Error 1392

could not set security file for file
'C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computer\itunes\SCinfo\'.Error1392
i can not gain permission to set this file off of read me only... tried SubinACL from microsoft as described here
The Windows Installer service, the engine behind all MSI installers, performs installations with the built-in operating system account SYSTEM on behalf of the user. So it is SYSTEM's permissions on files, folders, and registry keys that ultimately matter. SYSTEM is normally the most powerful account, but if we run our computers as an administrator, it is possible to inadvertently curb SYSTEM's power by altering permissions with a program or directly ourselves. The result is failures at random points throughout the Windows experience. Based on the screenshot you posted follow these steps to re-grant Windows the permissions it needs to complete the installation.
1. Download and install SubInACL from Microsoft.
2. Assuming you installed SubInACL to the default path "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\" then from Start Menu Run... execute:
"C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\subinacl.exe" /file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info" /grant=SYSTEM
3. Install iTunes 7
what do i do??

Hi,
Did you follow the article below:
Optional Configurations
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee758052%28v=exchg.140%29.aspx
After disable the Automatic Alert Resolution Feature in the Correlation Engine, have you restart the Microsoft Exchange Monitoring Correlation Engine service?
I assume you missed something when you edit the config file.
You may change it back and then check the result.

Yan Li

  • Error: 1392  When installing i-Tunes 7

    Help!
My son has just purchased an iPod. Went to install iTunes and when the installation was "creating folders" I received the following error message:
"Could not set file security for file 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SCInfo\'. Error:1392. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to modify the security permissions for this file."
I have no idea what this means and when I click "OK", it reverses what it has installed so far.
    What can I do?
      Windows XP

    Well, nevermind.
I restarted my PC for the 5th time and tried installing again. This time it worked. Go figure.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Getting error 1392 during install... as an admin?!

I'm trying to install the x64 iTunes in XP Pro x64. Everytime I try to install though, I'm getting error 1392:
"Could not set file security for C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info. Error 1392. Verify you have sufficient rights to modify security permissions for the file."
The thing is, I'm an administrator on the machine. I have access to everything's everything.
UPDATE: I just fixed it. I had to change the folder permissions to give full control of that folder to everyone.

This can occur when the file is in use or did not install properly for some reason.  In most instances, if the install completes, simply register the DLL manually.
       1. Click Start and then click Run.
       2. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK
    RegSvr32 filename
where filename is the name of the file specified in Error 1904.

  • Downloading: error 1392

    Hi there,
For some time now when I purchase music I get an error message when downloading "There was a problem downloading “Toot It and Boot It / Toot It and Boot It - Single / YG”. The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again." and under status it says stopped (err = -1392).
I have tried several things. Reinstalling itunes to the most current edition and running the connectivity diagnostics which said it was connecting to itunes just fine.
I have been talking to customer service and no one can help me figure this out. Can anyone out there help me please? I really miss downloading music...so very much.

  • Itunes 7.0 for windows will not install Error 1392

I get an error message when i try to update to 7.0 It says could not set security file for file 'C:\documents and settings\all users\application data/apple computer/itunes/SCinfo\'.Error1392

    Hopglock,
You have your permissions on that folder or another folder in the hierarchy set to read only permission or some other security lock down. You need to turn off read only or change security permission so that the iTunes installer can write to
    the
    C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple computer\itunes\SCinfo
    folder.

  • Error 1392 Please help me :(

When i try to install itunes 7.0 i get an error message reading: could not set security file for file 'C:\documents and settings\all users\application data/apple computer\itunes\SCinfo\'.Error1392 What should I do?

I too am having the same issue/problem. Unfortunately, my Shuffle 1gb was a christmas present last year, and no longer under warranty. Everything was fine until I upgraded to iTunes 7, then all **** broke lose. I use my iPod Shuffle every day, I've dedicated a substantial portion of my available storage to a seperate iTunes Library ( I have close to 50Gb of music, so maintaining a seperate iTunes Library costs me almost 100G of space). I just updated to 7.1 hoping that the problem may have been fixed, but I am still having the same problem. Replacing this iPod with another is not an option, but replacing it with another competing manufacture's unit that is compatible with my advanced Sound Card (yes, that manufacturer makes both) is a viable option, although not an affordable one. I asked for an Apple Product on reputation and recommendations of other people and online reviews. These problems I am experiencing and from this topic, others are experiencing, seem to me that APPLE IS PROGRAMMING THEIR UPDATES TO FORCE OUR OLDER UNITS INTO BEING OBSOLETE AND JUST WANT US TO BUY NEW ONES.
If these forums are moderated and/or monitored by Apple personnel, someone needs to respond OFFICIALLY to this thread to address these issues, and reassure us that a fix is in the works either to this software, or a firmware update for our iPods.

  • TS 140 Windows Server 2012 R2 install failure error 0x80070570

Recently bought 2 TS140 70A4001PUX servers with Xeon E3 1245 v3 attempting to install eval version of server 2012 R2 (latest on site April refresh) and keep getting the following error at around 62% in the getting files ready for installation:
Windows can not install required files.  The file may be corrupt or missing.  Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.  Error code: 0x80070570
I have seen web search results for various MS OSes that indicate this is due to bad memory, corrupt installation media or download, Nic cards, BIOS settings etc.
To rule out memory ran memtest for hours with no errors against the crucial 32GB mem 2 (CT2KIT102472BD160B) also tried installing against the 4GB mem that came with the system. I think I have done enough to rule out the memory.
Installation media, I downloaded the ISO from Microsoft's eval site three different times using Firefox, Chrome and IE burned the image to DVD 2 different times and tried numerous times using Rufus on an 8GB USB stick in different USB ports. I’ve tried installing the datacenter version with both GUI and server core options. Next thing I’m going to try is to install Server 2012 from an older ISO that I have used successfully many times in the past will update later though I would prefer to install fresh from R2.
I also have the Lenovo 1GBPS Ethernet I350-T2 Server adapter by Intel for ThinkServer. I have tried installing with it inserted and with it removed, also with nothing even disabling the on board Nic in the BIOS. Same result.
The SSD drive I have is the Samsung 850 Pro 128GB. After the failure I am able to mount this drive on another machine and see that a significant amount of files get copied to it so I ruled out the sata cable. I also tried with another no SSD WD HD with the same result.  I even break out at install run dispart and clean the partitions.
    Excerpts from setupact.log on SSD:

For BIOS settings I have reverted back to defaults tried IDE instead of AHCI and also tried CSM support enabled and disabled, NIC both enabled disabled.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Solved!

In case anyone is interested the Server 2012 R@ eval ISO I had issues with is the following file:

I am also reporting this to MS.

    Please help!

I'm going to try and bring this thread back from the dead.  Buckle up, long post ahead.
Did you ever determine for sure that the issue was a system board?  I'm having a very similar issue with a machine.
I am trying to apply an image to a customer machine using ImageX, but keep running into error 1392.  This error would flag a different file every time, but always at 45-49% completion.
The image was provided by the customer in a PE image which was ghosted to multiple flash drives.  We have successfully applied the image to over 400 machines by first using disk part to clean the disk and create one ntfs partition.  We then run "Imagex.exe
    /apply path_to_customer_image.wim 1 C:"
That is where this machine would find its hangup and spit out an imagex error 1392.
My initial reaction was to replace the HDD, so I did.  The issue was not resolved, so I tested the ram and CPU with no change.  I replaced the system board with a brand new one, and the issue persists!!  This is basically a new machine by now,
so I've pretty much ruled out hardware related possibilities.
Curious as to the customer's specification on creating just one partition in preparation for imaging, I experimented a little.  I shredded the HDD in Parted Magic and used its partition editor to ensure there were no existing partitions.
Using Disk Part from X: on the imaging flash drive, I cleaned the HDD (why not?) and created an initial ntfs partition of 100mb.  I labeled it "system" and assigned it letter S.  I then created a second ntfs partition of the remaining space,
labeled it "windows," and assigned it letter C.  This partition I marked as active.
I then ran chkdsk to scan for any possible drive errors.
This time, running Imagex, the process made it to 77% before failing with error 1392 (again, a seemingly random file).  Seeing as how the failures were previously consistently between 45% and 49%, I figured I was on to something.  I repeated all of
the disk prep steps above, making the "system" partition 500mb this time.
ImageX was a success!!  100% of the WIM was applied and I received no errors.  Fantastic.
I went to boot the machine and received an error that the boot files were missing.
I booted back into the PE drive and tried running bcdboot to pull boot files and apply to my active OS partition at C:, but I received another error stating that there was a failure attempting to transfer the boot files.  I ran again in verbose and received
an error code.  I cannot remember the error code for certain (I am currently cleaning the HDD), but according to my Google history, it was 0xc1.
Any ideas??  The machine is an HP EliteBook 8470p.
Update:  Parted Magic just crashed twice attempting to wipe the hard disk.  Once running from RAM, the second time running live from the USB.  This is new....

  • IPod Classic 160gb No longer Syncs

I've had my iPod classic for about 2 years now and have had no problems other than a few issues with displaying the correct album artwork.
Two days ago, my iPod started to fail syncs, with a variety of error messages, including error 53, error 1392, claimed as corrupted and unreadable, claimed as being unable to be found, and claimed as having duplicate file names. It will sync up to a certain point and then dump two to four error messages on me, with no pattern I can discern.
I have tried restarting my computer, restoring my iPod, letting windows 'fix the errors on my drive', and reinstalling iTunes, as well as manually loading my songs onto my iPod and turning off Windows UAC, all in a variety of orders.
Stranger still, the syncing process will leave about 1500 songs on my iPod, out of my library of over 10,000, with no pattern I can discern.
I would be very thankful for any help.

ok, when i convert a video .mpg file into .mp4...then Sync it into ipod.it goes into my VIDEOS folder on ipod. but when i play the video...
visuals appear, clip plays...but no sound. why is this?
Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • Deploy OS task sequence fails when deploying to multiple computers

    Hi gang,
I'm running into an issue when imaging multiple computers with MDT 2012. Let me give some background info.
I have installed Windows 7 64 bit on a laptop in audit mode, made my configurations, sysprepped the machine, and captured a .wim using WDS (captured to an external hard drive). I then imported this .wim into MDT, created a Standard Client Task Sequence to deploy
the image, and successfully deployed it to a machine.
My problem comes up when I initiate this task sequence on multiple computers simultaneously. If I put 6 computers side-by-side and run the task sequence at the same time, only a couple machines will actually succeed. The rest fail with the following:
    FAILURE ( 5624 ): 2: Run ImageX: /apply "\\CAAPPWN40\DeploymentShare$\Operating Systems\T731 (Final) Windows 7 64 bit May 2013\T731 (Final) Windows 7 64 bit May 2013.wim"

If I restart the computer, boot back into PXE, and run the task sequence again, this time on it's own (as opposed to 6 computers at once) it works fine.
    Can anyone help?

I just rebooted the server and tried again, same result.
I keep getting a "Body text cannot contain links or images until we are able to verify your account" error when posting a hyperlink. I've had my technet account since October... weird.
