EPM 11.1.2.1 add a MSAD user to a HSS native group via MaxL command

Hi there
I want to take over MSAD user as EPM (Essbase) user in a HSS native group via MaxL command:
This works fine as long as the user is already in at least one other group (with at least server access).
If I want to do same for a "new" user it fails.
Is there any trick to also make it work for this case?
see here:
alter user 'mynewuser' add to group 'ALL_SERVER_ACCESS_ ESS1';
ERROR - 1051012 - User mynewuser does not exist.
or even
alter user 'mynewuser@domain' add to group 'ALL_SERVER_ACCESS_ ESS1';
ERROR - 1051012 - User mynewuser@domain does not exist.
Thanks in advance!
Regards
Andre

You will probably need issue a create first for example
create or replace user 'essuser' type external;
alter user 'essuser' add to group essgroup;
or
create or replace user 'essuser@LDAPNAME' type external;
alter user 'essuser@LDAPNAME' add to group essgroup;
Cheers

• MSAD users are not able to login into the Essbase

Hi ,
I am on 11.1.2.2 . We just configured MSAD with shared services. There are native groups with provisionings and we add the MSAD users to this group to provide authorization.
he search order of MSAD is 2 while that of Nativedirectory is 1. . The msad user is able to log into to all other products like shared services , workspace , EPMA but login fails for ESSBASE(through maxl) and EASConsole. When I checked the users table from EAS console I found that MSAD users are present in the users list .
Can anybody know how to refresh my Essbase sec file in an ad-hoc manner so that my MSAD users are reflected in the sec file ???
Thanks in Advance,
SS

I couldnt find any error that might be the reason for my issue.

I tried it , i.e limiting the number of groups in MSAD .. it didnt work.

• Can you add delegate access to a user's calendar or mailbox folder via powershell?

Basically I want to know if you can grant a user delegate access to another user's calendar or meeting room using native powershell commands?
I know you can do this via method 1, listed below, however when you grant permissions in this way and if a user wants to see who has delegate access to their calendar or inbox by going to delegate access in outlook they will not see user's who have access
to their calendar or inbox.
Method 1:
Add-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity "userA:\Calendar" -User UserB -AccessRights editor
The above is a nice and simple way of granting userB EDITOR access to UserA's calendar.
But as stated above as you are using mailboxFolderPermissions and not DelegateAccess, this applies directly to this folder and if userA goes to their delegate access view in Outlook, they will not see that userB has access to their calendar.
I know that you can use the below commands to see a list of user's who have delegate access to you calendar:
Get-Mailbox userA | Get-CalendarProcessing | select resourcedelegates
I am new to powershell and don't know if there is a way of setting delegate access to a user's calendar or inbox/folder via powershell commands, similar to the above.
Any help with this query would be much appreciated!
thanks

Delegate access is simply a combination of folder rights (which you've described) and Send As right, which is conferred by Add-MailboxPermission or Send On Behalf of right, which I'm not sure if you can confer with PowerShell. Set-CalendarProesssing applies
to resource mailboxes like conference rooms, not to user mailboxes.
Update: "Send on Behalf of" is conferred this way:

• Provisioning lost against native groups when new MSAD domain added

Hi,
HSS and essbase 9.3.1
I have added an additional MSAD domain. There are native groups with what was the only msad domain users were in. On Oracle's direction I applied a hss patch ( 7020560) which resolves a problem where there is a confliction with two msad domains and native groups. I had successfully done this is development. However, in production only the new domain and the test user is listed as a user in essbase. I exported the sec file and the existing users are not present. I have tried the following
1. Provisioned user directly from the old domain, refreshed HSS and this worked
2. Removed the new domain from the search order - all the users come back
3. Changed the search order (2 >3) and this made no difference
4. Ensured the patch was applied correctly (replace two ,jar files, create some indexes against the HSS db and reploy application server.
I am restarting all the services for completeness.
I would appreciate any help. The logs are giving nothing concrete away.
Thanks,
Nathan

Don't worry.

• Configuring MSAD user directories in System 11

All,
I've just installed System 11.1.1.2 in a test environment to get familiar with the produce. I manually configured the first provider with the Shared Services console and it works great.
My plan was to find the CSS.xml file and insert the remainder of my MSAD providers from my System 9 environment. I've run into a snag. I can find css.xml, but it doesn't list the provider I added. Are these providers stored someplace else in System 11?
Thanks for any information.
Keith

Hi,
I have to revisit this because I came across another problem with the css.xml file. I was trying to use the CSSImport utility to copy my production 9.3.1 shares services data into the System 11 shared services. It imported all of the native directory stuff just fine but it errored out on anything that had a MSAD provider associated with it (users and groups).
I couldn't figure out what was wrong so I though maybe I had the wrong format. I added a MSAD user to one of my native groups and did an export to compare the format. It didn't export the MSAD user. I can see the user in SS but the shared services output log complained that it couldn't find the provider associated with the user.
I though maybe it had something to do with the default ports changing for Shared Services in System 11 (58080 is now 28080). The example property files that come in the cssimportexport.zip still have 58080 so you need to change it to 28080 for it to find shared services.
I also noticed that the property files have this entry referencing the css.xml file:
importexport.css=file:/d:/Hyperion/deployments/Tomcat5/SharedServices9/config/CSS.xml
I went back to my version 9.3.1 css.xml file and copied the MSAD providers to the version 11 css.xml file and the import worked. Maybe there is a new entry needed in the property file to reference what is stored in the Oracle repository?
Any other ideas why I needed to add this manually.

• Essbase native security mode and MSAD users

Hi guys,
I'm trying to solve following question:
I need to keep Essbase in native security mode, ie. to assign security for users directly in EAS, not in HSS console. And I need to grant access to MSAD users, ie. to allow users to connect to Essbase using their MSAD usernames and passwords.
How to do that?
Thanks!
Vladino

You don't state what release you're on -- I think it varies slightly from release to release although the concept is mostly the same.
Have you read this in the EAS help?
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/eas_help/extauthen.html
I think this help is missing the step where you tell Essbase what the external authenticators are. From reading about the AUTHENTICATIONMODULE Essbase.cfg setting:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/authenticationmodule.html
It seems that:
When you run Oracle's Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Configurator, Essbase is automatically registered with Shared Services (unless you select the option to deploy Essbase in standalone mode) and this setting is automatically added to essbase.cfg.So I'm not quite sure where that leaves you -- where do you config the external authentication? Hopefully someone more installation-centric than I (which would be just about everyone in the known universe) can jump in here. I have to say that I haven't used non-Shared Services authentication since System 9 came out -- it just makes life too easy for my clients to manage security in one place.

I got the error as below:
The provided entry cn=oimuser,cn=Root DNs,cn=config cannot be added because its suffix is not registered with the network group network-group
Would you please advise how I can fix that? Thanks

I got the reason. cn=config is an administrative suffix.
In general, direct LDAP access to the administrative suffixes (using
the ldap* utilities) is discouraged. In most cases, it is preferable
to use the dedicated administrative command-line utilities to access
these suffixes.
If you must use the ldap* commands to access the administrative
suffixes, you must use the administration connector port (with the
--useSSL or -Z option).
It works when I use the command:
./ldapmodify -h localhost -p 4444 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w Oracle123 --defaultAdd -Z --filename admin.ldif
You can verify it by:
./ldapsearch -h localhost -p 4444 -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password --useSSL -b "cn=root DNs,cn=config" "cn=oimuser"

• How can i add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating ?

when a new personal site is created on the sharepoint online 2013, then the administrator of this personal site will be himself. we can add another person to the "site collection administrators", then this person have full control of this personal
site.
but my request is : add this personal to the personal site when the personal site is creating, but not after the personal site has created ?
Is anybody know how to do that?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to add a special user to the "site collection administrators" of the personal site on sharepoint online when the personal site is creating.
Per my knowledge,
there is no out of the box way to accomplish this with SharePoint.

• Add userid to user group in Windows Vista OS

The operating system is WINDOWS VISTA on my machine. I successfully installed Oracle 10 R2 10.2.0.3 and upgraded it to 10.2.0.4.
I have the following issue after upgrading to 10.2.0.4:
From the DOS command prompt, I ran as "Run as Administrator" and then did I did sqlplus /nolog.
I have the following issue when I CONNECT / AS SYSDBA:
When I do sqlplus /nolog and CONNECT / AS SYSDBA, I get the following error:
SQL> connect / as sysdba
ORA-01031 insufficient privileges
{color:#0000ff}I should be able to CONNECT / AS SYSDBA without using the SYS password to do exports and imports.
Oracle suggests that I could ADD my userid on my machine to the ORA_DBA group (Windows Group) and this could fix the issue.
Please let me know where I can find the ORA_DBA group (Windows Group) in WINDOWS VISTA.
How do I add my userid to the ORA_DBA group in Windows Vista?

Thanks!

• Can't add a new user

Running 10.8.5 Server on a Mini Server. ~200 users. Users are able to logon to their Network Home Directories, use email, change passwords, etc. They don't seem to see any trouble.
A few weeks ago it stopped letting me add new users, neither via the Accounts -> Users pane in Server.app nor via Workgroup Manager.app.
The only error message is a cryptic "Connection failed to the directory server." The only response offered is OK.
The only relevant lines in /var/log/system.log are:
Nov 4 13:41:38 mac001.phy.ilstu.edu com.apple.SecurityServer[21]: Succeeded authorizing right 'system.privilege.admin' by client '/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/ServerEventAgent' [115] for authorization created by '/Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/libexec/ServerEventAgent' [115] (2,0)

which look as though the request succeeded, when it didn't.
Any ideas what I might look at?

Followup 2: The discussion in another thread from 4 years ago
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2146764?start=15&tstart=0
... suggests it's a LDAP/Kerberos problem, although the solution in that thread doesn't even seem to be available in the new Server.app. They may be right - that stuff is pure black-box voodoo to me.
Anyway, that thread said to turn on SSL LDAP in Open Directory. I looked in my Certificates panel, and it seems to be already turned on for all services including Open Directory (except web pages, for which it just breaks any page that uses port 80). My self-signed LDAP certificates all seem to be valid and not expired.
Where else can I look?

• Windows SBS 2011 - I can't add a new user through the SBS Console

I have recently installed SBS 2011 and this is my first install of SBS since 2003.
After the installation I went to the SBS Console to add a new user and when I select 'Add a new user account' and base it on the Standard User account i get a message saying 'Add a New User Account failed', when i view the details for this it says "The User
Account cannot be added. Ensure that the Active Directory Domain Services service is running....
I searched the web for this and found the following which was not applicable http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958890
I then resorted to adding the users via AD Users and Computers and the modifying the value in the ADSI for msSBSCreationState to 'Created' and then it appeared in the console, i then used the console to change the user role for this account to Standard User.
But when i now click on the "Edit User Account Properties" action i get a pop up message from SBS Server saying "There is no such object on the server".
Any ideas on ow to fix this broken console would be appreciated.
Thanks,
