The operating system may be the same but the Numbers applications are likely different. You need to get the apps in sync. Unfortunately, the Numbers (and Pages as well) saga is pretty confusing (and frustrating). Here's some info from the iWork resident version expert (PeterBreis0807):
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs. -
Keep getting error code 2048 when trying to open wmv files, says realplayer cannot open with the installed version of Quicktime, any suggestions?
wmv is a Windows Media format. I don't know why Realplayer is coming into it since that deals primarily with Real format files and maybe a few generic formats.

After installation a new Flip4Mac pane will appear in System Preferences. Make sure you set the boxes to ensure that it will play WMV files in Quicktime.
or play the files with VLC
VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - general media player that plays just about anything.
While you're at it you might install:
Perian codecs for Quicktime - http://www.perian.org - plugins to add functionality to Quicktime for playing additional audio and video formats
Quicktime audio problems, Perian, VLC - http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9013669 - read note about uninstalling prior DIVX support before installing Perian.
Perian doen't do WMV but it's handy to get many things to play in Quicktime.
Note, if these are protected WMV, nothing on a Mac will play those (unless you also have Windows installed). -
When trying to open iPhoto the computer says:

Last December I gave up my old because it just could not update...anything because it was not Intel-based. Updating everything on this OS to 10.9 has been confusing for me, but I just could not work with that old Mac because the updates were too smart? for my 10.6. It is upstairs now...for visiting family: games, garage band, etc.--things I never did use. Apple refurbished and purchase the extended warranty. Apple loyalist since late 1980's.

Currently using Flash Pro CS5, getting error when trying to open CS4 file. Error is "Slides and Forms documents are not supported in this version of Flash. Please open in previous version. Has there been a fix or patch to this issue or do I have to convert back to CS4 to open the file?

to reinstall CC shouldn't be a problem. You could download all the programs you need in the "try" Version from Adobe's download website. Because you have all needed serial numbers and so on, you can change your programs into "real" versions.

Problems shutting down and getting 'Error -39 when trying to open my files
After working all evening using my Macbook Pro, I close out all my programs and shut down the computer.
However, the computer refuses to shut down. The screen freezes and just sits there. After about 10 minutes of waiting I eventually hold down the power button to shut the computer off.
When I restart the MacBook Pro and try to open the file I was working on, I get the following error. 'While attempting to access [FILE], the file manager reported an error -39.'
Why does this keep happening?

nullI don't think you're having an Apple hard disk issue, because your other applications are working without problems.
I believe you are getting the corrupted file(s) (End of file, Error -39) because you are powering off the computer before the application and the computer have completely shut down.
I can't tell you why it is happening, but I suspect that the Finale application is being extremely slow to shut down, and it is leaving the '.mus' file open until it quits.

Access Denied when trying to open a file that is encrypted on network share with EFS
I just recently enabled EFS on the default domain policy and created a new network share, encrypted a file and added myself to that file and tried to open the file from my workstation. I then receive an error "Access denied", I also tried
to create a file and encrypt it on that same share and get an error "The requested operation cannot be completed. The computer must be trusted for delegation and the current user account must be configured to allow delegation."
My steps.
1. Enable group policy for EFS, removed the expired certificate that was already there and Created a new Data recovery agent.
2. Created a network share, created a test file, enabled encryption on the file
3. certmgr.msc, personal and requested a new certificate, Basic EFS
4. On the network share and properties of file, advanced, details and added the user
5. from the workstation tried to access the file, Access Denied. I can create any file I won't just can't add attributes to encrypt the file or open an encrypted file
Now if I go to the server where the CA is located which is also the AD server and create share and run the same process it works as expected. I'm guessing I have to export the cert from the CA server as a pfx and import that to both the server that
has the network share and the workstation but that still doesn't seem to work. Maybe I don't understand how EFS works and this is not possible? Any suggestions would be appreciated.You are correct in not understanding how EFS works.
When you connect to an encrypted file via a network share, the encryption/decryption takes place *on* the server. To enable over the network access, the server's computer account must be trusted for delegation.
The server actually impersonates the user and creates a user profile on the server (containing the defined EFS certificate and private key). The important thing to remember is that the files is transmitted in clear text from the server to the client.

When we debug the VB script in Visual Studio 2005 and encounters the statement app.open() it throws the error "Couldn't find installable ISAM".

First, make sure the package runs in 32-bit runtime mode (set Run64BitRuntime property to False) because you are using the 32-bit ACE OLE DB Provider. If it is not the case, the issue may occur due to the corrupted drivers or registry keys. You can try to
reinstall the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components as Arthur suggested.

Did you manage to find a solution for this? We are in NZ and having the same issue across out network of agency computers... Our IT supports answer is to overhaul the machines (at a huge cost!) but we're not even sure this is going to work... a bit ridiculous that you pay for a product you can't use properly and then have to pay for someone to fix it, which even then, might not work!
If you haven't found a solution, we did find a way around the vaildation for Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator and Bridge. At the validation screen if you click on the text to sign in as another user, it takes you to another screen. Resign in as the same user (yourself) and then it should let you access these programmes. Although you have to do it everytime you open it. Unfortunately we can't get it to work at all for Acrobat, it lasts about 2 seconds and then automatically quits.

CS5 crashes when trying to open RAW files. Help?

I recently had to reinstall CS5.1 on my mac (OSX 10.9.5) after formatting the hard drive and for some reason I'm no longer able to open RAW-files, neither in photoshop nor bridge. I have tried to remove and reinstall CS5, update my mac and camera raw, but nothing seams to help. I read somewhere else on the forum that it could help to delete the Camera Raw folder in the library, but that didn't help either. Any tips to what might be wrong?beltal wrote:

I've never known any Adobe download of a whole application to install a newer version than the original. You must have updated it yourself somehow, or you did not use the Adobe-provided Uninstaller to uninstall it in the first place. Never just "delete" an application; always use the Uninstaller.
By "deleting the ACR plug-in" do you mean the Camera Raw folder in the library? In that case, it was recreated when I deleted and reinstalled the software again, so it should not be any problem. I just gave it a try since it worked for someone else with the same problem: Can't open RAW .NEF images in Photoshop CS5
"Deleting" as opposed to uninstalling was my first worry; but no, I wasn't referencing any Folder, but the plug-in itself.
Note that in the correct path to the Camera Raw plug-in there is no such thing as a "Camera Raw folder". There is a Camera Raw folder in a different path inside the root-level Library, but that one has absolutely nothing to do with the ACR plug-in nor with anything else we have been discussing here. That latter "Camera Raw Folder" does not contain the plug-in; it contains only Adobe Patch Files, CameraProfiles and LensProfiles folders. Don't mess with that one. -
Keep getting errors when trying to open JAR files

My son is trying to open a .jar on his Macbook to add a mod to Minecraft. It throws an error and directs him to Console each time, but Console isn't showing any errors. Using advice on a couple of similar threads I followed some steps but ended up at a dead end.

I don't see anything in Java Console - but the steps I followd in teh other thread yielded that error message from Terminal - it was different from the error in the other thread, which related to out of data Java install. I have no clue what this is and Google isn't helping me much.

Ibelieve remote user deleted cache and now I have no bookmarks. I have tried to reset firefox and was unable to do so. I tried to restore bookmarks through the places sqlite file and windows cannot open the file. I went to old firefox file on desktop and tried to open a previous version of bookmarks and windows could not open file. I still have bookmark toolbar and a lot of my categories bookmarks but they are all empty. My plugins are still there Can you tell me where to direct windows to open sqlite of json files?
To experiment more safely, could you create a new Firefox profile? The new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder. If we get your bookmarks into the new profile successfully, you can create a backup and restore it in your regular profile.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
firefox.exe -P
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Please do not delete anything in this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, choose a name like TESTING, and skip the option to choose a folder. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
If you have backups in the JSON format (e.g., bookmarks-2014...json) try to restore one to this TESTING profile. This article has the steps (you will need to use Choose File... to get to the backup):

Does that work and give you complete results?
If not, the next thing I would try is to drop in the places.sqlite file you have and see whether Firefox can read it properly.

In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button
Got the list of files? Okay, leaving that window open, switch back over to Firefox and Exit the browser, using either:

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup -- you will see the timestamps update in the profile folder, then rename '''places.sqlite''' to something like places.old and drop in the places.sqlite file you want to test.

I recently moved my Time Capsule to 5GHz due to the wireless access point density in my area. I did notice greatly improved signal and reliability. However, I noticed my speed dropped from 20Mbps to about 9Mbps. My Time Capsule plugs into my Cable Mo
