Error: attempting to use incompatible return type

Hi, I am getting the following error while building my application. I want to support jdk 1.5 to the product.
How can I resolve this issue... I dont have the new lib for the same!
[javac] C:\venus\src\com\martquest\rulebase\RulebaseDom.java:61: getDomConfig() in org.apache.xerces.dom.CoreDocumen
tImpl cannot implement getDomConfig() in org.w3c.dom.Document; attempting to use incompatible return type

I have something like
package org.apache.xerces.dom3;
public interface DOMConfiguration {
and I want to change org.apache.xerces.dom3.DOMConfiguration to org.w3c.dom.DOMConfiguration But I cant change this as it is present in jar file. This supports jdk 1.4 and I want to give a support of jdk 1.5

    I am attempting to process color picture of pellet. I want to exclude any particle that touches the edges of the color images. I created mask from original image and used this mask on the original color image to retain only the color particles that don't touch the boundary. The error occured  when I ran the IMAQ Mask. The error message is “Error -1074396077 (IMAQ Vision:  Incompatible image type)”. How can I fix it ?

    Hi XuanThuy,
    The IMAQ Cast function is part of the Vision Development Module (VDM), under the Image Management Palette, as indicated by this document: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370281P-01/imaqvision/imaq_cast_image/. If you can't locate it and you indeed have the VDM, there may be an issue with the installation of this module. A similar issue has been encountered and resolved in this forum post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/can-t-find-IMAQ-cast-image-vi/td-p/340157. What version of the vision software are you using?

  • Should Collections be used as return types across threads?

    I am wondering when, if ever, it is appropriate to use a Collection as the return type of a method in a multi-threaded environment. Here is our situation:
    We have four classes -- Widget, WidgetManager, ClientA, and ClientB. ClientA and ClientB are running in different Threads from each other and from the WidgetManager.
    The WidgetManager class that uses a Collection of Widgets internally, and passes the Collection (or an Iterator over it) out as a return value of a method to ClientA, which is running in another thread. ClientA would start to go through it using next() and hasNext() of the Iterator. If the WidgetManager were to get a request from ClientB running in another thread to eliminate a Widget, it would attempt to remove it from the Collection. If ClientA were still looping through the Iterator, this would throw an IllegalStateException b/c the system would be in an inconsistent state. The Iterator given to the ClientA is directly linked to the actual Collection in the WidgetManager (am I right so far?).
    In my opinion, in most cases we don't want to synchronize Collections. In the example above, if we had passed out a synchronized Collection, then the WidgetManager couldn't touch the collection while the client was looping through the Iterator. If the client got hung up while looping, then the WidgetManager would be hung up. In this case, I think that it will be better to use the toArray() method of Collection to just dump out the contents to a plain array of Objects. Actually, the WidgetManager could convert this array of Objects to an array of Widgets before passing it out, which would give us the type checking that we don't get with Containers.
    The condition where you would want to use a synchronized Collection would be when you actually want the client to do some writing or removing from the Collection. I would expect this to be pretty rare since you usually dont want to give clients access to an interal member (the Collection) of a class.
    I think that it is also possible to have read-only Collections, but I think (don't know for sure) that you would still have the same IllegalStateException or synchronization probelms.
    Can someone point out the errors in my thinking? Or should you generally only use Collections as internal members in a multi-threaded environment, and use toArray() whenever you want to pass the Collection's data outside of the class?
    Thanks for any help.
    Keith

    I haven't tested what happens when you synchronize the
    Collection, but I think that you are right. But this
    causes the problem that I mentioned in the first post.
    That is, what happens if your client STARTS running
    through the Iterator, and then stops or gets hung up
    for some reason? I assume that you're still blocked.
    And it's pretty important to me in this case to not
    t be blocked -- WidgetManager is the highest level
    class in the system.
    I'd like to know if anyone has tested this.
    The Iterator implementations used in java.util do not use any synchronization by itself, (which is what you would expect since synchronization over multiple method call will involve much more complications and slower performance) . With iterator, you have to provide the necessary synchronization yourself to maintain thread-safety like this
    Iterator itr = get Iterator from collectionInstance ;
    synchronized(collectionInstance) {
    while(itr.hasNext())
    process itr.next() ...
    As long as your client code gracefully exits the synchronized block on a stop( or hangup, given that it is detected and handled fast enough), it will not be a problem.
    Also, I'd like an example of when you WOULD want to
    return a Collection. I'm specifically interested in
    when you would want to return one in a multi-threaded
    environment, but I'm beginning to wonder when you
    would EVER want to return one from a method.
    Collections are great for internal uses, but you lose
    type-checking and you expose the internals of your
    class to modification when you use them as return
    types. And if you're returning a read-only
    Collection, you might as well return an array, right?Using a read-only proxy will be much faster and space-efficient than toArray().

  • In Firefox F29,after debugging my add-on i found the error message as 'ERROR: Attempt to use .WrappedJSObject in untrusted code.What am I supposed to do now?

    It worked totally fine till FF28. I feel that it is an issue related to getting connected to XPCOM from Javascript.So my webpage is not responding for any event(eg:CLICK). I believe that I can use some other wrapping technique.Do you think XPCNativeWrapper will work instead of WrappedJSobject??

    You can get this error message if JavaScript uses a variable name to reference an object that has now become a reserved name and thus can no longer be used.
    It will be necessary to modify the code and use another name if this is the case.
    You probably can see this if you use the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) and start typing the name of this object and possibly get a list of available object for auto-completion.

  • "Attempted to use an object that has ceased to exist" error when opening list with grouping and item level permissions

    Hi All,
    I have a list with few items. If I break role inheritance for at least one item and try to open list view page, I receive this error:
    Attempted to use an object that has ceased to exist. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80030102 (STG_E_REVERTED))
    This occurs only if view has GroupBy in query. If I remove grouping from view, then error disappears. But I need to have grouping in view as well as item level permissions.
    How can I achieve this? Is this some limitation?
    Any help will be appreciated.

  • Asset Settlement You cannot use this transaction type to post to this asset

    Hi All,
    A CAPEX is created. An Asset is created. The asset is assigned to CAPEX under settlement rule. Out of several purchases made against the CAPEX, settlement for 2 months are carried out and the value of CAPEX was transferred to Asset.
    However, during the current month, while doing the settlement, the system is giving the following error :-
    "You cannot use this transaction type to post to this asset"
    Message no. AA 834
    The details diagnosis of the error message is
    "The transaction type entered belomgs to transaction type group 15. It has been specified for this transaction type group, that it is only allowed to post to asset classes for which it has been explicitly allowed (for example, the asset class for assets under construction). The asset to which you are posting belongs to class PM-501 (chart of depreciation DEIL). You cannot post to this asset class using the transaction type entered"
    Request to please let me know what could be the possible reasons for system giving such message adn how to rectify it.
    Regards
    Santosh

    Hi Santosh,
    I would suggest that you Check the <b>asset number</b> you entered. You may want to allow posting to this asset class using this transaction type group. If this is not the case, then, you may have to ask the business to reverse the initial posting causing this error and re-post with the correct transaction type that is allowed for this asset class.
    I hope the above helps.
    Do not forget to award the points please.

    Jacob

  • Incompatible, unrelated return types compile error

    I have:

         public ActionModel getModel();
    public interface ValueControl<V, C extends ValueControl<V, C>> extends Control<C>
         public ValueModel<V> getModel();
    public interface ActionValueControl<V, C extends ActionValueControl<V, C>> extends ActionControl<C>, ValueControl<V, C>
         public ActionValueModel<V> getModel();
    public interface ActionValueModel<V> extends ValueModel<V>, ActionModel
    }The 1.5_04 compiler gives me:
    "ActionValueControl.java:9: types ValueControl<V,C> and ActionControl<C> are incompatible; both define getModel(), but with unrelated return types
    public interface ActionValueControl<V, C extends ActionValueControl<V, C>> extends ActionControl<C>, ValueControl<V, C>"
    The getModel() return types may be unrelated in the super interfaces, but the interface being defined clearly returns a type that satisfies both constraints.

  • Error when using record group type as param in a function in where clause

    Hi folks.
    I have a record type defined in a packages specification. I have to use this record as parameter to call a function. I am able to call the function if as return its value to a string variable. However, the function should be called into a query to compare the returned value and this code is not compiled.
    The code is below:
    DECLARE
    l_line_group_rec INL_CUSTOM_PUB.inl_ship_headers_rec;
    l_name VARCHAR2(100);
    l_count NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    l_name := INL_GET_PARTY_SITE_NAME(l_line_group_rec); -- Compiling successfully
    SELECT COUNT(1)
    INTO l_count
    FROM dual
    WHERE INL_GET_PARTY_SITE_NAME(l_line_group_rec) = 'Allied Manufacturing'; --- Error when compiling
    END;
    I got the error: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'INL_GET_PARTY_SITE_NAME'
    I would like to know if there is any restriction in using record type as parameter in where clauses or if there is another way to do it.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi.
    The definition of INL_GET_PARTY_SITE_NAME:
    FUNCTION INL_GET_PARTY_SITE_NAME(p_line_group_rec INL_CUSTOM_PUB.inl_ship_headers_rec) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS

    We have requirement to get the results from procedure usind JDBC callable statement call.
    We have tried to call the procedure via JDBC callable statement but it didn't work.
    We have constructed it like the following. It was throwing error "java.sql.SQLException: invalid column type: emp_pkid_pkg.tp_emp_profile
    CallableStatement cs2 = con.prepareCall("{call emp_pkid_pkg.er_employe_prov_profile(?,?)}");
    cs2.registerOutParameter(2, OracleTypes.CURSOR, emp_pkid_pkg.tp_emp_profile);
    cs2.setString(1,empId);
    Not sure whether I am doing the logic correctly. But i tryed with diff type. Still am getting same error like above.
    Please point me to the correct approach.
    Thanks

    Can't be done - the reason has nothing to do with JDBC so you are in the wrong forum.
    Repost in the PL/SQL forum and I can give you an example of what you have to do
    PL/SQL
    First the TYPEs you defined are PL/SQL types so can't be referenced outside PL/SQL; you need to define SQL types.
    Second you will need to use a procedure that returns a REF CURSOR or is a PIPELINED procedure. Since your procedure doesn't fall into either category you can't use it with JDBC to do what you want.
    If your query was a PIPELINED function then you could simply query it like it was a table. I have a PIPELINED function name 'get_emp' so this works.
    select * from table(get_emp(30));Post in the PL/SQL forum and I can give you the code for the procedure. I'm not going to clutter up this forum with inappropriate material.

  • Error 136 Functions that can be compossed must declare a return type

    Hello,
    I have downloaded the EF Final Release driver and Im working with Oracle 11g express.
    I have the following Procedure:
    PROCEDURE ProductosPedido(
    Datos Out SYS_RefCursor) IS
    BEGIN
    OPEN Datos FOR
    SELECT Nombre,
    TO_NUMBER(Precio * (SELECT SUM(unidades)
    FROM DETALLES_PEDIDO
    WHERE PRODUCTO = PRODUCTO.ID)) Importe
    FROM PRODUCTO;
    END;
    And the following config section:
    <oracle.dataaccess.client>
    <settings>
    <add name="System.Productospedido.RefCursor.Datos" value="implicitRefCursor bindinfo='mode=Output'"/>
    <add name="System.Productospedido.RefCursorMetaData.Datos.Column.0" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=Nombre;BaseColumnName=Nombre;BaseSchemaName=System;BaseTableName=Producto;NativeDataType=nvarchar2;ProviderType=NVarchar2;DataType=System.String;ColumnSize=50;AllowDBNull=true;IsKey=false'" />
    <add name="System.Productospedido.RefCursorMetaData.Datos.Column.1" value="implicitRefCursor metadata='ColumnName=Importe;NativeDataType=number;ProviderType=Decimal;DataType=System.Decimal;AllowDBNull=false;IsKey=false;ColumnSize=8'" />
    </settings>
    </oracle.dataaccess.client>
    I have imported succesfully in my EF Model, but when I try to consume the Procedure it gives me Error 136 Functions that can be compossed must declare a return type
    Any solutions?
    Thanks and best regards!

    A stored procedure does not have a ReturnType, therefore IsComposable="false" and it cannot be used in LINQ queries.
    This limitation is imposed by EF and not by ODP.
    You may want to create a stored function which has a ReturnType ref cursor, and include this stored function into your model. Then, under the same namespace, you create a class with a "stub" method/function and use EdmFunction() to map this stub to the stored function. For example,
    class myFuncClass
    [EdmFunction("Model.Store", "MY_STORED_FUNC_1")]
    public static <your_complex_type_or_DbDataRecord> MyFunc_1(int? column1, ...)
    throw new NotSupportedException("Direct calls are not supported");
    You should be able to call myFuncClass.MyFunc_1(x) in your LINQ query. Your stored function MY_STORED_FUNC_1 will be called in the generated query.

  • EvaluatingTteststand 4.2.1: Null pointer access violation (error 17502) when attempting to use a mixed-mode std::map / boost shared_ptr class contained in a DLL through an interface from a different DLL

    Hi there.
    I have been working on a test system which will potentially have TestStand at its core, and downloaded/installed the 4.2.1 evaluation. Current details from the information dialog are:
    TestStand Engine version 4.2.1 (4.2.1.83)
    Sequence Editor Verison 4.2.1.83
    The system will drive mobile radio devices using RS232 serial interfaces, usnig a variety of serial protocols (Hayes, and a couple of proprietary binary protocols for other work).
    We already have in existence a soak tester, written in VS2005 with MFC unmanaged DLLs and also managed DLLs, which are mixed up together to provide different aspects of the functionality required for the binary protocols.
    I have created:
    1. a "master wrapper" DLL for the constellation of other DLLs - this offers up a simple C-API interface which I hope TestStand will use. It's called "SerialSessionMgr.dll""
    2. a mixed managed / unmanaged "IJW" (it just works) DLL which wraps up the binary logging protocol control interfaces, which are entirely in managed C++/CLI: the "master wrapper" DLL calls into this through an unmanaged interface to create instances of the CLI-compiled class which interfaces to the underlying managed DLLs imlpementing the logging protocol. This is called "WinTseInterface.dll".
    Before I started evaluating TestStand, I knocked up a test harness using CPPUnit / MFC, with which I was able to test SerialSessionMgr.dll and its' use of WinTseInterface.dll and verify they worked. The harness loads the DLL dynamically at run-time using AfxLoadLibrary() to try to emulate the way TestStand uses it.
    When we open a
    TSE session:
    The SerialSessionManager makes a call to the
    WinTseInterface.dll to "create" a logging instance. The instance is
    created in a std::map which is held by the CWinApp derived class, this map
    contains boost::shared_ptr of the class which works with a managed class. So we
    have a call trace: Client
    app->SerialSessionManager{TseStartSession()}->WinTseInterface{WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge()} - WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge()
    just creates a new instance of the unmanaged class which interfaces through to
    the managed CLI/C++ class beneath, and returns the address to the
    SerialSessionManager, which stores it.
    The SerialSessioManager actually initialises the WinTseBridge using a method of a C++ pure virtual interface class to the class in the std::map in the WinTseInterface DLL
    implements. The initialise call passes miscellaneous details and actually calls
    "gcnew" to create the managed class which interfaces to the
    underlying managed DLLs which implement the logging protocol.
    My logs of the DLL loading as seen in VS2005 debug output are attached this message as PDFs
    While trying to fix this, I have tried:
    Enhancing the WinTseInterface DLL so it manually loads all the other assemblies in the logging system, including the managed portion of WinTseInterface itself (no effect)
    All the different options for the way the C DLL adapter loads and unloads the DLL in the DLL adapter steptype in TestStand
    I've even tried calling directly into the WinTseInterface DLL before trying any SerialSessionManager DLL calls to try to load the WinTseInterface DLL completely beforehand
    and I cannot stop this exception.
    It seems like the object is created in the WinTseInterface DLL OK (I have debugged the creation step which runs for WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge() and the object is created OK) when the SerialSessionManager makes the call, but when it calls the first managed function, which creates the managed object, the DLL is reloaded as managed - I suspect this causes the object to be destroyed or overwritten, and thus the call to initialise bombs with null pointer violation.
    Have I done something obviously wrong, and what other approaches can I take?
    Does TestStand 4.2.1 have issues with driving DLLs which use managed/unmanaged DLLs beneath them?
    My nuclear option is to throw the WinTseInterface DLL out completely and wrap up the managed C++ CLI code in a new interface, entirely managed, and use the TestStand ".Net" adaptor to drive that, creating my step library to run to that directly. This isn't ideal as I have some co-ordination of the protocols which is implemented in the SerialSessionMgr DLL.
    I hope someone can help. This one's low level, dirty and a stumper to me.
    Many thanks to the NI community. This is my first posting!
    Solved!

    Hi there Ray.
    First - many thanks for engaging with this thorny problem. Love the avatar BTW.
    I've been using the C/C++ DLL adapter: the original premise of the Serial Session Manager DLL was to provide a simple C type functional interface, using simple data types, so that TestStand would be able to drive the underlying functionality easily through a single DLL.
    Seeing as you've been kind enough to respond, I should explain the makeup of the DLLs a little more, I think.
    The SerialSessionManager (SSMgr) DLL uses C++ and MFC internally. This is the DLL which TestStand calls into directly through the C/C++ adapter. This DLL does have one odd feature though - because the it uses the Windows Multimedia Timer (implemented in WinMM.dll) I had to artificially create a scenario where it would load the .Net mscoree DLL _before_ it loads WinMM.dll - (http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/329819/freelibrary-in-the-winmm-dlls-modu...), basically WinMM.dll's init code gets rather upset when .Net DLLs load, which causes the entire executable to be unloaded with subsequent crashes.
    To work around this crash, the SSMgr has a single, completely empty, file which is compiled for CLR, effectively forcing a dependency into the DLL on the .Net subsystems and turning the DLL into a "IJW" binary. The resulting DLL doesn't actually have any executable managed .Net assemblies, but I'm guessing that it does contain enough .Net related stubs and information that when the DLL is loaded, mscoree.dll loads before WinMM.dll - and this means the system doesn't crash.
    Now, on to the WinTseInterface DLL. My initial description of this little software system was done in something of a hurry.
    This DLL is the C++/CLI "IJW" DLL which actually contains managed and unmanaged code. Underneath the WinTseInterface DLL is another system of (this time exclusively C++/CLI) DLL assemblies which implement the TSE protocol interpretation system.
    When the SSMgr DLL needs to start a TSE protocol session, it calls a C-API function in the WinTseInterface which creates a new CWinTseBridge class. Here's the steps in a little more detail:
    SSMgr DLL calls WINTSE_GetWinTseBridge(), passing in the name of the device which needs it (this is used to put the new WinTseBridge into a std::map in the WinTseInterface DLL) - this call runs just fine, and returns the address of the CWinTseBridge C++ object. This is stored in the SSMgr, because the CWinTseBridge class implements a pure virtual interface which is used by the SSMgr as a way of accessing the CWinTseBridge methods.
    We now use the address from (1) to make a call to CWinTseBridge::Initialise(), passing some basic configuration details.
    I've run VS2005 debug on the Sequence Editor when running the test, and done F11 step-throughs of the code loading each parameter in the Initialise() call onto the stack, and what appears to happen is that when the call is made, the whole lot steps off into oblivion (a reference to 0x00000000 is made, I think).
    Do you think it's worth trying to get this approach to work? It would be useful to retain the control surface in the top of the SSMgr as there is co-ordination of the protocols within the logic of that component. If I move the Wintse control out into a separate managed DLL I may not have that co-ordination (this might be overcome with some design, as I've confirmed that it is possible to "reach into" the WinTseInterface DLL with TestStand and create and use managed objects from assemblies contained within).
    Are there any known issues with this version of TestStand using C/C++ CLI IJW DLLs? I haven't found much out there on the web.

  • "uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version" error message when opening a *.doc file with Word already running

    Several customers running different versions of Office 2011 (14.4.1-14.4.5) on OSX varying from 10.7.5 to 10.9.5, running on various kinds of hardware (iMac/MacBook Pro/MacBook Air) of various ages are having issues opening *.doc files if the Word is already open. The error message that gets displayed is, "XXXX.doc uses a file type that is blocked from opening in this version"
    When the customer tries to open the same file via File-Open, she gets "The file is locked for editing. you can open the file as read-only".
    When trying to do so, she gets "Word cannot open this document. The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document, or the file name might contain invalid characters".
    If Word gets Force-quit, the same document opens without any problems.
    1. Repairing Disk permissions was ran several times. and the volume was found to be OK.
    2. I have noticed that in this scenario either deleting the normal.dotm or com.microsoft.word.plist (~/Library/Preferences) sometimes resolves the issue, sometimes it doesn’t. There is no pattern to follow. All versions of Office are affected, the fully updated and the non-updated ones.
    3. I have tried completely removing the suite using Office 2011 Uninstall.app and/or Remove Office 2011 Uninstaller.pkg, then going through customer's library and manually removing all the Office references.
    4. None of these systems had Office 2008 in the past.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Reboot both the Mac and the server. Word opens .DOC files and Excel opens .XLS files. As you have found out by copying the files to the computer. It is the connection between the 2 computer that is causing the error.
