Error Creating Table

Using Oracle XE.
I'm trying to create a table and getting the following error:
ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
I've created other tables without problems.
My syntax for the table creation script is:
create table tna (
idtna int not null constraint idtna primary key,
idperson int,
empnumb char(30),
surname char(50),
forenames char(50),
company char(30),
dept char(30),
area char(30),
location char(50),
dob DATE,
trade char(75),
shift char(75),
target char(75),
status char(50),
tcost NUMBER(9,2),
approved int,
attained DATE,
provider char(75),
identified char(100),
reassess DATE,
user_ char(20),
createdate DATE,
amenddate DATE,
site_code char(30),
idgenrisk int,
person_site_code char(30),
req_by DATE);
Can anyone see where I'm going wrong?

Try that in sqlplus, and you get this result:
create table tna (  2  idtna int not null constraint idtna primar
  3  idperson int,
  4  empnumb char(30),
  5  surname char(50),
  6  forenames char(50),
  7  company char(30),
  8  dept char(30),
  9  area char(30),
10  location char(50),
11  dob DATE,
12  trade char(75),
13  shift char(75),
14  target char(75),
15  status char(50),
16  tcost NUMBER(9,2),
17  approved int,
18  attained DATE,
19  provider char(75),
20  identified char(100),
21  reassess DATE,
22  user_ char(20),
23  createdate DATE,
24  amenddate DATE,
25  site_code char(30),
26  idgenrisk int,
27  person_site_code char(30),
28  req_by DATE);
identified char(100),
ERROR at line 20:

  • Error creating table on MS SQL Server with OC4J standalone

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to deploy an EJB application to OC4J standalone using a MS SQL Server 2000 database, MS SQL Server JDBC Drivers and OC4J 9.0.3 standalone but i keep getting this error:
    Auto-creating table: create table Functieprofiel_competentieNiveau_CompetentieNiveau_functieprofiel_LBOS_Ear_LBOS_Ejb (Functieprofiel_FUNCTIE_ID bigint identity not null, COMP_ID bigint identity null, NIVEAU_ID sql_variant(255) null)

    Deployment succeeds after this but the application does not run properly. Can anyone help me with this? I have no idea what to do.

    if you want to stop the auto-creation of tables, try going to the j2ee/home/config directory of your OC4J installation. Open the application.xml file and modify the attribute autocreate-tables to be set to false.
    That should stop the default table creation as a global property, unless you specifically override it at the specific deployed application level.
    You can then manually create the tables on the sql-server database instance. If you keep the column names the same as the field names in the bean, then you shouldn't need to do any manual mapping. To be sure of the column names to use, take a look in the orion-ejb-jar.xml which gets generated in the j2ee/home/application-deployments/<app-name>/<ejb-module-name> to see what table/column names the generator defaulted to

  • ERROR creating table with dynamic SQL :-(

    Hi friends,
    I have a problem when I try to create a table using dynamic SQL.
    (Env.: Forms 6i, WinXP, Oracle 9i)
    I only want to create a table, insert data and drop the table.
    I have a user with the correct privileges (At least ....I think so), because I can to make the three actions in SQL*PLUS (CREATE TABLE, INSERT .. and DROP TABLE).
    I want to do the same in Forms using dynamic SQL...
    I've made a package with 3 procedures:
    1st to create the table, 2nd to insert data , 3rd to drop the table.
    Only the 1st fails with the error ORA-01031 (insufficient privileges).
    Here it is:
    PROCEDURE PRO_DM_CreaTabla(pe_nombre_tabla VARCHAR2) IS
    id_cursor INTEGER;
    ls_sentencia VARCHAR2(500);
    v_dummy integer;
    BEGIN
    id_cursor := DBMS_SQL.OPEN_CURSOR;
    ls_sentencia := 'CREATE TABLE '||pe_nombre_tabla||' ( campo1 VARCHAR2(100), campo2 VARCHAR2(100), campo3 VARCHAR2(100),campo4 VARCHAR2(100))';
    DBMS_SQL.PARSE(id_cursor, ls_sentencia, dbms_sql.NATIVE);
    v_dummy := dbms_sql.execute(id_cursor);
    DBMS_SQL.CLOSE_CURSOR(id_cursor);
    END;
    The DROP_table procedure is exactly the same as this (with the difference of the 'CREATE' sentence, where I have a DROP sentence)... then.. why the DROP procedure works?... and.. why this CREATE procedure doesn't work?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot.

    Since the syntax is correct, my guess is you do not have CREATE TABLE system privilege granted directly to your account. A common scenario is that you have this privilege granted indirectly via a role, allowing you to create tables on the command line, but stored PL/SQL is stricter and requires a direct grant and therefore the procedure fails with 'insufficient privileges'.A bit like he's already been told on his first thread...
    Using of Execute Immediate in Oracle PLSQL
    Generally you would not create tables from stored PL/SQL. Also as you have found out, it's best not to hide exceptions with 'WHEN OTHERS THEN [some message which gives less detail than the one generated by Oracle]'.Again like he was told on the other thread.
    There's just no telling some people eh! :)

  • Help! 10g logical standby not replicating "create table" on standby

    Hi,
    I'm setting up a logical standby environment and everything works, except when I tried to create a simple table on the primary, the table doesn't show up on the standby. I tried creating a new tablespace on the primary and it shows up right away on the standby. I checked the error logs on both primary and standby and no errors.
    create table test1 (id number(10) primary key, col1 varchar(20), col2 varchar(20));
    The table is created successfully on primary and I also inserted couple of rows and all committed.
    I even tried the following query on the standby to check any failed events and the "create table" DDL doesn't show up , even if it failed:
    select event_time, status, event from dba_logstdby_events order by event_timestamp, commit_scn
    So I'm now confused. The logical standby is active and applying. What would be the issue? How do I find out ?
    Thanks

    had you started apply using this syntax
    real time apply
    alter database start logical standby apply immediate;
    check lag:
    alter session set nls_date_format='dd/mm hh24:mi';

  • Problem auto-creating tables with the IBFBS sample

    Hello,
    I'm fairly new to JDeveloper and OC4J and am trying to configure the new Financial Brokerage Service (IBFBS) sample to run on my system. I followed all of the setup instructions but have had problems getting the application to work. I've worked through a few issues, but I'm stuck on this one. When deploying/running the application to the JDev embedded OC4J an error occurs when trying to auto-create the tables for some of the EJBs. The error messages are all similar to this:
    "Auto-creating table: create table UserAccount_file:_M:_Ja_rfpkl9 (accountNumber NUMBER not null primary key, password VARCHAR2(255) null, firstName VARCHAR2(255) null, lastName VARCHAR2(255) null, organization VARCHAR2(255) null, address VARCHAR2(255) null, city VARCHAR2(255) null, state VARCHAR2(255) null, country VARCHAR2(255) null, phone VARCHAR2(255) null, accountBalance FLOAT null, email VARCHAR2(255) null, userType VARCHAR2(255) null, linesPerPage NUMBER null, alertMode VARCHAR2(255) null, mobileEmail VARCHAR2(255) null)

    The app fails to start with an Ora message "Table or view does not exist"
    I think it's due to the colons in the table name, but how do I change the name of the table it's trying to create?
    I'm running JDeveloper 9.0.3 preview and 9.2.0.1.0 (patchset 1 applied) database all locally on a Windows XP SP1 machine.
    Any help appreciated.
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
    Firstly, regret for the late response.
    I guess what you are trying to do is run the Sample from JDeveloper itself. But this cannot be done, you have to deploy the
    sample to the embedded OC4J(<JDEV_HOME>/j2ee/home) bundled with JDev and run the sample from embedded OC4J.
    Refer to http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tutorials/fbs/over/setup.htm and follow the steps to deploy to OC4J.
    Curious to know if you were able to run it.
    Regards
    Elango.

    Hi David,
    The "autocreate-tables" attribute is defined in the DTD for the "orion-application.xml" file. This file is usually generated automatically by OC4J, from your application's "application.xml" file when you deploy your application. (Note that subsequent [re-]deployments of your application will not change the "orion-application.xml" file.)
    The default value for this attribute is 'true', and the default is defined in the "application.xml" file that is located in the "j2ee/home/config" subdirectory of the OC4J installation.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Logical error in creating tables using db link in solaris

    Hi,
    While creating table using the syntax create table newtab...as select * from tab@dblink .. I am facing a problem. The newtab table created is having a structure different (from datalength point of view of varchar2 and char datatypes) from the source. The data length is getting tripled i.e. if a column a is varchar2(20) in tab then it is becoming --- a varchar2(60) in newtab. This is happening in solaris environment when the two databases are in 2 different servers. Please let me know if there are any patches to resolve the problem.
    Thanks
    Arnab

    ORA-02019: connection description for remote database not foundHave you used this database link successfully for some other queries?
    The error posted seems to indicate that the DB Link is not functional at all. Has it worked for any other type of DML operation or is this the first time you ever tried to use the link?

  • Error while creating table maintenance generator

    Hi,
    I am getting below error while creating table maintenance generator.
    Screen SAPLZtest   0002 could not be generated.   In DYNPFIELD_ATTR field LENGTH has the invalid value 241.
    Reason for that error might be:
    In the table I have a field with a dataelement(customized) of type Char and length 241.
    But in the other table Iam using the standard data element(standard) of same type(241 char).In this table Iam able to create table maintenance generator without any errors.
    And the domain Iam using is same for both the tables.
    Please help me to solve this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sravanthi

    We have 2 clients connected from source system to our Test BI box.strange thing is we got one source system activated without any errors and for second
    source system we are getting above mentioned error.
    We have reviewed notes 339957 , 493422 but our BI fuctional team is not sure whether
    those apply to our OLTP system , as one source system from same OLTP system got
