Equipment Selection/Setup Help

I'm helping someone setup a network in their new office and want to see if my equipment selection is correct. The products of the Small Business suite seemed to meet our needs as best I could tell. There is a dizzying array of products to choose from. I did my best.
Here are the requirements:
1. Need a Wireless AP to handle a Guest connection to Internet only and an employee connection to corp network services and Internet.
2. They have two buildings with a multimode fiber link between them.
3. Each building will have security camera's using PoE.
4. Remote Access to all VLANS in the buildings (except Guest)
a. PCAnywhere to Security PC on VLAN30
b. File services on VLAN20
5. All VLANS need internet access. I guess the Mgmt VLAN40 wouldn't need it.
I planned on purchasing the following:
WAP561 for Wireless - Wanted both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies
SF300-24P switch - 1 for each building w/ a 1000Base-SX module MGBSX1 for fiber link
RV320 Router/VPN
My first design attempt was to create the following VLANS on all devices
1 - Default VLAN, Native VLAN - Nothing will use this
10 - Guest, WAP Only, NO hardwired connections
20 - Corp, WAP and Wired
30 - Security, Wired Only at this point
40 - Mgmt, WAP and Wired
Trunks carrying All VLANS will be used for the AP<->Switch1,
Router<->Switch1 and Switch1<->Switch2 connections.
I'm most concerned with the Router/VPN setup.
Before we decided on adding VPN to the project I was thinking this would not be difficult to do. Turn off Inter-VLAN routing, setup a DHCP pool for each VLAN and everyone stays out of each others way. But then I opened my big mouth and asked if they wanted remote access.
So, what VPN setup would allow us to get to all the VLANS? Would PPTP work best? Is Inter-VLAN routing required? If I turn on Inter-VLAN routing would that mean that Guests could get to the other VLANS? Will an access list allow me to prevent Guests from crossing over?
Any glaring issues anyone sees?

Hi Mark, admittingly I'm not familiar with the new RV320 router or the new WAP's. However, I can affirm that the basic set up should work as expected and you correctly identified the remote access is the hitch.
On the previous RV routers PPTP would be the easiest to get on to the network. The real question is, the remote connection what resource does it need access to? Surely not a guest network. In the past, if you wanted PPTP to intervlan communicate you would need the PPTP to connect in to one of the defined subnets and have the intervlan routing enabled.
This provides a different scenario. Meaning this would require access lists on the switch ports for the ingress traffic to be blocked from accessing undesired resources. I'm not sure if the RV320 supports inter-vlan ACL, I know it was introduced on the RV220w but that can be another idea to combat this concept.
So I think the consideration for now is, who needs access to what as a remote connection?

I am unable to select setup language while installing Crystal Reports2011/SAP BO4.0. It does not show default language 'as English' over there.
It shows all fields with # sign like #Choosesetuplanguage# and other buttons also appears like this #Ok# and #cancel#. It does not show any language in drop-down, hence I am not able to select language from drop-down box. Drop-down box is blank.
When I click on #Ok# button it shows new message like #Validation failed#.

mmmm. That is odd, must be something missing or permission problem.
Log out and log back in as the local PC Adminsitrator and do a repair install, may have to completely uninstall and re-install it again.
That messed up dialog text suggests you don't have something installed correctly or access denied error.
Look in the install log, should be in your \%user%\AppData\Local\Temp folder. See if it has any access denied errors.
But try instlaling under local PC Admin account first.

Office 365 setup help.

Hello
How do we setup Office 365?
I tapped on setup and in the list of email servers, I selected Hotmail and put up the credential. Like in NOKIA Faq it asks to sign using outlook but I did it with hotmail. Is it okay? It still shows up option to setup if I tap Office 365 option in 'places.'
Before this I had already setup Email and accounts and using skydrive, but not office 365.

Here is the instruction on how you can setup the Office 365 on your phone.
To configure an Office 365 account:
1. First select the Office Hub and swipe over to Locations.
2. Tap Office 365 and select Setup.
3. Choose a new Outlook account.
4. Fill in the account credentials (Office 365 email address and password).
5. Once your email set up is complete, press Finish. Then the SharePoint site is automatically added to the locations panel.
6. Tap Team site, fill in a separate authentication to access your company SharePoint.

I am new to using CS5 and I am having a few different problems. I am not sure but I think they all stem from improper setup. I had used dreamweaver mx 2004 to set up a few sites back in 2004-5 so I am am somehwat familiar with setup, however, besides trying out CS5 on a new computer, I also now have a QNAP 459+ NAS which I am using as the remote server (as opposed to a site through go daddy or other).
I have PHP and mysql running on my NAS, and I have also installed Xampp on my computer. (first off I was not sure that I needed this because I have a server (NAS), but I decided to install so because I was pretty sure that my local machine needed apache running in order to parse php scripts before they run on the server) In XAMPP control panel, I get the following:
Where it says apache is started but up above it does not say that it is running. When I try to view PHP code in dreamweaver from the local site, it just shows the little PHP emblem and does not process the code. It does process php if I access the page from the server by typing the address in a browser. It does not process at all in dreamweaver.
I also get the following errors in dreamweaver which I am not sure but I think are related:
"dynamically-related files could not be resolved because your credentials don't allow file activity on the server"
and
"An unknown error occurredwhile discovering dynamically related files. Retry."
I am not sure if I have multiple problems or just one which is causing all these symptoms, but any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

Prerequisites for multi selection value help

Hi everyone,
a couple of blogs and forum entries show multi selection value helps in VC. I, on the other hand, have so far been unable to do this. The only option I get in the first step of the value help wizard is the "single selection" type. Even if I start off with a blank form view and add a text input field I cannot choose anything apart from a single selection value help. Is there something I am completely missing? I stumbled upon a note bringing this into connection with OLAP source systems, but I can't quite see why this should change anything since the source system is not selected until step 2 of the wizard.
Any idea on this? Thanks a lot,

thanks for the hints, I got it working now, regardless of whether you use an OLAP source system, variables or the respective input port, though. It seems to suffice to connect the query directly to a form view to get the additional options. My problem was then that I had a form view connected to a nested iview. I should be able to connect it to both a query and the iview, though.

Setup & Help buttons stopped working

I recently upgraded wireless network from WEP to WPA. Lost wireless connectivity to 3310 All-in-One, and now Setup & Help buttons don't work so I can't connect to new network. What happened? Is there a way to setup new network without accessing Setup menu on device?

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page. Run the software, making sure there is no USB cable attached. Choose "Network" or "Wireless" connection type when it asks. Plug in a USB cable (temporarily) when it asks.

Equipment selection in QA32

How can we have equipment selection in QA32 for calibration lots, Can we bring equipment field in Dynamic Selection functionality in QA32.
QE51N t code have the functionality of equipment wise selection for calibration lots. But Usage Decision and Certificate printing cannot be done through QE51N.
Please let me know, if anyone bought equipment filed in selection window of QA32. If not can we add equipment field inside Dynamic Selection tab.

Check QE51N screen , both the function UD, Certif printing are possible w.r.t Equipment selection
In tool bar goto Environment>Insp processing>certif creation
For UD in QE51N , execute system displays list of Inspection lot for ur selection, now just select the Inspection lot no and right clik to selct UD , system directs to QA11. Check and revert back.

Cs4 in design page setup help cm, mm, inches change

hi all
i dont know if i am being totally stupid but whaen i go to start up an new document in indesign cs4 i can sem to change my page dimension option to cm, inches or mm it comes up like - 51p0 x 66p0 etc
can someone tell me how to change this so i can make my pages in mm, cm or inches?

With no files open, edit your preferences and change units to inches.
That said, InDesign will convert units so if you type 11 in, even though the document uses picas, it will convert the inches to picas for you.

I am trying to work out the best way to configure the following components so I can mix 2 tunes - listen to the mix on one channel and the incoming song on the headphones.
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro
GigaWorks 7.
Tracktor DJ Studio
Currently with the Gigaworks connected to the Audigy and the headphones connected into the External IO Hub - selecting any combination of channels in Traktor to become master or headphone yields all tunes being played through speakers and headphones.
Reading the spec on the Audigy it appears I can use Line out on the soundcard itself to connect the headphones direct - but with the Gigaworks requiring all 3 line outs - how should i then best connect the speakers?
The Traktor instructions indicate that this config is possible using a multichannel soundcard - which this is.
I've attempted config in Traktor using all of the following Audio Devices:-
SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO [ECCO]
SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 [ECCO]
Creative ASIO
DS SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [ ECCO]
No luck with any of them.
Im obviously not understanding something - and im sure im not the first person to attempt this.
Any help appreciated.

I think what you're missing is that the headphone out is really connected to the same signal as the front speakers out. The assumption is that you're either going to be listening to the headphones or to the speakers. Tracktor can probably use the soundcard channels independently, but anything directed to the headphones also goes to the front speaker output. I believe you can set things up so plugging in the headphones will mute the speakers, but that doesn't help the front speakers play a different signal than the headphones.
I don't think there's a connection setup which you can use both for Tractor and for 7. listening. You can probably get Tractor to send the output you want to hear on your headphones to line out 2 and the mixed signal to line out . That would mean connecting the headphones to what is normally the surround left/right output, which you'd need to disconnect from the speakers while you're doing this.
If you end up trying to rig up switching to help you go back and forth, using 4 Sony-type camcorder cables for line out 2 and 3, and 2 stereo minijack to RCA cables will probabably be helpful because it will be a lot easier to get RCA-connector switching than 4-pole minijack switching.

Page Setup Help

Hello,
I have been working on a pamphlet for my university. Now the size of the page is 8.5 inch by 11 inch. I am designing two pages (front and back) with this page measurement. However, I am also required to print another version of the pamphlet with the page size being 17 inch by 11 inch (Pretty much just merging the front and back side in a top to bottom style in a longer page). I was wondering if there was an easy way to print it like that without having to modify or edit the designs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Were I to do it:
If you do this on a document where the spreads are not together as I suggested...
1) Change the layout to portrait (File > Document Setup, change to portrait). This will cause the content to no longer fit the new orientation.
2) Next, rotate the spread 90 CW so that it is back to landscape mode when you view it on screen (View > Rotate Spread > 90 CW)
3) Then, rotate the content on the docuent so that it is laid out on the page as intended. This should be as easy as selecting it all and setting the object rotation to 0.
4) Repeat steps 2-3 for page 2
5) join the spreads as I suggested.
If you have already joined the spreads...
1) Do step 1 above
2) Do step 3 for both sides (although you may have to set the rotation to 90 degrees) and reposition on the page
3) do step 2 above.
Note the orientation of the page and the spread in the pages panel. Also note the rotation icon to the right of the spread in the pages panel. InDesign CS4 and later.

Setup Help for 2 Wireless and 1 Wired Router!

Hello,
I hope this is the appropriate forum for this request. I am helping a neighbor who has just come out of the hospital. Since he will be homebound for quite sometime, he needs to enhance his home network. I offered my help and now I am looking for some assistance. :-)
Currently he has DSL which goes from his DSL modem into Linksys WRTG54G v2 router in a basement. The wireless signal does not travel very far. Fortunately there are 3 ethernet jacks that are present. Two of those jacks run to an office on the first floor, the third runs to the office on the second floor.
Additional equipment we have are a Linksys BEFSR41 v2 wired router and another WRTG54G v6 wireless router. On the 1st floor there are 3 devices which need to be connected (a PC, a Mac and an HP printer) and the second floor is where he will be roaming with the laptop.
Given this, my guess the best setup would be:
Basement the wired router running to the three ethernet ports (2 on the first floor, the third on the second floor).
On the First floor, use on of the ethernet extensions to connect the wireless router. Then from the router ports, connect to the 3 devices (PC, Mac, HP printer) via ethernet. This will also send out a wireless signal if a wireless device (laptop) in the vicinity.
Then on the second floor, plug the other wireless router into the ethernet port and have it emit the wireless signal.
I should note that the second floor is really the only floor which is essential to have the wireless signal
So my questions are this:
1a)Could the above scenario actually work?
1b)Is there are a better setup then what I thought
2a)I imagine that I will need to change the IP for two of the devices from 192.168.1.1 to something like 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.3.1, correct?
2b)In addition I will need to disable DHCP on 2 of the 3 routers, but which one? I imagine that one on the second floor?
3) What else do I need to do?

yes , you can certainly use that kind of a set up...
BEFSR41 in the basement......if you are configuring the wireless router on the first floor for an ethernet to ethernet connection , the ip add on it should be 192.168.1.2 and disable the dhcp....if you go for an ethernet to internet connection then the ip address of the wireless router should be 192.168.2.1....no need to disable the dhcp....
similarly configure the wireless router on the 2nd floor...if an ethernet to ethernet connection then ip add - 192.168.1.3 and dhcp is disabled....and if ethernet to internet connection , then ip add 192.168.3.1....
make the wireless settings unique for each router and so that ensure whether you are connecting to the 1st router or the 2nd router.....

ICal Server setup help !!!

I would like to share my experience with setting up the iCal server and all the hick ups I had to get it finally working. At least what worked for me. Check the basics before you start.
This is all done from after installing the server in Advanced setup or so to say normal installation as it was under Tiger. I'm trying to summarize what I have done. It took me a lot of hours do. So if I mis something feel free to reply with the missing things. Maybe together we can setup a working manual for all others that have problems with the setup and lack documentation from Apple.
1) Make sure your DNS is setup properly and working. Test it with:
type: “named-checkconf” in de root account of the terminal. Nothing should happen thats OK
type: “named-checkzone” in de root account of the terminal make sure you use the complete path and bare in mind that Apple changed the DNS setup again pointing to something like var/named/zones/db.example.come.zone.apple. The serial of the DNS should load and you should receive a OK. Make sure that your server IP is also mentioned in the system preferences/network DNS so you can use for example the server.example.com in server admin.
2) Either use SSL or don't when you want to use, use it everywhere otherwise it something will slip trough and want work. Without SSL it appears to work easier in the setup from local iCal client to server. But SSL is of course more secure. I want talk about Kerberos because I'm not able to get that to work yet.
3) Make sure you set it up from an "Open directory", "Local directory" should/could work to but I haven't test that yet and I seriously doubt it would work properly.
That being said I now can share my setup with you (switch your firewall of during setup it's easier to troubleshoot, switch it on again if everything works. If it stops working after the firewall is on again, well you know where to look for the problem :-)):
1) After setting up the Open Directory Master I switched on SSL and created a own certificate for my server. I didn't protected the certificate with a password as it gives a lot of extra problems with setting things it up. You can than select the certificate under Server Admin/Open Directory click on setting and click the tab LDAP. There you can select it.
2) Make sure your webserver is running and you have a working website where you can go to. Under Server Admin make sure that under the selection Sites that your FQDN is filled out. Being something like www.example.com and not example.com. The second one could cause iCal web part to not work accordingly at least that is my experience. After that choose security and make sure SSL is on and your certificate is selected. The rest of the website settings is pretty basic I didn't changed to much. I do know that I switched on some extra modules. Being bonjour_module, authzsvnmodule, davsvnmodule. This prevented further in the installation the 210 error when I went to the Calendar under my webbrowser. I wouldn't know which of the 3 is doing the trick I only know that after this it worked for me.
3) Pffffff OK go to the iCal Server settings under the Server Admin. The settings are straight forward but again make sure SSL is on and your certificate is selected. And look at your host name which should be someting like server.example.com. If you are not able to get DNS setup properly you could try your machines example.local name. But that again could give troubles when you want to use local iCal client outside the door on a laptop for example.
These where all the server admin setting. Now go to the Workgroup Manager and selected the group/groups you want to have Calendaring switched on and choose the way people are able to logon. This you can do by going to the group select the default website and services you want to give. Then select under Allow the way people can logon to this website or iCal services.
When that's done you should have everything up and running on the server site. So now go to a local iCal client and go to preferences/accounts/server setting. Click the + on the left bottom site and fill out a name and password leave the server option for now to auto. This way and when everything is setup properly you should get something like https://server.example.com:8443/principals/_uids_/14A0DD22-86CA-4F55-96D9-9CB461640D52/. The end number should refer to your name and password account so the number want be the same as in this example. Well if it works you are one of the lucky people and you are able to setup a shared Calendar from there. It would help a lot if you have more than one machine to test. Because it didn't worked on my MacBook Pro getting a famous error "iCal unexpected secure name resolution" But it did worked on my wifes iMac. So the server settings are OK. Now the good part when it's not working is that you can go to your webbrowser and type or copy the following: https://www.example.com:8443/principals/users/shortname (naturally use your own server name and user name). There you can see details of the principals settings. Including youre uids number. This number is unique for your name and password. Copy this number. Then go back to iCal switch of the auto find in iCal client under preferences/accounts/server settings. The first part of the link is https://server.example.com:8443/principals/uids/(Now paste you number here). Hit enter and see what happens. It the name server is not working for you than use for example iso server the name mail if you have it setup in the DNS is should work. It did worked for me and it gave me a nice shared calendar which you can name for yourself. Every group member should be able to see this agenda once hooked up to it via iCal client and prefences/accounts/server settings.
If you go to your website or www.example.com/groups you should see youre shared group. Sorry I only tried it with one group sofar. If you make changes to the calendar from the webbrowser it will show up after a refresh in your iCal client and visa versa. The only thing I still have problems with is the events for more days. They show up on the web as events but when I click them they produce a unwanted error. But when it's based on a single day than it work perfectly.
Hopefully you have a working iCal server to now. If you find something interesting or you think I left some important things out. Please reply and fill out the blanks.
I just hope that it will save some time for the new once setting this up.

First a little background. We are a small management company. We have individual clients that we manage. We need to have access to their calendars to schedule events, etc. The thing is that we would be the only ones looking at everyone else's calendars at once so that we can coordinate our own schedules so that we can be where it is most important but still not lose track of other activities.
1. What kind of machine are you running the iCal Server on? Xserve? MacPro?
2. Is it possible to view multiple users' calendars within a single calendar view?
3. Does setting up this kind of calendar server sound like the setup for our situation where only we, the management, will be able to view all calendars?
4. How difficult will this set up be on our clients and their machines since we have little control over their personal machines? (The majority of our clients are all Mac users. There may be one PC user.)

WRT54G Router Setup Help!!!

Hey guys. I have a WRT54G router. I have AT&T yahoo DSL and a modem that came with it. Whats going on is that I bought a new Dell inspiron laptop computer with a 802.11g wireless card. I bought the router so I can create a wireless network.
When I connect the ethernet cable from the MODEM to my LAPTOP i can access the internet just fine when I click on internet explorer.
When I connect the router to the ethernet cable and try to setup the wireless network nothing happens and it won't finish the install from the LinkSYS CD I installed. I even tried to make it into a wired network.
(MODEM ----CABLE --ROUTER--CABLE---LAPTOP) but I couldn't setup up the internet at all either.
I click on the network connections(on my VISTAPC) and I can see the greens bars lit up on the LYNKSYS network and can't seem to connect to it.
when I take the cable from the router and put it straight into my laptop without my router the internet works just fine. Help! Thanks

hi... if you are aware of modem settings...logon to modem's setup page and select "ethernet bridged" and save the settings...connect modem >> router >> pc and logon to router's and select PPPoE under "automatic configuration DHCP" put the username and password and save the settings...click on status tab and try connecting to the PPPoE server...however if you are not aware of the modem settings...well in that case you need to get in touch with your ISP and convert the modem into the bridge mode...let me know if you have any issues will get back to you...
