EOIO - failure - resend - alternatives

Hello,
For some of our interfaces, we are using the QoS as EOIO but this is quite problematic:
If the message gets stuck in the queue, the message has to be canceled manually, then only the messages can move forward:
I would like to know the following:
1. What should be the decision criteria in selecting QoS as EOIO? Are there other criterias other [than|/thread/294241 [original link is broken]; mentioned by Ronald.
2. Can the message which resulted in error be resend?
3. Can the stuck message, not block the whole queue and generate kind of warning?
4. How can one tackle locking in ECC, which happens due to multiple messages being generated from PI from multiple queues?
5. How can EOIO messages monitored efficiently?
Appreciate your inputs.
Best regards,
Dharmi

1. What should be the decision criteria in selecting QoS as EOIO? Are there other criterias other than mentioned by Ronald.
yes that applies to EOIO in general. You can decide to use use it or not or how to use it in efficient way is based on the integration that you are working in.
2. Can the message which resulted in error be resend?
yes find out the root cause, fix it and re process the message. Please be informed that we cannot re send few messages.
3. Can the stuck message, not block the whole queue and generate kind of warning?
No actually.Alternaetly, If you get a error realted to code then you can handle that in your code to generate a warning from next time.
4. How can one tackle locking in ECC, which happens due to multiple messages being generated from PI from multiple queues?
provide same QueueID to all relevent messages that might lock up on ECC
5. How can EOIO messages monitored efficiently?
by understanding about it more in detail.
Venkat.

  • Solaris Studio 12.4 Beta ube assertion failure with -m64 -fsimple

I have found a way to get an assertion failure from the ube program that comes with the Solaris Studio 12.4 beta.  The error that gets printed is:
    assertion failed in function gra_peep_hole() @ gra.c:10381
    assert(lf_op_(lf_i) == LD_I)
The problem occurs whilst compiling a 64 bit version of GNU tar 1.23 using the -fsimple option on the C compiler.
This problem can be reproduced by getting the pre-processed code I've put on http://pastebin.com/wRHRmaiT and pasting it into a file called human.pre.c.  Then run:
    cc -std=c99 -m64 -mt -O4 -fsimple -c -o human.o human.pre.c
and you get the assertion failure.
Alternatively, if you don't trust my code on pastebin, the other way to reproduce it would be to download tar-1.23.tar.gz from GNU Project Archives, extract it and then you'll find the original file human.c in the gnu sub-directory.  Build this with:
    cc -std=c99 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -m64 -mt -O4 -fsimple -c -o human.o human.c
and you'll get the same problem.
The assertion failure only happens with -m64 and -fsimple.  If either of these flags are omitted it doesn't happen.
People reading this will probably think I'm crazy to be worrying about floating point optimisations for GNU tar, and it's true that I don't really need to build GNU tar with -fsimple.  However, I am worried that the same problem in ube will bite me at some point on more important code where floating point optimisations are valuable.
    In case it's relevant, I'm working on Oracle Solaris 10 1/13 s10x_u11wos_24a X86.

BugID 18644770 has been fixed recently and the fix is verified with this problem:

  • IMac G5 kernel panic- firmware reset/reinstall?

I have an iMac G5 Power PC (1.8 GHz) running 10.5 (most recent update).  Within the last 30 days, the following occurred: 1) the power supply unit went bad (again), and there were several instances of crashing (with fans running at full blast) for extended periods of time; and 2) I installed and then uninstalled screen spanning doctor to enable screen spanning (screen spanning worked well, for a while).
I replaced the power supply, which resolved that problem.  Since then, I have been getting kernel panic messages (the multilanguage "restart your computer" gray screen message).  I have taken the following actions thus far:
    1. Apple and Tech-Tool hardware tests (extended).  Hard drive, logic board, and currently installed memory passed all tests.
    2. Reset PRAM
    3. Reset SMU
    4. Reset NVRAM
    5. Reset PMU
    6. Ran DiskWarrior 4.3 successfully
    7. Swapped hard drives and did a clean install of 10.5 with all updates
    8. Verified and repaired disk permissions(apple disk utility)
    9. Followed procedure to remove/bypass corrupted sleepimage file (http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/tssleepimage.html)
    10. I don't think there issues with startup/login items
    11. Kernel panics occur when all peripherals are disconnected
When starting from the hard drive, it will boot and the desktop will appear.  It will function normally for  a while, and then I get the kernel panic message.  Other times on restart, I'll get the spinning gear and then a freeze with fans running full blast.  Still other times, I'll get a black screen or a kernel panic message on restart.
I can usually get it to boot from a disk (either AHT, DiskWarrior or 10.5 DVD).  That the problem still occurred following a reinstall of 10.5 suggests there may be a hardware problem (memory or other) that may have occurred as a result of the power supply failure. Alternatively, I'm wondering if I managed to corrupt the firmware with the screen spanning app (which does tinker with the firmware).   My questions:
    1. Is it possible to isolate whether this is a hardware or firmware problem?
    2. Is it possible to reset or reinstall the firmware?  Is this done during a system reinstall, or is it something separate?
    Thanks

WZZZ- I reset the NVRAM and rest firmware per your instructions.  On restart, there was initial startup (spinning gear) followed by the kernel panic message.  I reset the PRAM with the same results.  However, I was able to safeboot to access the console.  I copied the following information (panic logs (2)  followed by system configuration info).
    Thanks for your help

No 10.6.8 should be fine.  You will need to review the install logs indicated in message #1 to determine the point of failure.
Alternately you can run the Adobe Support Advisor - http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/ to attempt to automatically review your install logs.  There is also a package for support option available.  If you wish to respond to this thread with the token number which it provides you.  Myself or another Adobe Employee can then review your logs using that token number.
I would still recommend though reviewing the install logs yourself as well if you decide to follow this route.

  • Adobe Content Viewer, library downloading issue

I have the free version of the folio building tools currently with acrobat.com as I test the capabilities of the publishing suite for our company. I updated the folio tools, can sign in, create a folio, and it appears OK in the shared workspace on acrobat.com. I sign into the Ipad and open up the Adobe Content Viewer app. I sign in and it gives me the message downloading library. Here is where the problem happens. After it is finished loading, nothing updates. I can't get the folio to load into the Ipad and neither can my workmate who I shared the file with. I made sure the app was completely up to date.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?  Is this a common problem?
    ~ V

    All,
I just worked with another customer reporting the same circumstances, and it turned out that, as part of their migration from prerelease to their purchase of DPS, they had not provisioned the Adobe ID that they used to build their custom Viewer app. I need to know the name of your company, and the Adobe ID used to build your app, to determine if this is the cause of your failures.
Alternatively, if you have not yet purchased DPS, then your failures are due to the shut down of the prerelease program.
    Matthew
I just work for the company so I would not be able to get a hold of their Apple ID. We have the Creative Suite and I am working in InDesign CS5 with the updated folio tools extension.
I wanted to confirm that because the prerealease program is shut down, those with the free acrobat.com account can not publish a folio to the Adobe Content Viewer?  Because a few weeks ago, we could. I can still see my folio in the shared workspace on acrobat.com

Please follow the steps below to download Photoshop CS6 directly without using the Akamai download manager
    1. Navigate to Photoshop CS6 Downloads page : http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop
    2. Sign in with your Adobe ID.
    3. copy and paste the following link on the address bar and hit enter :
Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended English Mac
    http://trials2.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/PHSP/13/osx10/Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg
    4. Save the file.
    5. Run the .dmg file.

  • Need to resume task sequence after unplanned reboot - Error Task Sequence environment not found

The task sequence in SCCM 2012 R2 is being used to deploy a Hyper-V host on Windows Server 2012 R2.
When installing the Hyper-V role, we have a intermittent issue where after the restart, the TRUSTEDINSTALLER installs a kernel driver (vmswitch.sys) and then restarts the system while the SCCM engine is waiting for the SCCM client to initialize.
This breaks the TSE and it throws the error "Task Sequence Environment not found" a few minutes later.
Does anyone know of any way to RESUME the task sequence, or to set the TSEnv.dat back to a clean state that will allow it to resume the TS? I am thinking about configuring an AutoLogon/Logon script that will check try and recover & resume these failures.
ALTERNATELY, does anyone know how to prevent the Trusted Installer from rebooting on Windows Server 2012 R2?

Use sc command to put Windows Module Installer to disabled in your script after Enabling Hyper-v Role. When the system completely restarts, change it to Manual or Automatic.
Note: I have not tested it, it is just my thought, if it does not work or something unexpected happens, it means your issue cannot be fixed this way.

  • Mail send failure caught in endless "resend" loop

So, I tried to send an email out via my iPhone and it failed to send. Now that email seems to be caught in an endless loop of "resend" attempts, all to no avail. Any ideas on how I might remedy the situation?

Delete the account on your iPhone then go to webmail for your email account and make sure your Drafts and Outbox folders are empty, then recreate the account on your iPhone.

  • Alternative explantations for "provider failure" with MS SQLServer plug-in.

I am attempting to set up the SQL Server plugin. After much messing about, I have got to the stage where the agent can connect to the sql server, but all the metric collection queries show an 0x80041004 error.
    e.g.
em_error='SELECT name, sqlservername, initialsize, spaceavailable, lastbackup FROM mssql_transactionlog WHERE sqlservername ='(local)'' query execution failed. Error code = 0x80041004 em_error=An error has occured while fetching WMI data.
According to Microsoft Technet, this error number means ' WMI Provider Failure' and can occur if the user querying the WMI is a local user 'created since the WMI service was started'. There is apparently a hotfix for this, but workaround ( restart the WMI service) is not effective so I have doubts that the technet note applies to my situation.
Has anyone seen this problem and solved it?

    Try that on command prompt:
    wmiadap /f
    wmiadap /resyncperf
    restart 'Windows Management Instrumentation' service

  • Seeking alternative advice for possible HD failure...

My poor PB is just 4 months old and I'm not sure how, but I think the HD decided to quite (it clicks/whirs/clacks in ways similar to my previous notebook computer shortly before it quit).
I cannot access anything on the HD itself, but can get to disk utility by way of the installation CD. When I try to run the utility I am not allowed to verify disk permissions or verify disk. When I try to verify, it says failure, could not unmount disk.
If I try to repair disk permissions or repair disk, the computer starts the process, but just clicks and whirs FOREVER. It never actually does anything...
the S.M.A.R.T. status shows verified, which should indicate the HD is ok (I assume).
I need my computer immediately... what would be some advice for taking care of my problem? My current location is TOO FAR from an Apple Store to take it for repairs. Anything I can do on my own to solve this?
I haven't tried it yet, (a bit afraid to) but I have considered erasing the disk. The file losses would be minimal, but if there is another route for solving this issue, I would rather go that way.
Thank you for any and all advice you have!!!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, BeckyJ.
I think your PowerBook's hard drive is failing and there isn't really much you can do except replace the drive. Normally Apple will replace the drive under warranty - either sent in or at an Apple Authorised Service Provider.
However as you need the computer immediately and don't wish to go via the warranty replacement route, then the only option available is to source a new drive (at your own expense) and replace the drive yourself. Installation instructions are available here. I do need to warn you that the process is not easy for anyone unfamiliar with working on the insides of a notebook computer and will invalidate the warranty.

  • [GAVE UP] Failure to initialize graphics device [Thinkpad 530W,Nvidia]

    Hello,
I fail to use `nvidia` as graphics driver for my xorg on a Thinkpad 530W laptop using Nvidia Quadro 2000M and intel graphics card. Using instead `intel` or `vesa` work. This following logs are with optimus enabled, but I tried the same things with only the nvidia graphics card enabled in the bios and I also fail to load the nvidia driver.
    I followed the advice at
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NV … IA_Optimus
for xorg not to be confused by the presense of two graphics cards.
Do you have any ideas how I get the nvidia card to run? Should I try Bumblebee? But can this even help if already only the nvidia card by itself makes problem? Do you need any more information?
    Thanks, for any advice,
    Holger

  • "HP AIO Printer 7180 " Ink System Failure- Worth Repair ?

Hi              I have the above all in one printer. it is maybe 8 years old now but an excellent, top of the line printer at that time. I have gotten an " ink system failure" warning and nothing works. I have been told that this means the printer is basically shot-to chuck it-and buy a new one. Its such a nice unit, it seems a shame to not try a repair. my local printer repair shop in Vancouver -eltek- has quoted me about $50 to check it out and up to repair from there. I've heard that this is a common problem with this unit. Question- As I am Disabled , on fixed low income,  can I attempt a self repair and if so , what can I attempt? Would it be worthwhile to pay for this problem repair or should I just write it off and save $100 for the newer type, disposable printers ?                                                                                                              Thanks Most Kindly   Brian Smith in North Vanc

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I understand your Photosmart C7180 All-in-One Printer is stuck in an error state.  I would like to assist you with this.   According to this article from HP, the sole troubleshooting recommendation is performing a hard reset.  Beyond that, I recommend you reach out to our tech support team. You can click on the following link to initiate a case: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Once you fill out the online form to create your case you can choose from different direct contact methods.  Even though your printer's out of warranty, you might be able to look into alternative servicing or replacement options with HP.   Addressing your questions about D.I.Y. repair and third-party servicing, I do have some advice that you may want to take into consideration.  The printhead on your C7180 is fixed/permanent.  This means you can't readily take it out and clean it or replace it like you can in other printer models.  Is it possible to dismantle the entire unit and identify the source of the error status (likely the printhead) and repair it on your own?  Maybe... but there are no official guides from HP that support this approach.  With some research online (Google, cough, YouTube, cough ) you might be able to find tips on how to go about this, but we rarely advise this route as it can exacerbate existing issues or create new problems.   Third-party repair businesses may have their own methods for fixing these types of printer errors, but I'm doubtful that they can guarantee a positive outcome, especially with this type of error.  You can end up wasting  money on a fruitless repair.  We don't do pre-sales tips in the Forums, otherwise I'd recommend budget-friendly printers from HP that would match and in many cases exceed the capabilities of your C1780.  If you do end of deciding to pick up a new printer you can checkout new HP models here.   I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

  • How to monitor OSD TS failure and get alert or report?

How to monitor OSD TS failure and get some alert or generate an report?
    We have SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 with MDT 2013.
I have checked the OSD reports in SCCM and everyone is emty, where do SCCM get data to the what to activate?
(I thinking of "Task Sequence - Deployment Status" reports)
I am not sure people read report manually or lock at the MDT monitor view. So best I think that generate an email or incident in Service Manager when an TS fails.
We do have SCOM, SCSM, SCO.
Is there anyone that can point what way or what option I have?
    /SaiTech

Specifically you could use this Status Message Query syntax to monitor your Task Sequences for errors:
    select stat.*, ins.*, att1.*, att1.AttributeTime from SMS_StatusMessage as stat left join SMS_StatMsgInsStrings as ins on stat.RecordID = ins.RecordID left join SMS_StatMsgAttributes as att1 on stat.RecordID = att1.RecordID inner join SMS_StatMsgAttributes
    as att2 on stat.RecordID = att2.RecordID where att2.AttributeID = 401 and att2.AttributeValue = "DOJ200A1" and stat.SiteCode = "DOJ" and att2.AttributeTime >= ##PRM:SMS_StatMsgAttributes.AttributeTime## order by att1.AttributeTime desc
Just replace DOJ200A1 with the Deployment ID of your Task Sequence and DOJ with your SiteCode.
If you want to generate an alert if the TS fails then you could run a script that calls a utility (or similar) which sends a pre-configured email to a specified address (as an alternative to Torten's response). This could be placed in the built in error
logging section of the SCCM integrated MDT Task Sequence when it fails which I assume you are using (right at the bottom, called Gather Logs and StateStore on failure).
There are heaps of ways of generating an email from a TS and controlling error logging just do a search - as you have Service Manager you could even use your instance of Orchestrator and call a run book in your TS which does the email?
    Cheers
    Damon

  • How do I tune TCP SYN resend/retransmit rate for satellite?

On a satellite internet connection MacOSX (and, I believe, iPhones) have excessively aggressive SYN resend timing.
The existing settings make iTunes and SSL based services (banking, email etc) unreliable and often unworkable.
Plain HTTP (most web browsing) gives the appearance of working because browsers quietly retry.
I have been unable to find a setting in Preferences or sysctl to adjust this. And of course there's nothing useful on an iPhone. It would be helpful if there was some switch for "satellite" or "high latency" networks.
    Summary:
When combined with the (common) TCP accelleration in a satellite modem, TCP connections from a Mac over satellite often get reset right at the start when the connection is commencing because of a race condition between the modem's stateful connection proxying and MacOSX's excessively rapid SYN resends.
    Workaround:
Running a proxy between the Mac and the modem (in our case, in our firewall) where the proxy runs on a more conventional machine with much slower (normal) SYN resend times seems to work around the issue by making the Mac's connection to the proxy, and the proxy's connection over the satellite connection. Because the proxy's host has better TCP behaviour, the connections succeed.
    Detailed problem description and explaination:
At times, SSL connections (HTTPS, POP3S, IMAPS) and other connections receive a batch of RST packets just after setup, leading to connection refused or connection reset by peer. Depending on the app, you get an assortment of errors messages of varying vagueness. iTunes is especailly useless here, just saying an unknown error occurred.
For something that reports the OS-level error you get message like this:
socket error ([Errno 54] Connection reset by peer)
Generally, if the connection succeeds it will stay up. The failure occurs at connection setup time.
From running tcpdumps on my firewall when this is happening, the behaviour is as follows:
For background to understand what follows: a TCP connection is established by you sending a SYN (synchronise) packet to the far end. The far end replies with a SYN/ACK acknowledging the connection. You then send an ACK ackowledging receipt of the SYN/ACK. And then you send and receive data packets.
A successful connection looks like this (you may need to make your window rather wide):
    16:47:47.896426 172.16.3.7.50142 > X.X.X..995: S 2233798023:2233798023(0) win 65535 <mss 1460,nop,wscale 4,nop,nop,timestamp 1306458055 0,sackOK,eol> (DF)
    16:47:48.597903 172.16.3.7.50142 > X.X.X.X.995: S 2233798023:2233798023(0) win 65535 <mss 1460,nop,wscale 4,nop,nop,timestamp 1306458755 0,sackOK,eol> (DF)
    16:47:48.643500 X.X.X.X.995 > 172.16.3.7.50142: S 0:0(0) ack 2233798024 win 13312 <mss 1321>
    16:47:48.644794 172.16.3.7.50142 > X.X.X.X.995: . ack 1 win 65535 (DF)
    16:47:48.645639 172.16.3.7.50142 > X.X.X.X.995: P 1:307(306) ack 1 win 65535 (DF)
So: the normal SYN, a duplicate SYN 701ms later (much too early), a SYN/ACK from the far end and an ACK for that from  this end. And then normal traffic.
An unsuccessful connection looks like this:
    16:48:11.094536 172.16.3.7.50144 > X.X.X.X.995: S 2181400205:2181400205(0) win 65535 <mss 1460,nop,wscale 4,nop,nop,timestamp 1306481128 0,sackOK,eol> (DF)

A normal SYN, which gets repeated 703ms later, then 302ms after that, then 301ms later, then 302ms later. Then a SYN/ACK from the far end 2097 milliseconds after the first SYN. Then yet another repeated SYN from our end 303ms after the last SYN, then immediately an RST. Our ACK follows (probably already dispatched by the Mac before the RST, but arriving at the firewall just after the RST) and a PUSH with the first data. Two more immediate RSTs come back, presumably for each of these data packets.
By comparison, our BSD firewall resends the first SYN 6 seconds after the original, then even slower. Comparsed to 600-700ms, then every 300ms from the Mac. The Mac's resends interact very badly with sat modem TCP acceleration and sat latency.
There seem to be a few things going on here:
Firstly, something is sending too many SYN packets. There is no need to send repeated SYNs every 300ms. Certainly the best round trip latency over a satellite is about 700ms. The coincidence of the satellite latency and the first resend time probably exacerbates things.
Secondly, sending a SYN _after_ the far end's SYN/ACK has come back seems to elicit an RST packet. I think this is because the modem has established state for the connection because it has seen the far end's reply, and is rejecting what it now thinks is an attempt to set up a new connection using the same ports (forbidden).
Third, this happens more at times of congestion, because the SYN/ACK takes a little longer to come back.
Fourth, the immediacy of the RST packets seems to suggest the RSTs are coming from the modem. So it is probably doing TCP accelleration, and that is producing the RSTs.
    There are two problems here:
Up front, the Mac is producing SYNs too often when starting a connection. This exacerbates the problem into something that happens frequently (when it happens at all). This may be TCP "fast mode", but regardless I cannot seem to turn it off.
Second, one could argue that that modem is being overly strict about rejecting the extra SYN. Probably better to pass it through to the far end and let that decide whether to RST it. The modem is  doing TCP accelleration (which is fine – it permits better behaviour once the connection is established) but is considering the connection "established" too early. It seems to do it on seeing the SYN/ACK, instead of waiting to see the third packet (the ACK).
I also suspect this happens with plain HTTP as well, but that browsers hide it by retrying connections. The modem is not going to get fixed.
While I think I'm working around this in my firewall now by diverting all outbound satellite connections through a proxy, many users will not have that option, nor any ability to diagnose the issue. They'll just see "Macs don't work on satellite". I'm not alone; there is a scattering of posts on Whirlpool recounting similar symptoms on satellite with Macs.

    Hi Peter,
Simultaneous scanning attacks can be achived when the attack is launched with a botnet. At that moment "n" number of systems are launching attack without their knowledge.

  • Likelyhood of being replaced on multiple hard drive failures.

My 17" Core duo macbook pro just ate its 2nd harddrive. I am outside of the apple warranty but luckily purchased apple care and they are taking care of everything. After 3 repairs does apple replace the entire unit? Or is there a set number of times that requires them to replace it.
And if they replace it do you have any options in what you get. Do you get an identical model or a newer core 2 duo model. I would be willing to pay a difference to get the core 2 duo 15" version if the option were given to me. Just curious how applecare handles these situations.
    Thanks

You're right in that Apple should treat everything it sells with the same weight. However, given the information provided one could hardly conclude that there was a pattern of drive destruction. For all we know the drive failures could well have happened over 12 months apart and that would hardly suggest a serious issue with the MBP as a whole.
Yes there are guidelines for system replacement but ultimately the deciding factors are weighed on a case by case basis with no hard and fast rules. Sometimes replacements are done with lesser contributing factors although the individual circumstances deemed it prudent. There are also times when you simply have weird, unforseen, circumstances that given no alternative (I should know about this one as I had a 3 year old PowerBook G4 be replaced by my current MBP).
Also bear in mind that this is a 2nd drive replacement and not a 3rd.
