Error in creating a directory

Hi,
I'm trying to create directory using sql command in apex. But it is throwing an error as 'Insufficient privileges'
So whom I have to ask for privilege to create a directory?
Thanks,
Anoo..

Good morning Anoo,
You should check with your DBA to make sure that APEX_PUBLIC_USER has create directory rights.

  • Error occurred creating backup directory

I've been using Time Machine with a Time Capsule reliably since March. Now I keep getting failed backup attempts because, "An error occurred while creating the backup directory." Nothing really much has changed except for regular software updates, etc. Any ideas?

Sometimes a software update changes so many files that Time Machine takes a very, very long time going over the changed files. In the past I have had to reformat the partition on the external drive the backups sit in. Lately the updates haven't been monumental. What I DO notice is that when time machine gets buggy with a lot of errors, or simply doesn't perform, it's a corrupt file in one of the backups. What usually fixes that is going to applications--->utilities--->disk utility. Open her up and navigate to the drive you use for backups. Make sure your time machine's backups is turned "off" (find that in your system prefs panel in the time machine pane). Select the disk and repair it. Go back to the time machine prefs and turn time machine back "on". Make sure the correct disk is chosen for backups when you turn it back on.
An example fix with disk utility:
    Verifying volume “TMBackup”
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow file.
    Checking Catalog file.
    Checking multi-linked files.
Incorrect number of file hard links
    Checking Catalog hierarchy.
    Checking Extended Attributes file.

(It should be 678366 instead of 678367)

The volume TMBackup needs to be repaired.

The volume TMBackup was repaired successfully.
In this case the bug was that Time Machine was thinking my backup drive ran outta room and the backup required 5 billion GBs of space. LOL! Gotta love Apple.
    Here's the quote:
"This backup is too large for the backup volume. The backup requires 5153960960.0 GB but only 203.0 GB are available.
To select a larger volume, or make the backup smaller by excluding files, open System Preferences and choose Time Machine."
If the message persists, get out your osx cd and boot up from there, and run disk utilities on your startup disk because the errors are sometimes coming from there as well. Not sure why yet.

Do you know of such a problem with JVM on Windows platform ?

The stack trace says that Java called a native method to create the file and got back a return of "access refused" from the native.
    Chec the os permissions.

In Windows, setting the Environmental Variable sometimes DOES NOT WORK.
The -Djava.io.tmpdir=C:\temp setting must be made in the server properties of the oc4j in order for it to work.

  • Error creating a directory while downloading

I installed this the first time fine, but it wouldn't recognize my itouch, so i uninstalled all of apples programs from my computer and reinstalled, then got the error:
"An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\in\AppleMobileDeviceHelper.app"
When I continue past this by canceling, i get similar errors with different variations under the program file directory writing, and when i try to install a previous version, I get this as well.
    Any help/ideas would be great.

Same exact problem for me. Reported it 9/24/09. Have not tried deleting the fonts. May try it if I'm not using them for something else. This is rediculious. There's a million reports of this problem out there with all sorts of Operating Systems and no one will fix it.

    Hi Glenn,
Thanks for the suggestion. Nope, it's not listed. The only thing listed is my Time Machine volume.
After a reboot, Time Machine seems to be working. It's making backups on schedule and the logs look good, not reporting any strangeness.
A bit bummed about these phantom errors that go away on reboot. I'll keep on eye on the error/reboot frequency.

Check whether the user you are using for FTPing is having proper authorizations.
Also, verify whether you have the archive directory in place.

I am getting authentication error while creating a DS from dscc on windows box on a linux RHEL4 server. However I do not get an authentication issue when creating a ds on solaris box from same dscc.
Can someone guide me what might be the issue?

    Hi,
Please check there is no firewall issue between your windows client to Linux directory server. You may be able to login via dscc but when you create DS instance, your dscc agent port might be an issue not able to talk to Directory server because of firewall.

while the problem seems to be with your TM disk you can try repairing both of them from the install DVD. insert the DVD and reboot normally. hold "c" at the chime. you'll be booted into leopard installer. once past the language selection screen choose 'disk utility" from Utilities menu at the top.

  • Error creating home directory - Access is denied.

    Hi,
I am getting one issue on the task while provisioning homedrive and homedirectory on AD resource.
Error creating home directory '\\rusehf06\home\rc9782rf': ': Access is denied
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

These error messages are typically pretty obvious with permission errors. It's getting the correct permissions that is the challenge. I would suggest you start by adding the user whom is in your IT Resource for Active Directory into the local administrators group for the server you are trying to create the folder on. Also, consult with your AD Admins to get it resolved the quickest most likely. Their skill set will be better than what we can provide.

  • Error in creating directory

i am using the following command to create a directory in Oracle:-
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY DATALOAD AS ‘D:\temp\udump’
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00911: invalid character
How, can we remove the error? Please, help in solving the doubt.
    regards

For eg., the directory 'DATALOAD' is not showing under D:\temp\udump path.Alas you have misunderstood the purpose of DIRECTORY objects in Oracle. They are a way of referring to OS paths abstractly, for instance in calls to UTL_FILE or when creating External Tables.
This is useful for all sorts of reasons. It's safer and easier that setting UTL_FILE_DIR in the init.ora parameters. It's hand if we want our application to run on different operating systems, or just on servers with different directory structures.
What CREATE DIRECTORY does not do is actually create the OS directory; it's just creating a mapping. You have to create the OS directory yourself, using the tool appropriate to your platform, Explorer in your case.

I am getting the following error while trying to load data using EAS v11.1.2.3
"failed to create client directory to write error file"
Any known root cause for this.

Check the default error directory while loading data? The error file in 11.1.2.2 points to C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\eas\client, which is already on the system where EAS is installed.
If the folder is not there then it is a bug, however you can change it to an existing path.
