Error editing Discoverer Portlet 'Edit Defaults'

Hello,
I am trying to edit my discoverer portlet to change the refresh options. However, whenever I click the edit default link, the following error message shows up on the page:
The current user does not own this instance. Only the owner can Edit Defaults for this portlet. Please contact the portlet owner
This happens even though I log in as the portal admin user.
Any ideas?

Did you find a solution to the problem? I am encountering the same problem. If the discoverer portlet is created by somebody else then I am unable to edit the defaults.

  • Edit defaults page in portlet

I have implemented an edit defaults page for a portlet and use the personalization data class and the FilePreferenceStore to save the system level default settings for the portlet. All works well except that when I refresh the portlet's provider, I lose the system level default settings. Does anyone know if it is possible for the default settings to be retained even after the provider is refreshed?

    Scott,
    it's a common pb.
you must create, at least, one default public connection by using oem (port 1810). (click discoverer, then discoverer services configuration etc.)

  • PL/SQL Portlet with edit defaults. HOW ???

    Hi !
I created a pl/sql portlet that renders html. Now I want a customization option on the "Edit Defaults" page of the portlet. How do I do this ??
In the code of the portlet I set "l_portlet.has_show_edit_defaults" to true. So the Edit Defaults page is show, but it's empty.
On that page I want a variable where you can choose between 3 options. In the procedure where I render the html, I want to read this variable so I can render 3 different things.
Can someone please help me ?

I suggest you look at the database services provider in the PDK which is an example provider showing how to do the basic things within a provider/portlet - like customise and edit defaults.
You could also generate a provider using the pl/sql generator - that will produce code that you can use as a starting point for your development.
Basically you have to add code to the show procedure of the portlet to render a different page if the mode is 'MODE_SHOW_EDIT_DEFAULTS'. Look in the samples - it should be clear.
    Hope this helps.

  • PDK Java Portlet looses edit default values everytime I redeploy EAR

    Hello All,
I have a PDK Java portlet (Portal - Oracle 10g). It works as expected perfectly till I redeploy my EAR. As soon as I redeploy EAR, it looses the settings that user had set using edit defaults link. Is there anyway to prevent this? Application runs on OC4J server.
I urgently need solution to this problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kinnaree

Just to be sure, you are registering the PDK producer with a WebCenter portal?
Or are you just using the PDK provider in an oracle portal environment and you don't use webcenter?
If you are using webcenter, can you also test this behavior in Oracle portal? Do you also loose the values in oracle portal or is it just in webcenter? This way we can see if it's a webcenter or portlet issue.
If you loose the values on both the oracle portal and webcenter side, than it has something to do with the portlet. If they are working correctly in oracle portal, than it might be a bug in the PDK bridge in Webcenter.

  • URGENT! Where is IMAP portlet "Edit Defaults" link????

    Hi all,
I've deployed PDK(January). Registered the imap portlet to portal and add a portlet to a newly created page.
It iis written in documentation that there is a "Edit Defaults" page to enter server information (other than customization link to enter username/password info). But I could not find how to navigate to tha "Edit Default Page".
    Any comments,
    Thanks in advance,
    Yeliz

    Hi.
To get to the Edit Defaults page, click on the "Edit" link on your page. This will open a new page. On this page, just above your portlet there will be a button called "Actions". This will show you a page with the heading "Select Action". On this page, select the "Edit Defaults" radio button and click on OK. The page which opens is the Edit Defaults page.
Please note, the method I have described above holds true for most portal 9.0.2 versions. It might vary for certain portal 9.0.2 versions.
    Thanks,
    Ashish.

  • Portlets: Edit Defaults

    Hi!
I imported my portlets from 3.0.9 into the new one and all went fine, but the Edit Defaults Option does not work anymore :(
I tried to find new Guidelines to handle "Edit Defaults" but I failed ...
So does anyone share this problem with me ??

    Hi,
Is the portal version you imported the same to is also 309 ??
By any chance have you applied any patches on the 309 Build you have ??
    Thanks,

  • Discoverer Portlet Provider Error

Good day. I would like to seek anyone's assitance with the errors encountered below when trying to manipulate Discoverer Portlet Provider through Oracle Portal:
    1. While trying to view Discoverer Portlet Workbook or Worksheet:
"The portlet has not been defined. The publisher must define the portlet by clicking on Edit Defaults for the portlet on the edit mode of this page. Please contact the publisher of this page."
    2. While trying to delete Discoverer Portlet Provider:
"The page cannot be displayed" error from Internet Explorer.
    3. While trying to deregister Discoverer Portlet Provider:
"The provider could not be contacted, do you still want to delete provider "DISCO_DATAMART_PROVIDER"?
The provider could not be contacted and its deregistration function was not initiated. Deleting the provider will remove it from the portal. Additional action may be necessary by the provider to remedy the failure to call its deregistration function."
    Here's our infrastructure versions:
    Portal version 9.0.2.2.22
    Discoverer Version Release 2 (9.0.2.53)
Previously, the highest release of patchset was installed in our machine but I've reverted it back to a lower patchset on both cases, same error was encountered for the above-mentioned.
We've successfully registered discoverer portletprovider and created a public connection via "General Discoverer" in OEM. And Discoverer Viewer / Plus are working properly.
I think this problem has been posted in metalink and some other sites but no definite answer yet (as far as I've read).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

It seems wherever section I post this I can't get any solution. I was instructed by someone in this forum to post this in the discoverer section. Up to now, no replies yet. I already raised a TAR for this and still no answer. I've researched through metalink and so many of us have this problem. Attention Oracle, we really need your assistance for this product of yours. Please help us out.

  • Edit defaults mode , Preferences for all users.

    Hi,
Iam working on an portlet app as part of it am planning to make the portlet application as jsr 168 compliant.
I have few questions regarding the jsr 168 stuff.
    a) what versions of Bea portal do support the jsr 168 portlets it is it available for download todo some investigation.
    b) This is an question related to preferences - For example Suppose user "A" publshes the portlet and another logged in user views the portlet he should see the same set of preferences or the defaults set by the user "A" . Some portals like Oracle portal achieve this by supporting a mode called Edit Defaults mode. How do i achieve this in a Portal which doesn't support edit defaults but it is JSR compliant. In other words the prefences set by the user "A" should be available to user "B" , how does i achieve this functionality in other portals. Note Edit defaults mode is an custom mode supported by the JSR 168 API it is not a mandatory mode like the Edit, View or Help .
    Thanks in Advance.

  • How can I make Edit/Default Customization form with Java ?

In previous portal relise developers have simple way to rendering Edit/Default Customization form:
    <% PortletRendererUtil.renderCustomizeFormHeader(portletRequest, out, null, "services_action", null, null); %>
    <TABLE BORDER="0" CELLPADDING="0" CELLSPACING="2">
    <TR>
    <TD>Days</TD>
    <TD><INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="services_days" VALUE="<%= days %>" SIZE="10"/></TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD>Rows</TD>
    <TD><INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="services_rows" VALUE="<%= rows %>" SIZE="10"/></TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>
    <% PortletRendererUtil.renderCustomizeFormFooter(portletRequest, out); %>
In current portal version I can not find these methods, these methods not exists in JavaDoc and in jar's. And all old code do not works!!! Why?
I must hide portlet borders and use <renderContainer>false</renderContainer> in provider.xml. Then portal do not render Edit/Default Customization form in Edit/Default mode. In previous relise I can make this form with Java code.
My question: how I can get Edit/Default Customization form in Edit/Default mode with Java code?
    Thanks in advance

Hi George, the trick is to figure out which browser is your default now, and remove that designation using the Android settings for Apps. It might be Chrome or it might be something Samsung provides.
This article has more information: [[Make Firefox the default browser on Android]].
    Does it work?

  • Re: BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns

    Hello Everyone.
I've run into something quite strange and am hoping you can help me.
I am using Apex 4.0.1 and Oracle version 10.2.0.5. I've created a "classical" report in which the underlying SQL is a very simple:
select * from pvtabThe Oracle table pvtab consists of 419 columns, all of which are varchar2(88) and number type. That's it.
When I run the report, al of the columns show up as expected.
However, when I go into the "Report Attributes" tab and click on one of the fields (any of them, it doesn't matter which one), I immediately get the following error:
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "598CAA7B68746A66F4B99E1512C36DED" application checksum = "0"If if replace the "*" with a few actual column names, then I am able to access any of these columns without problem.
If I put back the "*", I then encounter this error again.
I have never seen this error with other SQL SELECT statements in which I use the "*" qualifier to retrieve all columns from the table.
And so, I am wondering if the error is caused because of the large number of columns (419) in my table.
I've seen this same error mentioned in connection with forms but never with a report.
So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?
Any idea why I would be getting this error?
Here is the DDL for my table pvtab:
    CREATE TABLE  "PVTAB"

So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?Yes. See Oracle® Application Express Application Builder User's Guide Release 4.0, Appendix B: Oracle Application Express Limits.
Any idea why I would be getting this error? No, but I've replicated it in APEX 4.0.2.00.07 on 11.2.0.1.0 EE using a table of 420 <tt>varchar2(88)</tt> columns:
    >
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "50C9BDC0AA1AEF0EB272E9158B2117B4" application checksum = "0"
    >
Happens whether using <tt>select *</tt> or including all column names in the query. (I know you don't want to type all the column names, but I'd never use <tt>select *</tt> in a production application: always use a proper column list. You can get one without typing by drag-and-drop of a table in most IDEs, or a query from <tt>user_tab_columns</tt>.)
I hit the problem at 274 columns. Such an arbitrary number leads me to think that the problem is not one of the number of columns per se, but is due to some other limit (possibly a 32K VARCHAR2/RAW buffer somewhere).
    Workaround:
Updates to the report column attributes are actually being saved, and you can navigate them using the Page Definition tree view as described in Appendix B.
    Getting More Help:
This is probably a bug. If you have a support agreement with Oracle raise an SR with Oracle Support.
    Also:
<li>Search the forum using the "ORA-20503" code and other possible terms to see if there's anything relevant. I had a quick look but the only thread in this context recommended an upgrade on an Oracle 9 DB version that's not compatible with APEX 4.0.
<li>To get the attention of the Oracle APEX team or anyone else who may know more about this problem than we do, edit your original post and change the Subject to be more specific about the actual nature of the problem: <em>BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns</em>, and include your database version/edition and the definition of the <tt>PVTAB</tt> table.
    Finally:
Somebody's bound to ask, so we might as well get started:
    <li>Why so many columns?
<li>What requirement is this trying to fulfil?

  • Error editing task sequence: Failed to load dynamic properties for class "SMS_TaskSequence_ApplyWindowsSettingsAction" From XML into WMI

I've started getting an intermittent error editing my Windows 7 OSD task sequence.  Sometimes I can open the TS to edit, but when I try to apply changes I get the error.  Other times I get the error when trying to open the TS.  If I try again
right away, I still get the error, but if I wait a few minutes and try again sometimes it will open the TS.
    The error reads:
    ConfigMgr Error Object:instance of SMS_Extended Status{Description = "Failed to load dynamic properties for class \"SMS_TaskSequence_ApplyWindowsSettingsAction\" from XML into WMI";Error Code = 2147943746;File = "e:\\qfe\\nts\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\ssptspackage.cpp";Line = 3454;Operation = "ExecMethod";ParameterInfo = "SMS_TaskSequencePackage";ProviderName = "WinMgmt";StatusCode = 2147749889;}
Coinciding with this error, I show the following entries in the TaskSequenceProvider.log file:

I exported the task sequence and checked in "object.xml" for the "ApplyWindowsSettingsAction", to see if there was something odd in the xml, but I don't find anything that jumps out as being wrong.  Here's the section of XML for
that step.  I've removed identifying info, and replaced it with a generic term in bold.

Is there any other log I should check for a clue on this issue?  What could be causing this error?

Thanks for sharing that!  I tend to save contacting MS support until after I've exhausted other options.  I'm always afraid that I'll spend the $500 to open a case and then it turns out to be something simple that I would have found if I had just
kept working on it myself a little longer.
It looks like that link is for an update released in February as KB3023562.  I downloaded and installed it. I'll try opening/editing/saving the task sequence a few times today to see if the issue is resolved.
After I had already installed it, I thought to look up that update in configmgr.  The update is listed as superseded by 2 other updates.  The newest of those is KB3046049, which just installed last night with the other March patches, so it's possible
that I didn't need to install KB3023562 after all.

    Greetings, welcome to the Forums.
There's lots of detail you left out...
There is no OS 4.3 for the 8800 model. So, what model BlackBerry do you have, found at Options > About?
What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.5.0.x.xxx", What is yours?
What screencapture application are you using?

I had a similar problem, first I made sure my discover connections worked by connecting to discover through IAS. Then when I registered the discoverer in portal, it timed out the first couple of times. I then refreshed the browser window a couple of times and it worked.
