Error filename measurement file

Hi.
In my project, I have used the Read Measurement File function to read .tdms file. When I run the program on another folder or another PC, then select Open file name an error occurred, error window appears. Although it did not do wrong program operation but It is very uncomfortable. So I hope how could this error window does not appear?
Thanks.

Thanks for your answer - Proven Zealot.
I deleted all the Start Path and Filename. Now only the first Browser to open filename new error window appeared and notice that "Location is not available" - Access is denied. Then open filename next time isn't fail again. Error only appear once - the first read.

  • Labview 9.0: Error 1 occurred at Write To Measurement File

    Hi
Our University recently got the latest version of Labview (9.0 32-bit) which I installed today. The labview file I am using (my6008v6.vi)  used to work fine with the older version (8.5 i think). My write-to-file VI is enabled at certain time intervals in order to log data. As soon as it is enabled for the second time I get the following error:
Error 1 occurred at Write To Measurement File->Copy of murray6008v6.vi
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  An input parameter is invalid. For example if the input is a path, the path might contain a character not allowed by the OS such as ? or @.
    =========================
NI-488:  Command requires GPIB Controller to be Controller-In-Charge.
I made a simple file (simplew2f.vi) to test this, with a button which I can press to enable/disable the writing of data. I am able to start writing data and then stop writing data but as soon as I try resume the writing the same error occurs.
This confuses me greatly since this wasn't a problem using the old version and my Labview knowledge is minimal. Any help would be appreciated.

So, which VI are you having problems with?  Sounds like both...
Okay... - sigh - where to start....
Well..  Let's start with a few comments.
    1.  Try to stay away from the Express VI.  I know the Marketing guys at NI will not like me for saying so, but I am saying so.  They are a nice marketing feature that Grumpy Old Men like myself do not like.   They make it easy to write quick code..  And I will limit my comments to that.  (It's not your fault.. )
    2.  The wiring on your diagram is not clear or easy to read.  Yes, with additional time and double-clicking each wire I can tell where they are going.  However, a rule of thumb, alway wire from Left to Right.  Never right to left.  And do not run the wires under objects, even the ones you are wiring to.
    3.  simplew2f.vi:  You should put a small delay in the While Loop.  I ran it three times and it wrote to the files without error.  And yes, I used LV2009.
    4.  my6008v6.vi:  Avoid wiring from the top of the While Loop.  At frist, it looked like the data was coming out of the While Loop because the wires went to the left side of all the index node of the Index Array function.
You should set your Browse Option for the file path to "Files or Folders" and "New or existing".  I did that and I was not getting the error message you described.

  • Configuration "use next available filename" in "write measurement file" function

My project recording signal and saving using "Write to Measurement File" function. I want to perform record multiple segments signals should have configured option "use next available filename". For example, if the original file is data.tdms then it will save the file into: data_1.tdms, data_2.tdms, data_3.tdms, ...
To do that I use a button control enable and disable write functionality.
In the past I have done normally. Now, I can not make it anymore, now every write new data were add into one file created without the next new file as desired, it has almost become a option "Append to file".
    I use LabVIEW 2013

    Hello ducta9,
It looks like you currently have the Write to Measurement File Express VI configured to "save to one file" - this means that all data from a given session will be saved to the same file.  The file number will only be incremented once the application is restarted or the Reset Boolean input is set to True.  If you want to save to a series of files, select the "save to a series of files" option and configure the Express VI as needed to generate new files at intervals.
If you want to write variable-size chunks of data to a new file every time the user clicks the Enable button, you might be able to get away with just wiring a True constant to the Reset.  I would still recommend taking a look at the options available in the save to a series of files settings.

  • Error trying to write to a measurement file and then send via gmail.vi

So as the title says, I have a VI which is writing to a tdms file, and I want to send the file by gmail once the program has completed it's run. I downloaded gmail.vi and am integrating it into my existing code. Both my original code and the gmail VI work fine on their own, but when I try to have the combined VI send the data file by email, I get the error message that I've attached.
Basically, it seems like the .tdms data file is in use by the measurement code, and I need to know how to free it up so that the gmail code can attach and send it.
I've attached the main code as well as my modified gmail VI, so hopefully someone can take a look at tell me what I'm missing.
    Any help is much appreciate!

While I can't view all of your code because it is missing several SubVIs, I have a good idea of what you are trying to do. I believe the culprit is the "Write to measurement file" express VI. Near as I can tell the original reference to the TDMS file is being held open inside the express VI. Here's a good general rule for using Express VI's: when you see them, RUN THE OTHER WAY! I say because there is almost always a significant amount of code in there that is unnecessary, In this case, you simply need the Open TDMS file, Write to TDMS, Close file functions; you do not need all of the extra code that is in the express VI's.
<edit> P.S. I hope the username/password in Email alert.vi is a placeholder otherwise you just gave every idiot with access to LabVIEW your username and password to the account.

    Hi Charlotte,
You don't say what your version of Windows you have. Assuming XP, go to Start | Run, type DXDIAG and click OK. Click the Sound tab and run the tests to eliminate a hardware problem first of all. If you don't hear anything, check your cables first of all. Also make sure "Mute" isn't checkmarked in your sound setup. You'll find that in Windows Control Panel.
Which browser do you use? If you have Firefox 4, sign up to the HTML5 trial @ http://www.youtube.com/html5
HTML5 is the latest video standard and doesn't require Flash player. Google is in the process of converting all its files to work with the new format. It may solve you problem. If you don't have Firefox 4, you can get it from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
    IE8 doesn't support HTML5.
To clean out your temp files, go to Start | Run, type: CLEANMGR and click OK. Click OK again to start the utility. Tick all the boxes except "Compress old files" because the latter takes too long, and then click OK. You can run this utility any time you wish by the way.
The above steps will hopefully fix your problem. If not, post here again please.

  • Get filename from list of measurement files

    Hi,
I would like to have the user select from a list of measurement files and pass that name and path to the write to measurement file VI.
Ideally, when the data is written to the measurement file the user could add comments.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Joel

    Hi Joel,
maybe your questions a too generic?
To select from a list of files you use the FileDialog (either ExpressVI or plain function) and it will give you a (full) path to the selected file.
To save "comments" with data you can use TDMS file functions which allow to set "properties" for channels of data.
To get more help than that you should better describe your problems and it's always a good idea to attach a VI of your tries to solve them...
Examples are found by the help menu in LabVIEW: simply start the example finder

  • Problem with Write To Measurement File Express VI not writing to file if file was deleted after the first call (7.1)

I'm using the Express Write to LabVIEW Measurement File in LV7.1.
I have it set to "Save to one file"  and have tried both "Overwrite file" and "Using next available file name" for the "If a file already exists" conditions.
The path/filename is passed into the function.
It works fine the first time around.  If the file is deleted before the function is called again, an error occurs since LV is unable to find the file.
I have had to stop and re-run my program in order to write to use the function again.
Since I am able to delete the file I assume it was closed but it seems like LV expects it to be there, even though the function was supposed to create/open/close the file...  Is there any way to reset this without stopping/restarting the program?
Since my application creates several files (only one using the Express VI) I am checking for the filenames and requiring that they be deleted (or a new filename be used) before acquiring data.  Everything has worked great, except for the Express VI.
    Thank you,
    David

Ok, I've edited the VI you posted to reproduce my error (this time with 8.0).
I added a "master stop" and "start log" button.  To demonstrate my problem:
    1.  Run the VI
    2.  Click "START LOGGING" - c:\test.txt is created
    3.  Click "STOP" - c:\test.txt is closed
    4.  Delete the file c:\test.txt with Windows shell or explorer
    5.  Click "START LGGING" - a new c:\test.txt file should be created but instead an error is raised in the Write LabVIEW Measurement File function.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

  • Error of measurement and its propagation

This is merely a hint to developers of LabVIEW:
The "waveform" data accepts some variant additional information that is generally rarely used (e.g. not any graph shows NI_UnitDescription strings).
It would be a good idea to have some sort of "error of measurement" (or "measurement deviation") attached, e.g. as a constant and a multiplier or an additional waveform. This error should be propagated and re-calculated inside addition, multiplication etc. numerical elements, and should be displayed in graphs as a shade of final tolerance (or line width). This will help to estimate the quality of a measurement without much programming efford needed today.

    Hi,
the additional information for the waveform datatype is used for the tdms file format. You can store any information within this datatype to use it again e.g. in Diadem.
May I ask you to post your suggestion here. This is our idea exchange forum where users can post and rate ideas and suggestions for further versions of LabVIEW

I get a red stop button with error message : error while calling up RFC.
when i double click the red stop button, i get no long text but the error message I get is UPC 202
please advice me to resolve this issue.
    many thanks in advance,

The informations are really not much to have an idea about the problem.
The problem can be located in the fm that calls the file because is trying to search the file on a system where there are some kind of problems in the communication between the systems involved to read and pass the file. Did u map the file name with logical filenames ? Very strange problem. Can you browse in the server where the file is located . Is it on your pc ?
Or, there is some problem in the datas provided, but this problem should arise more when you save than when you just press to load.
With this kind of imformations is very hard to have an idea. You need to debug to see what s going on

Sometime you get the error after performing restoring controlfile when you don't have autobackup controlfile on
error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
    why?
Cause When you shutdown the database with using the normal, transactional or immediate options not abort a full checkpoint occurs.A full checkpoint ensures that all of the dirty blocks contained in the buffer cache are written to the data files, the database comes into synchronized state at this time i.e controlfile CKPT SCN=databasefile CKPT.

  • Error 1311, Source file not found, measurementstudio5.cab

I'm installing Measurement Studio for Visual Studio 6.0 and I encounter: Error 1311 Source file not found, measurementstudio5.cab
    Any ideas?

    Hello David,
I am also experiencing an Error 1311, but during the install of LabVIEW 2012 and 2013 (64-Bit).
    Win7 x64, Acer laptop.
    First problem I encounter is:
After putting in my info and agreeing to the licence agreements, the first error pops up says the followign:
    NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2011 SP1:
Error 1310.  Error writing to file: Crogram Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\Plugins\LV2011ActiveXcontrol.dll.  Verify that you have access to that directory.
    Options: Abort/Retry/Ignore
    Things I've tried:
Retry button--never get's past the error.
Uninstalling Internet Explorer and restarting--Still assumes that it's there, and error remains.
Reinstalling updated Internet Explorer and restarting -- no change.
Checking the directory file and verifying that permissions for every user and System is set to full control -- No change.
The only way to get past this error seems to be to press the Ignore button.
A few moments after ignoring the first error, another error pops up.  It says:
    NI Labview Run-Time Engine 2011 SP1:
Error 1311.  Source file not found: C:\Users\[my U/N]\Desktop\National Instruments Downloads\LabVIEW 64-bit\2013\Products\LabVIEWruntime_mft.cab.    Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
    Options: Retry/Cancel
    Things I've tried:
Verifying that the file exists (it does) and that I have access to it (I do) and checking the permissions to verify full control --no changes.
    Retry -- does nothing.
Cacel --aborts the installation and indicates instal failure.
Can you help me with this?  I've installed LV on two other computers and they worked fine, but my laptop simply doesn't want to take the install.
    Thank you in advance,
    Thomas
