Error in date format when  I load a CSV file

I am using Oracle G10 XE and I am trying to load data into my database from comma separated files.
When I load the data from a CSV file which has the date with the following format "DD/MM/YYYY", I received the following error "ORA-01843: not a valid month".
I have the NSL_LANG set to AMERICAN. I have tried the following command: "ALTER SESSION SET NLS DATE FORMAT="DD/MM/YYYY" and this does nothing. When I try to run "SELECT SYSDATE "NOW" FROM DUAL;" I get the date in this format "10-NOV-06".
I will appreciate any help about migrating my data with date fields in format DD//MM/YYYY.
Sincerely,
Polonio

  • Problems With Data Alignment when spooling to a CSV file

    Dear members,
I am spooling data to a csv file. My data contains 3 columns
    For example :
    col1 col2 col3
    USD,10000033020000000000000,-1144206.34
The 2nd column is alphanumeric, it contains some rows which have only numbers and some which have numbers and alphabets.
The 3rd column contains only numbers with positive or negative values.
I am facing problem with alignment. when i open the spooled csv file then i find that the 3rd column is aligned to right .
In the 2nd column, rows which have only numbers are right justified and rows which have alpha numeric data are left justified.
I tried using the JUSTIFY function in sql plus but still it is not working for me.
Can any body give your opinion on how to control the alignment in spooled csv files.

i think you do not have to worry about your code when you say that the plain texts created are ok when opened on the notepad. it is on the excel that you will need some adjustments. not sure about this but you might want to read about the applying styles in the excel by going through it's help menu.

  • Wrong date format when import CSV files

When you import a CSV file that contains fields with German date formats, these fields are displayed incorrectly.
Example: Contents of the CSV file "01.01.14". After importing the corresponding cell in Numbers has the content "40178".
A reformat the cell to a date format is not possible.
How do I get the date in the new version of Numbers displayed correctly?

It seems that there are more than a few problems related to import/export with non-US localizations.
I, personally, don't have a solution to your problem. I started to adjust my Language & Region settings to test your problem but it was several settings, I didn't get it right, and I didn't want to mess up my computer so I set everything back to US/English.
The only workarounds I can suggest are
Insert a new column into your table and in it put a formula that adds the number to the date 01.01.1904.  Or,
Edit the CSV in TextEdit to Replace All "." with "/".  This will work if "." is used for nothing else but these dates.
I recommend the second one if it will work for you. Hopefully Apple is addressing problems such as the one you are seeing.

  • Error in date format returned in FM: RH_READ_OBJECT

    Hi All,
I found an error in date format returned in field OBEG of FM: RH_READ_OBJECT.
It returns: 20112804 and it should be 20110428 (this is Sap internal date format)
It is strange because it does not happen all the time just in some particular scenarios.
Do you have any idea about this issue? Is there any note related to this?
Below a link to a debug screenshot:
    Thanks!

Hi Viji and thanks for your answer!
I checked checked user default settings and we have the same date format as anther user who is working ok.
Also I do not think it is a user settings related error because this is the result returned by a standard FM in debug mode so the value in the screenshot should be in internal Sap format which is: YYYYMMDD.
    Any other idea on this?
    Thanks!

  • My raw files go to unsupported file format when I load them in. Sony RX 100 had for one year. Never happened before.

my raw files go to unsupported file format when I load them in. Sony RX 100 camera shooting RAW had for one year. Never happened before.
Can only load the files in by running them trhough Adobe Camera RAW first and loading them as TIFFS into Aperture. JPEGs form the Sony load into Aperture just fine. Have repaired datebase, permissions ect but no change. Aperture 3.4.5 on a Power Mac. Whats up? Anyone know?

You mention that 'most' of your files are DNG. Try
running the effected files through Adobe DNG
converter again and then import your reprocessed
files to Aperture and see if the problem persists.
I had a problem with a batch of D2x files converted
to DNG which had been metadata tagged by
    PhotoMechanic (the evil app).
B.T.W. You mention that you had been using Bridge.
Are you getting any of the embedded XMP metadata
coming into Aperture during the import process?
Already tried that multiple times...no luck. I'm wondering though if it might be related to metadata as you suggest. I'm still trying different things to see what happens.
I was able to alleviate the problem on one set of images by painstakingly searching my external drive for the oldest backups I could find - CR2 files from before DNG conversion. I then ran those through DNG Converter and tried importing them again (this time, I embedded NO thumbnail, but I'm not sure if that made the difference - I think it was more likely a fluke in the original conversion that caused the problem). This time, it worked.
Now, the big problem is that I still have a couple hundred images for which I can't seem to locate the original CR2 files. I don't typically keep them after conversion, as I don't have the space for both.

  • CS2 12.0 crash when i load up a file

I have AI CS2 12.0 installed and I have some files that i created about 9 months ago. I don't remember what version of CS it was then but it was CS2.
Now when i load up the files they load fine but every time i go to 'file' and click 'save' the program crashes. I uninstalled AI and reinstalled it but get the same problem.
I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions as i'm really a beginner with AI.

I created a new file and it 'saved as' ok. When i re loaded it and made a change and clicked 'save' that was ok too.
I loaded up another older file that was saved back in March 2007 and now i just made a change and clicked on save and i get a messege saying
"Saving to the CS format may cause some changes to your text layout and disable some editing features when the document is read back in. Do you wan to continue" Yes/no.
But when i click save it doesnt crash. I loaded it back up no problem too.
On testing another older file though i get the messege
"Can't finish previewing. there isn't enough memory." ID=- 108 (i have plenty of HD space and 2 gigs of ram).
And also in another box a red circle with white 'X' and "An unknown error has occured"
Then when i click ok illustrator just shuts down.
On yet a nother file it says "An unknown error has occured" but does not crash and does not save.
I just tried a buch of older files and some save ok and others crash. Also, i tried to 'Ctrl C' then 'Ctrl V' to paste them to a new file and they save ok now.
It seems so intermittent. Could it be a virus? Or is there some incampatibility issue.

    Hi,
Are you creating a table and loading it in Openscript??
If so, can you show the screen shot.
One more information , you can also change the Excel sheet into a CSV file and you can add it as a databank in the Tree view of the Openscript.
    Thanks and Regards,

First, ask in the forum for the program you are using
This forum is about the Cloud as a delivery process, not about using individual programs
If you start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
Click the "down arrow" symbol on the right (where it says All communities) to open the drop down list and scroll
Second, do a complete scan with a good anti-virus program to be sure your computer is clean... I use Norton, there are others

    Hi everyone!
The following are the steps to load a excell sheet to oracle table.i tried to be as simple as possible.
    thanks
    Step # 1
Prapare a data file (excel sheet) that would be uploaded to oracle table.
"Save As" a excel sheet to ".csv" (comma seperated values) format.
Then save as to " .dat " file.
    e.g datafile.bat
1,Category Wise Consumption Summary,Expected Receipts Report
2,Category Wise Receipts Summary,Forecast Detail Report
3,Current Stock List Category Wise,Forecast rule listing
    4,Daily Production Report,Freight carrier listing
    5,Daily Transactions Report,Inventory Value Report
    Step # 2
Prapare a control file that define the data file to be loaded ,columns seperation value, name and type of the table columns to which data is to be loaded. The control file extension should be " .ctl " !
e.g i want to load the data into tasks table ,from the datafile.dat file and having controlfile.ctl control file.
    SQL> desc tasks;
    Name Null? Type
    TASK_ID NOT NULL NUMBER(14)
    TASK_NAME VARCHAR2(120)
    TASK_CODE VARCHAR2(120)
    : controlfile.ctl
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'e:\datafile.dat'
    INTO TABLE tasks
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    (TASK_ID INTEGER EXTERNAL,
    TASK_NAME CHAR,
    TASK_CODE CHAR)
The above is the structure for a control file.
    Step # 3
the final step is to give the sqlldr command to execute the process.
    sqlldr userid=scott/tiger@abc control=e:\controlfile.ctl log=e:\logfile.log

  • Loading a CSV file into a table

HTML DB Data Workshop has a feature to load a CSV file and create a table based on it.
I use a simplified version of this feature in my applications.
    See a quick demo at
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=38131:1
Create a small csv file like
    col1,col2,col3
    varchar2(10),number,"number(10,2)"
    cat,2,3.2
    dog,99,10.4
The first line in the file are column names
    Second line are their datatypes.
    Save the file as c:\test.csv
Click the Browse button, search for this file.
Click the Submit button to upload and parse the file.
You can browse the file contents.
If you like what you see, type in a table name and click the Create Table button to create a table.
Let me know if anyone is interested and I can post the code.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Vikas,
I tried to import your COOL application into html db at http://htmldb.oracle.com and got the error:
"Expecting p_company or wwv_flow_company cookie to contain security group id of application owner.
Error ERR-7621 Could not determine workspace for application (:) on application accept.
    OK "
The SAME error I get when trying to import Scott's Photo Catalog at http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=18326:7:6703988766288646534::::P7_ID:2242.
What should I change in the exported script in addition to change your workspace schema VIKASA or Scott's STUDIO_SHOWCASE to my NICED68?
    Thanks!

  • Loading a CSV file into a table as in dataworkshop

Data Workshop has a feature to load a CSV file and create a table based on it, similarly i want to create it in my application.
i have gone through the forum http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=334988&start=60&tstart=0
but could not download all the files(application , HTMLDB_TOOLS package and the PAGE_SENTRY function) couldnt find the PAGE_SENTRY function.
AND when i open this link http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=27746
I couldn't run the application. I provided a CSV file and when I click SUBMIT, I got the error:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PLS-00201: identifier 'HTMLDB_TOOLS.PARSE_FILE' must be declared
tried it in apex.oracle.com host as given in the previous post.

    hi jari,
I'm using the HTMDB_TOOLS to parse my csv files,It works well for creating a report, but if i want to create a new table and upload the data giving error *"missing right parenthesis"*

    ORA-01722: invalid number
I tried checking the value picking from the excel,
and found the chr(13),chr(32),chr(10) values characters on the value.
ex: select length('0.21') from dual is giving a value of 7.
When i checked each character as
select ascii(substr('0.21',5,1) from dual is returning a value 9...etc.
    I tried the following command....
    "to_number(trim(replace(replace(replace(replace(:std_cost_price_scala,chr(9),''),chr(32),''),chr(13),''),chr(10),'')))",
to remove all the non-number special characters. But still facing the error.
Please let me know, any solution for this error.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kiran

The load errors out on especially two columns :
    1) std_cost_price_scala
    2) list_price_per_unit
    both are number columns.
And when there is data being provided on them. It errors out. But, if they are holding null values, the records go through fine.
