Equium P200-178 - Line in port usage with record deck

Can anyone tell me if I could plug a record deck into the mic socket on the front to rip vinyl to CD?
Cant find a line in socket!
Thanks Roy

Hi,
maybe you should try it, since no one maybe did it before (or maybe yes) :) and I dont think that you would damage something.
Would be then great if you can share your experience with us regarding mic-in and the deck :)

  • Equium P200-178: 17" lcd screen has gone funny colours

My 17" screen on my equium p200-178 has gone funny colours as if when looking at any pictures there is far to much saturation on the screen.
I have plugged in an external monitor and that screen works fine.
So i am going th have to change the screen.
I need to know is do any of the other 17" laptops or notebooks use the same 17.1" WXGA lcd glossy screen that is ccfl with one back light, if so which models? and does any one know what the part number(s) are...
    Thanks

Thank you very much PauPau for your brilliant reply. I have a very good friend who is more than competant to perform the work it was just a case of the fact that after an extensive trawl of the net i have found the 17.1 " screens for most of the other models in the 17" of satalite range and even the 17.3" for the satalite L550 at one stockist at sensible prices but they just dont list them for the Equium P200, where as most other stockists had listings for all the ranges of what seemed to be the same screens. Cheers very much.

  • Re: Equium P200-178 - What CPU for an upgrade?

    Hi
I have Equium P200-178 Part Number PSPB2E-001002AV at the moment with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2080 1.73 GHz 533 MHz, Id like to upgrade it but which one I can safely go with?
I believe im after the same socket as this one is Socket M but what speed can I go with i dont want to overheat it cause ill be using the same cooling system.

    Hey,
It has nothing to do with warranty Even if your notebook is out of warranty Toshiba doesnt support such an upgrade. You can upgrade the CPU of course but *everything happens on your own risk*!!!
Equium P200-178 belongs to PSPB2E series and according the specifications of other PSPB2E models they were delivered with the Intel Pentium T2080 CPU only so I doubt another CPU would work
Anyway, maybe you can find another P200 owner here that has already upgraded the CPU ;)

I have an Equium P200-178 and for some reason my d drive has suddenly disappeared, I've tried downloading/updating the drivers only to be told that the driver I have is the most up to date version.
This is becoming very frustrating as it means I cant play cd's or dvd's on my laptop.
Anyone out there that can give me any advice?

Is drive disappeared in Windows Explorer?
What is the status in device manager?

  • Equium P200-178 - backlight on the display has failed

A friend of mine has an Equium P200-178 and the backlight on the display has failed.
Unfortunately, the machine is three weeks out of its warranty and we are very, very far from a Service Depot.
Googling the problem indicates that the inverter may have failed but how do you get to it?
I have removed every screw that I can see on the case but it still won't come apart. I don't want to risk breaking it.
    Any help very gratefully received!
    Cheers.

    Hi
The FL inverter is a small part which controls the screens backlighting and its placed near the TFT screen.
Usually its not advisable to disassemble such hi-tech notebooks because such procedure is tricky and you could damage other parts.
However, it seems you are already on the task and the notebooks covers are already removed.
Well, I googled a little bit and found this page:
[Taking apart Toshiba Satellite P205 display panel and removing LCD screen and inverter.|http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-p205/take-apart-display-panel-1.htm]
Its about P205 but its very similar to the P200 notebook model.
But note; everything what you do is your own risk!!!!

  • Two issues with Equium P200-178

    Hi All,
I have owned my faithful *P200-178* (PSPB2E-001002AV) for a few years now without any issues until recently. It has windows vista home premium installed.
Firstly the built in wireless (PA3613U-1MPC) has stopped working after a "friend" dropped it! The switch does operate ok but the light no longer works. I have reinstalled the driver and it has not made a difference. When installing the software a message was displayed saying that the wireless adaptor was not installed. I have even tried a wireless adaptor from the same model and this also doesn't work. What is strange is when you use config free it knows that the switch is either on or off but can't find the adaptor. The device manager also can't find it.
Secondly after my Kids downloaded an image for their school homework the laptop had a nervous breakdown! I have all the latest antivirus software and check the system on a regular basis. The image has been printed off and has now been deleted. I used to turn the laptop on and off with the power switch and not via the windows shut down facility. This doesn't work any more. After lifting the lid, pressing the power button nothing happens. However by pressing the "music icon in a box with 6 sparks coming from it" (sorry for the pathetic description) the laptop switches on. Windows Vitsa is displayed and all initially appears to be ok. During boot up a message saying:
    Checking file system on \\?volume {ef*****-long serial number not shown in case its unique-806*********}
The type of file system is NTFS.
    volume label is winRE.
One of the disks needs to be checked for consistency. You
may cancel the disk check, but it is strongly recommended
    that you continue
Windows will now check the disk.
    CHKDSK is verifying files (etc,etc,etc)
File segment 24,25,26 and 27 are unreadable, are repaired (I think as the info is too quick to read) and eventually boots up. The laptop also restarts itself now.
WHAT CAN I DO IF ANYTHING TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS / ISSUES?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello
In my opinion in first case there must be some physical damage and I don't believe there is something you can do to fix it. I presume notebook must be disassembled and WLAN port/switch must be checked by technicians.
About second issue I cannot say much but in my opinion you should backup all your important data and install OS again using delivered recovery media. With Clean preinstalled OS you can test WLAN functionality again and also power button functionality.
I know it is most radical method but doing this you will be able to test notebook functionality with factory state and without some strange files or entries in preinstalled OS.
What do you think about all this?

  • Does HDD Recovery format all the HDD on Equium P200-178

    Hi,
i need to reinstall Vista on my laptop.
The question is: Does the partition recovery option wipes all the data partitions?
Both with os and the other one with data?
Ive been trying to find it out on forum.
Some says that the cd recovery cleans all of the partitions but HDD recovery has the option to format only C partition

    Hi
Well, as far as I know the HDD recovery procedure is the same procedure like the usage of the Recovery DVD.
In both cases the notebook will be set to the factory settings which means that you will get the same data on the HDD like at the first day of purchase
So it should format the HDD and should restore is again using the Toshiba image.
But if you want to know if the second partition will be erased and then created again then store a small file on the second partition and then perform the HDD recovery procedure.
After the OS installation has finished go to the second partition and check if the same file still persist on the second partition.

  • Equium P200-1ED - can't find Video Controller VGA Compatible

    Hello
I cant find Video Controller VGA Compatible
In the main support centre i couldnt find this driver.
Can some1 send me link or something.
    Thank you
    Equium P200-1ED

I have the same problem with my Lap Top, which is an Equium M40X-189. I have also been unable to find the driver, even using your helpful comments and link. The website is denying knowledge of any appropriate drivers for 'display' 'screen' 'graphic' 'video'. I'm also slightly struggling because my PC model also doesn't appear on the drop down list (presumably because it's too old).
Any other thoughts or suggestions on how to find the appropriate driver? Many thanks

  • Line-in port not working with powered microphone

I'm not sure if this is an issue of me not understanding how line-in ports work or if there is actually something wrong with the line-in port/jack. So, I have a Sony microphone that is powered by one AA battery. The microphone has no problems because I can plug it in to my voice recorder and it works fine. However, when I plug it in to the line-in port of my PB, the PB does not pick up any sound. And yes, I have made sure that in the Sound preferences, I selected input source as "Line-in."
So, does this mean there is something wrong with the port, or does it mean I need to plug my powered microphone into an amplifier which plugs into the PB or....?
    Thanks!
    Conal

    Hi Conal
There's probably nothing wrong with your line-in port - it's just that you've discovered the difference between "line level" signals and "mic level" signals! To put it simply, the output from a microphone (whether it operates on battery power or not) is far too low for a line level input to recognise - hence the reason you are not picking up sound on the PB. (Your voice recorder will be picking up sound because it's operating at mic-level).
The only way around this is to plug your mic into some form of pre-amp and then plug the line level output of the pre-amp into your PB. Personally I use a Tascam US-122 audio/midi interface and run the signals into the PB on USB. Works extremely well but I'm sure you'll be able to find a cheaper alteranative with a little bit of searching.
    Hope this helps.

  • Sound problems with back line out port

Hey everyone, I just sent an email to MSI Tech Support, but figure I would post a message here as well.  I just put together a new system, but I'm having a problem with the back line out port.
My problem: When I plug in the front panel audio connectors (Left Audio Out, Left Audio Return, Right Audio Out, Right Audio Return) in the motherboard on pins 5-6 and 9-10 of JAUD1, the back line out does not work properly.  I get sound on only the right speaker of the headphones.
    More info:
    - Audio Driver: 5.10.0.5620 (from MSI CD)
    - If I instead plug the headphones on the front audio line out, then sound is fine
    - Here's the strange part, if I unplug the front audio connectors from the motherboard (and short pins 5-6, 9-10 with the jumpers, obviously), then the sound on the back line out works properly!
    - My Windows sound settings are fine
Has anyone heard of this problem?  Any ideas/suggestions of what I could try?
Could this be a defective board?  Could it be bad wires on the case?  Seems unlikely since both back line out and front line out work depending on what I have setup.
    Help! :-)
    Thanks,
    icab

    Steve,
I appreciate the reply, but I believe you are wrong.  Yes, I have searched the forum and did find that thread.  Yes, I have read the manual.  The only thing that it says is: "If you don't want to connect to the front audio header, pins 5 & 6, 9 & 10 have to be jumpered in order to have signal output directed to the rear audio ports. Otherwise, The Line-out connector on the back panel will not function."  That's not my case since I want both ports to work (not outputting the signal both at the same time, obviously).
This can't be ByDesign.  Either my board is defective or MSI is not following the Intel Front Panel I/O Connectivity Guide correctly.  The whole point of having 4 wires for the front panel audio ports, 2 of the wires being Aud_Ret_R and Aud_Ret_L, is so that the audio signal is sent to the front line out and _returned_ to the back line out if nothing is plugged in the front line out.
I have an IBM machine with an intel mobo at work and it works as mentioned in the design guide.
Any other ideas, anyone? I can still RMA my motherboard, but it's a design issue, i guess I'm stuck. I never got an automated reply from MSI Tech Support, so I guess my email never went through.  I'll send another email and let the forum know of the results.
    Thanks,
    Igor

  • Equium P200: sometimes looses WLan connection

    Hi there
Looking for help, my Equium P200 sometimes looses connection to the net. My partners do not!
Also when in other peoples it losses signal so I know its the laptop, its very intermittent , it can go for months and nothing then it can do it twice in one night!
When it does happen I run the off line help it says that there is nothing wrong with the pc! It says there is no networks to connect to despite i know there is any ideas
I think its a Atheros or something similar. Sorry so vauge

    Hi
You could try to update the WLan driver in most cases this helps
The BIOS update would be also advisable if a newer BIOS version is available on the Toshiba European driver page.
Sometimes something like that happens to me if it happens I click right on the WLan icon in the taskbar and choose repair.
Mostly this helps to get the WLan back

  • Equium P200-1IR - Wireless is connected but cannot access the internet

    Hi ya,
    Need a little help!!
I have just bought an Equium P200-1IR.
I have turned the wi fi on.
I can see my router which is Talk Talk.
I can get the laptop to connect to the router and it says that I am connected,
however I cannot access the internet.
I tried the same process by inserting a wi fi dongle into the USB port
on the laptop and exactly the same happens.
We have other computers in the house that connect to the router and internet
    ok using the wireless dongle.
I have plugged a hard wire connection from the laptop to the router and I can
access the internet immediately with no problems, however would love
    to use the wireless feature.
    Any help really appreciated....Thanks
    Waynec

Do you use the right channel and right encryption settings?
    This should be checked!
It should be able to change the WLan channels in device manager -> WLan card -> Properties -> Advanced tab
But I would also recommend disabling the encryption and password in router settings and to connect to Open Wlan of course this should be done only for testing purposes if the notebook would be able to connect to the open router, then this would mean that you used a wrong password.
How about WLan driver update? Did you update the WLan driver? If not do that!

  • Line in port not working?

I've bought a usb web cam and, with the help of "ichatusbcam", can now see a video picture in iChatAv. The web cam also has a in built microphone with a jack plug that goes into the line-in port in my MDD. However when I select the line in port in sound prefs I can't seem to get any sound. There is no flicker of movement that shows that sound is being received. If I plug in my usb microphone and select that then no problem - I can see the prefs pane showing sound input.
Any ideas or does it suggest that the in-built mic isn't working?
    Dave

It "sounds" like you might need a preamp for the mic to bring up the input levels to line-in requirements.

  • Line In Port

I'm having trouble connecting a Logitech Internet Chat headset to the Line In port on my Mac Mini. Plugging in the wire for the headphone parts works fine, but when I plug in the wire fo the microphone, I cannot get it to work, and record sound in Skype or Garage Band. Do I need a new headset/microphone combo? If I plug the headset in to a Windows XP machine and a Mac Mini that has a Sound Blaster MP3+ external sound connected the headset works fine.
