Error Code 4280

I have spent the day researching this problem.
I have a Dell Dimension 4550 computer with a _NEC CD-RW NR 9300A Drive. I suddenly began having a problem burning discs.
As soon as it starts to write to the disc I get the error message "An Unknown Error has occured (4280)
I have tested the drive to make sure it is working, I have attempted to adjust the speed and tried a number of other fixes for different drives suggested on the internet to no avail.
If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

CD burn had error code 4280, HELP!!!

I installed the latest version of iTunes, but as many other postings I've read, I have not been able to successfully burn a CD with iTunes since the installation. Every time I get the message, "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4280)." I have used Device Manager in the Control Panel to try and update the driver for the CD-ROM, but Windows says it cannot find a better driver than the one I have installed. I also ran CD Diagnostics in the iTunes help menu and the text is attached below:

I have asked this same question 4x this will be my 5th time. I keep getting an error code 4280 and I have no idea what it is or how to fix it. Someone.... anyone please help.

I am trying to burn a cd from itunes and I keep getting error code 4280. I cant even burn cd that old cds that I loaded to my library.

I keep getting error code 4280 when trying to burn a cd from downloaded itunes songs. I can't even burn a cd from my own cds that I loaded to my library. Is there a fix for this?

I have Windows 7 on a Dell. Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2). Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode. This has worked for me. I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc. These ideas did not work. Compatability mode works.

When I try to burn cd's I get the message 'cancelling disc burn' and an error code '4280', also I can't burn cd's on WMP all this has started after I upgraded, any ideas?

Failed while scanning for CD / DVD drives, error 2380.
Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.
With that one, I'd start with solution 3 from the following document:
iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install

Have spent hours looking for a solution for this!
When using itunes to burn CD keep getting this error code.
Have uninstalled itunes and re-installed, to see if this might work, but no.
There are so MANY discussions about this issue, if I try to contact Apple, I get no further than

If you see an error message with “Unknown Error” and an error code, try the following solutions before you attempt to burn another CD or DVD.
Make sure the disc is clean. Wipe the shiny surface with a soft, damp cloth, working from center to edge.
Do not move, bump, or shake the computer while the disc is being burned.
Use blank discs that are rated for the burn speed of your drive, or consider using a different brand of disc.
Specify a burn speed that is lower than the maximum speed rating for your optical drive.
Quit all open apps you’re not using.
Restart your computer and try burning the disc again.
If your startup disk is nearly full, try to free up space on it. The amount of free space on the startup disk needs to be greater than the amount of data you’re burning. Erase unnecessary files. Back up files you don’t use often, and then remove them.
Repair your startup disk with Disk Utility. For more information, see this topic in Disk Utility Help: Repair a disk

I can't burn a CD. Error Code 4280 why is this?

I just purchased a CD of itunes. When I went to burn the cd onto a disc all it says is something about error 4280. I do have the current updated version of itunes.

Exactly what's the point of releasing this now if I can't get a search engine to go with it? I'm going back to 4. whatever & & you douches can call me when you get this figured out.

I haven't been able to burn cds ever since the new update from ITunes. I have tried troubleshooting using steps from the support on this website. However, that was primarily for a Sony drive. I happen to have an Acer 5100-3583 Model with a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-8505. I hate not being able to burn cds, please help if you can.

I just tried to reduce the speed the drive it self and I still got error code 4280...I don't know wuts going on because I can't burn anything in windows media player either.
that's not an especially good sign. i get worried about 4280s because they can sometimes indicate a hardware problem in the drive. (for example, belladonna started throwing them at me when her Lite-On drive started to die.)
we'd better check to see if you're properly up to date before checking on that possibility though.
i had a look at your downloads page at HP. (thank you kindly for including your model number in your system information.)
Software & Driver downloads: HP Pavilion dv2125nr Notebook PC (XP)
there's nothing there by way of new firmware for the drive that is throwing the 4280. but there are a few other downloads of interest.
check to see if that HP Notebook System BIOS update is applicable to your particular configuration of dv2125nr, and if so, make sure you're up to date.
check to see if that new AMD Processor Update for Microsoft Windows XP is applicable to your configuration, and if so make sure you're up to date with it.
check to see if your NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 Graphics Driver is up to date.
once you're satisfied that you're up to date, do you still get the 4280?

CD Burning error sometimes 4280 sometimes 4261

Hiya, I've recently started getting problems burning, it'll start, check the playlist, then say it's starting to write, and then it'll just cancel and eject the disc

I'm having exactly the same problem with 4450 & 4850 errors, using compatible hardware and several different brands of blank media. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and made sure my drive's drivers are current. It seems that a number of users are experiencing the same problem, and I'm anxious to see an explanation and solution posted.

hmmm. i went to Toshiba to check for any available updates for your Satellite ... but they split out the downloads by subcategories for the A105, and so i'm not sure what your precise model is.

when i try to burn a playlist on my pc using itunes i am getting an error code 4280 and i can not burn. i have tried to burn using a seperate dvd burner aswell as the one in my pc and still i have no luck. can anyone please help?

I have tried turning the burning speed down and putting the disc in first and the turning Itunes on and NOTHING works!!! I'm getting sooooooo frustrated!!!! Please help!!

I tried new disc's and everything. Nothing works.
I'm trying to figure out a was to move my music over to Windows Media Player at the moment coz that seems to have no problems burning disc's.
Unfortunatly as most of you know you can only play songs brought off itunes in itunes, funny that. Looks like they're stuck there and all my new stuff can go onto Media Player instead.
If anyone knows if there is anyway to convert these files please tell me. I would probably have more luck with that then trying to solve the "Error Message 4280" mystery!
