Error in video training - Implementing two-way binding

During the Video training for Implementing two-way binding you have a slight error.
If you follow along with the video training the instructor misses the step of assigning the Value Object(DTO) as Bindable.
The instructor goes from adding the "@" symbol to the bound selectedEmployee.salary to running the application and it runs fine. To do this in the code you need to add [Bindable] to the Value Object(DTO) Employee.
<s:TextInput id="salaryInput"
text="@{selectedEmp.salary}"/>
package valueObjects
[Bindable]
public class Employee

Can you please file a bug at http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/ and post the bug number here.
Thanks,
Peter

• Implement two way replication on few tables

Is there a way where I can implement 2 way replication.
For instance I've two database A and B
In a table in database A get updated or changed ..the effect should be shown on B
and vice versa....
Need ideas...

* Oracle edition (enterprise, standard),
Enterprise edition
* network connectivity (is there a stable network link between the two),
Yes we have a stable network
* latency requirements (how quickly does a change on one have to appear on the other), and
probably every 3 hrs
* business requirements (why are you replicating the data in the first place)
Well ours is call center, we work according to the availability of the interpereters and also we keep change pricing of call on daily basis.
So there are few tables which needed to be updated regularly.

Hello,
If using SQL-Server look at using SQL Dependency class to get notified of changes outside of your application say by another app or from even SQL Server Management Studio

• Spark DataGrid two way binding

I am having a problem with two binding in the Spark DataGrid.
Here is a code fragment:
<s:DataGrid requestedRowCount="4" fontSize="11" sortableColumns="false"
id="engines" rowHeight="22"
height="100%">
<s:columns>
<s:ArrayList>
<s:GridColumn headerText="Initial" width="50">
<s:itemRenderer>
<fx:Component>
<s:GridItemRenderer>
<s:layout>
<s:VerticalLayout paddingLeft="2"
verticalAlign="middle"/>
</s:layout>
<s:TextInput restrict="a-zA-Z" text="@{XML(data).initial}"/>
</s:GridItemRenderer>
</fx:Component>
</s:itemRenderer>
</s:GridColumn>
As you can see I am using a TextInput as a custom renderer. While this solution basically works however typing into a text field defined by a custom renderer has some strange problem: after each character being typed I have to click on the text field to get a focus back to continue typing. Any idea why that is happening?
Thanks

Is it possible to specify a renderer to be an editor? If not, what's a basic approach specifying a custom renderer and an editor at the same time?
Thanks

• Two way data binding - anyone tried this?

Hi,
I typically create my bindings going in just one direction.
Select this, which then filters the information fo the next select.
I'm looking at a project that has six selects. Ideally, if I
started with say the fifth select, it would alter the data coming
through on the other 5. I don't have to select all six, so the
cfargument required field could be "no". Additionally, the
cfargument's default could be ''.
Has anyone played around with a two-way bind? Any thoughts on
this would be appreciated!
Thanks!
cfwild

That would be great. So tell me what I don't understand.
Let's say I have a component with a "contact" property that is an XML :
<contact>

<country>France</country>
<city>Paris</city>

...
Now this component contains 2 components that take contact XML, and the node you want to represent :
<comp:MyComp myContact="{contact}" info="country"/>
<comp:MyComp myContact="{contact}" info="city"/>
The first MyComp represents contact.address.country, the second MyComp represents contact.adress.city.
For example, a click in MyComp representing country, will do :
myContact.address.country[0] = "Spain";
myContact.address.city[0] = "Madrid";
myContact property is Bindable, and the model "contact" is changed in the parent component. But the first MyComp does not display Spain but still France, unless I dispatch a PropertyChangeEvent. Then Spain is displayed on first MyComp but I still have Paris in the second MyComp.
Edit : I use bindable function. MyComp is like this :
[Bindable]
public var myContact:XML;
public function getInfo(myContact:XML):String
return myContact.address.elements(info);

</fx:Script>
<s:Label text="{getInfo(myContact)}"/>

• Two-way bindings on composite objects

Does anyone know of a way to get two-way bindings to work for a ComboBox that uses objects (not just simple Strings) which contain other objects?
For Strings in 'objectToBindWith' bindings work fine of course. But if you have some other type of object inside, the compiler chokes with "Cannot assign to a non-reference value" when doing a 2-way binding.
public class SomeObject {
public var name:String;//Two-way works fine for simple types (of course ALL examples use this simple case...)
public var refData:RefData;//No worky
public class RefData {
public var id:Number;
public var code:String;
public var description:String;
[Bindable]
private var objectToBindWith:SomeObject;
[Bindable]
private var someReferenceDataList:ArrayCollection; //This would be a list of "RefData" objects in this case.
<mx:ComboBox dataProvider="{someReferenceDataList}" selectedItem="@{objectToBindWith.refData as RefData}" labelField="description"/>
Now I would have "hoped" that a two way binding would attempt to select (from the dataProvider list) the matching object (if any) being set as selectedItem, as well as set the value of objectToBindWidth.refData to the selectedItem when that changes... but I guess this is too much to expect? Are there any simple ways to make this work as intended?

Yeah, I don't think this would work because the selectedItem has to part of the dataProvider--not just an object with the same values. Also, you can't use the selectedItem property in MXML.
So, just to show how it could be made to work, you could use <mx:Binding>, like:
<mx:Binding
source="rdObject"
destination="cb1.selectedItem"/>
...where you define rdObject like:
[Bindable]
private var rdObject:Object = ac1.getItemAt(2);
Now it will work because rdObject actually points to an item in the Combo Box' dataProvider.
In order to update the selectedItem property on the fly, you'd have to resort setting it manually as needed, either by changing rdObject, or using a cursor on the dataProvider to search for a given value, then setting selectedItem with that (like, cb1.selectedItem = cursor.current).
I'd also point out that this really isn't two-way binding that you are attempting; it's more like double-binding on the same component.
OK, well if you MUST extend ComboBox, you could do this (this is from a custom MXML component I made which extends ComBox, and uses an override on selectedItem):
//Used to store a pre-selection default; optional.
[Bindable]
private var _DEFAULT_SELECTION:Object;
public override function set selectedItem(value:Object):void{
if (value != this.selectedItem){
super.selectedItem = value;
//set the default selection here for comparison later.
//Store off the _DEFAULT_SELECTION value.
//If selectedItem was not specified, _DEFAULT_SELECTION will simply be null.
_DEFAULT_SELECTION = value;
}else{
THEN you could access selectedItem directly in MXML, and bind to it.

iphoto 9.5.1 will not import videos with .mpg extension from my pictures folder and keep getting a OSStatus error-54. Is there a way I can import such videos to the iphone library? Pls help.

This is what that error means:
-54
permErr
Software lock on file; Not a subscriber [permissions error on file open]
Download and launch BatChmod. Put the videos into a subfolder and drag that folder containing the video files into the Batchmod window. Make sure you are the owner and have R,W, X access as well as the group. Everyone will have R only.
Check the Change ownership and privileges, Unlock and Apply to enclosed boxes and then click on the Apply button. When done try importing the files again.

Before you go to the trouble of going through all those steps, be warned that attempting to use Dreamweaver CS4 with SVN could even cause Dreamweaver to crash after updating to SVN 1.6.2. I, too, have abandoned SVN integration with Dreamweaver until the problems are sorted out. I reported this problem to Adobe a couple of weeks ago, and spent a long time working with an Adobe engineer, who was able to reproduce the problem, but not offer a solution. Hopefully, the next version of Dreamweaver will have more robust support for Subversion.

I have copied the server side code and the client side code out of the e-book("A Better Two-Way Chat Application"). All the thing i changed in the codes are:
-in server side code: nothing
-in client side code:

When i try to connect (you can try it here): mz203.atw.hu), after a few seconds the Flash Player crashes.(I see myself and the other person for 1-2 seconds).
Have you got any idea, why is this?

• Error message saying "unable to establish two-way communication with device"

I have an HP C309a printer/scanner/fax. I have recently reconfigured it to work wirelessly instead of via the USB cable, which it does. But if I try to go on to the HP Solution Centre/Settings/Printer Toobox to clean the printheads, it tells me that this cannot be done because "the computer cannot establish two-way communication with the device".
If I plug the USB cable back in, I can clean the printheads fine.
Does anyone have a way of allowing me to clean the printheads without using the USB cable?
roger

Hi rogercorke,
I believe you can also clean the printhead from the printer control screen. Press the Wrench button from the printer Home screen and then press Tools>Clean Printhead.
If you need to use this feature wirelessly, try running the HP network diagnostic utility on your wireless setup and see what it says: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/en/hho/ipg/foru...

• Delivery notification for two way ports

HI
I am using a two way BasicHttp Adapter for sending requests and receiving response from a Web service. I want to handle Delivery Notification errors but since it works only for one way ports how can i implement the same for my scenario Please advice.
Regards
Suresh

Hi Suresh,
Snippet below from the
link should answer your specific question.
Handling Delivery Failure Exception (using a request-response port)
There is a great post
by Naveen Karamchetti about this; this is the key steps…
In order to catch an exception within your scope block in BizTalk while using a request-response port, you might have to do the following:
Set the retry-count to 0 on your physical request-response port which you use to bind.
Enable the flag Delivery Notification to ‘Transmitted’ on your logical request-response port within the orchestration.
Catch the “Microsoft.XLANGs.BaseTypes.DeliveryFailureException” exception and handle it as you’re please.
The Delivery Notification flag on the Send Port indicates that the orchestration must be NOTIFIED back, in case the message has not been received by the destination. Delivery Notification works only when
the Retry Count set to 0. When a message cannot be delivered, a Delivery Failure Exception is raised and the exception needs to be handled by the Orchestration.

• Help with getting Web Start working with two-way SSL

I have successfully transferred data (myclient.jnlp) utilizing web browsers (IE and Mozilla) from my web server (which is set up for two-way SSL "CLIENT-CERT" required) after using the browser's utility to "import" my client-side cert (in .p12 format).
After the browser connects and downloads the "myclient.jnlp" contents and places it in a temporary file, it then kicks off the javaws process with the temporary file as a parameter. The first thing javaws does is utilize the codebase and href values (found in the temporary file) to make a "GET" call to the server for the "myclient.jnlp" file (again).
However, this fails (with a SSL handshake error) since javaws uses a different keystore than IE - the server does not receive the client-side cert. I have imported the root CA and the client cert (in .pem format) into the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security/cacerts file using the keytool command but alas my server still indicates a lack of a client-side cert.
Has anyone else tried this and got it working?

Hi Richard,
Indeed it appears that the 1.5 version will have more built-in capability for client certs. It has the look of the IE browser import capability. Unfortunately, I am stuck with having to utilize 1.4.2 for the time being. Since I have posted my original message I have found more information but have yet to get it all working. The truststore in javaws 1.4.2 does have a default (the 1.4.2 jre's cacert file - stragely enough not the same one that gets updated when you import the root CA! - but this has been noted in many other threads). The javaws keystore does not have a default and I have tried, to no avail yet, to utilize some command line parameters, see http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/security/jsse/JSSERefGuide.html#Customization - to get my client cert "available" and recognized by javaws.
With the help of some debug flags here is the output on my javaws "output" log - all seems to go well up to the point of the client's Certificate chain (which appears to be empty), after the ServerHelloDone :
trustStore is: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\jre\lib\security\cacerts
trustStore type is : jks
init truststore
adding as trusted cert:
snipped all the regular trusted certs, left my root CA as proof it is recognized...

I am having trouble Trouble implementing one-way SSL on WebLogic 9.2. I am using Demo Identity and Demo Trust certificates with a SSL Listen Port Enabled on 7002, and a Two Way Client Cert Behavior of Client Certs Not Requested. I assume that by using Client Certs Not Requested that there is no need to install certificates on user's computers.
When weblogic is restarted, I get the following log telling me it works...
<Sep 11, 2012 9:35:16 AM PDT> <Notice> <Security> <BEA-090171> <Loading the identity certificate and private key stored under the alias DemoIdentity from the jks keystore file E:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\DemoIdentity.jks.>
<Sep 11, 2012 9:35:17 AM PDT> <Notice> <Security> <BEA-090169> <Loading trusted certificates from the jks keystore file E:\bea\WEBLOG~1\server\lib\DemoTrust.jks.>
<Sep 11, 2012 9:35:17 AM PDT> <Notice> <Security> <BEA-090169> <Loading trusted certificates from the jks keystore file e:\bea\jdk150_12\jre\lib\security\cacerts.>
<Sep 11, 2012 9:35:17 AM PDT> <Notice> <Server> <BEA-002613> <Channel "Default" is now listening on 10.9.20.172:7000 for protocols iiop, t3, ldap, http.>
<Sep 11, 2012 9:35:17 AM PDT> <Notice> <Server> <BEA-002613> <Channel "DefaultSecure" is now listening on 10.9.20.172:7002 for protocols iiops, t3s, ldaps, https.>
However, when I open the console in https://server:7002/console, I get the following error in log file...
<Sep 11, 2012 9:43:45 AM PDT> <Warning> <Security> <BEA-090481> <NO_CERTIFICATE alert was received from x.y.z.com - 10.37.10.54. Verify the SSL configuration has a proper SSL certificate chain and private key specified.>
<Sep 11, 2012 9:43:45 AM PDT> <Warning> <Security> <BEA-090508> <Certificate chain received from x.y.z.com - 10.37.10.54 was incomplete.>
I do not understand why I am getting this error when I assume there is no need to install certificates on user's computers. Can't someone please explain what is going on? Thanks in advance.

• How to Use a Certificate for Two Way SSL and another certificate for WS Security Header at Client Console Application(C# Dotnet)

Hi,
I want to consume a Java Web service from Dotnet based client Application. The service require one Certificate("abc.PFX") for Two Way SSL purpose and another certificate("xyz.pfx") for WS security purpose to be passed from client Application(Dotnet
Console based). I tried configuring the App.config of Client application to pass both the certs but getting Error says:
Could not establish secure channel for SSL/TLS with authority "******aaaa.com"
Please suggest how to pass both the certs from client Application..

Hi,
This problem can be due to an Untrusted certificate. So you need just full permissions to certificates.
And for more information, you could refer to:
