Entity Framework - Execute Stored Procedures With Table Valued Patameter
How to pass a table valued parameter to a stored procedure in Entity Framework using ExecuteSqlCommand or SqlQuery method?
Following is my code -
DataTable dataTable=new DataTable();
dataTable.Columns.Add("col1", typeof(int));
dataTable.Columns.Add("col2", typeof(bool));
dbContext.Database.ExecuteSqlCommand("exec stored_proc @tvp",
new SqlParameter() { SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Structured, ParameterName = "@tvp", Value = dataTable }
This throws an exception saying 'The table type parameter '@tvp' must have a valid type name.'
You must set the TypeName property of the SqlParameter to the name of your table type that you have defined in the database:
SqlParameter param = new SqlParameter();
param.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Structured;
param.ParameterName = "@tvp";
param.TypeName = "dbo.YourTableType";
param.Value = dataTable;
dbContext.Database.ExecuteSqlCommand("exec stored_proc @tvp", param);
Of course you must define the table type in the database first:
CREATE TYPE dbo.YourTableType AS TABLE
( col1 int, col1 bit )
Please remember to the following page on MSDN for more information:

Hope that helps.

How to change stored procedure with Table Valued Parameter
I am not sure how to change the normal stored procedure with Table Value Parameter.Do I have to create a separate Table or do I have to create a datatype. Can you please help me with this
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[uspInsertorUpdateINF]
@dp_id char(32),
@dv_id char(32),
@em_number char(12),
@email varchar(50),
@emergency_relation char(32),
@option1 char(16),
@status char(20),
@em_id char(35),
@em_title varchar(64),
@date_hired datetime
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
MERGE [dbo].[em] AS [Targ]
USING (VALUES (@dp_id, @dv_id , @em_number, @email, @emergency_relation, @option1, @status, @em_id, @em_title, @date_hired))
AS [Sourc] (dp_id, dv_id, em_number, email, emergency_relation, option1, status, em_id, em_title, date_hired)
ON [Targ].em_id = [Sourc].em_id
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE
SET dp_id = [Sourc].dp_id,
dv_id = [Sourc].dv_id,
em_number = [Sourc].em_number,
email = [Sourc].email,
emergency_relation = [Sourc].emergency_relation,
option1 = [Sourc].option1,
status = [Sourc].status,
em_title = [Sourc].em_title,
date_hired = [Sourc].date_hired
WHEN NOT MATCHED BY TARGET THEN
INSERT (dp_id, dv_id, em_number, email, emergency_relation, option1, status, em_id, em_title,date_hired)
VALUES ([Sourc].dp_id, [Sourc].dv_id, [Sourc].em_number, [Sourc].email, [Sourc].emergency_relation, [Sourc].option1, [Sourc].status, [Sourc].em_id, [Sourc].em_title, [Sourc].date_hired);
END;It's not clear how you would change the procedure. But assuming that you want to replace the existing scalar parameters with tabular input, this is how you would do it. You first create a table type:
CREATE TYPE Insertor_type AS TABLE
(dp_id char(32),
dv_id char(32),
em_number char(12),
email varchar(50),
emergency_relation char(32),
option1 char(16),
status char(20),
em_id char(35),
em_title varchar(64),
date_hired datetime)
Then you change the procedure header:
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[uspInsertorUpdateINF] @tvp Insertor_type READONLY AS
And finally you change the USING clause:
USING (SELECT dp_id, dv_id , em_number, email, emergency_relation, option1, status, em_id, em_title, date_hired
FROM @tvp) AS [Sourc] ON [Targ].em_id = [Sourc].em_id
The rest is fine as it is.

Entity Framework - Execute Stored Procedures
I want to execute stored procedure using entity framework.
I am using entity framework 6.
The stored procedure has SELECT and RETURN statement.
How can I read the output from SELECT and RETURN statements using
dbContext.Database.ExecuteSqlCommand or dbContext.Database.SqlQuery statement ?Hello Sumit Kadam,
>> The stored procedure has SELECT and RETURN statement.
For the select statement, Entity Framework would support natively:
http://www.entityframeworktutorial.net/stored-procedure-in-entity-framework.aspx
For the return statement, we could use the dbContext.Database.SqlQuery statement as below to fetch the value:
var returnCode = new SqlParameter();
returnCode.ParameterName = "@ReturnCode";
returnCode.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int;
returnCode.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
// assign the return code to the new output parameter and pass it to the sp
var data = db.Database.SqlQuery<Order>("exec @ReturnCode = ProGetOrder", returnCode);

Calling Stored Procedure with table type as In parameter from Java
Hi Everyone,
Can anyone help me with the sample code to call a stored procedure having input parameter of Table type (consisting of multiple fields) from Java. This job is currently being done by a BPEL process.
We want to implement the same using Java.
Any sample code will be really helpful.
Thanks & Regards,
VikasTo start using a blob you have to insert it into the database and then get it back. Sounds weird but that is how it is. Here is a very simple program to do this:
#include<occi.h>
#include <iostream>
using namespace oracle::occi;
using namespace std;
int main()
try
Environment *env = Environment::createEnvironment(Environment::OBJECT);
Connection *conn = env->createConnection("hr","hr","");
string stmt1 = "insert into blob_tab values (:1) ";
string stmt2 = "select col1 from blob_tab";
Blob blob(conn);
blob.setEmpty(conn);
Statement *stmtObj = conn->createStatement(stmt1);
stmtObj->setBlob(1,blob);
stmtObj->executeUpdate();
conn->commit();
Blob blob1(conn);
Statement *stmtObj2 = conn->createStatement(stmt2);
ResultSet *rs = stmtObj2->executeQuery();
while(rs->next())
blob1 = rs->getBlob(1);
string stmt3 = "begin my_proc(:1) ;end;";
Statement *stmtObj3 = conn->createStatement(stmt3);
stmtObj3->setBlob(1,blob1);
stmtObj3->executeUpdate();
catch (SQLException e)
cout << e.getMessage();
/* The tables and procedure are primitive but ok for demo
create table blob_tab(col1 blob);
create or replace procedure my_proc(arg in blob)
as
begin
-- just a putline here. you can do other more meaningful operations with the blob here
dbms_output.put_line('hello');
end;
}Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Create stored procedure with table from another schema throws PLS-00201
Oracle 10g. I'm new to procedures, so maybe I'm missing something obvious.
Schema owner ABC has table T2001_WRITEOFF. The SYSDBAs granted SIUD to Some_Update_Role, and granted that role to developer user IJK. User IJK then created a private synonym T2001_WRITEOFF for ABC.T2001_WRITEOFF. This worked with normal SQL DML commands.
When I try to create a simple procedure as follows, it throws PLS-00201 identifier 'T2001_WRITEOFF' must be declared, and points to the 2nd line.
create or replace procedure woof1(
fooname in T2001_WRITEOFF.territory%TYPE, <=== error points here
bardesc IN T2001_WRITEOFF.ind_batch_submit%TYPE) IS
BEGIN
INSERT into T2001_WRITEOFF
VALUES ( fooname, bardesc);
END woof1;
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
JimRHi,
The reason I've heard has to do with knowing when a procedure becomes invalid due to privileges being revoked. Any time a grant to a role is revoked, you would have to check all procedures that depended on that role to know if they were still valid. Even worse, since roles can be granted to other roles, every time a role is revoked from another role, you would have to check all procedures that depended on anything to see if they were still valid.
Oracle 11 behaves the same as earlier versions in this regard, and I don't expect this to change.
This whole thread applies only to AUTHID DEFINER stored procedures (which is the default). If you can make the procedure AUTHID CURRENT_USER, then you can run it with privileges granted through roles. Usually, however, you really want AUTHID DEFINER, and granting the necessary privileges directly to the procedure owner (or to PUBLIC) isn't too hard. -
Stored Procedure with Table as data type , DBAdapter configuration
i have a stored procedure .
XXyyyy_QP_PKG.XXyyyy_QP_PRICE_BOOK_PUB(l_xxyyy_prc_dtl_tbl,l_xxyyy_prc_brk_tbl,l_status,'New',5840,'New');
where l_xxyyy_prc_dtl_tbl ,l_xxyyy_prc_brk_tbl are the tables as output parameter.
Steps Performed for above scenario :
i have created database adapter using stored procedure configuration, that created a Wrapper procedure during the configuration in Oracle DB.
and thus i can find bpel_*******Create.sql and bpel_*******DROP.sql files got created .
When i actually gone on package which crted by dbadapter , that are errored out , then i have manually droped and ran the create script .
create script will results in some compilation erors of procedure .
How can i fix this problem ? If i have same scenario which is for ORacle API using Oracle Apps adapter that creates correct wrapper procedure .
how all these can be achieved .
Not sure whther this DBAdapter really works in these scenarios or not .

Calling Stored procedure with Parameters in PowerPivot DataModel
Hi All,
I wanted to call a SQL stored procedure from PowerPivot(Excel) on based on changing slicer's value.
Currently, we can call stored procedure wihtout any parameter from Data Model tab using
Exec stored_proc_name in Table Properties window.
What if I want to call the same procedure with a parameter whouse value will come by changing slicer's value. I meant, changing slicer value will act as a parameter to that stored procedure & it should return updated results.
Is this possible in PowerPivot?Hi Rameshwar,
According to your description, you call a SQL Server stored procedure in PowerPivot data model, now the problem is that you need to pass a parameter to the stored procedure, right?
Based on my research, it seems that we cannot achieve this requirement directly in current version of PowerPivot data model. Here is a similar thread for you reference.
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/5350228d-bc62-4a3b-a1a6-e847483e2858/powerpivot-for-excel-2013-call-execute-stored-procedure-with-parameters?forum=sqlkjpowerpivotforexcel
If you have any concern about this behavior, you can submit a feedback at
http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is resolved in the next release of service pack or product. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, Microsoft might consider to add this feature
in the following release after official confirmation.

T-sql 2008 r2 place results from calling a stored procedure with parameters into a temp table
I would like to know if the following sql can be used to obtain specific columns from calling a stored procedure with parameters:
/* Create TempTable */
CREATE TABLE #tempTable
(MyDate SMALLDATETIME,
IntValue INT)
GO
/* Run SP and Insert Value in TempTable */
INSERT INTO #tempTable
(MyDate,
IntValue)
EXEC TestSP @parm1, @parm2
If the above does not work or there is a better way to accomplish this goal, please let me know how to change the sql?declare @result varchar(100), @dSQL nvarchar(MAX)
set @dSQL = 'exec @res = TestSP '''+@parm1+''','' '''+@parm2+' '' '
print @dSQL
EXECUTE sp_executesql @dSQL, N'@res varchar(100) OUTPUT', @res = @result OUTPUT
select @result
A complicated way of saying
EXEC @ret = TestSP @parm1, @parm2
SELECT @ret
And not only compliacated, it introduces a window for SQL injection.

I want to execute a stored procedure using ssis.But the problem I am having is that there is a table with 200 rows with only
single column.Now i want to execute stored procedure using value one by one from table .once the stored procedure is executed with top value from table i also want to delete that topmost column value and execute with next table value.and store the result in
text file.
please help me..or provide a package.If you want to do it in SSIS, a way to do this is by using For Each Loop as mentioned above.
Create 1 OBJECT type variable (list of values) and one STRING type variable (one value at a time)
Use EXE SQL Task with ResultSet = FULL RESULT SET and query = SELECT COL FROM TABLE ORDER BY COL ASC...output this to the OBJECT type variable
Next, a For Each loop container with Foreach ADO Enumerator, ADO object source variable = Object type variable and map that to String type variable with index = 0.
Within your for each loop container, select another EXEC SQL Task and pass in an input parameter (the String type variable) and query = EXEC PROC ? -- WHERE ? = String type variable.
This will execute your store procedure just for that one value out of the whole list.
Now within the same For Each loop, select another EXEC SQL Task and again pass in an input parameter (the same String type variable) and query = DELETE FROM TABLE WHERE COL = ? -- WHERE ? = the current value
The above process should A) get the list of values from the table B) pick one value at a time and execute the proc and delete and right after delete that value from the table.
Hope this helps.
-- some further investigation/tweaking may require but it should help you get started. -
How to call a AS/400 Stored Procedure with a BigDecimal Value?

Could you pls tell me how to call a stored procedure on the AS/400 which request an input value of packed decimal(10P 4) value.

But "decimal data error" most likely means that the stored procedure is expecting packed data and the driver is giving it zoned data, or vice versa. You could confirm that by dumping your variables inside your RPG. If that is your problem, you could work around it by redefining your BDAMT parameter as integer or string and reformatting it in the RPG.

Please help - Can not use stored procedure with CTE and temp table in OLEDB source
Hi,
I am going to create a simple package. It has OLEDB source , a Derived transformation and a OLEDB Target database.
Now, for the OLEDB Source, I have a stored procedure with CTE and there are many temp tables inside it. When I give like EXEC <Procedure name> then I am getting the error like ''The metadata could not be determined because statement with CTE.......uses
temp table.
Please help me how to resolve this ?you write to the temp tables that get created at the time the procedure runs I guess
Instead do it a staged approach, run Execute SQL to populate them, then pull the data using the source.
You must set retainsameconnection to TRUE to be able to use the temp tables

How in ColdFusion with in variables get a Oracle stored procedure to return values?
How in ColdFusion with in variables get a Oracle stored procedure to return values?
We have tried several things, we can get a stored procedure to return a result set if we are not passing in variables but we cannot get them when we are passing in variables.
We know how to do it calling MS SQL.
Thanks for any help,
Nathan Sr
P.S. we have heard this may not be possible with the current Oracle Driver is there a different Oracle driver?I can only barely understand what you're asking here (not from a technical perspective, but from understanding your written English), but I suspect you're wanting to know how to pass back values other than recordsets from Oracle?
You should be able to pass them back via a type=out proc param, shouldn't you?
If you could reword your post so it's a bit more coherent, and possibly post some code, that might help.

Calling stored procedures with parameters with the Database Connectivity Toolkit
Hi all,
I am new to the forum and am having difficulty finding a solution to a particular problem I am having regarding using the LabVIEW Database Connectivity Toolkit on a project I am currently working on at my job. I have a database in which I have tables and stored procedures with parameters. Some of these stored procedures have input, output, and return parameters.
I have been trying to follow this example but to no avail: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/07FD130746083E0686257300006326C4?OpenDocument
One such stored procedure I am working on implementing is named "dbo.getAllowablePNs", which executes "SELECT * from DeviceType" (DeviceType is the table). In this case, it does not require an input parameter, it has an output parameter that generates the table [cluster], and has a return parameter which returns an integer value (execution status code) to show if an error occurred. The DeviceType table has 3 columns; ID (PK, int, not null), PN (nvarchar(15), null), and NumMACAddresses (int, null). I have gone over many examples and have talking to NI support to try to implement this and similar stored procedures in LabVIEW but have not been successful. I am able to connect to the database with the Open Connection VI without error, but am running into some confusion following this step. I am then trying to use the Create Parameterized Query VI to call the stored procedure and set the parameters. I assume I would then use the Set Parameter Value VI for each parameter that is wired into the parameters input on the previous Parameterized Query VI? I am also having some confusion during and following these steps as well. I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone might have in regards to this situation as I am not a SQL expert. Also, I would be happy to provide any more information that would be helpful.
Regards,
Jon

Using stored procedures with a timestamp parameter with Delphi and ADO
Dear Oracle experts,
I have a problem concerning using a stored procedure with Delphi.
I try to use a stored procedure which hast two input parameters ( a integer and a timestamp).
The timestamp parameter is my problem since I would like to use the "to_timestamp"
Oracle-function to create the timestamp parameter to be inserted into my procedure.
If I insert the to_timestamp statement as a adodatetime I have to perform the conversion to the oracle timestamp in my application.
If I want to use the to_timestamp statement I have to use the ftstring datatype but in that case I get an error because I use a string as input for my procedure were it awaits a timestamp.
So the problem seems to be that the function call "to_timestamp" is not interpreted if it is transferred through my ADO component.
Do you know how to use a procedure with Delphi (ADO) with a function as input parameter ?
Best regards,
Daniel Wetzler
P.S. :
This is the Delphi code to use my Procedure.
FactsTempDS:=TADODataset.Create(nil);
Sproc1 := TAdoStoredProc.Create(nil);
Sproc1.Connection := TDBConnection(strlistConnectionstrings.objects[iConnectionIndex]).Connection;
Sproc1.ProcedureName := 'ECSPACKAGE.PROCFINDINITIALSWITCHSTATE';
Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('SwitchID',ftInteger,pdinput,0,0);
//Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('StartTime',ftdatetime,pdinput,50,0);
Sproc1.Parameters.CreateParameter ('StartTime',ftString,pdinput,50,0);
Sproc1.Parameters.Findparam('SwitchID').value:=SwitchID;
Sproc1.Parameters.FindParam('StartTime').Value:= 'to_timestamp(''2005/12/30 19:36:21'', ''YYYY/MM/DD HH:MI:SS'')';
Sproc1.CursorType := ctKeyset;
Sproc1.ExecuteOptions:=[];
Sproc1.Open;
Sproc1.Connection := nil;
FactsTempDS.Recordset:= sproc1.Recordset;
if FactsTempDS.RecordCount=0
then raise Exception.Create('No line switch variable found for switch '+IntToStr(SwitchID)+' before starttime. Check BDE dump filter.')I have my entity manager setup in a singleton.
I'm finding it's costly to generate the emf, but if I don't close the em (enitity manager) and emf (entity manager factory) my open cursor count climbs until I exceed the max number of open cursors on the database (11g RAC)
I'm committing the connection, and uow, and closing the em at the end of each call.
But until I close the emf, the open cursors aren't released.
TransactionhistoryPkg tranPkg = new TransactionhistoryPkg(conn); //Class created over database package via JPublisher
tranPkg.transactionhistoryInsSp(insertTrans.getCardId()); // executes db package
tranPkg.closeConnection();
conn.commit();
uow.commit();
uow.getAccessor().decrementCallCount();
em.close();
Am I missing something really obvious here??
btw - I found this link helpful in troubleshooting the max cursors issue: https://support.bea.com/application_content/product_portlets/support_patterns/wls/InvestigatingORA-1000MaximumOpenCursorsExceededPattern.html
