Error connecting to mySQL...
I have been testing JSP and get a strange error at this line:
Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver");
The error message: http://www.hyrum.net/therecord/index.jsp
Any ideas?
Yes I have since changed it to have the NewInstance call. I was missing the jar file and then I also needed to change the mysql.users file.
Apparently localhost is treated differently by JSP so it returns localhost.localdomain instead of just localhost.
So I got it going yesterday :) Thanks guys.

Error connecting to MySQL database
Well I am a beginner trying to get the basics of JDBC. I am following a simple connection tutorial and I cannot even make this work. I receive an error when I run the program. It is a nested error that begins with "java.io.EOFException". I'm thinking it has something to do with the URL I am using to connect to the database. Any ideas?
Here is the code I am using if that helps at all.
import java.sql.Connection;
import java.sql.DriverManager;
import java.sql.SQLException;
public class jdbctry {
public static void main(String args[]) {
Connection con = null;
try {
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://url:port/database",
if(!con.isClosed())
System.out.println("Successfully connected to " +
"MySQL server using TCP/IP...");
} catch(Exception e) {
System.err.println("Exception: " + e.getMessage());
} finally {
try {
if(con != null)
con.close();
} catch(SQLException e) {}
} edit- I think the problem was I had a bad port number assigned to the URL. This time I got a "java.net.SocketException" error. It says my connection timed out.

lw22I'll assume that you've substituted appropriate values into that connection URL, right?
It s
// host = IP address or name of machine where MySQL is listening
// port = 3306 (default)
// database = instance you wish to connect to
// username, password have to be GRANTed access rights.
String url = "jdbc:mysql://host:port/database";Can you connect using the MySQL client and see the database you want in Java? If the client can't connect, neither can JDBC.

Plz help me--error connecting to MySQL server
While trying to connect to the MySQL server database,
SqlConn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://" + "database_server_addr/database_name?user=kiosk&password=!xyzabc");
I get the following error.
Error while connecting to mysql
Communication link failure: null
Notice the ! symbol(exclamation mark) present in the connection string above for the password value i.e., !xyzabc
Is the problem with the ! symbol in my password, coz I am able to connect
if I changed my password omitting the ! symbol. But I would like to connect with the ! symbol in the password. Any quick help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Bussa.
[email protected]specify the database Server address, you can't do it with the "HTTP URL"
String url = "jdbc:mysql://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx";
Class.forName("mySql spec");
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,"user", "pass"); -
Error connecting to mysql via ODBC

I set up Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC with mysql driver (I tried mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.11-1.x86_64.rpm (currently used and log output shown) and mysql-connector-odbc-5.2.2-1.x86_64.rpm). I am unable to create a connection to the mysql database.

Error Connecting to MySql (character set index '49')
I downloaded the Oracle Sql Developer extensions and went to Tools / Preferences / Third Part and set the location for the Jar file.
When I try and test the connection to the MySql database I get this error:
An error was encountered performing the requested operation:
Unknown initial charater set index '49' received from the server.
Initial client character set can be forced via the 'characterEncoding' property.
Vendor code 0
My dba's used Sql developer to connect to the same MySql database fine. If I use MySql Workbench, I can connect. (I prefer Sql Developer, so I was hoping to get this connection to work.)
I even tried going to MySql to get their Connection/J JDBC jar file; but the same results.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
MikeAre your colleagues using the same sqldev/JDBC versions? Which?
Did you follow the guide on setting it up, and the driver from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/ ?

Error connecting to MySQL database using JNDI
Hi,
I'm trying to do a simple connection to a MySQL database using the JNDI look-up
method.
Have tried this with the PointBase database that came with WebLogic and got it
to work successfully.
However got the attached error message when I tried it on MySQL database. I tried
this with both the WebLogic's driver for MySQL and also the one I downloaded from
MySQL (com.mysql.jdbc.Driver), and both failed with the same error message.
Offhand, it doesn't look like the connection pool is failing. Tested it with WebLogic's
"Test Pool" function and it was alright.
Also MySQL database is working properly. Test this by doing simple connection
and retrieval with simple JDBC connections and it works.
Any ideas what else I can check with regards to this problem?
Thanks!
[att1.html]Hi Joe,
Attached is the config.xml for the domain that I'm working with. There are 3 connection
pools set-up.
The problematic Connection Pools are "MySQLCP" and "My JDBC Connection Pool"
Thanks for your help in this!

Unidentified error connecting to MySql
I’m almost embarrassed to post this question because
there seems to be plenty of the same issue already here. On the
other hand I’m not as embarrassed as the developer who
created such a useless message as “unidentified error”
.... but that’s another story.
I’ve reviewed those other messages & solutions and
still get this error.
I’m running Dreamweaver MX version 6.1 under Windows XP
and trying to connect to a local MySql database.
I have no problem connecting to the local database using
several other applications (including Navicat) so I think my set up
is okay.
I’ve also tested the connection with my browser (
http://localhost/mysite_root/test-connect.php)
and that test was successful.
I have defined the document type (PHP of course) and testing
server models.
I am attempting to use the + sign in the databases tab and
navigate to the MySql database and that is when the
“unidentified error” occurs.
I have tried removing the connection scripts.
I have downloaded and applied updates from the Adobe web
site.
One posting mentioned modifying the php.ini file, but it is
unclear what to change or even why that would be necessary since
everything else works.
I admit that establishing this MySql connection should be a
no-brainer that takes minutes not hours. But I’m out of
ideas.TheLark wrote:

Your settings seem to be correct. Other likely causes of the
"Unidentified error" are:
* MySQL isn't running (since you can connect with Navicat,
that's
probably not applicable).
* A software firewall is preventing connection between
Dreamweaver and
MySQL.
* You have old versions of the hidden connection scripts. I'm
not sure
if this option is available in MX 6.1, but go to Site >
Advanced, and
select Remove Connection Scripts. Then create a new MySQL
Connection in
Dreamweaver. This replaces the contents of a hidden folder
called
_mmServerScripts, which controls communication between
Dreamweaver and
MySQL.
The reason you get "Unidentified error" is because
Dreamweaver cannot
even communicate with MySQL, and therefore cannot identify
the problem.

Can't connect PHP/MySQL 404 error
Wow, the learning curve is killing me. Yet another challenge. I'm using Dreamweaver CC and this tutorial http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html
I'm at this step:
Open comments.php. You must have a PHP page open in the Document window to create a MySQL connection.
In the Databases panel (choose Window > Databases), click the Plus button on the panel and select MySQL Connection.The MySQL Connection dialog box appears.
Type connTest as the connection name.
For the MySQL Server, type localhost.If you are using the MAMP default ports on a Mac, use localhost:8889.
For the User Name, type phptestuser.
Type the password you chose for the phptestuser account in the Password field.
For the Database, type php_test.Note: You don't need to precede the underscore with a backslash here. It was inserted by phpMyAdmin in the previous section (see Figure 20) only because phpMyAdmin uses a query that permits wildcard characters.
Click Test.Dreamweaver attempts to connect to the database. If the connection fails, do the following:
Double-check the server name, user name, and password.
Check the settings for the folder Dreamweaver uses to process dynamic pages (see Specifying a Testing Server for Dreamweaver).
Verify that the web and MySQL servers are both running.
Temporarily disable any firewall or security program. If the connection works, you need to configure the security program to permit communication between Dreamweaver and MySQL.
Click OK. The new connection appears in the Databases panel.
Expand the connTest connection, and then expand the Tables branch. You'll see the comments table in the database, which you can expand to reveal the details of the table columns (see Figure 23).
As far as I can tell I have followed this tutorial to the letter.
As far as I can tell, XAMPP/php mySQL are all running fine, the files are in the correct place and everything should be working. However when I hit test I get a 404 error. (Same error when I hit the select button.)
The suggested problems on the 404 message are:
1. There is no testing server running on the server machine.
Pretty sure the testing server is running. Is there any way to test this, other than to note that xampp is definitely running right now and that I can log into phpMYadmin no problem?
2. The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://localhost/php_test/_MMServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.php URL Verify that the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site.
Ummm...I'm pretty sure I put things where I was told to put them in the tutorial, but I'm lost at this point where I should verify what. A clue here? The files are where they are supposed to be, but maybe I entered something wrong? Except...I'm not sure what that could be or where to find it. Whatever IT is.
Everything in local files is looking good.
Thanks for your help!
PS: Extra points to anyone who figures out how to make copy/pasteable error messages! These buggers are the bane of my life!Bgupta, you rock!
I hope you have copied the "mysql.php" and "MMHTTPDB.php" files from "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC\locale\Configuration\Connections\Scripts\PHP_MySQL\_mmDBScripts" to "C:\xampp\htdocs\phptest\_mmServerScripts"
This was EXACTLY the problem. I checked the tutorial and I couldn't even find where the tutorial said to do this. (If I missed it, let me know where in the tutorial it was, please.)

Error when connecting to MySQL Database
I am trying to connect to MySQL and receive an error everytime. I have attempted to talk to Bluehost (who my site is hosted thru) and they said it is not on their end and not something they can help me with. I set up a new MySQL Database with Bluehost and then set up the site through DW and everything went fine. I secured an ftp connection and went on to connect to MySQL. When I enter in my credentials for SQL Database, it returns:
HTTP Error Code 404:
Reason 1. No testing server running on the server machine.
Reason 2. Testing server specified for this site deos not map to the http://my_domain.com/_mmServerScripts/MMHTPDB.php URL. Verify the URL Prefix maps to the site.
The testing server model I am using is set to PHP MySQL and URL Prefix I am using (my_domain.com) is my website URL. I watched a YouTube video someone suggested elsewhere on how to add MMHTTPDB.php and mysql.php files to _mmServerScripts folder since the folder is empty but unfortunately, those files are not found on my computer. I assume they were supposed to be installed when I installed DW, but they are not here. I have done a general search of the comp and looked in each folder that was installed with DW and sadly, no files that match those names. What can I do? How can I make an SQL connection? Please help. It is greatly appreciated.

Dear Fellas:
I received "database error #2002 can not connect local mysql server to socket through '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'(2)" on mac os x 10.9.2.
mysql info:
ps -ef | grep mysql
0 66 1 0 11:06AM ?? 0:00.04 /bin/sh /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql
74 225 66 0 11:06AM ?? 0:02.50 /usr/local/mysql/bin/mysqld --basedir=/usr/local/mysql --datadir=/usr/local/mysql/data --plugin-dir=/usr/local/mysql/lib/plugin --user=mysql --log-error=/usr/local/mysql/data/Chuans-MacBook-Pro-2.local.err --pid-file=/usr/local/mysql/data/Chuans-MacBook-Pro-2.local.pid --socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
501 952 947 0 3:52PM ttys000 0:00.00 grep mysql
Please help!!Fascinated and guessing:
Something related to sock(2) because that's not part of your copied info. I'm thinking you've doubled up on sockets and the second socket doesn't exist, meaning you should be connecting to the first socket "mysqld.sock" whether automatic or not.
I've only used GUI tools on purpose, so does this mean you've already got MySQL running and you tried to launch it again manually? Perhaps you already have one instance of a db and you're trying to launch a second instance, and the two can't coexist with a single user local db?
Assuming this is all local, I'd shut down the db service and restart it, out of hand. I've seen similar messages when I set the db to start up on boot, and it didn't finish shutting down when I tried to restart it manually. Usually the GUI won't let me turn it on because it reports it's already running, but in that case it hadn't finished performing what the GUI was reporting.
Just speculating. -
Mysql_connect "Lost connection to MySQL..." error 61
A web developer is getting this error on a test web server of ours that is running 10.5.7 Server.
"Warning: mysql_connect() function.mysql-connect: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 61 in..."
I've seen other postings online for this error suggesting that the line containing 'bind-address 127.0.0.1' be commented out within /etc/my.conf... but this line doesn't exists on my installation.
MySQL and php have been working well for other databases and developers. This is a newly created database.
Has anyone else seen this error and found a fix?
Thanks!This is more than likely a firewall problem on your users end. I just ran into this when moving my servers to a colocation. Everything was fine until i tried to connect to an outside database from the machines behind the new firewall. was set to allow 3306 in, but not out. And would connect without issues to localhost:/var/mysql/mysql.sock .
from the machine trying to connect from try
shell> telnet <servername> 3306
should be able to login. if refused, then port is closed.

Hello! I met a problem when connect to Mysql Databse in
Dreamweaver
Details:
My Php Environment: Php 5.2.2+ MySql 5.0.4 + IIS 6.0 + DW IDE
+ WinXP SP2,
All necessary sevice started(Actually I have never stopped
any Windows service).
Php installed (IIS + CGI) and tested successfully in DW
MySql Installtion(Typical Install with extensions ) and
configuration are both OK.
Configuration Details:
For configuration type, select Detailed Configuration.
For server type, select Developer Machine
For database usage, select Non-Transactional Database Only.
For the number of concurrent connections, select Decision
Support(DSS)/OLAP.
For networking options, accept the default settings.
For the default character set, accept the default setting.
For the Windows options, select both options – Install
As Windows Service, and Include Bin Directory in Windows Path.
For security options, enter a root password and confirmed.
And then I Created a database "mydb" with 3 tables inside by
"MySql Command Line Client",
...... (Approach Obmit here)
Open "MySql Command Line Client":
Type >mysql Show Database mydb;
Show a list with 3 tables(Created Successfully)
Then In DW,
Open my Php webpage,
Then from Database Panel>MySql Connection,
Connect Name:myconn
Mysql Server:localhost
Username:root (Right)
Password:111111(Right)
Database:mydb
Click "OK", but when DW tried to connect to MySql database,
then DW popuped an alert dialog says "HTTP Error Code 502 Bad
Gateway",
I don't know what this mean and how to solve this problem,
hope any PHP and DW expert can help me, thank you very much.Phoenix Wang wrote:

I have been unable to create a database connection in dreamweaver to my MySql
server. Each time I receive the message "an unidentified error has occurred".
I can use pure php code to create a connection successfully:
<?php
$username = "root";
$password = "password";
$hostname = "localhost";
$dbh = mysql_connect($hostname, $username, $password)
or die("Unable to connect to mysql");
print "connected to mysql<br>";
$selected = mysql_select_db("test",$dbh)
or die("Could not select first_test");
if (mysql_query("insert into test_table values('5')")) {
print "successfully inserted record";
else {
print "Failed to insert record";
mysql_close($dbh);
?>
This works, I can successfully insert a record. However, if I try and create
a connection in Dreamweaver with these same variables, I receive the message
"an unidentified error has occurred". I have tried, deleting the _mm
connection scripts folder and recreating them. I have used the mx2004 updater,
I have tried all document types... nothing seems to work...
i am using local server (phptraid)
PHPTriad 2.2 contains the following changes:
Updated packages for Apache(1.3.23), MySQL(3.23.48) and PHP(4.1.1).
also using remote host at (www.0fees.net)
last thing i would to say in my computer i success only one time to make connection in window 7 - dreamweaver cs4
and i create this site mwlobby.0fees.net
but now i downloaded dreamweaver cs5 and i need to install new windows
so i need help
any suggestions?Turn your iPhone to a DFU mode and restore it
