Error:cannot install gmail on original iPad  after deleting account and trying to re-install

After entering valid name & password, I get an error that cannot connect to imap.gmail & that ID and/or password have been entered incorrectly.
I have verified everything in the gmail account, and cannot find why this is happening.

Its likely to be two factor authentication.
I had this same issue and spent a long time trying to work out why. It occurred after I got a got a new iPhone. I went as far as resetting all my passwords, deleting my gmail accounts from the iPhone mail app etc. It turns out my issue (and hopefully yours) was that I had two-factor authentication turned on for gmail security. You have to put in a 16 digit unique password into the iPhone mail app rather than your normal sign in password. Generate this by going into your gmail --> settings --> accounts and import --> other google account settings --> security --> (check that 2 factor authentication is enabled) --> click settings next to 2 step verification --> app specific passwords ---> manage app specific passwords --> then use the drop down menus to select app (customise name - iPhone) and device. It will give you a 16 digit password and instructions on where to put it. If you are setting up the account fresh then put the app specific 16 digit password in INSTEAD of your normal gmail password.

    I use gmail.  When I delete an email and empty my trash i have some emails that continue to show on my ipad when I search for the recipient even though it is completely gone from my gmail.  Does anyone know why that is?  How can I remove it?  When I click on that email it appears to be in a compose mode.  I have tried to send it to myself and delete it but it persists on showing up on my ipad.

    First of all: Now it works! Yeah :-)
    What I did:
    1. Kill my iCloud account just on the iPhone. Not on the iMac, just on the iPhone. And I told the iPhone to kill all contacts etc. JUST on the iPhone.
    2. Activate iCloud on the iPhone with my Apple-ID.
    3. After about 3 Minutes all was back again! :-) Including all my calendars now! Yippieh...

    having trouble up-dating itunes, one suggestion was to un-install and then re-install itunes. On deleting itunes from control panel, I get the following message
    "error getting file security: C:\Users\PC\AppData\Roaming\MicroSoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\Get Last Error:87" When I get to quick Launch, I do not see  "get last error 87". Any advice?

    Update your iOS.
    If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

    If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.

Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

    You seem to be running the latest Firefox 9.0.1 version according to the user agent in your system details list:

    Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.
    You should however be able to add existing accounts to your device, are you sure you aren't trying to create on rather than simply use an existing one.

    Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.
