Hello Younis,
Please notice that it is impossible to diagnose an issue from a browser error. The internal error (HTTP-500 status code) is also recorded in your log files on the server. Please check the event_log in $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/logs and the error_log in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs for further diagnostic information regarding the internal error.
Thanks,
EJ

Integrate OC4J 10.0.x in Oracle Application Server 10g
Ok, i have a Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise Instance including Infrastructure on a Linux-Server. Its OC4J is a 9.0.4 OC4J following the J2EE 1.3 standard.
So now Oracles offers a newer 10.0.x Developer Betarelease of OC4J wich will be in Production soon and happily enough this release implements J2EE 1.4 with real JAX-RPC Web Service Support (I need Web Services with Attachments!).
My question: How to integrate a 10.0.x-Version of OC4J in an Oracle Application Server 10g Enterprise (v 9.0.x) Installation ??? Whitepapers? Documentations? Internetlinks would help alot !
Thanks and keep the good work alive, oracle rules!!!
bye from germany, marcMarc,
I don't have an answer for you (sorry), but actually, OC4J stand-alone is a complete application server -- unless Oracle have hacked it so much as to intentionally turn it into a not complete application server (it wouldn't surprise me ;-) Perhaps OC4J stand-alone will be sufficient for your requirements?
In case you are unaware, OC4J is derived from the "OrionServer". Unfortunately, their Web site is down temporarily, but these other sites may be enlightening:

Good Luck,

Commit working in embedded OC4J but not in Application Server 10g
Hi all
i am creating an application using Jdeveloper 9051+adf+uix.
here in a form i have a Create,Delete button and a commit button. after creating or deleting a row , i press commit button and it works fine in embedded OC4J.
But after deploying this application on Oracle Application Server 10g , create and delete buttons are working (means data in form is getting submitted) but commit button is not working (commit button is enabled but data is not getting commited in the table.) after pressing the commit button the form is coming back to its previous position and the commit button is yet enabled. if i presses it second time then button goes disabled but data is not commited at all.
Please provide me solution to this problem.
ThanksHi Brenden
Thanks for reply

Can you help me resolve this problem?
Thanks a lot.Hi,
looks like the database connection could not be established. The document contains a step-by-step description of how to ensure that the connect is working after deploying the BC as EJB. You can configure the BC tester to work with the EJB deployment to see if the model works.

How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other
Hi ,
Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
Thank you .It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

Error while deploying an ear file in the Oracle Application Server
Hi,
There was an existing ear deployed in the the oracle application server - 10g. We had to include some customizations so we rebuild the ear file with the new changes and tried redeploying the ear using the EM console. Getting the below error while deploying the same. Any pointers to the same would be helpful.

Embedded License Resource Kit for Oracle Application Server 10g
Hi,
I work for a company and we are an Oracle partner. We would like to deliver our flagship product with Oracle Database and Application Server (10g) embedded.
According to an Oracle press release back in october 2003, Embedded License Resource Kits for Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server are available through the Oracle Partner Network (http://www.oracle.com/corporate/press/2484668.html)
I found a kit for Oracle Database through OPN but was not able to find one for Oracle Application Server 10g.
Does such a kit still exist for Oracle Application Server, and if yes where can I download it?Go to MyOracleSupport/Metalink.
Click patches and Updates on the top left bar. Download the patches.
Each patch comes with its readme.txt. Do read it. It shows you how to install the patch. it also gives syntax with example for various scenarios of how to install it, or remove a patch either. In most of the patches, Installing a patch again does not hurt your system.
It's a good practice to keep db inventory clean before attempting to install the patch because otherwise the patch installation will fail.
hope that helps!

Oracle Application Server 10g Access log
Hi,
I've deployed an Enterprise Application on 10g Oracle Application Server. But the Issue is that I'm unable to access the Application Login Page and the browsers give me the error, that the Page you are trying to access does't exist.
Now I want to diagnose where the actual issue resides and for this; we have to first look at Logs. Kindly tell me where the Oc4J logs or access logs for Application Server are made so that I can check them and try to solve the issue.
Regards,
Kamranhi Kamran
To see access.log or error.log , check the following:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs
tail -f access.log
and to check application log for your oc4j_instance, try the following generic address:
$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/instance_name/application-deployments/application_name/application.log
so if your application name is BI_FORMS then use that above.
hope that helps!

Deleting the Shared library in oc4j instance of Oracle Application Server
Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle Application Server (10.1.3.4.0). I have some system level shared libraries. When i am deploying the application in home instance the application is deploying fine, but when i create an another instance using the default group i am getting two more system level shared libraries that are not present in the home instance. Because of this two shared libraries i am not able to deploy the application.
Is there a way to delete the system level shared libraries. If so provide the related information. If there is any other alternative solution provide me that also. This is very urgent to me. Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thank You,
Ravi kumar.Hi Shail,
i referred the link you have sent it was helpful to me, but the thing is while deleting the shared library apache.webservices it is saying the shared library is in use. When we brought down the Application Server and try to run the removeSharedLibrary command we got other error.
Error: "Failed at "Could not get DeploymentManager".
This is typically the result of an invalid deployer URI format being supplied, the target server not being in a started state or incorrect authentication details being supplied.
Is the way which i have done is correct ?? Please reply me.
Thank You,
Ravi kumar. -
Problem accessing data from Pointbase embedded in the application server
When i try to access any information from a table in the pointbase database thru my jsp file it gives the error :"Invalid table name 'Table-name' specified at position 'position'.
I am using the sun application server installed on the solaris machine and i created new table in the sample database PBPublic schema (a default schema that comes with the embedded pointbase database) and when i try to get data from the table i created i get the specified error.The connection string i use is :
String l_driver = "com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver";
Class.forName(l_driver).newInstance();
// The URL for the sample PointBase database
String l_URL = "jdbc:pointbase:embedded:sample";
// Database UserID
String l_UID = "pbpublic";
// Database Password
String l_PWD = "pbpublic";
// Establish connection with the database and return a Connection object
con = DriverManager.getConnection(l_URL, l_UID, l_PWD);
it connects me to the database but does not fetch results on the query i execute.
can anyone suggest what am i suppose to do for resolving this error.I've never used an embedded db. My connection settings are:
<jdbc-connection-pool connection-validation-method="auto-commit" datasource-classname="com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcDataSource" fail-all-connections="false" idle-timeout-in-seconds="300" is-connection-validation-required="false" is-isolation-level-guaranteed="true" max-pool-size="32" max-wait-time-in-millis="60000" name="jdbc-pointbase-pool" pool-resize-quantity="2" steady-pool-size="8">
<property name="DatabaseName" value="jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost:9092/sample"/>
<property name="Password" value="pbpublic"/>
<property name="User" value="pbpublic"/>
</jdbc-connection-pool>

Error creating connection to Oracle Application Server 10g(10.1.3)
Hey
Im using Oracle JDeveloper 10g and when i tried to create a new connection to Oracle App Server 10.1.3 and test it, I received the following error message
Error while parsing OPMN dump in XML format: XML Parse Exception: tag=[null] Ran out of data, content []
I have no idea what this means and any help on this will be highly appreciated. Thank you
ArjhunOK, in short:
Cause: Wrong OPMN request port used to configure the connection (third step of "Create Application Server Connection" wizard). You might have kept the default (6003) but your OPMN is configured with different request port.
Solution: Check $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file and look for entry like this:
<port local="6140" remote="6240" request="6040" />
Create the connection using OPMN request port that is set in opmn.xml file.
Thanks

How to restrict user access in Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4)?
Can anybody please let me know how to restrict user access in 10g AS? To be specific, how to allow http requests from specific IPs only?
Hi,
You have to edit httpd.conf and modify acces rights for each protected directory
e.g.
<Directory /var/www/sub/payroll/>
Order allow,deny
Allow from 192.168.1.0/24
</Directory>
then you have to restart Oracle HTTP Server

Oracle Application Server 10g Staging - export error - Urgent
Dear All,
I am trying to stage a AS 10g test environment from a production environment in a solaris environment, i am following the following document
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/core.1012/b13995/prodtest.htm
I am at the step 4 b. trying to export the schemas i am getting the following error
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 6550 encountered ORA-06550: line 1, column 41:PLS-00302: component 'SET_NO_OUTLINES' must be declared ORA-06550: line 1, column 15: PL/SQL: Statement ignoredEXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
the reason is that i have two oracle homes one for Oracle 10g database and AS infrastructure database 10g.
The version of my Oracle 10g database is 10.2.0.4.0 and the AS database is 10.1.0.5.0, so when i am invoking the exp its of version 10.2.0.4.0 and as my AS database is of lower version its throwing error.
I am executing the exp from my AS home directory 'PRODUCTION_INFRA_HOME/bin/' i dont know why still the exp is of version 10.2.0.4 and not 10.1.0.5.0, i have even set the ORACLE_HOME to my PRODUCTION_INFRA_HOME for the session, still the error persists,
kindly help as i am unable to proceed any further because of this,
thanks in advance
Edited by: user10243788 on Oct 26, 2009 2:12 AMYes, expected behavior. As per documentation, the query should be executed as database user PORTAL instead of SYS :
To list all the schemas, run the following query from SQL*Plus in the PORTAL schema:
SET LINESIZE 132
SELECT USERNAME, DEFAULT_TABLESPACE, TEMPORARY_TABLESPACE FROM DBA_USERS
WHERE USERNAME IN (user, user||'_PUBLIC', user||'_DEMO', user||'_APP', 'DISCOVERER5')
OR USERNAME IN (SELECT DISTINCT OWNER
FROM WWAPP_APPLICATION$
WHERE NAME != 'WWV_SYSTEM')
ORDER BY USERNAME;
You can of course also change the query to prefix WWAPP_APPLICATION$ with the PORTAL account and execute it as SYS :
SELECT USERNAME, DEFAULT_TABLESPACE, TEMPORARY_TABLESPACE FROM DBA_USERS
WHERE USERNAME IN (user, user||'_PUBLIC', user||'_DEMO', user||'_APP', 'DISCOVERER5')
OR USERNAME IN (SELECT DISTINCT OWNER
FROM PORTAL.WWAPP_APPLICATION$
WHERE NAME != 'WWV_SYSTEM')
ORDER BY USERNAME;
Thanks,
EJ
