Enumeration

Is there any method (i mean, function) by which one can check whether a given value is in the
enumeration. I want to avoid looping through all the elements of the enumeration and doing compare.
Thanks

Class "Properties" implements "Maps", so I can get a "Set" out of it !!
Hmmm... I guess I need to THINK DEEPER. Thanks for ur response.
btw, how many yrs of experience do you have ? Just curious to know when
I will be ready to help out folks in this forum :)

  • Problems with enumerated type and DataSocket

    I am publishing an enumerated type variable using DataSocket write and I am having problems subscribing to this with other clients on the network. I can get the program to work ok if I replace the enumerated type with a straight numeric or a Text Ring for example. Is there anything special I should be looking out for when using enumerated types in this type of application.
    Thanks Kelly

    Updating to the latest version of LabVIEw (6.0.2) should correct this problem:

  • Null value in List Binding (enumeration mode)

    Hi,
    how can I declare a NULL value in a List binding with enumeration mode?
    A user should be able to select an empty entry in a combobox to update an attribute with a null value.
    I'm using JDev9052 and JClient.
    Any hints?
    Thanks,
    Markus

    Adding '-1' in JComboBox (addItem(new Integer(-1))) or in the control binding does not change the picture. Sorry.
    While play with different List bindings I have discovered that a Button LOV Binding works when using a "select * UNION select null from dual" view object. It does not work with a Combobox LOV binding. Why?
    Still, my problem List binding in enumeration mode (with Combobox) is unsolved. any hints or samples?

  • More fun with enumerated dropdowns - Binding to table

    Hi All,
    I'm having some trouble with enumerated dropdowns.
    My context is as follows:
    node DATA 1...1
    ---> node FLIGHTS 0...N
       -->CARRID etc from SFLIGHTS
    --->DDL (element type string)
    I have successfully tried to add a simple dropdown with the following code on the component controller:
    method wddoinit .
        data lo_nd_data type ref to if_wd_context_node.
        data lo_el_data type ref to if_wd_context_element.
        data ls_data type wd_this->element_data.
        data lv_ddl like ls_data-ddl.
        data node_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info.
        data vals type table of  wdr_context_attr_value.
        data: s_element type wdr_context_attr_value.
        data: str type string.
    *   navigate from <CONTEXT> to <DATA> via lead selection
        lo_nd_data = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_data ).
    *   get element via lead selection
        lo_el_data = lo_nd_data->get_element(  ).
        lo_el_data->get_static_attributes(
          importing
            static_attributes = ls_data ).
    *      get node info
        call method lo_nd_data->get_node_info
          receiving
            node_info = node_info.
         do 25 times.
           str = sy-index.
           condense str no-gaps.
           s_element-text = str.
           s_element-value = str.
           append s_element to vals.
        enddo.
    *    Set Value_sets to node_info
         call method node_info->set_attribute_value_set
          exporting
            name      = 'DDL'
            value_set = vals
    endmethod.
    This works fine, however now I am trying the same thing with a field from the SFLIGHTS table.
    I want to display a table of the retrieved SFLIGHTS but a field as a dropdown with valid entries from the database. I have added the following code to the view.
    method WDDOINIT .
        data lo_nd_data type ref to if_wd_context_node.
        data lo_nd_flights type ref to if_wd_context_node.
        data lo_el_flights type ref to if_wd_context_element.
        data ls_flights type wd_this->element_flights.
        data gt_flights type table of sflights.
        select * from sflights into table gt_flights.
    *   navigate from <CONTEXT> to <DATA> via lead selection
        lo_nd_data = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_data ).
    *   navigate from <DATA> to <FLIGHTS> via lead selection
        lo_nd_flights = lo_nd_data->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_flights ).
        lo_nd_flights->bind_table( gt_flights ).
           types: begin of ty_carrname,
         carrname type s_carrname,
         end of ty_carrname.
       data: gt_carrname type table of ty_carrname.
       select distinct carrname
          from sflights
          into table gt_carrname.
         data lv_carrname like ls_flights-carrname.
         data node_info type ref to if_wd_context_node_info.
         data vals type table of  wdr_context_attr_value.
         data: s_element type wdr_context_attr_value.
         data: str type string.
          lo_nd_flights->get_static_attributes(
          importing
            static_attributes = ls_flights ).
          call method lo_nd_flights->get_node_info
          receiving
            node_info = node_info.
         field-symbols: <carrname> like line of gt_carrname.
         loop at gt_carrname assigning <carrname>.
           str = <carrname>-carrname.
           s_element-text = str.
           s_element-value = str.
           append s_element to vals.
         endloop.
         call method node_info->set_attribute_value_set
          exporting
            name      = 'CARRNAME'
            value_set = vals.
    endmethod.
    I can display all the entries with a repeating subform but when I bind the CARRNAME to an enumerated dropdown I get an ADS rendering error:
    WebDynpro Exception: The ADS call has failed. You can find information about the cause in the error.pdf on the application server
    I have looked in the Error PDF but it is blank.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on what is goign wrong or how to diagnose the problem.
    I am assuming you can have a data element that has a 0..N cardinality (i.e a table element) and is also of type enumerated dropdown.
    I'm guessing this is something to do with cardinality but I have no way to find out.
    Thanks,
    Gregor

    I have looked in the defaultTrace file and found the following errors:

    Has anybody else used the enumerated dropdown element bound to dynamic data?
    I am using the latest releases and the "Specify Item Values" on the Object->Binding tab is filled in with what looks correct ($record.sap-vhlist.FLIGHTS\.Data etc) but greyed out.
    Thanks

  • How to read enumerated values from an OPC server via Datasocket

    Hi Labviewers,
    I am using LV8.2 and I am trying to find if it is possible to read enumerations from an OPC server via Datasocket, not just the values.
    I can successfully read a value for an OPC server via Datasocket and I get a value for example 3, is it possible to get the enumeration/string that corresponds to this value i.e. "Open".
    Many thanks in advance

    Hi Sarah,
    With the input type as variant I get the following response:
    1                                     <-This is the current numeric value of the parameter

       'Quality' -> 192
       'TimeHigh' -> 29861723
       'TimeLow' -> -665408304
       'Timestamp' -> 39.238E+3
    With the Input set to         Enum constant I get no values or strings coming back. With the Input set to                Ring constant I just get the numeric value

  • Help with exporting document and generating an enumerated value error

    Can anyone help me figure out why I cannot get this script to export the document and save it for the web?
    I keep getting the same frustrating "Enumerated Value expected".
    here is the script thus far:
    * attempting to create a script to insert names automatically within photoshop cs2. Similar to the PSP.
    tag = app.activeDocument;
    var lee = ["Barb","Belle","Betty","Carmel","Christy","Connie",
    "Debbie","Debra","Denise","Diamond","Dolceluna","Irene","Jacqui"];
    //determine if active layer is a text layer or not.
    if(tag.isBackground == true){
    alert("this is a background layer and cannot be changed.");
    else{
    alert("this is the name layer.")
    for(i=0;i<lee.length;i++){
    tag.activeLayer.textItem.contents = lee[i];
    var options = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb();
    options.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG-24;
    options.interlaced = false;
        options.PNG8= false;
    var fName = lee[i];
    var newName = fName+'-'+tag.name+'.png';
    alert(newName);
    //EXPORT DOCUMENT KEEPS GENERATING ENUMBERATED VALUE EXPECTED
    // web.matte = MatteType.NONE;
    tag.exportDocument(File(tag.path + '/' + newName),ExportType.SAVEFORWEB,options);
    } // closes for loop
    }// end of else statement

    Yes the guide is misleading. It says 'For this property, only COMPUSERVEGIF, JPEG, PNG-8, PNG-24, and BMP are supported.'
    It really should say 'For this property, only COMPUSERVEGIF, JPEG, PNG, and BMP are supported.'
    But if you look under SaveDocumentType you will not find PNG-8 or PNG-24 listed in the values.

  • Can I append the file name from a Foreach Loop Container Enumerator into a SQL Server Statement?

    I would like to pass back via an Email the name of the file that was successfully FTP'ed to a remote server. And I was hoping to do this via an Execute SQL Task with the following SQL Statement...but I just don't know if it will append the Foreach Loop Container
    variable enumerator to the appended Email message that I am building in SQL Server or if I can and how I can...
    I sort of get the feeling that I can try and do this via Dynamic SQL...I just don't know if by building dynamic SQL if my Foreach Loop Container enumerator variable will be appended to my Email Message via the SQL Server UPDATE
    @[User::FTPFHFileName]
    Or do I add a Data Flow Task and an OLE DB Command and pass the Foreach Loop Container enumerator variable to a Stored Procedure referenced in the OLE DB Command via a "?"
    Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

  • Node removing in a Tree, for loop, and Enumeration

    Hi there
    it should be pretty easy, however i'm stuck with this code:
    public void supprNode(DefaultMutableTreeNode node){
    for(en = node.preorderEnumeration();e.hasMoreElements();){
    DefaultMutableTreeNode tmpNode= (DefaultMutableTreeNode) en.nexElement();
    if (tmpNode instanceof myderivedNodeClass)
        tmpNode.doSomething();
    if(!tmpNode.isRoot())
        removeNodeFromParent(tmpNode);
    }The problem is, the for loop doesn't traverse all the elements. That's if i call removeNodeFromParent. Is the enumeration updated twice?
    ie if my tree is
    root
    -1
    -2
    -3after the call of supprNode(root) i get:
    root
    -2And i really don't understand why.

    Hi!
    If you look at the apidoc of DefaultMutableTreeNode.preorderEnumeration() you will see following text:
    * Modifying the tree by inserting, removing, or moving a node invalidates
    * any enumerations created before the modification.
    So you should copy the elements of the enumeration in a separate list and iterate then over this list!
    With kind regard,
    Mathias

  • Switch statement with enumerated types

    Hello,
    I'm currently having problems (error in eclipse) using enums in a
    switch block. Eclipse says:
    "The enum constant Constants.AnalysisType.<each case> reference cannot be qualified in a case label.
    for each of the cases that I try to use the enumerated type. My code
    looks something like this:
    switch (analysisType) {
    case Constants.AnalysisType.NONE:
        break;
    case Constants.AnalysisType.MVGAVG:
        break;
    }(With a number of cases omitted).
    where analysisType is the enumerated type defined in
    a file called Constants.java.
    The class where the error is occuring is located at:
    package myprog.ui.ViewPanelTab; and the enumerated type is declared at:
    package myprog.utility.Constants;I have the required import statements in the ViewPanelTab class.
    I have tried
    public, private, public static, private static as modifiers on the enumeration.
    Any ideas as to why eclipse won't let me do this.
    Thanks for any help
    Devon

    Why is it that the entire switch and all of its cases have the same locality ?By "locality" do you mean "scope" (i.e. the inability to declare two variables with the same name)? I find it rather irritating that I can't write switch (foo)
        case bar:
            int quux = ...
            break;
        case baz:
            int quux = ...
            break;
    }My guess as to the reason for the decision to disallow this is that otherwise removing a break statement could create a compiler error where there previously was none, and that this would be confusing. It is possible to create a fresh scope, though, by using braces:switch (foo)
        case bar:
            int quux = ...
            break;
        case baz:
            int quux = ...
            break;
    }

  • Workflow Activity "Lookup Value" returns An error occured while enumerating the filter using [//WorkflowData/customvalue]

    I want to generate an Accountname using EmployeeID, FirstName and LastName via a workflow.
    I'm using the Granfeldt Workflow Activity Library (https://fimactivitylibrary.codeplex.com/)
    I'm using the FIM Powershell Workflow Activity (https://fimpowershellwf.codeplex.com/)
    Steps:
    Passing the EmployeeID, FirstName and LastName to the powershell Activity, generating a logonid based on logic.
    Add-PSSnapin FIMAutomation
    $EmployeeID = $fimwf.WorkflowDictionary.EmployeeID
    $Forename = $fimwf.WorkflowDictionary.Firstname
    $Lastname = $fimwf.WorkflowDictionary.Lastname
    'logic creating a custom logonid here
       ==> This works
    Returning data back to the workflow via that powershell script:
    $fimwf.WorkflowDictionary.Add('NewAccountName',$newlogonid)
       ==> This works
     Using Lookup Value Activity to read the Workflow data and update the [//Target/AccountName] fails.
    This gives an error:
           An error occurred while enumerating the filter 'string' .
    (where string is the actual generated userid that I've got back from the powershell script. Example dab2563)
    I tried with only [//WorkflowData], then this gives the error:
          Index was outside the bounds of the array.
    Any hints to solve this?
    Kind regards,
    David

    The Lookup Activity is for looking up an object in the FIM Service. Seems like thats not what you're trying to accomplish.
    For updating the target of the workflow, just use the built-in Function Evaluator. The Lookup WF was not built for that and it is failing because you have not specified a valid XPAth lookup filter, such as /Person[AccountName='BillG']

  • Vector Enumeration Error Message when using smc

    Hi,
    Whenever I click on the System Information icon in smc, I get a small window that says "vector enumeration". No other error message/error code is shown. I did a clean uninstall and re install of the OS, but the issue still persists.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards,
    Pritesh Ugrankar

    Pritech:
    I had the same symptom (platform is an HP Pavilion a200n with 1GB RAM and 2.4Ghz Celeron) and was in the prrocess of posting this reply to see if you had any luck getting past your issue. Just for jollies, I again tried the System Information pick and mine now works!
    The only changes I have effected (since it was not working) were setting up a network printer (to my NetGear Firewall Router w/printer port) and getting networking working - which I had to do first. I am dual-homed and determined that Solaris10 was not detecting - has no native support for- the NetGear FA311 NIC I have wired to my router. I found driver binaries at http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/index.htm. Followed the included README, installed the driver, and I no longer get the vector enumeration error.
    You may not need all the convolutions I did, but I am posting them just in case. Feels like maybe SMC just wanted networking correctly set up ???

  • How do I select a control based on another control's selection and how do I remove enumerations from a control?

    Hi everyone,
    I have a question and I *think* the answer may be the new active controls, so here goes:  I have a control which contains a variety of enumerated items - essentially a typedef enum.  I may have up to several dozen items in this control, like this:
    Position - 1
    Current - 2
    Pressure - 3
    Temperature - 4
    Duty Cycle - 5, etc.
    I also have a 2nd control (actually a set of controls) that refer to the indices of the above control.  For example, if I "Position" chosen, I wish the 2nd control to appear that refers to position - an enumeration with "X axis, Y axis, etc."  If I select "Temperature", I wish the 2nd control to appear that refers to temperature - a different typedef'd enum - "Inlet, Outlet, Air, Water, etc."
    How do I do this?
    Lastly, the first enum with ALL of the items, pressure, current, etc. does not need to be used.  For certain configurations, I wish to eliminate, say the 1st and 3rd item - I don't wish to just gray them out, I wish to remove them from the enumeration, WITHOUT changing their enumerated value.  Perhaps I need to write the resultant enum into a temporary ring enum - any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Unfortunately, you cannot edit the list of enums during runtime, only during edit mode.  You can use a ring control however.  Then you can use the Strings[] property to set the selections to whatever you want depending upon the 1st enum.  See attached vi.

  • File Explorer File Enumeration Slowdown in Windows 8.1 - Why?

    File enumeration in Windows 8.1 appears to be slowing down.
    Here's what I mean:
    On a freshly rebooted system (i.e., with few files in the cache), open a File Explorer window on the root folder of drive C:.
    Select all the files, then right-click and choose Properties.
    TIME how long it takes to finish, and divide the number of files enumerated by the seconds it took to do the enumeration.
    Do it again now that the data is all cached.
    I've always thought this was a decent way to gauge real world file system responsiveness, and in fact it really was a pretty good benchmark up until Windows 8.1 came along.  With Windows 8(.0) and earlier, if you saw more than 30,000 files per
    second counted up, you had a very good SSD setup.
    On the workstation on which I'm typing this, my Windows 7 x64 installation would enumerate about 30,000 files per second the first time, and about 50,000 files per second the second time, from the RAM cache.  I have a very responsive I/O subsystem.
    When Windows 8 came out the numbers were about the same, if not a little better.
    When Win 8.1 was released they dropped BIG TIME.  File enumeration was something like 3 to 1 slower.
    Now, with the updates in past months, they appear to have dropped even further!
    Right now, with a fresh bootup I am seeing just under 6,000 files per second enumerated the first time, and a bit over 8,000 from the cached data.  This is DISMAL by comparison to earlier versions.
    Thankfully, typical file system performance - as measured by how long it takes to do real work on a few files in real applications - doesn't seem to have been affected as much, but then most applications don't enumerate lots of files.
    It seems likely that this enumeration slowdown affects real operations in Explorer beyond just this file count.
    Keep in mind I can run a Windows 7 VM or Windows 8.0 VM on this same hardware and still see 30,000 files/second enumerated inside the VM.  My hardware hasn't degraded.  The older Windows systems are still just as fast.  If
    I run a Win 8.1 VM the 6 to 1 slowdown is obvious.
    That even the RAM-cached directory data can't be run through nearly as quickly in Win 8.1 says that the slowdown is in the file system implementation.
    This isn't a question about why MY workstation is slowing down - it's not.  It's about why WINDOWS is becoming less and less efficient out of the box.  I have measured and compared progressive slowdowns in virtual machine snapshots
    ranging from a fresh, out-of-box installation of Win 8 or 8.1, to one that's been run for years.  Something's becoming less efficient IN THE DESIGN.
    So...
    Why is File Explorer taking longer and longer to simply count up files in folders?
    A corollary question is:  What else is this slowdown affecting?  Explorer doesn't seem as responsive to me as it once did.
    I'd hate to think Microsoft is slipping stuff into Windows to cause it to be slower and slower since its release date, just so they can make it look like the next version is faster.

    Detailed how-to in my eBooks:
    Configure The Windows 7 "To Work" Options
    Configure The Windows 8 "To Work" Options

     the slowdown is in File Explorer, rather than the file system itself.
    Want some more proof?  And proof that your system is caching the data that is needed.  And proof that stuff may be being ignored by WE which should be counted...
    In an elevated cmd window at the desired drive root enter:
    D:\>dir/a/s | findstr "File(s) Dir(s)"
    The surprise for me is the way the pipe seems to work?   Is it really a separate process that doesn't have to wait for the completion of the first stage's output?
    Anyway, I might be willing to time that--in fact, it may be possible to automate its timing--but I am definitely not interested in hanging around waiting for the number of
    minutes that WE takes to be sure I get an accurate measurement--if you know what I mean.   <eg>
    And apparently that would not be a fair comparison anyway.  WE only finds 2/3 in Size of what the dir finds.  I probably need to tweak WE's Options.  Finding only 2/3 of what another procedure is finding seems suspect even if it does
    take an absurd amount of time longer.  The funny thing is that the number of files is almost the same.  So, what does that imply: that 1/3 of the Size was contained by some very few which could not be counted?
    I should probably also try to convert that pipeline to Powershell and see how it does.  That could at least check the dir measurements in one way or another.  TBD.
    BTW I think I am now on a faster processor than I had with my tx2 but this Surface 2 Pro even with 8 GB RAM still doesn't "scream" for me.  I have noticed that its firmware shuts down cores occasionally.
    My guess is that could be due to its lack of cooling.  My tx2 always had its fans running full.  Maybe I will get a different result if I do this test in the winter than now in the middle of summer?   <eg>

  • The ForEach Loop Enumerator is Empty - SSIS Error when executing through CMD via VBA

    I am currently working on a SSIS package that is to be triggered through CMD via VBA (Access). All that the package does is read a bunch of files from a folder and upload them into a table in SQL Server. The tricky part comes is that this folder location from
    which the package is to read the files is dynamic.
    I figured out a way to make it dynamic, by using variables
    I have used the following variables:
    "Directory" against DIRECTORY in COLLECTION>>EXPRESSIONS in the ForEachfile Enumerator,
    "FilePath" (With Index 0) in the Variable Mappings
    PROBLEM : As the final link in the chain, I have used following to be triggered from VBA
    dtexec \f "C:\Desktop\SSISAppend.dtsx" /Set "\Package.Variables[User::Directory].Property[Value];C:\Desktop\AppendFiles"
    When I try to execute the package using the above command, it gives out the error
    Code : 0x8001C004
    Description: The For Each File Enumerator is empty. The For Each File enumerator did not find any files that meatched the file pattern, or the specified directory was empty.
    But, when I run the package from MS VisualStudio 2008, the package runs fine, takes the location of the file assigned to the variable "Directory".
    All help is appreciated

    Where are you executing the package from? You're giving an aboslute path so this will work only if package as well as the folder is in the same machine from which you execute the above code. Otherwise you need to use UNC path.
    Another thing to check is what login is executing the command and you need to ensure it does have access to the directoty path as well as to the path where package resides.

  • Problem in mapping with xsd:restriction and xsd:enumeration

    Hello All,
    Our BPEL process is invoked from a .net client and has a JCA adapter as target. We need to map the input schema to JCA schema and the output should look like the following:
    Listing 1:
    <callMethod name='F4211FSBeginDoc' app='XMLInterop'
    runOnError='no'>
    <params>
    <param name='mnCMJobNumber' id='1'></param>
    <param name='cCMDocAction'>A</param>
    <param name='cCMProcessEdits'>1</param>

    We have our JCA schema as follows:
    Listing 2:

    We are not able to create a valid structure from the above schema. Our output variable looks like

         session
         sessionidle
         ns5:callMethod()

              ns5:params
                   ns5:param
                        name
    No variables are displayed under the 'name' tag.
    How can we map the input elements to Listing 2 and produce Listing 1? This is a bit urgent requirement for our client and any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    With reference to your question.
    Can any operator perform this task..I don't think any single operator will help you.
    I suggest using an intermediate (staging) table by using a PL SQL procedure with output port to store the values of account number provided the number of accounts are limited. Else use an array variable for account of an employee.
    In short no simple solution because of the bad source design else the pivot/unpivot operator would have helped you.
    Cheers
