Error 1905 !!

Everytime I'm halfway through the downloading process of iTunes 7.02 + Quicktime this message pops up...
Error 1905. Module C:/Program
Files/Quicktime/QTOControl.dll failed to unregister
HRESULT - 2147220472. Contact your support personnel
I'm lost and have no clue what's going on. I've been using and updating iTunes for almost 3 years now and this is the first time this has ever happened. Help is needed!! Thank you.

Similar problems, Hkey/quicktime errors prevent install of itunes 7, and also prevent un-install of quicktime.
Seems this has been going on forever, does apple have a clue?
I read one person said to delete all registry entries that have anything to do with quicktime, but the idea of this makes me nervous.

New ipod nano and error in updating itunes and quicktime (error 1905)

this is really annoying me, i have itunes 6.0 or 6.1 or something, and i recently purchased an ipod nano.it said the new nano was only compatable with itunes 7.1, so i went to apple.com and downloaded it. it took two hours to download the set-up for itunes 7.1. i ran the set-up, and then in the middle of it this error came up:
Error 1905.Module C:/ProgramFiles/Quicktime/GTUIPanelControl.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support panel.
i pressed okay twice, and it went through the rest of the process and it says this:
Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE/Software/Classes/QuickTime/CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personel.
all of this is very frustrating, but after i click "ok", it reads this:
The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully.iTunes requires QuickTime.
Please help!i would like to utilize this ipod sooner than later, obviously.

I used that download, which seems to have worked for some people, but not others. It has something to do with downloading a VBScript. Anyway, I did this, but when I tried to complete its download, it said "Error registering the OCX C:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll"
I then tried to run that file through Run, typing in "regsvr32 %SystemRoot%\system32\vbscript.dll"
I was told it would "reregister" it. Unfortunately, I was met with other error message. ""DllRegisterServer in c:\WINDOWS\system32\vbscript.dll failed. Return code was 0x80004005"
I was told that it had something to do with not having adminstrative privilegdes. I've dealt with these "adminstrative priviledges" before when Norton refused to work, and its no happy mess. But if someone can shed any light on the situation, that would be great.

I got this very same error - I clicked okay twice, which didn't do anything, and then the x button.
The program went on and ended up installing! It seems okay at this point.

let's get an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
3. Type in a space, then the following line:
/l*v C:\log.txt
4. Hit return.
5. The installer will create a log file:
C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
- A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
- The username you are using in the thread
- The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
- A concise description of the issue you are seeing

What happens when you get Error 1905??

Okay...so what do I do? After this it goes to "stopping services", but says it is unable to do that. Then when I open I-tunes it says that the part of the program where the computer connects to the ipod was not installed correctly. this is soooo frustrating. my brother's had an ipod shuffle for about 2 years so itunes was already installed. i was just trying to update it so my ipod video could be read.

Sorry no but here is some info anyway,
We increased MaxPermSize from 192 to 512
We also increased min and max JVM Heap size to 768 and 2048 respectively.
Since then I think we have not experienced this problem more than once.
We also have one server with the default parameters and it seems to work fine.
I believe that size, and number of simultaneous request/responses have an impact on this.
We will now install the latest updates and after that decide whether to start logging jvm activities or not.

QuickTime Installation Error 1905 - failure to unregister

I got the following errors when installing QuickTime:
"Error 1905.Module C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTOControl.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT-(a number). Contact your support personnel."
Three more errors were the same, but listed QTOLibrary.dll, QTUIPanelControl.dll, and QTSystem\QuickTimeCheck.oxc as failing to unregister. My operating system is XP.
Suggestions to fix these errors, or a way to contact support personnel?

Hi Dee Gee, I got the same error when downloading itunes from the Apple site. When I called Apple support they tried to sell me a support package.
I thought I had deleted all of quicktime (i hate quicktime) from my PC, but I was wrong.
Have you heard what this error message means??

Had ipod for 7days not in use. I've bought a new one and had to update my itunes, removed old one, but it kept telling me that it could detect my old version. Anyway tried to download and the above message came up.
strangly I now have itunes my computer and now busy sorting my library out, but what does this message mean.

Cannot uninstall QuickTime & Error 1905 message

everytime I try to uninstall, it begins, and then abruptly stops. When I go in manually I could delete every thing but QTask.
I am trying to uninstall so I can reinstall QT with itunes. But everytime I try to do so I get an Error 1905 message.

Error 1905 and quicktime doesn't seem to actually exist on my computer

Everytime I try to install quicktime I get the 1905 error can't unregister message and the hkey error message. So I figure I'll just uninstall Quicktime and start fresh. Problems: 1 There is no uninstall option in the Quicktime folder. 2 When i try to do the uninstall from the start menu it does nothing. 3 I tried uninstaling from the control panel>add remove programs, but Quicktime isn't even listed. There is nothign in the system32 file either. It is in Program files though. How do i get rid of it and install the new version I can use itunes.
Why does this have to be so complicated? and why couldn't my girlfriend have gotten some easy to use mp3 player? you don't have to answer that.

Error 1905/HKEY access problems

found this somewhere else
1) Click Start, then Run, then type regedit and press OK.
2) Open HKEYLOCALMACHINE, then SOFTWARE, then Classes. Scroll down to QuickTimePlayerLib.QuickTimePlayerApp (or whatever key that you're getting an Access Denied error)
3) Right click on it (you might have to do it twice).
4) Select Permissions after ignoring any messages telling you that you don't have access
5) Once inside Permissions, click Advanced, then Owner, then click on your account, then press Apply, then OK
6) Next click Add, then Advanced, then Find Now
7) Hold down the CTRL key and click on Administrators, your own account, and SYSTEM
8) Click on Administrators, then click the Full Control checkbox. The "Read" checkbox will automatically get checked, then press Apply
9) Do this for each account. Hopefully once you do it for Administrators the others will already have Full Control checked and "Apply" will be greyed out. Press OK when you're done.
10) Next click on CLSID back in the registry editor and repeat steps 3 through 9.
11) Try installing Quicktime again and when you get another Access Denied error, note the registry key and go back and repeat steps 2 through 9 for that key.
12) Keeping trying to install Quicktime until you've resolved all the permissions for all the keys that this pathetic setup script requires
13) Eventually it will install successfully.

Itunes download error 1905.

I was trying to upgrade to itunes 7.0 and received this message. Error1905.Module c:\Program Files\Quick Time \ QTOControl.dll.failed to unregister.HResult -2147220472 Contact your support group.

Thanks for the information - that information doesn't make me happy. I tried installing with quicktime, but now ge the same message, but another message 'Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classess\Quicktime Playerlib.quicktime player app/CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support person.

I noticed no one replied to your questions but was wondering what you found out. I had an ipod shuffle and just replaced it with a 3rd gen ipod nano. The new nano who not show up on my itunes so I went in to update it to the new version and received the same exact error message you did. Were you able to figure out a solution?
Any help you can give would be greatful.
