  • SPM: Using "refresh data sources" in Data Source Administrator

    Hi All,
When making changes to a query, that I want to be reflected in the flex front end, I carry out the following steps:
    1) save the query in query designer
    2) load up the SPM user interface, navigate to Administration -> Data Source Administration
    3) Click on "Refresh All Data Sources"
    4) Wait for the "wait" cursor to finish (only takes a few seconds)
    5)log out of the portal
    6) clear the browsers cache
    7) reload the web page
    8) Repeat Steps 2-7 again
    9) the query's changes are not reflected in the UI
Does anyone know what I should be doing differently so that the query changes are reflected in the Data Source?
    Kind regards,
    Neil

    Hi Neil,
You are almost right on the steps, just a few changes.
    1. Modify your query and save the query changes.
    2. Close the query designer so you are not locking the query (optional step, but recommended).
    3. Go to transaction RSRT and generate the query (optional step, but recommended).
    4. Login to portal and launch SPM user interface, navigate to Administration -> Data Source Administration
    5. Click on "Refresh All Data Sources"
    6. Check the UI logs (Settings > View logs), to confirm that datasource refresh has finished successfully (your should receive messages saying 'Metadata Loaded'.  The cursor will turn into a clock multiple times, this is the UI checking to see if the metadata refresh has finished.  You should see the message 'Metadata Loaded' as many times as there are registered BW queries.  This could take a few minutes depending on the number of queries registered in SPM UI.
You need not clear your browser cache or logout of the application.  At most you may need to relaunch the application.
These steps should be sufficient to reflect any query changes to the SPM UI.

    Rohit

  • Source determination,Quota Arrangement Process

    Hi,
Plz tell me how to maintain Source determination,Quota Arrangement.step by step

    Dear,
    QUOTA ARRANGEMENTS
If a quota arrangement exists for a material, it has the highest priority during source determination. Like source list, the quota arrangement facilitates the administration of sources of supply at plant level.
If you procure a material from different suppliers, you can assign a quota to each individual supplier. A quota arrangement applies to a certain period and specifies how the receipts should be distributed among each source of supply.
If a quota arrangement exists, this does not mean that the quantity of a single manually created purchase requisition is automatically apportioned among different sources. In such case, the entire quantity of the requisition is assigned to one source u2013 the source that is next in line receive the relevant order.
Before you can maintain a quota arrangement item with the procurement type external procurement, a source of supply (info record and / or outline agreement) must exists.
    Create quota arrangement:
LOGISTICS u2013MATERIAL MANAGEMENT u2013 PURCHASING u2013 MASTER DATA u2013 QUOTA ARRANGEMNET u2013 MAINTAIN.
Specify number ranges for quota arrangement:
SAP IMG u2013 MATERIAL MANAGEMENT u2013 PURCHASING u2013 QUOTA ARRANGEMENT u2013 DEFINE NUMBER RANGES.
You must specify the business application for which quotation arrangement will be used, for example: in material planning or in purchase requisitions. You make this specification in QUOTA ARRANGEMENT USAGE filed, which is to be found in the plant-specific purchasing/materials planning data of the material master record.
    Set quota arrangement usage indicator:
SAP IMG u2013 MATERIALS MANAGEMENT u2013 PURCHASING u2013 QUOTA ARRANGEMENT u2013 DEFINE QUOTA ARRANGEMENT USAGE.
System assign quota rating to each source by calculation as u2013 Quota rating = (quota allocated quantity + quota base quantity / quota).
ADDITIONAL ASPECTS OF SUPPLY SOURCE DETERMINATION
Quota arrangements also can be source of supply.
Quota arrangements for material requirements arising over a certain period divided up among different sources on basis of quota. Quota arrangements determine which source of supply is automatically assigned to a purchase requisition.
    SOURCE DETERMINATION
The purpose of the source determination process is to automatically assign a source of supply to a purchase requisition, if source determination indicator set in the requisition header, the system searches for possible sources of supply for all the items of the requisition. Quota arrangements also can be source of supply.
In source list specify a preferred source as fixed for a certain period, the system suggest just only this source, even if other potential sources exists.
Quota arrangements for material requirements arising over a certain period divided up among different sources on basis of quota. Quota arrangements determine which source of supply is automatically assigned to a purchase requisition.
Source list record consists of the following:
1.Validity period u2013 Period of validity
2.Key source data u2013 Number of vendor and responsible purchasing organization or number and item of outline agreement.
3.Fixed source u2013 Within a validity period not more than one source should be flagged as fixed.
4.Procurement plant u2013 if the materials can be procured from a plant or another point within your firm, enter the plant number in PPl field and leave the field for the vendor number empty.
5.Blocked source u2013 To block a source. If you set Blocked indicator and enter only one validity period, the material is excluded from external procurement; that is, it cannot be ordered during this period.
6.Material requirements planning  - You use MRP indicator to determine whether an automatic source determination process is carried out during the requirements planning run. The appropriate source is then automatically assigned to a purchase requisition, or scheduling agreement delivery schedule lines can be generated directly via planning run.
If an attempt is made to order a material subject to a source list requirement from a source that is not included in the source list, the standard system issues an error message with the text: Source not included in list despite source list requirement. You can change this to warning message.
If source list requirement defined for a plant, all materials in the plant level must be maintained with source list before procurement.
    Analyze source list:
LOGISTICS u2013 MATERIAL MANAGEMNET u2013 PURCHASING u2013 MASTER DATA u2013 SOURCE LIST u2013 FOLLOW ON FUNCTIONS u2013 ANALYSE.
Define source list requirement at plant level:
SAP IMG u2013 MM u2013 PURCHSING u2013 SOURCE LIST u2013 DEFINE SOURCE LIST AT PLANT LEVEL.
    Source lists can be created:
    -Manually.
-Create from within an outline agreement u2013 on outline agreement overview screen, select an item for which you wish to enter source list record and choose ITEM u2013 MAINTAIN SOURCE LIST.
-Creation from with an info record u2013 you can enter vendor in the source list when creating or changing a purchasing info record. Choose EXTRAS u2013 SOURCE LIST. If the info record valid for entire purchase organization, you can create the source list for all plants of the organization in question. Choose the plant via GOTO u2013 PLANT.
-Automatic u2013 can generate by system automatically.
    Create source list manually:
    LOGISTICS u2013 MATERIAL MANAGEMENT u2013 PURCHASING u2013 MASTER DATA u2013 SOURCE LIST u2013 MAINTAIN/DISPLAY.
    Generate source list automatically:
LOGISTICS u2013 MATERIAL MANAGEMENT u2013 PURCHASING u2013 MASTER DATA u2013 SOURCE LIST u2013 FOLOW ON FUNCTIONS u2013 GENERATE.

  • Purchasing Info Record and Source list

    Hi all,
I am using purchasing info record along with a price for the vendor and material.  This would get the net price into the Purchase order.  Do i really need to create source list ?  What will source list do for me ?   Wouldn't having info record be sufficient ?
Looking forward to hear your suggestions.
    Thank you.
    Joyce

    Hi Joyce,
If you have not maintained valid conditions in your Pur info record then price is picked from last purchase order through purchase order price history if customizing settings allow so (In your case if customizing settings allow and the net price 100 in the info record is not from valid conditions, price picked will be 250).
In the price determination process in PO system always first looks for pur info records with valid conditions if not found then it looks for last PO price.
There is also a parameter for default values for buyers called EVO. If you make settings in customizing for this parameter and tick the Chkbox for picking the last purchase order price in it and you attach this parameter to your user ID in the user-own data with PI value, then last PO price is picked as default value in the net price.

    Source List -
The source list is used in the administration of sources of supply. It specifies the allowed (and disallowed) sources of a material for a certain plant within a predefined period. Each source is defined by means of a source list record.
    The source list serves:
To define a source of supply as "fixed". Such sources count as preferred sources over a certain period of time.(For example, the fixed vendor for material 1 is X for the first quarter and Yfor the second quarter of the year.)
To define a source of supply as "blocked".(This means, for example, that contract 123 may not be used for a certain period of time.)
As an aid in selecting the preferred source during the source determination process.(For example, the vendor A is determined as the source for an item of a requisition dated 15th June relating to material 1.)
To block the external procurement of a material

  • Alter table source in SES

    Hi!
We have a lot of table sources in SES and need to change database host in source definition but unfortunatly source is read only and no supported way described in docs.
Updating EQ$_DATA_SOURCE_PARAM_VAL with new value seems to be proper way - in administration UI source shown with new value but crawler is unable to connect to DB and using old value with old setting.
    What else should I fix?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
The designer generate alter statements for you.
e.g You have a table emp with empno number(8) in designer and in your application database. You cahnged empno to number(12) in designer. Generate ddl pointing to your application database. Designer generate an ALTER table script for you.

  • Duplicated site code with another Source Hierarchy

I am attempting to migrate data from my existing SCCM2007 server to the new sccm2012. I get an error after I attempt to gather data.  My Site code for sccm2012 is S01, Site code for sccm2007(MLSCCM) is S00.  How can I delete existing Source Hierarchy
    - Source site code?  Then hoping to specify new source hierarchy
    Error:
Configuration Manager failed to gather data from xxx.xxx.xxx
The specified source hierarchy contains a site that has the same site code as another site that was previously migrated from a different source hierarchy.
To successfully gather data from this source hierarchy you must remove the site with the duplicate site code from the source hierarchy.
    How do I do this??

If I understand correctly you want to delete the existing Source Hierarchy. I have detailed the steps here
    http://gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/08/configmgr-2012-sccm-2012-migration-post.html
    Basic steps are:
Navigate to Administration > Migration > Source Hierarchy
Right click on the Config Mgr 07 hierarchy and select "Stop Gathering Now"
Now select "Clean Up Migration Data" on the ribbon above.
Select "Yes" to delete the Migration history

  • Adding a Software Source?

    Hello everyone.
I just installed Arch Linux to my desktop today and have been tweaking it with a lot of stuff to make it look like OSX (just for fun, really). I've stumbled upon a problem, however, as I find I need to add a software source.
    In Ubuntu, this is done:
System -> Administration -> Software Sources etc...
But there seems to be no such area as Administration under System in Arch.
I am running Gnome, by the way.
I have used google, searched, the arch wiki, and looked on youtube, but I cannot find how to simply add a source for software in Arch.
Is there some sort of text document I need to edit for this, like the conf files I had to edit during installation?
Also note that I have to input a key of some sort as well, which is done after the source is added. I don't know if this could really be done in a conf file.
If it is any help, the exact program I am looking for is gnome-globalmenu.
    Thanks in advance.

What...? You are using arch now. Get familar with pacman and aur. Wiki is the place to start reading.
    edit:
PPA is a ubuntu (or debian?) only thing. If software is not in the Arch repos, you can write your own PKGBUILD or check if one is available in the AUR.

  • Discrepancies in MRP Available Inventory between SC and BW

We're seeing a discrepancy in a BW report and the data shown in md05/md05. There's a difference in the MRP Available Inventory. What are other possible sources of this difference? We know Safety Stock, SafeReq and MatRes, but for this particular issue, that doesn't quite solve it.
The difference appears in a future week and that difference is carried on to the weeks after that week.

    hi,
check 'transfering data with db connect' doc ...
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/2f0fea94-0501-0010-829c-d6b5c2ae5e40
    and oss 339092, 518241
    hope this helps.
    Procedure
Before you can open a database connection, you have to make all connection data necessary for identification of the source database and for authentication for this database, known to the ABAP runtime environment. For this you need to specify the connection data for each database connection, which also needs to be created to the SAP default connection.
    1.     To do this, choose in the Administrator Workbench source system tree ¡V Modeling Source Systems (Root Nodes) „_ƒnContext Menu (right mouse click) „_ Create.
    2.     In the subsequent dialog box, choose the source system type Database Source System and choose   Transfer.
    3.     In the following screen enter the logical system name (= DB connection) and a descriptive text for the system, then choose   Continue.
You get to the screen Change View ¡§Description of Database Connections¡¨: Detail.
    4.     Select the database management system (DBMS) with which you want to manage the database. With this entry you determine the database platform this connection concerns.
    5.     Specify the database user under whose name the connection needs to be opened.
    6.     Enter the DB Password twice for the user for authentication across from the database when creating the connection. This password is encrypted and stored.
    7.     Enter the technical information for opening the database connection. This information, which is necessary for creating a connection, is dependent on the database platform and encompasses the database names in general, as well as the database host on which the database runs. The string displays the respective client library to which the database needs to create the connection

  • Can't get Microsoft FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i

After considerble discussion in the microsoft.public.frontpage.client newsgroup (subject: "Database | Results ... won't ... through Oracle ODBC"), we had to give up and conclude that there didn't seem to be a straightforward way to connect to Oracle 9.2i via the FrontPage database wizard.
I tried a system Oracle ODBC DSN via MS Access and it worked; but, ` can't get the same DSN to work from FrontPage. From FrontPage it generates a user/password error, though the same user/password works from MS Access.
I tried an OLEDB connection and still received the following:
Server error: Unable to connect to a database from the web server using the
    connection string 'Provider=MSDAORA; PWD=myPwd; UID=Administrator; Data
    Source=glOdb.mikecoughlin.net'.
The following error message comes from the database driver software; it may
appear in a different language depending on how the driver is configured.
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle
    Number: -2147217843 (0x80040e4d)
I'm certain that this user/password combination is valid e.g. it works in Enterprise Manager to view tables etc.
    So, my question is:
Does anyone have a/the workaround to use FrontPage to connect to Oracle 9.2i ?
    thanks,

Trying use ODBC driver of Oracle Client, available on this Web Site.

  • How to reference MS Access database in ColdFusion MX 7 on 64-bit Windows

    I am migrating customers from:
    Windows 2000 Server (fully patched)
    Internet Information Services (IIS) 5
    ColdFusion 5
    to:
Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition (fully patched)
Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 (running in 32-bit
    mode)
    ColdFusion MX 7 (7.0.2) Standard
Unfortunately, some of these existing customers are still
using Microsoft Access databases instead of SQL Server. Having all
of these existing customers migrate to SQL Server is not yet
practical. On the old Windows 2000 / ColdFusion 5 server, they are
using OLE DB data sources to reference the MS Access databases
using the "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" provider. None are configured
to use ODBC drivers when referencing MS Access or SQL Server.
I have yet to figure out how to get ColdFusion MX 7 to:
    - Create a data source that references MS Access databases on
    64-bit Windows.
    - Reference an existing MS Access data source created with
the 32-bit version of the ODBC Data Source Manager on 64-bit
    Windows.
A bit of background information regarding MS Access on 64-bit
    Windows:
    - At the time of this writing, Microsoft has not
created/released 64-bit drivers for Microsoft Access and it's
unlikely they ever will, for understandable reasons.
    - Contrary to seemingly popular belief, the Microsoft Jet 4.0
Database Engine does exist on 64-bit Windows. See the following
regarding version and file location information:
How to obtain the latest service pack for the Microsoft Jet
    4.0 Database Engine
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114
    - You CAN create MS Access based data sources within 64-bit
Windows, but they have to be made using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager". I'm assuming these DSNs may only be used by
32-bit applications, but I have not tested that theory.
    32-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
    64-bit data sources:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    %SystemRoot%\system32\odbcad32.exe
    Registry location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    Default file DSN directory:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\ODBC\Data Sources
The 64-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (under
Administrative Tools) only show "SQL Server" and/or "SQL Native
Client" as options when creating new data sources, unless
third-party software is installed that supplies additional drivers.
The 32-bit version of "ODBC Data Source Manager" (by default,
there is no shortcut for this in the Start menu) shows the typical
drivers seen on 32-bit versions of Windows, including SQL Server,
SQL Native Client, Microsoft Access, Excel, FoxPro, Paradox, etc.
When using ColdFusion Administrator in ColdFusion MX 7.0.2 in
64-bit Windows 2003 (IIS is running in 32-bit mode to allow
ColdFusion MX 7 to function at all), two problems are encountered
when dealing with MS Access (and presumably other 32-bit drivers).
In both cases, ColdFusion is trying to reference the registry
location for 64-bit data sources instead of 32-bit:
    1. Creating a new data source within ColdFusion
    Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access
    CF Data Source Name: whatever
Database file: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(other settings are irrelvant for this example)
    Error generated when submitting:
Unable to update the NT registry.
    Cannot open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC
Data Sources: Windows error number 5 occurred.Access is denied.
ColdFusion stores the data source, however a "verify"
    generates the following error:
Connection verification failed for data source: whatever
    java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC
Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error: Data source name not found and
    no default driver specified
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
    [Macromedia][SequeLink JDBC Driver][ODBC Socket]internal error:
Data source name not found and no default driver specified
    2. Creating the data source using the 32-bit version of "ODBC
Data Source Manager" then trying to reference it with ColdFusion:
    ODBC Data Source Manager:
    System DSN or File DSN:
    Name: whatever
    Driver: Microsoft Access Driver (.mdb)
    Database: (physical path to whatever.mdb)
(creation is successful within ODBC Data Source Manager)
Reference the above DSN within ColdFusion Administrator:
    Data Source Name: whatever
    Driver: ODBC Socket
    Error generated when submitting:
Error accessing available odbc datasources. - Cannot open
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI\ODBC Data Sources:
Windows error 2 occurred. The system cannot find the file specified.
ColdFusion MX 7 can't find the 32-bit data source on 64-bit
Windows because it's looking for it in the wrong registry location.
Can ColdFusion MX 7 be configured to look in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC
    instead of
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
    on a 64-bit Windows machine?

    Paul,
Thanks for the insight on this. Regarding the initial problem
I ran into with creating Access based DSNs, very early-on, I
noticed there were two different driver options for Access
displayed within ColdFusion MX 7 Administrator:
    Microsoft Access
    Microsoft Access with Unicode
For reasons I'm am still baffled over, I somehow completely
forgot about and through the wonders of apparent tunnel vision,
completely overlooked the "Microsoft Access with Unicode" driver
option when I was running through my tests.
At your seemingly-obvious suggestion, I created a data source
using the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver and it worked
perfectly fine with the one customer's web site I'm using for
testing (of course, this is a copy--the production site is still
housed on the old ColdFusion 5 server). This obviously doesn't
actually fix the underlying issue with ColdFusion looking in the
wrong part of the registry on 64-bit Windows, but at least when it
comes to dealing with Access databases, your suggestion of using
the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver appears to be a functional
work-around. So long as there aren't any surprises waiting for me,
hopefully this will also work for the remaining ColdFusion sites I
have to migrate that are using Access databases.
Since you mentioned JDBC drivers in comparison with ODBC, I'm
pointing out a couple of references in case they're helpful to
    anyone following this thread:
ColdFusion MX 7 - About JDBC
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/coldfusion/7/htmldocs/00001736.htm
    Types of JDBC technology drivers
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/driverdesc.html
    http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/
I don't actually develop anything in ColdFusion, so I'm
dealing with all of this from a server administration standpoint
since we do have some domain hosting customers that do develop or
at least have existing ColdFusion based sites. I am all
too-familiar with the caveats of using Access in any kind of
production or heavily used environment and have spent years keeping
users away from ODBC. For ColdFusion users, that meant creating OLE
DB DSNs and often having to fix poorly written SQL statements and
fixing ColdFusion date-related values and boolean values (the
common problems encountered when switching CF / MS Access users
from ODBC to OLE DB). I can only recall running into problems with
a single SQL Server based ColdFusion site when migrating from ODBC
to OLE DB. That customer never did get their many coding problems
fixed, so they're the only ones still using ODBC in CF. I have no
idea what'll happen when that one site gets migrated over--if it'll
even work. Obviously a lot of things have changed between
ColdFusion 5 and the MX versions that have come along afterward.
Thanks again for the Access with Unicode driver tip and JDBC
info. It looks like I can finally start moving forward again with
    the site migration process.

  • Connecting to a database in Dreamweaver/ColdFusion

    Please Help!
I've created database connections to both Mysql and MS Access
databases in the ColdFusion Administrator Data Source page (I've
used both Mysql and Access to test what's wrong with the
    connection).
However, I can't connect to them in Dreamweaver when I go
into the Bindings Panel in order to bind the databases to the
ColdFusion documents I've created in Dreamweaver.
The Dreamweaver Databases panel has the '+' displayed, but
when I click it nothing happens.
The text it displays is: "To use dynamic data on this page:
    1. Create a site for this file
    2. Choose a document type
    3. Set up the site's testing server;
    I've done all these things.
The Bindings panel has the same text as the Databases Panel.
Nothing happens when I click the '+' box.
My Mysql and MS Access databases are in the directory

Remote Info: remote root folder - C:\CFusionMX\db\
Testing Server: server model - ColdFusion ; access -

take to enable remote connections, not 3 as you say - maybe
    you can't
see the other 2 necessary steps (RDS setup and CF DataStore
    setup), or
maybe you are using some old version of DW...
    2) usually the problem is with step 4 - RDS setup. you had to
    enable RDS
support at CF installation. if you didn't - there is a way to
    enable it
without reinstalling cf, and if you search these forums you
    will find
    the answer.
    3) RDS must have a password, which you set up in CF Admin.
    4) i am also not sure about your DW site setup... the remote
    and testing
server settings... the testing server should point to your
    local site's
webroot... did you do the 'test connection' check at the DW
    site setup?
    5) definitely no ZoneAlarm at any time setting up anything
    with cf or mysql!

  • SharePoint Search encodes the URL incorrectly when there are special characters in a filename on a file share

In our Sharepoint Server 2013 CA, Search Administration, Content Sources, we have configured a File Share Content Source.
Search queryes works fine and it returns relevant documents from the file share content source.
But when click on a file with a filename that contains special characters like "ÁÝÚÍÓÐ", Sharepoint encodes the link to the file incorect, and when we click on the link to the file, it throws an error on the screen saying "This
    page can’t be displayed".
The following picture shows an example on how Sharepoint shows encodes the URL to a file with a special character in the filename:
As you can see, the link to the file is
\\xserver1\felagstest\Kompliserað\Ólavur.pdf, but when I hoover over the file, it translates og encodes this to
\\xserver1\Felagstest\Kompliserað\Ólavur.pdf. If I manually type the correct link in the address field in Internet Explorer then it works.
What is the problem here, and more importently what is the solution to this problem?

This is solved in the Hotfix KB 2899469 for SharePoint Server 2013 October 14, 2014:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2014/10/14/october-2014-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
I installed the http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2899469 hotfix, and now I can search and open files on external file shares with path and filenames containing non-US-ASCII characters,
without getting "This page can’t be displayed".
Where in the description of this hotfix is written, that it solves the encoding issue?

  • Is the OBIEE used to create a data warehouses dynamically?

Management where I work wants to use the OBIEE Administrator to source a 3NF normalized database and create a "virtual data warehouse" in the Business Modeling Mapping layer of OBI Administrator as a Star Schema model is required by OBI Business Model layer. They claim they were told by an Oracle sales rep that the Administrator tool could do this.
Is this possible? As OBI issues only SQL and not PL/SQL how can one "create" dimensions, lookup tables and fact tables dynamically? And even if it could the performance hit to recreate the virtual data warehouse each time a query is issued would be huge.
Having used Prism Warehouse Builder and DataStage in the past to create data warehouses I am aware that one needs a procedural programming language to create and maintain the star schema tables (surrogate key maintenance, controling workflows, maintaining slowly changing dimensions, intermediate lookup tables, etc.). SQL was not meant to do this heavy lifting programming. Afterall, isn't this why Oracle Warehouse Builder and previously Informatica is shipped with OBIEE suite because OBI is not an ETL tool to create dimensional models? One uses an ETL tool to create the dimensional data model for OBI to access and pass along the metadata to OBI Answers.
So is it normal practice to use the Administrator's Business Mapping/Modeling layer for creating a virtual star schema logical tables from physical tables that are 3NF? Or is the tool used to access already denormalized tables in the physical layer that were created using Informatica or OWB or other ETL tool?

I asked an "Expert" in OBIEE. Here are snippets of his response:
"Be aware though that the transformation ability is fairly limited, and
will only really work with data that is very close to a star schema, i.e.
the data can be easily transformed through a couple of denormalizations and
table joins. If your source data is very normalized and cannot easily be
transformed into a star schema, you would need to use a tools such as
Informatica, OWB or similar to extract data from your source systems, load
and then transform it into a data warehouse or data mart and report of of
that. The more that your data needs to be transformed (i.e. the closer it
is to a 3NF model) the more likely it is that you'll need to use an ETL
tool, and a data warehouse or data mart, to host your data."
And in response to my noting the lack of documentation on how to model a 3NF to Star Schema his response was:
"No, you're right, the documentation doesn't really go into "how to" turn a 3NF model into a dimensional model. If you look back to when OBIEE was a Siebel product, the documentation was really aimed at either Siebel consultants or customers who had been on the training, they didn't want customers "off the street" to try and implement OBIEE as it would hit their services revenue. That's where the blog posts we do, things like the Oracle-by-example training courses on OTN and so on come in, otherwise as you say there's little out there on the best way to transform your model - it's mostly passed on "word of mouth" or is built up from experience on working on projects."

  • Reg vendor in PO

    Hi
Iam creating a po using ME59 i.e automatic conversion of requistion to PO.Though iam not assigning any vendor to requistion ,i seea vendor number in my PO.
I thought the vendor numberis based on material number. I checked in EINA AGAINST THAT MATERIAL NUMBER AND THE VENDOR NUMBER I SEE IN po and eina against the same material no is different. Is there any way that i can identify or know why this vendor is being selected or is there anything in settings that we can always select this vendor only.
    Please let me know

    Hi Swathi,
The source list is used in the administration of sources of supply.
It specifies the allowed (and disallowed) sources of a material for a certain plant within a predefined period. Each source is defined by means of a source list record.
    The source list serves:
To define a source of supply as "fixed". Such sources count as preferred sources over a certain period of time.
(For example, the fixed vendor for material 1 is Acme Corp. for the first quarter and Zenith Co. for the second quarter of the year.)
Just go thru this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/75/ee1fa755c811d189900000e8322d00/frameset.htm
    Hope this clarifies.

    NetFlow is also supported by these devices Cisco 800, 1700, 1800, 2800, 3800, 6500, 7300, 7600, 10000, CRS-1 and these Catalyst series switches: 45xx, 55xx, 6xxx.
NetFlow export is also supported on other Cisco switches when using a NetFlow Feature Card (NFFC) or NFFC II and the Route Switch Module (RSM), or Route Switch Feature Card (RSFC). However, check whether version 5 is supported, as most switches export version 7 by default.
You can check the below steps to diagnose the issue::
To verify that NetFlow is exported from a device to PI, follow the steps below:
    1)    Browse to Administration > Data Sources page. Check the value in column ‘Last Active Time’  for the ‘Device Data Sources’ table. If the table is empty or  the value does not represent recent time, then
it is possible that the device is not exporting NetFlow or PI Assurance license is not applied / expired.
    2)    Login to PI console ( via SSH) as root user and run the command:
                    netstat –an | grep 9991 – Output of this should be like :  udp        0      0 :::9991         :::*
Check the firewall settings on PI server using the command: firewall -L
    1)    Check the configuration on an IOS / IOS –XE device. Run the commands
    a)    sh running-config | inc destination
    1)    This should list the IP address of the PI SERVER ( along with other outputs if any)
    b)    sh running-config | inc 9991
    1)    This should list at least one entry.
    c)    If the above are fine, then verify that the flow monitor, flow exporter and the flow records are correctly configured on the device.
Refer to the URLs below to configure NetFlow export.
