EOF Exception with Thread interrupts ?

EOF file Exception for RandomAccess.readFully() call. All the parameters are valid.
Is it possible/Any one seen to get EOF exception If another Thread interrupt the thread
which is doing I/O(READ).
I am running on SUN jdk131/Solaris8?

Hint if working with threads on reading data from files just synchronize the methods, like
public synchronized readData(...){...}
if you do not do that a thread is reading and when it breaks down it will locks the method(in your case the file will not been closed and if a file is not closed it cannot be opened by another thread/method/object/whatever)

Out Of Memory Exception with Thread Pool

Hi,
I'm using the ThreadPooling, and I have a problem. In my usage, I submit a bunch of tasks to my application, and i have a pool of THREADS, so while executing these tasks i am getting the following errot :
Exception in thread "pool-1-thread-271" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
I am not able to understand, what could be the reason to get this error, please help me
any one who knows it .

a few things to consider
1. increasing the heap size
2. you could have a memory leak
3. your app could just be creating too many/large objects and need redesign

Domino Gateway Crash with Java.io.EOF Exception

All,
My client has IDM 7.1 provisioning to Domino 6.5.4. It has been working fine untill last friday. Since then the gateway is crashing with Java.io.EOF Exception while trying to provision. The code has not changed and per some of the previous threads in this forum, I checked if they had any configuration changes in the Domino gateway server or at the domino side - like virus scan etc. However the answer was no.
I would really appreciate any help on this.

I am new to Java and I am trying a simple bouncing ball example from Stanford. Here is their simple example that works.

And no, there's no way to pass a reference to the BallA variable, so the method would initialize it and it wouldn't be null anymore.
When you call the method with your BallA variable, the value of the variable is examined and it's passed to the method. So you can't pass the name of a variable where you'd want to store some object you created in the method.
But you don't need to either, so there's no harm done.

HELP Needed with this error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClass

I am having a problem connecting to my MSDE SQL 2000 DB on a WindowsXP pro. environment. I am learning Java and writing a small test prgm to connect the the database. The code compiles ok, but when I try to execute it i keep getting this error:
"Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Test1"
I am using the Microsoft jdbc driver and my CLASSPATH is setup correctly, I've also noticed that several people have complained about this error, but have not seen any solutions....can someone help ?

I want to say that there was nothing wrong
with my classpath config., I am still not sure why
that didn't work, there is what I did to resolved
this issue.You can say that all you like but if you are getting NoClassDefFound errors, that's because the class associated with the error is not in your classpath.
(For future reference: you will find it easier to solve problems if you assume that the problem is your fault, instead of trying to blame something else. It almost always is your fault -- at least that's been my experience.)
1. I had to set my DB connection protocol to TCP/IP
(this was not the default), this was done by running
the
file "svrnetcn.exe" and then in the SQL Server Network
Utility window, enable TCP/IP and set the port to
1433.Irrelevant to the classpath problem.
2. I then copied all three of the Microsoft JDBC
driver files to the ..\jre\lib\ext dir of my jdk
installed dir.The classpath always includes all jar files in this directory. That's why doing that fixed your problem. My bet is that you didn't have the jar file containing the driver in your classpath before, you just had the directory containing that jar file.
3. Updated my OS path to located these files
and....BINGO! (that simple)Unnecessary for solving classpath problems.
4. Took a crash course on JDBC & basic Java and now I
have created my database, all tables, scripts,
stored procedures and can read/write and do all kinds
of neat stuff.All's well that ends well. After a few months you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Problem with recursive function & Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0"

I hope that title doesn't put everyone off :)
I have a recursive function that takes in a list of words, and a reference to my current best board. I am kludging the escape function +(tryWords.size() == 0 || mTotalBlankBlocks < 200)+ atm, but eventually it will escape based on whether the current bestBoard meets certain requirements. The function makes iterates through a list of words, and finds all the spaces that the word would fit into the puzzle: getValidSpacedPositions(currentWord); - it then iterates through each of these; placing a word, removing that word from the iterator and the relevant arrayLists and then recurses the function and tries to do the same with the next word etc.

The Exception occurs in the placeWord function which is called from the recursive loop, on the line bolded. For some reason the Arraylist Words seems to initialise with size 1 even though it is a null's when I look at it, (hence all the redundant code here) and I can't seem to test for null either, it seems to works fine for a while until the recursive funciton above has to back up a few iterations, then it crashes with the exception below.

If you want to stick to that logic (I am too lazy to proof-read your whole algorithm, but that should at least unblock you), you should first check whether the list actually contains at least one element:

Help needed with intsallation of Java3D:Exception in thread

I am a terribly new with Java3D. I have installed right now:
1)jdk1.3.1
2)Java3D1.3
3)Jcreator as my IDE
I followed instructions and installed the Java3D API in the c:\jdk1.3.1\jre directory. I checked an ensured that the j3d*.jar files are in c:\jdk1.3.1\jre\lib\ext and the J3D.dll, j3daudio.dll and J3DUtils.dll are in the c:\jdk1.3.1\jre\bin. I tried compiling and running what is supposed to be a simple working program and received these errors.

I you have installed the java runtime engine then put the j3D libraries in that drectory tree in the jre\lib\ext directory, and .dll`s in the bin directory. I you have not installed the jre then do so. That will create the java.library.path you need. to run java programs. Each compiler has its own procedures for running an app from the IDE, check your docs if that`s what you are doing.

Exception in thread main with package name

I've got this problem: my program works fine when I haven't the line for the package name. When I put it, it compiles fine, but when executing it says "Exception in thread main" and a lot of other information from classes it can't find. I've got the '.' in my classpath, I've tried to move the directory to the root, and to execute it I do not use '.class'.
Can anyone help me?

This is a minimal explanation of packages.
Assume that your programs are part of a package named myapp, which is specified by
this first line in each source file: package myapp;
Also assume that directory (C:\java\work\) is listed in the CLASSPATH list of directories.
Also assume that all your source files reside in this directory structure: C:\java\work\myapp\
Then a statement to compile your source file named aProgram.java is:
C:\java\work\>javac myapp\aProgram.java
Explanation:
Compiling
A class is in a package if there is a package statement at the top of the class.
The source file needs to be in a subdirectory structure. The subdirectory structure must match the package statement. The top subdirectory must be in the classpath directory.
So, you generate a directory structure C:\java\work\myapp\ which is the [classpath directory + the package subdirectory structure], and place aProgram.java in it.
Then from the classpath directory (C:\java\work\) use the command: javac myapp\aProgram.java
Running
Compiling creates a file, aProgram.class in the myapp directory.
(The following is where people tend to get lost.)
The correct name now, as far as java is concerned, is the combination of package name and class name: myapp.aProgram (note I omit the .class) If you don't use this name, java will complain that it can't find the class.
To run a class that's NOT part of a package, you use the command: java SomeFile (assuming that SomeFile.class is in a directory that's listed in the classpath)
To run a class that IS part of a package, you use the command java myapp.aProgram (Note that this is analogous to the command for a class not in a package, you just use the fully qualified name)

I have installed JDK and Aspectj in C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_03. I wrote a aspect to trace my program. i compiled using ajc -argfile Temp/tracev1.lst.
compiled fine..but i ran my aspect using command..C:\..\jdk1.5.0_03\java Temp.version1.TraceMyClasses

i should get tracing of all stack trace in format: return type:Package:Methods: Signatures

What method does it say that it can't find?
You might just need to make sure that your compilation of all files is up to date. If you remove a method from one file and recompile only that file, and then you try to call the old method from a file that hasn't been recompiled, you will get that error. If you had tried to recompile the second file, it wouldn't have compiled, because of the removed method.

Iphone connection with airport interrupted

Hello everyone,
I have a little problem with my iPhone 4 and AirPlay. I have an airport express that works perfectly fine with all of my devices except with my iphone 4. With the iPhone it constantly gets interrupted and even disconnected. I've been searching online for answers but all I get is people saying that their iPhone 4 worked great and the problems their having (similar to mine) are using 4S.
I'm pretty disappointed with the bad quality of things we're getting from apple in the past few years. :-/

I hope your tips help Chuckie, but I'm afraid I'm still seeing the problem on my iPhone. (Assuming that Chuckie is seeing the same problem that I am...) I turned on interference robustness, but that didn't help. Then again, I've got my iPhone sitting about three inches from my Mini, so I figured it should have a strong enough signal... I've tried turning off the various security features before, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I have tried three or four different channels, but not all of them; I guess I could start going through the whole set one by one.
However, in the discussion thread I linked to earlier, several of us with this problem have been fiddling around, and have determined that this problem seems to exist with the WiFi hardware in a particular subset of Apple products, apparently mostly being the early Intel-based machines. (G4 machines so far seem to work, as do current Intel machines.) Moreover, the glitch is particularly sensitive to the latency with which transactions occur; web pages hosted on the Mac providing the internet connection only rarely hit the glitch, where the exact same page hosted on a distant site hit the glitch far more often. Due to this, I don't believe this problem is one of general internet settings; I'm thinking we're seeing a situation where the iPhone and the Mac are falling out of synchronization somewhere while waiting for packets to be transferred between each other.
BTW, are you suggesting that we should not use "internet sharing" with WiFi on a Mac? I've been able to use it successfully in the past on my Mini with other computers... I can understand that a Mac might have less range than a dedicated wireless router, but I didn't expect that it would actually not be able to be used as a router.

The problem is inside the method "chamaConversor".
" conversor.pdfToText(arquivoPdf,arquivoTxt);" make a file.txt from one file.pdf. After that it don?t return the control to "ConstrutorDeTemplate2.java", and show the following error message:

When running WLS in RedHat 6.2 with the command - ./startWebLogic.sh,an
error saying "Exception in thread mainjava.security.AccessControlException
: access denied (java.lang.RuntimePermission createSecurityManager) is
displayed.
