entity-level attribute that will allow me to substitute text on an entity-level screen.
My data model is: Global --> the employer --> the date of the absence from work. When asking about each absence, I want to display the name of the employer on the screen. Because you can only substitute (using public names) attributes at the same entity level as the screen, I need to make an attribute at the level of the absence that is equivalent to the name of the employer.
    How do I do this?
(I suspect that I need to use ForScope(), but it's not clear to me how to use this to assign a value to a text attribute.)
Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

I'm assuming you know how to set up regular substitution where everything is at the same entity level, so I won't go into that.
To substitute the name of the employer into labels on screens at the entity level below (the 'absence' level), you need to create an attribute at the 'absence' entity level, then infer its value based on the name of the employer. You'll need to use the 'For' function, and the reverse text of the relationship from Employer --> Absence
There was a related question asked yesterday on the forum (Refering to entity instances from a more specific entity context I'll use the example from that to explain:
    We have the following entities:
Global -- one-to-many --> the cat (Relationship text: the cats)
the cat -- one-to-many --> the cat's toys (Relationship text: the cat's toys; Reverse relationship text: the toy of the cat)
To substitute in the name of the cat into a label on a question screen about the cat's toy, I need to create an attribute at the entity level of the cat's toy ("the cat's toy name substitution variable" in this example). Then set it to be equal to the variable which collects the cat's name ("the cat" in this example), using the 'For' function and the reverse relationship text:
the cat's toy name substitution variable = For(the toy of the cat, the cat)Then create a public name for "the cat's toy name substitution variable" (e.g. "CatNameSubstitution"), then plug that into the screen label in the usual way, i.e. %CatNameSubstitution%. Since the substitution variable is at the entity level of the cat's toy, it will work.

  • Create a network safe data collection screen

I am trying to create a data collection screen that will be fool proof if the network should have to fail.
I have created an irpt page that allows inputs and does calculations of this data.  I will also have an irpt page that will replace our error page that will appear when the network fails.
The question is can I have the data append to an xml file or append a text file locally on the hard drive?  Can I have it smart enough that it will ping the network and/or the database.  If everything is up and running to upload the data, delete the xml or text file and reload the original irpt page?

You can also try using AJAX. Maybe make a HTTP call to the backend every few seconds and if the network is down, maybe give a pop-up. GMail does the same thing if it fails to send your mail, for e.g.
But be forewarned that the moment you close the web page, your data will be lost and there will be no way of getting it back. Alternatively you can save the data on the server (using AJAX, again) every few seconds and then when the network is down maybe warn the user with a popup. This way the last saved data will still be available to you.

  • White screen appear and my home button does not work

My ipod home button is not working
I went online reading for what happens when white screen appears
I tried it and i realize it might not work because my home button stop working
should i go to an ishop or will i be able to fix it?
I hook up my ipod to the computer and its not reading it anymore...
    (4th generation)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Neglect the Restt. When it says place the iPod in recovery mode use one of these programs
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Screen appearance of Elements Organizer 9

I have just upgraded from Elements 8 to Elements 9.
In Elements 8 there was a Preferences option to change the screen appearance of the Organizer interface, essentially to darken the area surrounding the thumbnails rather than having a middle-grey background.  I can't find that option anywhere in Elements 9.  Why not, or where is it?  And if that option has been taken away, I'd like it put back in the next upgrade or version.  Every other software I own lets me tailor the "skin" of the software to my own preferences, why does Adobe feel its latest software should deprive users of even that minimal level of customization of the interface?
BTW I find the thingy at the top of the screen, which you click on to reveal the Organizer Menu drop-down, is nearly invisible in the default appearance of Elements 9.  This is a horrible design decision by someone at Adobe, IMO -- with Elements 8, at least the drop-down thingy you clicked on to reveal the menu was WHITE, not the same shade of dark grey that the surrounding area is (rendering it nearly impossible to locate in Elements 9).  Why on earth did you did this in version 9 when it wasn't like that in 8, Adobe, and please fix it.  This is ridiculous.  (One of the reasons I want to change the screen appearance in 9, if that's possible, is in hopes of making that thingy easier to find.)  It wasn't broken in version 8, so why "fix" it in version 9?
Moreover, why can't we simply have the option of always having visible the File, Edit, Find, etc menus at the top of the screen so one doesn't have to click on that thingy every time you need a menu?  I know Microsoft made the decision to hide all the Windows menus unless you know to press the Alt key, in Windows 7, but at least they give you the option of leaving the menus where they always were in previous versions.  Maybe some people think those menus are "screen clutter," but a lot of us users don't and have got used to them over the years, and no one asked us about whether we thought it was clutter and wanted it to be hidden.  If it isn't possible to keep those menus always visible in the Organizer (and Photoshop Elements Edit) interface, then how about giving us that option in the next upgrade or version, please?  If it is possible to do this now, I can't find anywhere in the software for that choice, please let me know where it is.
    Thanks.

I'm not arguing that it's not annoying--I'm not a fan of the organizer in any way, shape, or form, myself. The link works fine for me, but here's the text. It was done for earlier versions of PSE but still pertains:
Setting the Windows text size too large
    [PSE 6, 7, 8]
This FAQ is not being maintained and may be out-of-date
If you set your Windows display to have a text size larger than 100%, PSE will exhibit some glitches in its user interface.  (On XP and Vista, the text size is called “DPI” – dots per inch – and 96 DPI is equivalent to 100% in Windows 7.)  Many newer, high-resolution displays and laptop screens are set to a larger text size to make text in applications more readable.
    The glitches and workarounds include:
    -          The Organizer’s menu bar (File, Edit, etc.) won’t show up. You can either set the Windows text size back to 100% (96 DPI), or you can set the Organizer option Edit > Preferences > General > Use System Font.  With the latter, the results aren’t always the prettiest, e.g. the font in the Editor’s menu bar stays small, but the font in the dropdown menus gets large. But this workaround at least lets you keep the text size large so that you can read the text in all your other applications.
    -          The Advanced Dialog in the Photo Downloader won’t be available in PSE 8.  (That also occurs on short displays.) You’ll need to reduce the Windows text size to something less – how much depends on the resolution of your display.
    -          The Editor on Windows 7 can show a mouse cursor for some tools that looks like three distorted shadows of the true cursor.  You’ll need to reduce the Windows text size to less than 150% (149% works fine).
To change the Windows text size/DPI of your display:
XP: Start > Control Panel > Display or Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display.   Click Settings > Advanced.
Vista: Windows Start > Control Panel > Personalization > Adjust Font Size (DPI).
Windows 7: Start > Control Panel > Display. To choose a custom size, click Set Custom Text Size (DPI) on the left.
Microsoft user-interface standards require applications to support text sizes larger than100%.  This is especially important with the newer, high-resolution displays and for people with aging eyes.  Adobe has chosen not to follow the standard.
