  • Federated Search Error - Hello World Sample

    Hello,
I am trying to setup a Federated Search using the example HelloWorldSearch.war (java version). I am relatively new to the Portal Technology, but have extensive experience in web app development.
I am getting an error when I try to run my Federated Search. "Error - Error executing search on Test Federated Search : Federated search of federated portal object 200 could not be executed. The federated portal may be configured incorrectly." Any Ideas?
I have created 3 Portal Objects:
    1) Remote Server - this points to my Tomcat instance - http://msc_tesposito1:8080/
    2) Search Web Service - which points to app/service. I have specified "HelloWorldSearch/services/SearchProviderSoapBinding" and linked it to my Remote Server Instance.
    3) Federated Search - linked this to my Search Web Service.
I then took the HelloWorldSearch-Java.war file from the samples provided, renamed it to HelloWorldSearch.war and dropped it in my Tomcat webapps directory. I can hit the web service just fine by executing "http://msc_tesposito1:8080/HelloWorldSearch/services/SearchProviderSoapBinding".
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might be able to do to get this working?
    Tom Esposito
    Manheim, Inc.
    www.manheim.com

It works fine on my local tomcat. All this search returns is - "Place holder" string, it's harcoded there.
It seems you have registered exemple by manual. Try use migration tool - ...\plumtree\ptportal\5.0\bin\native\ptmigration.bat
As soon as migration(import) is done all you need to do is change url to your actual remote server

  • Federated Search Error

Hi, I have developed a few federated search agents against our document management system. The search agents work great, etc, EXCEPT for one glitch. When the search is invoked, the portal contacts the search agent and the search builds the document result set and sends it back, all basic stuff. So, if i get 150 results the page display would show display 1-20 of 150. The problem arises when i click next to get the next set of data. The portal shows me the same 20 dsocuments i was looking at but says 21-40 of 150. Now if I click next and then previous or previous and then next it shows me the correct 21-40 documents and all others are fine. Upon investigsting the issue, I found that the portal was contacting the search agent once to get the search result, but when the user hit next for the first time the portal contacted the search agent again and reran the federated search, but everyother next or previous click after that it did not. Any ideas? it's almost like it forgot that it contacted the search agent the first time. Has anyone experienced this problem or know of a bug. The search agent was built verbatum from Plumtree documentation and even reviewed by Plumtree to no avail :(

What is the soap request saying for the following values? If the number to return is set to 10, for the second request, it should be:
    <NumberToSkip >10</NumberToSkip> <MaximumReturn >10</MaximumReturn>
The only (non-bug) reason that NumberToSkip should not be set is if the TotalNumberOfHits was set to less than 10 (or whatever you have set for the number returned).

  • UltraSearch - federated search

We want to make use of the federated search technology within UltraSearch, but there is a problem using the 'federator resource adapter'.
Deploying works, but the UltraSearch Administration cleaves on the JNDI location "eis/oracle", which does not exist:
There are no available resource adapter. Verify the configuration and deployment of your resource adapter.
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: eis/oracle not found in admin
This error occures within UltraSearch Administration, if you click on the Tab 'Sources' -> Oracle Sources -> Create Source: Federated
Changing the federator JNDI location within the file '$PORTAL_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/default/FederatorSearchlet/oc4j-ra.xml'
(deployment descriptor for resource adapters) from "eis/Federator" to "eis/oracle" doesn't work, UltraSearch can't resolve the name.
    oc4j.xml:

The UltraSearch documentation (UltraSearch User's Guide) regarding federated search and federated sources is pretty inadequate.
Is there any document describing this topic?

    Oracle Portal: 9.0.2.5

Oracle Aplication Server: 10g (Patchset 9.0.4.1)
Database: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.5.0

    Dorian,
I realize that this post is a year old, but I am also trying to utilitze the federated search in UltraSearch. I have read that the capability exists but have not found any documentation on how to implement. From this post, it looks like you made progress. How did you find info on how to use this capability?
    Thanks,

  • How to get the SharePoint user context available in custom federated search connector?

    Hi,
I'm investigating the possibilities for developing a federated search connector for SharePoint 2013 Online. This should allow us to search a customer's database through our custom developed application (both on premise). We intend to develop
an remote federated search connector (using OpenSearch protocol) and configure a result source in SharePoint for that connector.
The problem I'm struggling with is that I want different search results from this ressult source based on the permissions of the user that is executing the search. The admin should find a lot because he has permissions on certain items in the custom
application. The employee should find just a few because he has no permissions on certain items in the custom application. We developed the custom application ourselveds and the search in that application is taking permissions into account: it doesn't
return results if a user doesn't have sufficient permissions. That part works just fine.
However, to be able to use that, the remote federated search connector must be able to identify the user that is executing the search in SharePoint Online. So: how do I get the SharePoint user context in the remote federated search connector?
I know I can configure the replacement token {User.Name} in the result source configuration, but that gives me the name of the user only. This is insufficient to get an identity, principal, token or whatever, that let's me log in into our custom
    application.
I also know that in a provider hosted app, user context is passed through from SharePoint and is known within the remote app. But since result sources need fixed (or anonymous) credentials configuration for connecting to the remote federated search connector,
all users will be using the same credentials. This makes me assume these credentials are for securing communication and cannot be used within the execution of the search within the remote federated search connector.
At the moment, I'm stuck. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ruud.

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, we cannot get the SharePoint user context available in custom federated search connector with other methods.

Error occurred during search: com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: error: communication with preprocessor failed;index=teste,location=cdphl815:30203 (Errorcode 42)
    That's probably an indexing error:

  • The following error occured when searching for on-premises exchange server

I look after a company where I installed a new DELL server last year, The server is running Windows Small Business Server 2011 which we installed. Exchange 2010 was installed as part of the Windows Small Business Server 2011 installation. At the time we
did not configure Exchange because they use external POP accounts for email. Eventually they wanted to move over to Exchange
When we created the user accounts using Windows SBS Console, it created a local mailbox for each user
    No problems - [email protected]
Since late last year every time I create a new user within SBS Console, it errors creating the mailbox
Add a user account and assign a user role
Getting "Unexpected error occurred" when Setting up an e-mail account for user
Looking at the error "Unexpected error occurred" & MessagingManagement "Unexpected error occured"
The user account is created ok just no e-mail address is created for the user
I never thought much about this at the time as we weren't using Exchange email accounts. I decided to have a look at this issue over weekend
When I try to open Microsoft Exchange Management Console I'm getting "Initialization failed"

One thing I've noticed from the start is that the error occurs when it is "searching" for the Exchange Server, it then goes on to name the server [server.myd.local] it knows it's there but cannot access it ?
Another thing I've noticed is that it always refers to the "remote server" this server is Windows SBS 2011, it's the Domain Controller, DHCP Server, DNS Server & Exchange Server all in the same box
I also noticed that the Health Check stated that "The default public folder database is remote"
Has this something to do with it ?
    Regards

    Thanks for the reply Larry
I've added more detail about the error, this server is exactly how I initially installed it. This was a clean install not a migration so Exchange was a new installation. I have not applied any service packs as I did not want to confuse matters
or compound the issue. I was wondering whether to install Server 2008 Service Pack 1 & the Exchange Service Packs. I will check the event logs & report back with what I find.

  • LDAP error 53002 (LDAP search failre operations error)

    Good day all,
When implementing LDAP authentication, I've received this error while configuring LDAP authentication. Here's how it happens:
    A) I created LDAP servers in security settings - they test successfully with the settings that I put in ("LDAP server connected successfully")
    B) Then I created a variable USER (with blank default initialization and LDAP variable user - (which I created in advanced LDAP server's settings) and Initialization Block - Authentication - after that I wasn't able to successfully test it - I would get the 53002 error.
    C) If I check "Use bind parameters" box - I get 53002 error with "Bad Search Filter" message
Can anyone please advice me on which steps i could take to troubleshoot?
    Thank you

Are you using OID or MSAD? If OID, check my blog entries here

I think your variable for the LDAP user is not correct.

  • Oracle.jbo.NoDefException: Error in Quick Search when we use View  Criteria

We encountered NoDefException error in Quick Search. We are using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, JHeadstart 11.1.1.4
I am able to reproduce the error by applying Oracle's HR schema. The following are the steps to reproduce with HR schema:
    1. Create an employee view named EmpVw by using the following query:
    select
    employee_id,
    first_name,
    last_name,
    email,
    phone_number,
    salary
    from employees
    2. Create a lookup view named CountryLookupView by using the following query:
    select
    country_id,
    country_name
    from countries
    3. Create a view named EmpCountryVw by using the following query:
    select
    emp.employee_id,
    emp.first_name,
    emp.last_name,
    cnty.country_id,
    cnty.country_name
    from employees emp
    inner join departments dept
    on emp.department_id = dept.department_id
    inner join locations loc
    on dept.location_id = loc.location_id
    inner join countries cnty
    on loc.country_id = cnty.country_id
    4. Create a LOV for the CountryId attribute in EmpCountryVw. The data source for this LOV is the CountryLookupView we just created. UI hints list type is Input Text with List of Values.
    5. Create View Criteria for EmpVw view, name it as EmpVwSearchCriteria Select EmpCountryVw from Attribute list, Operator is Exists, Operand is Inline View Criteria.
    6. Create new service EmployeeSearchService. Select EmpVw to the data model.
    7. In JHeadStart Application Definition Editor, create a new service node EmloyeeSearchService, set EmpVwSearchCriteria as Quick Search View Criteria in Search Settings section. Run the JAG, and then run the application.
    8. On the application screen, select EmployeeSearchService from the module drop-down list, on Emp Vw screen, click the glass icon to display the pop-up country search dialog, type in CA as country code, run the search, select the row with "Ca Canada" and then click OK button to close off the pop-up dialog. on Emp Vw screen, click "->" to run the search with Country Id = CA. Note the error dialog popup.
The error message is: oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25058

Please let me know if you have solution for this error. Thanks in advance.
    Sarah

    Sarah,
    I could reproduce the error.
However, I created a drag-and-drop page fragment with quick search and table, and modified the adfc-config-EmpVw task flow to reference the drag and drop page:
    <view id="EmpVwTable">
    <page id="__120">/EmpvwDD.jsff</page>
    </view>
And then I still get the same error, so this looks like an ADF bug to me.
I also created a stand-alone jspx page using drag and drop, same error as well. I suggest you make a testcase without JHeadstart and contact Oracle Support.

  • Robohelp 9: Error when using search terms including the word "not"

We are moving from Robohelp 7 to Robohelp 9.  We realize that Boolean operators such as NOT are supposed to be working now, but we do have times when we might find ourselves using search terms that include the word "not" on its own.
The problem that we are finding is that if we search for something like "office not installed", because that phrase is part of a specific error message we might be trying to locate, we are getting the error, "The words you typed is not a valid expression" [sic].
We have tried making modifications to the Stop Words and Always Ignore words and can't seem to find a solution.  We do need to be able to search using the word "not" as a regular search term.  Even as a Boolean operator (NOT), we are getting the same error.  Searching for "office installed" will get us the result that we want, but we have a team of users who will definitely instinctually search using the word "not" since it's part of the error they are searching for.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Benjamin
First, I don't believe the Always Ignore has anything to do with Searching. That particular list is used when you instruct RoboHelp to build an index using the Smart Index Wizard.
Actually, something like "Office Not Installed" is a perfect use of the Index. But I'm guessing here that your system doesn't include an index in favor of trawling through the pile of words in the project.
If you aren't using an index yet, I'd highly suggest you investigate it. In a properly indexed system your users will find what they are looking for infinitely faster and easier than they ever will by using Search.
    Just a thought... Rick

  • Federated search - specifying the service configuration page

I've built an interface (web service) to the Portal federated search specification so users can search libraries in our company's document management system (Panagon).
I want to specify an administration page, where an administrator can set a property which is the name of the library to be searched by an instance of the federated search web service. To do this, I've set a valid URL for the Service Configuration URL parameter when I configure the web service.
However, when I try to administer the Federated Search object corresponding to the web service, then I get the following message, even if the admin page has been built to just print a "Hello World" message:
<i>The Server Configuration Interface for this Outgoing Federated Search is unavailable. Check the URL configuration in the Web Service associated with this object.</i>
If I use the Administration Configuration URL, then I'm creating a rod for my own back, as we have 20 + libraries which we want to incorporate into the federated search interface. Each one of these would then have it's own entry in the "Select Utility" drop down box.
Has anyone successfully used the service configuration page option?
Thanks for any advice you can offer,
    Charles

I've used SCI elsewhere, but never in Federated Search. The best way to test SCI is to download the Service Station from http://portal.plumtree.com. That can show you the entire SOAP trace so you can see exactly what's going on.

  • Error when performing search:  getExtendedProperties [LDAP: error code 50

    Hi there,
We are currently running OAS 10.1.2. We have an application which is running Oracle Forms. To get access to these forms, the authenication is a combination of the user logging on to their windows domain, (AD SSO) and having the correct username and groups within Oracle OID and DAS.
We have a major problem at the moment in Production where every so often a user will get rejected for having insufficient access rights, and the UserID in the logs being Null. Yet if they try again it works.
Does anyone know why this might be happening for?
Here is the Forms log :
