EPSXe from AUR not running on x86_64

I got the AUR of epsxe and epsxe-launcher and made/installed them but they did not download all of my dependencies. That is they require some 32 bit libraries. I get an ELFCLASS error about the libgtk. I can't find a lib32 version of libgtk, has someone made an AUR or will I have to figure out how to put it into the right place myself?
Thanks.

Huh, that never came up on my searchs.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
I'm use to searching for things both with the lib prefix and without. In this case I already knew what you were looking for, but I would have done first libgtk, then gtk, and web searched for 'libgtk package'.

  • Why does ePSXe from AUR require root?

I installed ePSXe from AUR and all of the plugins including eternal spu, however, I find that I cannot change settings unless I run it as root, eternal spu cannot access /dev/dsp without root, and I can't even save game states without root. How can I make it run properly in userspace?

That's because until recently, ePSXe's PKGBUILD installed everything with standard permissions--that is, executable files get 755, everything else gets 644.
It wasn't until I started trying to use ePSXe myself (I didn't start using ePSXe until version 1.9.0 came out, which included built-in `core' plugins, and so--although I was maintaining the PKGBUILD--I wasn't actually aware that things didn't work.  Apologies.
Try re-installing/updating ePSXe from the AUR and that should resolve the issue.
EDIT: Sorry for the necro-bump, I figured it'd be worth it since this could potentially resolve this post.

  • Ddclient from aur not found

    hi,
do you know how ddclient from aur :
    http://cvs.archlinux.org/cgi-bin/viewcv … ag=CURRENT
    have error:
    404 - Page Not Found
Sorry, the page you've requested does not exist.
    thankyou

The whole cvs.archlinux.org site got a bit screwed over in the switch from cvs to svn for core and extra. This will get fixed eventually.  In the meantime you can get the PKGBUILDs for community using ABS.

  • 32-bit binary does not run on x86_64, ldd not a dynamic executable

    Hi,
I switched from Ubuntu 8.10 x86_64 to arch linux x86_64 a short while ago and have an issue running 32-bit proprietary binary that dynamically links to some libraries.
ldd insists "not a dynamic executable"
How am I supposed to resolve the issue? Running this 32-bit binary using 64-bit Ubuntu was never an issue.
    Best Regards,

if i create a chroot environment can 64-bit programs in our tool chain call the 32-bit binary using exactly the same ways they would do on a working multilib environment? btw vanilla ubuntu 9.04 64-bit has the same issue, so I'm a bit at a loss now hehe.

  • Strange software from AUR - epsxe

    Hello,
today i downloaded epsxe from aur
first, the md5-sum was wrong, so i disabled it.
then when i run the program it made a folder .epsxe under /home/user/ but owned by root ?!?!
then i had a problem, because no space was free under /-root
i dont want to publish FUD but maybe s.o. should check this

did you use a sudo in front of the yaourt command or maybe use the root account to install it? That could explain why it was owned by root.

    Can you check if:
    sudo mkdir /etc/hal/fdi
    sudo touch /etc/hal/fdi/policy
    solves the problem?

  • Could not build cups-canon-3.00 from AUR

    Hi!
I'm coming from linux mint and I'm totally amazed by simplicity of Arch Linux. However, I have problem with installing my printer (Canon IP1900). I'm unable to install canon-cups-3.00 from AUR (using yaourt). It gives me this error:

  • [SOLVED] Unable to build packages from AUR (build: command not found)

I recently hosed the filesystem on my arch install of ~8 months. I reinstalled arch today and didn't have many problems since I had backups of many important config files. Anyways, I still need to get a few programs installed from AUR, but nothing I get from AUR will build.
I download the tarball, extract into a folder in /home/myuser/builds and then go into that folder and run makepkg -s (as always)
It checks the files and extracts/downloads them. Then I get the following error message:
    ==> Starting build()...
/usr/bin/makepkg: line 741: build: command not found
    ==> ERROR: Build Failed.
    Aborting...
I've run abs and I checked out the abs wiki page, I've also installed base-devel. I am not sure what else I need to do, the error message is not specific enough.
The packages I have been trying to install are      ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-7,      keepass 2.14-2, and I also tried ttf-vista-fonts 1-3. I am fairly certain that it is not a problem with the PKGBUILD files.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    cyrus wrote:Have you tried Yaourt?
Nope, haven't tried that, I think mainly because I wanted to learn how to use pacman and how to build using ABS. At this point I think I know how to use pacman/abs, as much as this thread might make it appear that I dont
I'll give it a try, as I frequently install software from AUR. In the past I think I let software from the AUR get outdated, Yaourt (clumsy name) sounds like it would help that a bit. Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I really love Arch. I tried it out on a flash drive about 8 months ago (maybe more), and after about 12 hours I was sold and installed it on the drive that Windows XP previously held. Even considering that I had many problems during the initial install, but they were all problems that caused me to learn and were easy to resolve. Seriously, I have lots of Windows tech experience, but only Arch forced me to learn Linux. I had tried Ubuntu previously but it was such a bore, and the problems tended to be hard to find solutions for. I try to convince my other Linux using friends to try arch, but they see it as too hands-on. I don't see it that way, it is very hands off after initial configuration, and the initial config only takes a week or less on the first try and a day and a half (or so) if you re-install. Having backups of your config files is of course a huge deal, and I am glad I had most of those.
Really, I love Arch Linux, it has taught me so much.

  • [SOLVED]Intel XDK AUR package is not running

    Hi,
I have installed Intel-XDK from AUR:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/intel-xdk/
The install completed successfully but when i tried to launch the program by typing intel-xdk or intel-xdk.sh nothing happens. And there is no error message. This is freshly installed 64 bit ArchLinux with PekWM.
Last edited by Paingiver (2015-02-02 22:21:17)

Thank you Lone_Wolf for alerting me about the matter.  I think it is a problem for some other programs too because someone created an AUR package just for this symlink:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libudev.so.0/
When the package didn't run without any error message i emailed the AUR maintainer. He quickly replied and said he is a developer at Intel and will look into matter when he got free time. I searched the internet but couldn't find a lot of information about it. Then i stumbled upon a thread on Manjaro(https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=11695.0) forums. In their system AUR package was giving the error of libudev.so.0 not found and suggested to install AUR package libudev.so.0. Installed that and program worked.
What can we do about that beside that symlinking?
Later edit: Also i stumbled upon some post that Intel-Xdk Linux install script looks for a package named gtk2. If your distro's gtk2 package is not named gtk2 it is not installing. Someone created a dummy gtk2 package and fooled the program to run.
Why install scripts from big companies always have problems on Linux? Until today there isn't even one package that haven't given me problems. On the other side installed a lot of Linux distros and %99 of time it went flawlessly.

  • CSCur57111 - VMWare tools not running after upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3

I guess that we need to create a TAC case to be able to run this script as root ?
    regards
    Gudmundur

I've upgrade from v1.2 to v1.3 (in a test-lab so far). I also found this problem of VMWare reporting the VM tools are not running, despite my changing the host type to RedHat6/x64.
Did you manage to figure out how to get ROOT access to be able to run the fix they mention?

I can't say personally since I never used AW, but see if these articles help:

I suggest that you clone your current drive with 10.6.8 to an external drive. If you have any issues after upgrading to Mavericks, you can boot back into 10.6.8.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone. If you need help creating your clone, let us know.

    Hi Samcat,
You can use a download instead of the disk as an alternative: Adobe - Download free trial version Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 | Adobe you can license with your serial
Please test the disk in another windows machine to check if it's caused by the drive or the disk. If you tested with 2 drives please start a support case, i assume Adobe will only provide downloads at this point. They are the same as the trials. If you still need a disk you can burn the trial to a disk as a backup disk. Good luck!

  • Epilogue.ps not running when exporting from InDesign

    Hello All.
Ive added some postscript in the Epilogue.ps file which changes the initial view of my PDFs as follows:
    [ /PageMode /UseThumbs
    /Page 1
    /View [/Fit ]
    /DOCVIEW pdfmark
Ive edited the default settings (a job ive called small to make lores multiple page PDF's) and when distilling through distiller this works fine. However when i Export as a PDF from Indesign (CS3) using the same job settings it does not run the Epilogue.ps.
I dont want to have to save each file as a .ps from InDesign and have to distill them all, it stakes twice as long.
Apart from printing to the Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer does anyone know why this is happening?
    W
Also has anyone come up with an automated way on Enabling for comments yet?

Export as a PDF/X file (PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-3, PDF/X4). With a PDF/X file, Acrobat or Reader turns on Overprint Preview even if the Output Preview panel is not open. (When Output Preview panel is open, Overprint Preview is turned on by default.)

  • SWF files not running from some lab computers

    Hello,
Our Flash lab is experiencing strangeness on 8 of its 28 computers. When students create an animation and export it as an SWF file, the animation will not run. They can play the animation from within Flash itself (Enter cmd... watch the timeline progress)... but it just won't run as an SWF file.
SWF files that are created on any of the non-problematic computers will run on the problem computers, but not the other way around (problem computer> good computer).
I'm not familiar enough with Flash to troubleshoot this problem. I know that the entire lab was created from one image and all the computers are the same model Dell, running Creative Suite 4 Premium on XP Pro. It is becoming an issue for students as the lab is full and they are having trouble completing their assignments.
Does anyone have an idea of what's going on... or where to start looking?
    Thanks,
    Alan

Thanks for the reply Ned. I've checked and the lab is still at the same version. I did find that if we recreated the student's profile and they started out on one of the "good" computers that any future work on a "bad" computer would work.
I also narrowed it down to a 3D animation... not just any animation that wouldn't work. It seems like the program isn't loading up everything when a student starts Flash for the first time on one of the "bad" computers. Students that first start on a "good" computer can run 3D SWF files successfully on a "bad" computer.
Well, at least recreating the student profiles is a bandaide fix for now. But I'd like to figure out what went wrong with those 8 computers (I did reload CS on a couple of them... didn't help).

  • Document from last posting run in 2007 are not yet updated

    Hi Guru's,
When I run the AJRW fiscal year change 2009, it was not successful because a system message says" fiscal year change in company code XXX, possible only after year end closing 2007.
So I execute AJAB-Year End closing in 2007, in Tab " Closed Carried Out - it say "NO", when i double click  it says: "Document from last posting run in 2007 are not yet updated"
So i check it in SM35 to see when did this error started, i found out it started at around mid 2007, July, status is In background instead of Processed. Out of 15 thousand transaction, 14 of which got an error.
Please help how we are able to post asset accounting for 2009.
    Thanks
    Mila
Edited by: Mila Calonge on May 4, 2009 10:02 AM

check the error log why the transactions are not processed. Recreate the session with transaction code AFBD giving the year and fiscal period and check the error log. It will give the clue why the transactions are not processed.
Those might not have processed due to GL account assignment or cost center master data issues.
