Error 1214 Virtual Machine resides on a LUN, which cannot be found
Hi. Having a weird issue with one particular VM.
2-node 2012 Hyper-V cluster managed by VMM 2012 SP1. The cluster is running several VMs, all are working fine. One VM has passthru disk attached (before you start bashing me, this is a disk for DPM, which is running on this VM).
The problem is that any VM refresh job from VMM fails with the error in the title. When I go to VM properties in VMM, it cannot see any disks (VM has two - one system VHDX and one passthru attached disk).
From failover cluster manager, I can see all disks fine, the VM itself is working fine, only VMM refuses to see the disks and perform any tasks on the VM. Curiously, the VM status is OK, there are no errors.
I've tried moving the VM to another node, restarting the node, moving the CSV ownership, removing the passthru disk from the VM and add it back (via FCM), nothing helped. Also restarted VMM service.
What's the problem?
Hi,
Had the same problem but was able to fix it myself by doing the below steps,
1. Remove the pass through disk if you already added to the VM.
2. Remove from Cluster.
3. Turn off the VM.
4. Add the storage back to the cluster.
5. Right click the storage that you want to map to the VM and select Assign to another node.
6. Select the node.
7. Add a SCSI Hard drive from the VM settings.
8. Select the option to use physical drive.
9. From the drop down select the storage that you want to map.
10. Turn on the VM.
This fixed the refresh error for me in VMM 2012 R2 for DPM VM.
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi,
i'm trying to migrate a vm from a Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V host to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V host with VMM 2012 R2 using SAN Transfer. We use a Fujitsu Eternus DX60 Storage Unit. The Fujitsu VDS HW Provider is installed on
the VM that hosts VMM 2012 R2 and is configured to connect to the storage.
The Migration wizard Shows the following info in the "Deployment and Transfer Explanation" and only allows LAN Transfer:
Virtual Machine XXX resides on a LUN, which is not visible to any of the storage providers.
I know that i have done this successfully before i upgraded to VMM2012 R2 using VMM2008R2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2.
I'm very thankful for any ideas on how to enable SAN Transfer.
Thanks in advance!
TimoSo, I fixed it - Kinda...
I had to remove the SMI-S provider to my SAN (Again). Ensure I put a valid and signed CA Cert for the SMI-S provider (5989 = SSL 5988 no_ssl) in a PEM format (Base 64).
I then added this to the storage providers section along with a storage classification.
Now, when I run the 'Store in Library' option again and now even though I get the same error - The next button isn't greyed out and the migration works!?!
Weird, yes, workable, yes.... -

Hi all,
I am running a fail over cluster of
Host:

VMM 2008 R2
Virtual Host:
1x windows 2003 64bit guest host/virtual machine
I have attempted a live migration through VMM 2008 R2 and im presented withe the following error:
Error (10698)
Virtual machine XXXXX could not be live migrated to virtual machine host xxx-Host01 using this cluster configuration.
(Unspecified error (0x80004005))
What i have found when running the cluster validation:
1 out of the 2 hosts have an error with RPC related to network configuration:
An error occurred while executing the test.
Failed to connect to the service manager on 'xxx-Host02'.
The RPC server is unavailable
However there are no errors or events on host02 that are showing any probelms at all.
In fact the validation report goes on to showing the rest of the configuration information of both cluster hosts as ok.

If it was an RPC connection issue, then i shouldnt be able to mstsc, explorer shares to host02. Well i can access them, which makes the report above is a bit misleading.
I have also checked the rpc service and it has started.
If there is anyone that can shed some light or advice me oany other option for trouble shooting this, that would be greatley appreciated.

Error creating virtual machine on ESX host
We are running SCVMM 2012 R2, ESX and vCenter 5.1. I have created a vmdk using VMWare's Virtual Disk utility.
I am attempting to create a VM from this blank vmdk and receive the following error:
Error (2947)
Virtual Machine Manager cannot complete the VirtualCenter action on the server <esx-hostname> because of the following error: Failed to open disk scsi0:0: Unsupported or invalid disk type 7. Ensure that the disk has been imported..
Unknown error (0x194)
Recommended Action
Resolve the issue and then try the operation again.
I do not understand the problem as the disk has been imported in SCVMM and created using VMware's own disk creation utility. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. It looks like your disk drive may have bad sectors on it, and when the dd copy reaches those bad sectors, it reports an error. Check /var/log/messages on the OVM server to see if it reports disk errors.

I am running Windows 7 and use Adobe AIR for Flixster. When I tried to open Flixster I recieved an error message saying i needed to install Adobe AIR. I looked and saw that according to control panel, Adobe AIR is installed. I attempted to uninstall but get this EXACT message:
"This application requires a version of Adobe AIR which cannot be found. Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www.adobe.com/go/getair, or contact the application author for an updated version."
I have tried going to the mentioned website but i get an error message saying installation failed and may need administrative privilages but I AM the administrator!
I then tried multiple solutions on the forums including the command prompt uninstall and still no luck. contacted customer support who told me i can only receive assistance through these forums.
Very frustrating. Please Help.I have the same issue with a customer of ours:
Try to uninstall AIR – same message. (When I reinstall, the install says it’s successful.) I try to run our app, same message. I downloaded another AIR app, same message – so it’s not our app it’s AIR. We logged in as Administrator, same message. It’s a Windows7 machine. I did a system restore to 2 days ago and started over and still the same issues. I tried running the Windows Fixit to uninstall https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/mats/program_install_and_uninstall – didn’t work. -
itunes wont inport anythig it show listings but comes up with error ocurred while converting (song title ) the required file cannot be found using windows 8
iTunes cannot convert protected WMA tracks. There may also be problems if it can't get full access permissions. What exactly are you trying to do when the error occurs?

Hi
We are using SSAS 2008 r2 and have a cube on our data warehouse, this has been running fine for quite a while now.
However it failed yesterday with the error message:
Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing: Table:
'Performance_Fact', Column: 'accountexternalId', Value: '9474'. The attribute is 'External Id'."
Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The process operation ended because the number of errors encountered during processing reached the defined limit of allowable errors for the operation."
An error occurred while processing the '2011' partition of the 'Fact' measure group for the 'DB' cube from the DB database.
Please can someone help me to resolve the error, I don't understand what it means.
ThanksHello,
The error means that you have a key in the fact data which don't exist in the related dimension. Ensure that the dimension is also processed so that it contains all used keys.

Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing
this is the absolute worst error message in all of computing. I despise it. Here is my situation.
SSAS 2008 R2.
I have one dimension. I have not even built my cube yet. only a dimension. I am trying to process it. I can process it when I only have a single attribute, they key. it is a composite key. When I add a new attribute (integer),
I get the error message. There are no null values. There are no blanks as its an integer.
The attribute key cannot be found where? I'm processing the dimension you idiot. there is not even a cube yet in order for any key to be found or not.Hi Baracus,
According to your description, you get the error "Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing" when processing your cube, right?
Generally, the detail error message should like
Table: 'dbo_FactSales', Column: 'ProductID', Value: '1111'. The attribute is 'Product ID'
The above error explains that the fact table named "FactSales" contains column ProductID with value "1111" but the same ProductID is not present in your dimension table. There is a primary key - foreign key relationship exist
between the ProductID column of dimension table and fact table named "FactSales" and cube is unable to find ProductID with value 1111 in the dimension table.
At this time, what we need to do is to check either your dimension and fact table contains the value mentioned in the error message ( Value: '1111' in the above example). Here are some links about troubleshoot this issue, please see:

I'm creating a virtual machine from the Oracle VM Template (OVM_OL5U6_X86_64_EBIZ12.1.3_APPS_VIS_PVM) I downloaded from eDelivery. I keep getting this error.

DaveIt looks like your disk drive may have bad sectors on it, and when the dd copy reaches those bad sectors, it reports an error. Check /var/log/messages on the OVM server to see if it reports disk errors.

[SOLVED] VMPlayer error: 'The virtual machine is busy'
Hello,
I encounter an error when I try to open my Windows XP virtual machine. VMPlayer say me that 'the virtual machine is busy', but there aren't others virtual machines that are already running.
I try to find a fix on google, but it seams that usually this bug is related on the file /etc/vmware/not_configured. This is not my case, because I haven't this file.
I'm running Arch 32-bit with the official Arch kernel 3.0. I already patched my VMPlayer with this solution that I've found on the wiki:
# sed 's/\x83\xe8\x03\x83\xf8\x01\x0f\x96\xc0/\x83\xe8\x02\x83\xf8\x01\x0f\x96\xc0/' -i /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libvmware-modconfig-console.so/libvmware-modconfig-console.so
# sed 's/\x83\xe8\x03\x83\xf8\x01\x0f\x96\xc0/\x83\xe8\x02\x83\xf8\x01\x0f\x96\xc0/' -i /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libvmware-modconfig.so/libvmware-modconfig.so

Try to reset vmware to default. remove the ~/.vmware directory. Are you sure vmware is correctly installed? Try to reboot to be sure that there is no weird daemons in the background. Can you run vmware at all (try to create a new virtual machine that you attach to a bootable CD image). As a last resort I would remove everything except the hard disk (the vmdk file(s)), recreate a virtual machine and reattach the hard disk.
I also rn vmware but I have installed the lts kernel. This is a 2.6.32 kernel and so there is no need to apply weird patches to vmware. But I cannot say it is related to that. -
Error - Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded
I have installed J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10 and have been trying to run Hp Openview Service Desk 4.5, when I try to run it's client application I get the error
"Unable to start the application -- the Java Virtual Machine cannot be loaded. Class no registered."
I've tried reinstalling both as well as rebooting after each installation to no avail.. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanksInstalling the Java Virtual Machine
The Java Virtual Machine is a program that is necessary for running Java programs such as PhotoSite AlbumBuilder. To install the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, download and run the appropriate installer below. After you install it, restart your computer.
Windows 98/NT/ME/XP/2000 (SP1/SP2) users:

Windows 2000 (SP3) users:

Windows 2000 users (Service Pack 4):
Microsoft provides no installer for Windows 2K + SP4. You must either revert to an earlier Service Pack or upgrade to Windows XP instead.
* NOTE: You must be logged into an "Administrator" account to install the Virtual Machine. -
Virtual Machine in Azure Unresponsive and also cannot RDP
I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter server that was working fine for over a month. Now suddenly I cannot RDP to it from external or even internally from another machine on same virtual network. I tried to access Services from the domain controller
and it gives me an RPC error. I have tried restarting it several times. Says it is running in the management portal.
Since I cannot ILO to the machine, what are my options?Hi,
Apologies for the inconvenience. A subset of customers using Azure Search, Websites, API Management, Virtual Machines and Azure Search in East US may encounter errors due to an on-going Storage issue. Our engineers have identified a potential root cause and
are examining options to mitigate the issue.
Please refer to http://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/status/#current to check on the status.
