Error Creating Triggers in Oracle 10g R2 via Eclipse 3.5

I have the latest OEPE 11g R1 Patch Set installed in Eclipse Galileo. Running the following SQL statement works fine from the iSQLPlus web interface, but it creates an INVALID trigger in the database when running from the Eclipse itself (see error below):
SQL

     SET A.SUBSCRIPTION_STATUS_ID = 3
     WHERE :newRow.person2program_key = A.person2program_key;
END IF;
END AMG_OPTOUT_MARK_UNSUBSCRIBED;

Is this an error with the OEPE pack itself? Do I need to file a bug or does anyone know a way to solve this.

  • Error Creating Database on Oracle 10g Release 2

    I'm having a problem creating a second database on 10g release 2 on Windows server 2003.
    I have created an initialization parameter file on %Oracle_Home%\database\initDB2.ora
    However, whenever I try to run sql command to create a database with the same name as the db_name parameter in the initialization parameter, it gives an error database name 'DB2' does nto matchthe parameter db_name = dbase
    dbase is the first database that was created automatically when I installed Oracle.
    Any solutions? Why is the server not using the parameter file I have created? Why does it seem to use the initialization parameter file that belongs to the first database?
    Cheers

    'startup nomount' with 'pfile=...initDB2.ora' clause? In this case Oracle chooses a server parameter file (spfile) by default and I still assume ORACLE_SID is set to your first database. So automatically spfile from the first database is used. You should try:
    set ORACLE_SID=DB2
    (now in sqlplus) startup nomount pfile=%ORACLE_HOME$\database\initDB2.ora

    The problem is given randomly when running the VB program, instead if run the same statement in sqlplus it works fine.

  • ORA-03106  Error when connecting to Oracle 10g from Forms 6i

    I have migrated my database from Oracle 8.0.5 to Oracle 10g, version 10.0.1.0.3 through import-export utility. During migration, one difference I made was to change the NLS_LANG to UTF8 from ANSI.
    The NLS_LANG for client is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE81S08859P1.
    I am using HP ML370 Proliant Server and running Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS version 3 with Oracle 10g
    My client-server application is based on Oracle Developer version 2.1. I am using forms 5.0 and reports 3.0 only.
    The problem with me is that the client-server application is working against the upgraded database, but with greatly downgraded speed. The .fmb files cannot be compiled, however some of the .rdf files are compiled successfully, but remaining not.
    My question is that is Developer 2000 (Forms 5.0.6 and Reports 3.0.5) compatable with Oracle 10 database, as my application is running very slow ?
    I tried Forms 6i to remove this problem. I used Forms Developer 6i Recut version and successfully installed on Windows XP, however, when try to create connection using Net 8 Easy Utility, the connection does not establish with following error:
    ORA-03106 : fatal two-task communication protocol error
    The entry has been checked in tnsnames.ora and is found correct. I also tried connecting through SQL, but the application closes.
    The patch set 17 for installation on Windows XP has also been applied, but still the same error persits.
    The same installation has also been checked on Windows 2000, but the same problem persists.
    I would be thankful if any one provide me solution for the same. Where I am mistaken and what do I do to get out of this problem.
    Regards
    Naveen.

    Naveen,
    Forms 5.0 is not certified and not tested with Oracle DB 10g because it was desupported before 10g got released.
    The other problem is hard to give a generic answer for and I suggest to address this to metalink.oracle.com

  • Error creating repository in oracle 9i (9.2.0.1) database

    Hi I am trying to migrate a SQL Server 2000 database to oracle 9i using SQL Developer 1.5.5 and i am getting an error during the repository creation phase. I keep on having the same error:
    SQL Error on Script Execution
    Try deleting the repository before creating repository.
    And the following when i click on ok:
    The repository installation has failed. Please check the user you are registering and make sure that objects of the same name do not already exist.
    I have checked the database and both my users and temp tablespaces have more than enough space - so it is definitely not a space issue. Here are the roles and privileges that i give to the migrations user upon its creation (same from the docs):
    CREATE USER migrations_user IDENTIFIED BY migrations_user DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
    GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE, CREATE VIEW, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO migrations_user WITH ADMIN OPTION;
    GRANT ALTER ANY ROLE, ALTER ANY SEQUENCE, ALTER ANY TABLE, ALTER TABLESPACE,
    ALTER ANY TRIGGER, COMMENT ANY TABLE, CREATE ANY SEQUENCE, CREATE ANY TABLE,
    CREATE ANY TRIGGER, CREATE ROLE, CREATE TABLESPACE, CREATE USER, DROP ANY SEQUENCE,
    DROP ANY TABLE, DROP ANY TRIGGER, DROP TABLESPACE, DROP USER, DROP ANY ROLE,
    GRANT ANY ROLE, INSERT ANY TABLE, SELECT ANY TABLE, UPDATE ANY TABLE TO migrations_user;
    Has anybody encountered this problem before and resolved it?
    Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    I also tried creating the repository in a 10g database and did the migration successfully to the 9i database. However, I found out later that the created sqlserver_utilities package was invalid because it made reference to DBMS_DB_VERSION package which was non existent in the 9i database.
    Thanks

    Hi Nyanga,
    The migration tools can be used to migrate to Oracle 9i.
    But we try and keep the conversion compatible with Oracle XE / Oracle 10g and up.
    So you may have issues migrating to Oracle 9i like you said, with he sqlserver_utilities package and using 10g syntax.
    Creating the repository on Oracle 9i is not supported.
    But even if you did succeed , it would not change how the conversion was done. You would still end up with an identical sqlserver_utilities package which was generated using the migration repository on an Oracle 10g database. sqlserver_utilities package definition itself is fixed within a file so regardless of the repository used the same one will be generated.
    Oracle XE can be used of course as the repository and its free to download and use.

    Dermot.

  • Not able to create partitions using Oracle 10g express edition

    Hello Everyone,
    I downloaded Oracle 10g express edition as the documentation for the same says that it supports partitioning of the table.
    But when I try to run a command like
    CREATE TABLE sales_range
    (salesman_id NUMBER(5),
    salesman_name VARCHAR2(30),
    sales_amount NUMBER(10),
    sales_date DATE)
    PARTITION BY RANGE(sales_date)
    PARTITION sales_jan2000 VALUES LESS THAN(TO_DATE('02/01/2000','DD/MM/YYYY')),
    PARTITION sales_feb2000 VALUES LESS THAN(TO_DATE('03/01/2000','DD/MM/YYYY')),
    PARTITION sales_mar2000 VALUES LESS THAN(TO_DATE('04/01/2000','DD/MM/YYYY')),
    PARTITION sales_apr2000 VALUES LESS THAN(TO_DATE('05/01/2000','DD/MM/YYYY'))
    I get the following error
    "ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Partitioning"
    Please let me know what is causing the issue/error and how to resolve it.
    Thanks.

    Where did you read that the express edition supports partitioning? I would strongly suspect that there was an error in the documentation-- partitioning is an extra cost option on top of an enterprise edition database. Perhaps you are confusing the personal edition (which does support partitioning) with the express edition?

  • Create tablespace in Oracle 10g Express

    Hi,
    I've been playing around over the last few days with Oracle 10g Express and I need to create my own tablespace and therefore create user associated with my custom table space.
    I tried with the command create tablespace, but I am not successful with configuring the parameters such as the datafile location and such. I did go through the Oracle Concepts Guide which was very helpful, but I must be missing something.
    Also assuming that my db scheme will be part of my application and therefore released to my client as script so they can re-create my database how would the table space integration work on their end.
    I would I have to place my first line of the script to create the table space and ask them for database file location?
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you.How about checking with the fine SQL Reference manual for the syntax of the CREATE TABLESPACE command?
    Learning where to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to tahiti.oracle.com. Drill down to your product and version.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab you will find the complete documentation library.
    Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what kind of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
    Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what kind of information is available there.
    Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
    Do the same with the Utilities manual.
    You don't have to read the above in depth. They are reference manuals. Just get familiar with what is there to be referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
    Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • Editable views with instead of triggers in Oracle 10G

    Hi,
    We are attempting to migrate our database application from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10G. We have found that we are getting the error [ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel] when we attempt to insert multiple rows into database tables using editable views equipped with INSTEAD OF triggers. When inserting multiple rows, we are using a single insert statement of the form insert into...select from. Strangely enough, when the select query within the insert statement returns a single row, the insert statement is successful. We also noticed that if we issue a commit right before executing the insert statement, the insert statement is successful regardless of the number of rows being inserted. But this is not a viable workaround as the current transaction contents needs to be maintained. We did not have these issues in Oracle 9i. Does Oracle 10G have any known issues with editable views equipped with INSTEAD OF triggers? Are there any settings in the INIT.ORA file that can resolve these issues? Thanks for your help.

    Confirmed. If you use 2D input, or change the Z dimensions so they are different, you will get the results you expect in 10g. Otherwise - a line.
    I'm not sure why, and can't see a bug report on that in support, but obviously it was recognized and fixed as you indicate.
    Try it with 2D input, and it will work:
    select sdo_aggr_mbr(
    SDO_GEOMETRY(2003, NULL, NULL, SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1003, 3),
    SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(-10, -10, 10, 10))
    from dual;
    Or with different Z values:
    select sdo_aggr_mbr(
    SDO_GEOMETRY(3003, NULL, NULL, SDO_ELEM_INFO_ARRAY(1, 1003, 3),
    SDO_ORDINATE_ARRAY(-10, -10, 1, 10, 10, 11))

    The code is thus:

    Statement statement = connection.createStatement();
    ResultSet resultSet = statement.executeQuery

    "\t" + resultSet.getString("FIRST_NAME")+

    http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/JDBC
    Which is wrong. oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver is the driver name, oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver is an old and deprecated name for the driver. More likely the Oracle JDBC driver is not in the classpath of the application.
    BTW: If you use recent versions of Oracle JDBC on Java 6 you don't need to explicitly load the driver as per the JDBC 4 specification (see 2nd note on http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14072_01/java.112/e10589/getsta.htm#i1005373 )
