Er_archive with 2GB of shared object library

I am using SS12U1 on SuSe10 linux and have run into problem of er_archive running out of memory.
er_archive: Error: Memory capacity exceeded.
Requested 20971520 bytes.
One of the shared object linked at run time is 2.7G in size and er_archive runs out of memory when archiving this shared object. There is plenty of memory available in the system. Using top, I observed that er_archive was at about 4G of memory usage when it stopped due to this error.
% file /SUNWspro-SS12U1/sunstudio12.1/prod/bin/er_archive
/SUNWspro-SS12U1/sunstudio12.1/prod/bin/er_archive: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped
Is there a 64-bit version of er_archive available to overcome memory limitation?
-- Saurin

The whole suite needs a 64 bit version. I stopped using -g and optimizations higher than -xO2, not just because they introduced extra bugs, but also because they caused the compiler to run out of memory. Good luck with your huge library.

  • JNI accessing shared object library (3GPP AMR codec) in linux

    Hi,
    We built a shared object (.so) library including the 3GPP AMR codec implementation. (NB: AMR codec is a speech encoder/decoder).
    When trying to access this library from a JNI app this gives incorrect results but when trying to use the same library with a simple C program it gives the expected results !
    We believe that the JNI environment makes some unexplained modification to the runtime environment that makes this library to not work correctly. Do you know what could explain this strange behaviour ?
    Used JSDK: 1.4.2_10
    platform: Fedora Core 4 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
    Regards,
    Pascal

    Hi,
    Thank your for your answer!
    Well I don't know if I can enter in details here but here is what's happening:
    0) we built a shared object library (.so) including the 3GPP AMR codec and some functions calling the codec operations (decode, encode, etc.)
    1) in the C++ JNI wrapper we call the function Speech_Decode_Frame() of the 3GPP AMR codec with in input an array of Word16 (= type "short"),
    2) when we link the library created in 0) with a small .cpp program, the function Speech_Decode_Frame() returns the speech decoded correctly in a an array of Word16 as well,
    3) when we used the same library with a JNI application, the call to Speech_Decode_Frame() returns only a table of zeros --> incorrect result
    We're currently tracking down in the source code of the 3GPP AMR where the result array gets these 0.
    We'd like to understand what in the JNI runtime environment could make the library to behave differently.

  • Using Shared Object Libraries

    How (or what) do we set when using shared object libraries?
    We have Java Native Methods which are implemented using C++ and stored in shared object libraries. We can build our project, but when trying to execute the project, the shared object libraries are not found. We had tried to set the external execution settings to include the library paths, but nothing seems to take affect.
    What do we need to set to run with the shared object libraries?

    RK,
    I appreciate your responce, hopefully we'll get this worked out. I will try to give you as much information as I can so you will hopefully understand the problem.
    We have added a Library Reference to our project - which is a jar file - this jar file contains our Business Objects which are implemented in Java. Within this Library Reference, there is a Java class which has a Native method. The method is implemented in C++ The C++ implementation of this method is within a C++ shared object library (libname.so).
    How do we let Creator know that we need to link in this C++ Shared Object Library at run time?
    The Modifers Properties for the method in the library reference are correctly set - that is they are set to Native. For a method within a java element, selecting or un-selecting this modifier simply changes the method declaration. It does not tell Creator where the actual implementation is (shared object library in this case).
    As originally stated, we tried to include our shared object library in the Execution Property of the properties window for the Java Element. Here is what we have done so far - all unsuccessful....
    Under the External Execution Property - we added the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to our shared object library path. We also selected the Append Environment Variable (set to true). We are not able to modify the Library Path of the External Execution Property - it will not allow changes - all buttons are disabled in the pop up window.
    There are no properties for the Internal Execution within the Executor Properties, so there is nothing we can set there.
    We have tried to set the Debugger Execution properties in the same manner as the External Execution properties to run the project in Debug mode - and have the same problem - while executing the project, we get the error message which indicates that our shared object library can not be found.
    There are no property settings available on the J2EE Server Execution Properties to set.
    What do we need to set so that this Shared Object Library will be located during execution of our project under SJSC?
    Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

  • GC affects Proxied Shared Object?

    Hi, all
    I found sth strange with the Proxied Shared Object when Garbage Collection in FMS 4.0. I have a FMS application 'ProxiedSOApp', in the Application start, it tries to get proxied SO from another FMS application 'MasterSOApp' every 5 seconds, and GC runs every 20 seconds.

    Although the proxied SO is updated during the 1st get, when GC works, the proxied SO is cleared.(the Master SO is unchanged)
    So I want to know, when GC, is there sth happened with the unreachable proxied SO reference which will clear the SO?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!
    For the test, I can make sure that, there is no other code to set or clear the MasterSO. Also, before and after the 'clear' event is received in the ProxiedSO, the MasterSO is not changed and the properties are still existing. I've also add another client to monitor the MasterSO status change, and when the proxyiedSOApp get the clear event during GC, no event is received in the added client.
    I can see from the FMS console, every time Sharedobject.Get in ProxiedSOApp, the 'Connections' for ProxiedSO will increase by 1, and when GC, the  'Connections' decreases to 1, and from the log, a clear event is thrown.
    So I'm still suspect that GCing the unreachable proxied SO reference causes the clear event.
    any ideas?

  • RTMPS remote shared object response failure

    Hi i have a chat application written in Flex/Flash (AS3) with a PHP/mysql backend and i am using Adobe® Flash® Media Server 4.5.2
    The application is working OK in the night with under 200 rtmps connections but during the day with max 400 rtmps connections i get a strange error
    when i am trying to connect to the remote shared object.
    For example i have this portion of code:
    test_so is my shared object
    conn is my connection with the fms server
    test_so = SharedObject.getRemote("test_so","rtmps://uri to my application instance",false);
    test_so.addEventListener(SyncEvent.SYNC,mySyncFunction);
    test_so.connect(conn);
    The shared object synchronization is starting, when i receive the first data with the test_so shared object i get a failure that does not raise any event on the flash part.
    For example if my received data content length is 40Kb long i receive only 28Kb and the transfer is aborted but the rtmps connection is not closed.
    Using some web debugging software (charles and fiddler) i can see when the error appear:
    [https://application instance uri] (content-type: application/x-fcs)
    /open
    - 1
    /idle
    - ID
       - 0 (1 B)
       - 3 (9.95 KB)
       - 6 (28KB) <-- Failure SSL peer shut down incorrectly (Response code 200) (content length is almost 40KB but i only get 28KB then transfer is ended) (NetStatusEvent does not fire any error in flash)
       - 7 (1 B)
       - ... the rtmps connection continue but the flash will never receive any SyncEvent.SYNC because of the error on chunk 6
    /send
    - ID
       - 1
       - 2
       - 4
       - 5
    Here is a screeshot from charles during debug:
    This error appear random but for a lot of clients.
    In the FMS logs i do not see any errors.
    The server is a XEN VPS with 4 cores and 8GB of ram.
    The CPU and ram usage is constant, there are no spikes when the error appear.
    The bandwidth usage is more then double when the error appear.
    The remote shared object is a little big (over 40K) and maybe combined with the bandwidth problems can raise this error.
    I can also reproduce this error when there is little traffic on the server using a bandwidth limiter on client side and setting the limit at 64kb. (i need to put the limit at 128kb for the application to work and to not see that error)
    Maybe someone had the same problem.

However , this means we all receive each others imessages, unless we disable imessaging. Is there a way of sharing itunes library (ie.g with 4 separate ids) that avoids the sharing of imessages? .

    Thanks, Terence, but if she was inclined to upload things, I wouldn't need access!
    Here is an example: we go on vacation, she takes 250 photos, edits twenty of the best shots, and uploads three to facebook.  I want to make an album including some of the edited shots and some of the less perfect but still fun shots - so I need all 250 photos - uploading that many photos to a photosharing site takes forever even if she did it - but she won't.  I used to just hijack her computer for a day, but I'd like to be able to hijack her iphoto library without stealing her computer...if possible!
    Thanks for any help you can offer!

  • Sharing Aperture library with another user on the same mac

    Hi
    I just upgraded to Aperture 3.3, on a MBP running Lion (10.7.4) - I am trying to share the library with my wife so that each of us can retain our separate accounts and preferences and be able to edit/print/add pictures to the library
    I've seen some other posts, suggesting creating a separate directory outside of /Users which I've done: I've created /ApertureLib and moved the library there. I made sure I set permissions for owner, group and others to read/write/execute
    When i try opening the library through my wife's account it tells me that "the library is being used by (null), you must first quit (null) to use this library"
    I added sticky bits, tried to set ACLs, no dice...
    any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    PS: all of the image files are actually stored on a NAS box and mounted via AFP. I tried moving the Aperture library to the NAS box but the performance was atrocious. so I kept the library on Macintosh HD and just reference the picture files from the NAS share.

    That is the safest solution. The Aperture library should reside on a local volume, MacOS X extended formatted. Your NAS probably is neither local nor formatted MacOS X extended, see
    Aperture: Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library
    I am trying to share the library with my wife so that each of us can retain our separate accounts and preferences and be able to edit/print/add pictures to the library
    Aperture is a single User program. Only one of you can use Aperture at a time. So you hvae to quit Aperture in your account, before your wife can launch it from her account. Also make sure that iPhoto is not using the library.
    One big problem with sharing a Library are permissions and ownerships. When you make changes to an Aperture Library and add images, you are the owner of the added images. The safest way to share a library therefore would be to put it on an external volume or onto a separate partition of your hard drive. Then you can set the "Ignore ownership on this volume" flag and share the data with out permission problems. To set this flag on a volume, select it in the Finder and use "File > Get info" from the Finder's main menu bar (or press cmd-I).

  • Iphone and ipod losing sync with shared itunes library - home sharing not working

    I hope this can help some people who have had problems with syncing their IOS devices to their shared itunes library.
    Having had a lot of trouble with syncing and sharing my itunes libraries from two PC's to an iphone 4 and 4S via "itunes home sharing", I decided to try and find a solution using typical search engine search phrases. I found a number of issues similar to mine that pointed toward local network protocols such as media serving, and the ability or lack of ability to use these protocols by DSL routers.
    My solution was simple, change the DSL router. My ISP supplied DSL router was the problem, not being able to identify that the PC's hosting my itunes libraries become media servers when itunes home sharing is switched on. My DSL box is a Tesco Broadband branded/firmware Thomson TG580. As a test I tried out a box from my previous supplier, an O2 branded/firmware Thomson/Technicolor TG582n. Although this wont work with my ISP connection, it will work as a wirless/wired router. As soon as I connected this all together, it worked first time without any hassle. I was mirroring my shared HD videos via the itunes home shared library to my 4S perfectly.
    I know this may not help most people, but if you have the chance to test another wireless router, give it a go. Having had a good look, I can't find an Apple compatibility list. Maybe this is something they could do, or maybe someone can point out a site that may have this info?
    I am by no means an Apple Fanboy, but I have to say that a lot of the complaints about the home sharing between itunes, ipods, iphones, Apple TV etc. may simply be the router and not itunes or the IOS devices.
    My setup is PC's running the latest itunes with Win 7 32 & 64 bit and my IOS devices on 6, I also tested an iphone 4 on IOS 5 that worked perfectly. My 4S is now a perfect HDMI media player/streamer for my itunes music and videos encoded to H.264 using Handbrake.

    Assuimg you have the latest ATV firmware, at the bottom of the general settings menu on your apple TV there is an option to reset your apple TV. Try that and then reset it up back on your network.
    Before testing ensure the correct time/date/nearest City is setup in the ATV settings and re-enter your apple ID/password and turn on home sharing. You can connect to your network either via wifi or cable and see if it then works.
    Resetting the ATV and then checking and re-entering all my settings worked for me.
    I guess if not, then the next step is to disable any firewall on your PC and see if that works after the PC is rebooted.
    Hope this helps.

  • A query with respect to creation of the  shared Objects.

    Hi ,
    I am having a query with respect to creation of the  shared Objects.
    I have seen a example where the Author is creatining Shared Object as shown
    below :
    SharedObj = null;
    sharedObj = SharedObject.getLocal("myTasks");
    and there is nothing related to the word "myTasks" anywhere in the Application .
    Can anybody please let me know what is this word "myTasks" mean here ??
    Thanks in advance .

    hi,
    With a shared object it will create one if it doesn't exist, so "myTasks" will become the shared object name or if it exists it will load any objects that are within that shared object.
    Below is a simple example that uses sharedobjects to store login details.

  • [SOLVED] "cannot open shared object file" but library is installed

    I'm trying to run a digital logic simulation tool called "atanua" but I'm getting a missing library error:
    $ atanua
    /opt/atanua101120/atanua: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL_image-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    I tried re-installing both atanua (from AUR) and sdl_image (from repos) but the error remains.
    $ ldd /opt/atanua101120/atanua | grep sdl_image
    libSDL_image-1.2.so.0 => not found
    I can find the "missing" library though:
    $ locate libsdl_image
    /usr/lib/libSDL_image-1.2.so.0
    /usr/lib/libSDL_image-1.2.so.0.8.2
    /usr/lib/libSDL_image.a
    /usr/lib/libSDL_image.so
    And so can the loader:
    $ ldconfig -v | grep sdl_image
    libSDL_image-1.2.so.0 -> libSDL_image.so
    My initial thought is that the problem is a name mismatch between the program and the system, but I don't know the proper way to fix this.  Does anyone know what I should try next?
    Here's my system specs:
    $ uname -a
    Linux 3.0-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 19 10:27:51 CEST 2011 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux
    Thanks for your help.

    You're right. Some how [multilib] got disabled in my pacman.conf so I didn't spot a 32-bit version of the library.  I uncommented the [multilib] lines, searched again, and found it.  Problem solved.  Thank you.

    Okay, I've been looking at a really good tutorial for shared objects in AS2, and I think I've gotten the basic concept down of how they work... now the problem lies in just integrating it into what I already have, which is making my brain hurt.  Basically its for a quiz game, which will have a dynamic scoreboard.  I want the scores in the shared object to update when the submit button is pressed, and then have the new values loaded into text boxes.  Displaying the values is going to be the easy part, its just updating them is what my brain doesnt want to wrap itself around.  Here is the array I have at the moment (yes, horribly inefficient, but the last time I actually did any coding before this was over 2 years ago when I was still a computer science major... with all of 4 actual Comp Sci courses under my belt -_-)
    scores= new Array();
    names= new Array();
    insert=function() {
         var newscore;
         var newname;
         newscore=0
         newscore=_global.correct;
         if (newscore > scores[0]) {
             scores[14]=scores[13];
             scores[13]=scores[12];
             scores[12]=scores[11];
             scores[11]=scores[10];
             scores[10]=scores[9];
             scores[9]=scores[8];
             scores[8]=scores[7];
             scores[7]=scores[6];
             scores[6]=scores[5];
             scores[5]=scores[4];
             scores[4]=scores[3];
             scores[3]=scores[2];
             scores[2]=scores[1];
             scores[1]=scores[0];
             scores[0]=newscore;
             names[14]=names[13];
             names[13]=names[12];
             names[12]=names[11];
             names[11]=names[10];
             names[10]=names[9];
             names[9]=names[8];
             names[8]=names[7];
             names[7]=names[6];
             names[6]=names[5];
             names[5]=names[4];
             names[4]=names[3];
             names[3]=names[2];
             names[2]=names[1];
             names[1]=names[0];
             names[0]=newname;
             else if (newscore > scores[1]) {
             scores[14]=scores[13];
             scores[13]=scores[12];
             scores[12]=scores[11];
             scores[11]=scores[10];
             scores[10]=scores[9];
             scores[9]=scores[8];
             scores[8]=scores[7];
             scores[7]=scores[6];
             scores[6]=scores[5];
             scores[5]=scores[4];
             scores[4]=scores[3];
             scores[3]=scores[2];
             scores[2]=scores[1];
             scores[1]=newscore
             names[14]=names[13];
             names[13]=names[12];
             names[12]=names[11];
             names[11]=names[10];
             names[10]=names[9];
             names[9]=names[8];
             names[8]=names[7];
             names[7]=names[6];
             names[6]=names[5];
             names[5]=names[4];
             names[4]=names[3];
             names[3]=names[2];
             names[2]=names[1];
             names[1]=newname;
    Continues all the way down to scores[14]
    Now, if I wanted this to pull data from the shared object, would I just put user_so.score[3]=user_so.score[2] for instance?  Or would I run the array and just update the new valued individually once the array insertion function completes?  THe problem with the latter is that it's not directly accessing the shared object so I'd need to find a way to pull them out into other variables first, and this is about the point where my brain just decides to short out on me and stop working alltogether...yay...
    So yea, any help on this would be much appreciated.
    also, would the array have to be declared within the shared object as well?  If so, how would I do that exactly?  Probably something so simple but the fact that it's shared objects is throwing me off...

    Ok, the shared object WAS working just fine until I had the banner start referencing it.  Then the quiz began giving me syntax errors like crazy, and even when the banner isnt runnit it gives me issues.
    user_so.data.soArray[0]=scores[0];
    user_so.data.soArray[1]=scores[1];

    gotoAndStop (1);
    these are the lines it's telling me I need an on handler for, which I do have, at the very start of the entire code.
    Ive counted the brackets and those seem to line up, but I'll double check again.  The code is on the submit button itself (yes I know it's poor coding form, but this is how I learned it and what I'm used to, and since I'm on a bit of a time schedule now isn't the time to completely re-learn the proper conventions and etiquite of coding in flash).

  • Problems with Shared Objects - WIERD (or i'm just plain o'l stupid)

    Using F8, AS2.0
    What I am trying to do is to store an array inside of a slot
    in a Local
    Shared Object.
    (snippet from function)
    // leaderboardShare is the Local Shared Object
    // the variable scores is passed through this function
    // if no array exists, create one
    if (this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId] == null) {
    trace("{SharedLearning.setLeaderboardScore} no score data
    for this user
    exists, creating scores array");
    // create a new array to hold scores for this userId
    var myScores = new Array();
    myScores.push(score);
    this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId] = myScores;
    // traces out the newly added score, (325)
    trace("{SharedLearning.setLeaderboardScore} scores in userId
    array: " +
    this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId]);
    } else {
    trace("{SharedLearning.setLeaderboardScore} score data
    exists, adding
    current score to array ");
    // traces out existing data in userId slot (325)
    trace("{SharedLearning.setLeaderboardScore} scores in userId
    array: " +
    this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId]);
    // traces out Number
    trace("score is type: " + typeof(score));
    // temp array to hold data from existing LSO scores
    var myScores:Array =
    this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId];
    // traces 325
    trace("myScores (before): " + myScores);
    // temp variable to hold latest score passed through (dont'
    really need
    this)
    var newScore:Number = score;
    // add latest score to current score array
    myScores.push(newScore);
    // TRACES 325, NaN
    trace("myScores (after): " + myScores);
    // overwrite existing scores array in LSO with new set of
    scores
    this.leaderboardShare.data[this.userId] = myScores;
    I know I can do this with any other object, what gives? why
    would the LSO
    even care what i'm passing to it. Who cares that it's not a
    number, the
    array doesn't care what you stick into it.
    I'm truly confused.
    Any help will help me drink less tonight after i'm finished

    Nevermind....
    I found a block of code above it that was making it crap out.

    this pagegroup is in English, and there's an available translation in French.
    - When i see my navPage being logged in French, the SmartLinks (Home, etc)
    always display in English while i expected them to by in French.
    - I don't have this problem in a "normal" pagegroup created in english and
    translated into French.
    regards
    A.

    I have a second problem with shared objects :
    So, i created that navpage and published it as a portlet to use it in pages but
    when it doesn't appear in the portlets lists. In what Submenu of the porlets
    navigator is it supposed to appear ? It is not in the "shared instances", and i
    can't see any other "shared" directory.

  • Problem with object Library

    Hi
    I created object library containing some Objects and property classes.While implementation of the objects(using smart class) and property class (using property palette) to canvas or LOV,some properties not appeared to be inherited after applying smart class or property class.
    These are specially BG color and FG color.But it is working fine with some object and not working with some others.
    Can any body help me in figure out the problem.
    I am using Form builder 10g.
    Thanks in advance
    Mandeep

    i did not mean the ruler and the grid.
    There is a "forms property" called Coordinate System.
    You find it under the physical node in the property palette of your form module.
    What is the Coordinate System and important, what is the Real unit?

  • Issue with Shared Objects

    Hi all,
    I've a problem with a program working on Shared Objects technology.
    We have a Job, scheduled in 18 parallelism, and each one writes into the SHM controlled by a SHMA Class.
    At jobs ending, a program reads content from the area and sends an automatic e-mail with the results.
    Everything works well if the writer program is executed on-line.
    Otherwise, in background, seems that nothing is stored in the SHM.
    Here's the code executed by the writer program:
    FORM shared_memory_access  TABLES  it_fehler STRUCTURE rpfausg.
      DATA: errors_reference TYPE REF TO data.
      DATA: lx_pterl00       TYPE REF TO zcx_pterl00_collector.
      TRY.
    * --> Get SHM Access
          CALL METHOD zcl_pterl00_collector_root=>build
            EXPORTING
              invocation_mode = cl_shm_area=>invocation_mode_explicit.
    * --> It's ok?
          IF zcl_pterl00_collector_root=>area_exists EQ 'X'.
    * --> Fill Data:
            GET REFERENCE OF it_fehler[] INTO errors_reference.
            CALL METHOD zcl_pterl00_collector_root=>fill_area_with_data
              EXPORTING
                error_messages_dref = errors_reference.
          ENDIF.
        CATCH zcx_pterl00_collector INTO lx_pterl00.
          MESSAGE lx_pterl00 TYPE 'S' DISPLAY LIKE 'E'. "Non-blocking -> JOBS
      ENDTRY.
    ENDFORM.                    " SHARED_MEMORY_ACCESS
    Here is the section from the class handling the attachment to the SHMA:
    METHOD if_shm_build_instance~build.
      DATA: lx_collector TYPE REF TO zcx_pterl00_collector.
    * --> Automatic building of instance:
      TRY.
          CALL METHOD get_handle_for_update( inst_name ).
        CATCH zcx_pterl00_collector INTO lx_collector.
          MESSAGE lx_collector TYPE 'X'.
        CATCH: cx_shm_no_active_version.
          TRY.
              CALL METHOD get_handle_for_write( inst_name ).
            CATCH zcx_pterl00_collector INTO lx_collector.
              MESSAGE lx_collector TYPE 'X'.
          ENDTRY.
        CATCH: cx_shm_inconsistent.
          zcl_pterl00_collector=>free_area( ).
          TRY.
              CALL METHOD get_handle_for_write( inst_name ).
            CATCH zcx_pterl00_collector INTO lx_collector.
              MESSAGE lx_collector TYPE 'X'.
          ENDTRY.
      ENDTRY.
    ENDMETHOD.
    I cannot explain why multiple jobs do not populate the area...

    Hi Rob,
    if your requirement is to have many (18) active processes all updating the shared object, and very few simply reading the shared object, then versioning is probably not what you require.
    Versioning allows readers to continue to attach and read the active shared object instance while the updater gets their own instance of the shared object. When the updater does a detach_commit the old instance becomes obsolete and all new requests to attach will be diected to the new instance. The old instance will be cleaned up by garbage collection once all of its readers have detached.
    If your programs primarily attach for update then you will decrease performance with versioning because a new instance needs to be created at every attach for update.
    Perhaps you should just retry the attach for update after a small period of time has passed?
    If, on the other hand, you do have lots of other readers of the shared object you may well still find that it is more efficient not to have versioning. I build a web shop catalogue using shared objects and found that versioning severly hampered performance. This was because, once the catalogue was initialised, updaters were pretty rare but readers were constant.
    BTW make sure you keep the locks on the object as short as possible. Do all your preparation work first, then attach for update, update, detach as quick as possible.
    Cheers
    Graham Robbo
