Crystal Reports XI and Sun One 6.1 web server SP 5 Error finding JNDI name
I am trying to create a Crystal Reports XI report in a JSP using Sun One 6.1 Web server sp 5.
At this point I am getting the error Error finding JNDI name on Sun One
The application will run on Netbeans/Tomcat
I have done the following:
I edited CRConfig.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<CrystalReportEngine-configuration>

<DataDriverCommon>
<JavaDir>C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_10\bin</JavaDir>

<JDBCClassName>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</JDBCClassName>
<JDBCUserName>lab_ro</JDBCUserName>
<JNDIURL></JNDIURL>

</JDBC>
I created a report using JDBC (JNDI) connection and have the JNDI Connection set to the name of DATA.
The report works just fine in Crystal Reports.
Then in Netbeans I created an application and it runs in the Tomcat part of Netbeans
In context.xml I have:
<Context path="/BOEnterpriseTest3">
<Resource name="jdbc/dev" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource"
driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.10.10.10:1521:dev"
username="theuserid" password="thepassword" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10" maxWait="-1"/>
</Context>
In web.xml I have
<web-app>
<context-param>
<param-name>crystal_image_uri</param-name>
<param-value>crystalreportviewers11</param-value>
</context-param>

Hello everyone,
I developed a Web Service prototype accessing remote EJB using the EJB
control with special syntax in the jndi-name attribute: @jws:ejb
home-jndi-name="t3://10.10.245.70:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB"
Everything works fine, but I get an error when I restrict access to my web
service with a declarative security model by implementing steps provided in
help doc:
- Define the web resource you wish to protect
- Define which security role is required to access the web resource
- Define which users are granted the required security role
- Configure WebLogic Server security for my web service(Compatibility
Security/Users)
I launch the service by entering the address in a web browser. When prompted
to accept the digital certificate, click Yes, when prompted for network
authentication information, enter username and password, navigate to the
Test Form tab of Test View, invoke the method by clicking the button and I
get the following exception:
<error>
<faultcode>JWSError</faultcode>
<faultstring>Error during JNDI lookup from

</error>
I have a simple Hello method as well in my WebService (which is also
restricted) and it works fine, but remote EJB access doesn't. I tested my
prototype on Weblogic 7.2 and 8.1 platforms - same result.
Is that a bug or I am missing some additional configuration in order to get
that working. Has anyone seen similar behavior? Is there a known resolution?
Or a suggested way to work around the problem?
Thank you.
AndreAndre,
It would be best if this issue is handled as an Eval Support case. Please
BEA Customer Support at http://support.beasys.com along with the required
files, and request that an Eval support case be created for this issue.

Note: inter-domain communication is configured properly. The Web Service to
remote EJB works fine without a declarative security.
Any other ideas?
Thank you for your help.

Andre,
It seems you are using the URL
jndi:t3://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
whereas you should not be specifying the "t3:" protocol.
The URL should be like
jndi://secuser1:[email protected]:7131/AccountDelegatorEJB
Please do let me know if you see any issues with this.
Note that this will only allow you to access remote EJBs in the same WLS
domain. For accessing EJBs on another domain, you need to configure
inter-domain communication by
following a few simple steps as mentioned at
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/ConsoleHelp/jta.html#1106135. This link has
been provided in the EJB Control Workshop documentation.

Anything else should I try?
P.S. AccountDelegatorEJB, the remote EJB my Web Service calls is NOTaccess

I hope there is a solution.

Andre,
Can you try using the following url with username and password
jndi://username:password@host:7001/my.resource.jndi.object ?
once you add webapp level security, the authenticated is the user who
invokes the EJB.
http://e-docs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/controls/ejb/con
CreatingANewEJBControl.html?skipReload=true
has more info on using remote EJB's.
Hope this helps.

Error Finding JNDI name (DataSource Name)
Need help on "Error Finding JNDI name (DataSource Name).
The following are the details of my Java Swing Program.
Database used : IBM DB2 V7.2
Report Tool : Crystal Report 11
DataSource used: ODBC
I have a java swing program which calls an Crystal report viewer, to display the selected report. The program is able to display the report (.rpt file) in the java Crystal report viewer which is saved with data.
However when the report is refreshed from the viewer the program throws an error "Error Finding JNDI name (DataSource Name)".
i am using the following Crystal Java Reporting Component (JRC) imports.
import com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.*;
import com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.*;
import com.crystaldecisions.ReportViewer.*;
import com.crystaldecisions.reports.reportengineinterface.*;
Also i have configured the CRConfig.xml for JDBC connection as,
<JDBCURL>jdbc:db2:DataSource Name</JDBCURL>
<JDBCClassName>COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver</JDBCClassName>
<JDBCUserName>user name</JDBCUserName>Hi,
Thanks for your reply!
Yes, I used ADO.net in the designer.
The strange thing is that it works fine if I redo the report from scratch by using ADO.net (same XML-file as source as in the old report) and then the same query that didn't work for the "old report". Well on the other hand the new report is not yet as complex as the old one, it has no subreports yet like the old one had.
I'll try using the other XML source tomorrow as you said, and check if I can get the old report to work properly.
The old report has an XML-file as datasource(ADO.net) and all data is in subreports. Every subreport has the same datasource as the main report.
The reason is that when I first start to create a report Crystal Reports asks for a datasource and I filled that in. Then I realized that the reports should be made up of subreports, and when I created the subreports Crystal again asked for a datasource (I thought it could use the datasource from the mainreport).
Best regards,
Sebastian -

We traced the issue to a new data source that was added were we found that along with the the expected jndi name entry in the jdbc xml file, there were two blank entries:
<jndi-name>weblogic.jdbc.DataSource.EOI</jndi-name>
<jndi-name></jndi-name>
<jndi-name></jndi-name>
The data source was deleted, consoles restarted, the data source recreated and the issue occured again. To get by the issue we had to manually remove the blank tags from the xml file.
We created 2 new data sources, and it only happened on the one. The same data source each time. Additionally, this issue did not occur when these changes were made in our lower (development, qa) regions.
The version is the same in all three regions.
WebLogic Version:
WebLogic Server Temporary Patch for 9324911 Wed Feb 03 22:38:01 PST 2010
WebLogic Server 10.3 Fri Jul 25 16:30:05 EDT 2008 1137967
Is this a known issue? And if so, is there a way to avoid it, other than to start constantly checking the newly created XML files?
Thank you
tedYes, this is a common issue and documented in Oracle Docs:
WebLogic Server: Getting "weblogic.common.ResourceException: is already bound" exception with JDBC JNDI name (Doc ID 1154250.1)
The only fix is that you need to remove the empty value entries.
Cheers!!

[EJB:011055]Error deploying the EJB with error that JNDI name already inuse
Hi,
I have written a trivial application consisting of 4 stateless beans and 1 MDB. The ear is developed from some code generator tool and works fine if I directly deploy on weblogic server 812.
But in order to learn Weblogic Workshop I created new Application and EJB project. Then I imported the EJB jar and provided other source files.
From Weblogic Workshop I could generate the ear successfully. But while trying to deploy the ear I get the following exception :
<16/03/2005 10:02:38 PM GMT+05:30> <Error> <Deployer> <BEA-149201> <Failed to complete the deployment task with ID 1 for the application hsbc.

<b>Can someone tell where have I made the mistake?</b>
thanks in advance.Try to undeploy and un target the applcation via WLS console and they try to deploy it again. Or just try to redeploy it.

javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
=================
Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
context.lookup
( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
Any help would be most appreciated.

JNDI error while generating pdf from crystal reports in java
Hi, i want to generate PDF from crystal reports in java. I have the .PDF file with database configured into the report. Following details are available in report.
1. Server Name = testdb
2. Database Name = testdb
3. User
4. Password
I am using CR XI.
In CRConfig.xml i had given following details.
<JDBC>
<CacheRowSetSize>100</CacheRowSetSize>
<JDBCURL>jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.218.216.102:1521://TESTDB</JDBCURL>
<JDBCClassName>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</JDBCClassName>
<JDBCUserName>user</JDBCUserName>
<JNDIURL>password</JNDIURL>
<JNDIConnectionFactory></JNDIConnectionFactory>
<JNDIInitContext>/</JNDIInitContext>
<JNDIUserName>testdb</JNDIUserName>
<GenericJDBCDriver>
<Default>
<ServerType>UNKNOWN</ServerType>
<QuoteIdentifierOnOff>ON</QuoteIdentifierOnOff>
<StoredProcType>Standard</StoredProcType>
<LogonStyle>Standard</LogonStyle>
</Default>
</GenericJDBCDriver>
</JDBC>
When i am calling from java as standalone, i am getting following error.
JRCAgent1 detected an exception: Error finding JNDI name (testdb)
at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException.throwReportSDKException(Unknown Source) at com.businessobjects.reports.sdk.b.i.if(Unknown Source)
Can anyone let me know where is the problem?Actually, the question boils down to; does the framework support the fonts?
I believe that my question re. this working in the designer was valid. The designer does not use the framework, so if it works there, it is either a framework issue or a runtime print engine issue.
I believe if you use the code below, it will list fonts available to the framework:
foreach(FontFamily ff in FontFamily.Families)
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine(ff.Name);
For more information see kbase [1198306 - Crystal Report displaying incorrect font in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333133393338333333303336%7D.do]

Jndi error in crystal report connecting to jsp
hi
getting error while connecting my report to jsp
Error is JNDI error means i m unable to connect to oracle server using my jsp
if any one have answer than provide me
thanks& regards
rameshRethink your design. Unless this is a trivial application, a JSP should not be initiating database connections (or really performing any JNDI lookups at all). JSP's are part of the view. In model-view-controller architectures, which normal web applications attempt to implement, it is the model's responsibility to connect to a database to fetch relevant data. In its simplest form, this means you at least write a helper class to perform the JNDI DataSource lookup and return the data via a public method. Ideally, you have enough of these classes that they are not simply helper classes, but rather a full-fledged model tier. See tutorials here and on the net about MVC architecture.
As to your specific issue, it could be any number of issues. Are your deployment descriptors (web.xml, serverl.xml, weblogic.xml, etc.) set-up correctly? Is there a typo between the names declared? What does your JNDI lookup URI contain? Is there an error there? What is the code you are using to perform the lookup? What does the actual exception stack trace contain? We will need some or all of the above information to actually diagnose the source of the error.
However, first, redesign your JSP. :^)

Crystal Report JRC and JNDI problem
I need to convert one of our internal web application from using Crystal Report Server 10 RAS to using Crystal Report XI Java Component (JRC). I found several examples from SAP/BusinessObjects but am stuck with a database connectivity problem.
The basic enviornment info:
JBoss 4.0.3 SP1
Crystal Report JRC XI
Windows XP/Server 2003
JDK 1.5.x
MS SQL Server 2005
The error I am getting is "Error finding JNDI name (xxx)", although the application is already using the same JNDI and was able to display data on the web.
I added debug code:
Context initialContext = null;
try {
initialContext = new InitialContext();
DataSource ds = (DataSource) initialContext.lookup("java:MYAPP");
String t = ds.toString();
log.debug(t);
} catch (NamingException e) {
log.error(e);
I was able to get the data source successfully. The actual report file uses JDBC with JNDI named as "MYAPP". When I call the viewer, it gives
Error finding JNDI name (MYAPP)
message.
Any comment or help would be appreciated.
Thanks.How are you setting your connection info?
This is what we do:
IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
PropertyBag propertyBag = new PropertyBag();
propertyBag.put("JNDI Datasource Name", reportJndiName);
propertyBag.put("Database DLL", DATABASE_DLL); // required!!! (but we don't actually provide a DLL, or even run in windows)
connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);
ConnectionInfos connectionInfos = databaseController.getConnectionInfos(null);
IConnectionInfo oldConnectionInfo = connectionInfos.getConnectionInfo(0);
databaseController.replaceConnection(oldConnectionInfo, connectionInfo, null, DBOptions._useDefault ); -
Do JNDI look up for entity beans from a session bean in different jars
I have a problem doing entity beans JNDI look up from a session bean which is deployed
as a separate package (session.jar) from the entity beans (entity.jar)
I believe if both session bean and entity beans are deployed into one jar and
I specify ejb-local-reference-description for session bean, it should work. However,
due to some reason, they have to be in separated packages but still in the same
container. Then question how to do JNDI lookup given entity beans only have local
interfaces?
FYI.
1 both session.jar and entity.jar are self-contained. i.e., no deployment error.
each JNDI name can be viewed from JNDI tree

I have a problem doing entity beans JNDI look up from a session bean

I believe if both session bean and entity beans are deployed into one
jar and
I specify ejb-local-reference-description for session bean, it should
work. However,
due to some reason, they have to be in separated packages but still in
the same
container. Then question how to do JNDI lookup given entity beans only
have local
interfaces?
FYI.
1 both session.jar and entity.jar are self-contained. i.e., no deployment
error.
each JNDI name can be viewed from JNDI tree

JNDI lookup for Crystal Reports at runtime
How to run a rpt to fetch data from database connection defined in Tomcat's JNDI resources ? We are using JDBC(JNDI) Data source while designing the report in the Crystal Report designer and we want to use 'Connection Name' at runtime for jndi lookup to Tomcats JNDI resources.
Hi,
Thanks, this helped in resolving the JNDI lookup problem. But we are not having an issue in connecting to DS as it fails with error "Unsupported JNDI Object".
Tried suggestions on this link: "http://www.theserverside.com/discussions/thread.tss?thread_id=37430", but no luck.
Here are the configuration files:
context.xml:

<Resource name="jdbc/remedy" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource" driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.76.85.68:1521:dtv" maxActive="20" maxIdle="10" maxWait="-1" />
</Context>

CR4E - New JDBC (JNDI) connection at runtime
Is it possible to create a new JDBC (JNDI) connection at runtime using the propertyBag to set the attributes? I tried this but received error message stating "error finding jndi name".
Are you specifying a JDBC or JNDI connection?
If JDBC, did you set the (Optional) JNDI Connection property?
If you set the JNDI property for the JDBC connection, it'll try connecting to the JNDI.
The JDBC has the optional JNDI property, so that you can design a report against JDBC, then use the JNDI when deployed to a J2EE.

JNDI registration for custom module
Hello,
I have deployed my module with NWDI(NWDS 7.11). but it is not replecting in JNDI registry..and when I am executing this module the CC adapter goes into error with JNDI lookup not found...(becuz it is not present in the JNDI registry)..
so how to register the custom module in the JNDI registry?
any help will be appriciated...provide the jndi during your module development itself. when you deploy the module code the JNDI name gets automatically registered.
