Hi,
InContext Editable (ICE) regions can only contains static areas like text and static assets, it cannot wrap around javascript – populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. (most likely causing the error)
ICE can edit only static page content such as regular HTML content. It cannot edit any element that is dynamically updated for example a div (or another element) which is manipulated (created or its contents are modified) by JS– populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. It cannot edit menus, content holders or content outputted by system modules or tags either.
By default, on a page that has no ICE editable regions defined the editor attempts to find any regions you might want to edit and if possible make them editable. If it does not find the correct regions you want to edit you will need to explicitly define some editable regions.

Error Message: The Adobe InContext Editing service is currently unavailable
Hey Folks,
For the past week, my client is getting the folowing error message when he tries to log in:
The Adobe InContext Editing service is currently unavailable.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try again later.
However we can access the editor from another computer without without problems.
He is in a different country and he had been using the editor for quite a few months now.
Have the minimum requirements changed?
Thanks,
[email protected]That's correct Corey.
The client is in Cyprus accessing the editor through a Firefox browser, which he had been successfully doing for some time now.
His representative, using the same login and password in Canada is able to access the editor fine.
I've since sent him a seperate login invitation
I've asked him to try another browser / computer.
update his flash
He said his flash wouldn't update, so I don't know if it's an issue with his browser, computer, or user.
I'm waiting on the other two action items.
Thanks for your involvement. -
We just set up a web site with InContext editing following the procedures in Business Catalyst documentation to do that. But now when we go to the administration section of the site, and turn on InContext editing, it won't let us update the text. We receive an error message:
"This region contains content with dynamic behavior added..."
Does anyone know what causes this problem, and how to fix it?Hi,

ERROR: Spry Dataset -vs- InContext Editing
I am having horrible luck importing ICE editable content into a Spry Dataset.
What I'm trying to achieve is something similar to the YUI Calendar Method performed by George & Pablo here: http://tv.adobe.com/#vi+f1500v1435
The easiest way is to take a web page I have set up in tables.. but you can only create Editable Regions for InContext Editing using <div>s...
No matter which method I try, I come up with an error. I need the end user to be able to edit his own "Calendar" and I need to be able to imort this information into a Spry Dataset. Any way I can accomplish this???I forgot to mention one other problem
The layout that I sketched up is the one I am going for. So a tip on how to get the text and the headings to flow around the image like shown in the picture would be greatly appreciated. Is it recommended to use tables inside div tags or spry for that matter?
Thanks a million. -
Incontext Editing Sign in Error For Valid Users

On the Admin panel for these users are listed correctly as

need this working ASAP.Hello hmcom,
Looking at your URL, I've noticed that both
http://baltimorecarpets.com
and
http://www.baltimorecarpets.com
are registered to the InContext Editing service. InContext Editing
sees them as two separate sites and the users associated with them
are not shared between sites.
The problem that you have might be caused by the fact that
the publishers have been invited for one of these sites, but when
they try to login they are using the other URL (with or without the
'www' part). You should keep a single site registered (the one that
has the publishers invited), and delete the other one (using the
Remove website button from the InContext Editing Portal). Also, you
should instruct the publishers to

InContext Editing disappearing
What could cause InContect editing to just shut down? I inserted it in many sites successfully. However, in this site I log in, and after a second or two InContext editing shuts down without error message. Most pages have a litte Flash file to play background music. I removed that on the "Venue" page to see if that is causing the trouble but it is not. Any ideas?

Thanks,
GudrunI found the answer myself. I didn't know it was a Microsoft server which did not support php. Although the pages worked fine (I had only php extensions and no other code), InContext editing crashed. I changed the file extensions to htm and now it works.

‐ The InContext Editing TeamCAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE
1. CTRL E has never worked and I have always edited my site via a link that my web designer has given me ,I don't get an error message just nothing happens, any ideas?
2. When I go through the link given to me by my web designer to edit the site the site appears but everything is smaller, font boxes etc, and not the correct size, I can edit ,however when I then exit editing and check to see if my site has changed nothing has .
Viewing the site outside of incontext editing all is normal, correct size etc , it is only when I'm in editing that the site appears different and not right. This is a recent problem and all ( apart from CTRL E ) has been fine.
Its almost like I have 2 websites one out here and one in incontext editing , any suggestions
Many thanks

The Adobe InContext Editing service will undergo scheduled maintenance for approximately 15-20 minutes starting at 8:00PM PST on June 13, 2009. During this time you will be unable to send out invitations and will receive an error when try to do so. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Using Incontext editing with PHP pages
Hi,
Has anyone established whether you can use incontext editing
with php pages. My site works perfectly except for the pages i have
created in php. The reason i have used php is that they are secure
that only certain users can access.
The error message that comes up is: "No input file specified.
" But the page is up.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
ChrisHello Chris,
Yes, it is possible to edit PHP pages with InContext Editing,
however InContext Editing should not be used to edit dynamic
content in PHP pages. If you edit dynamic content that is loaded
into an InContext Editing editable region, it will be overwritten
as static content.
In regards to the problem you're experiencing, it appears to
be an issue with the HEAD http request. InContext Editing is using
HEAD requests to check the existence of the draft and published
versions of the current page (in your case, InContext Editing is
making a request for products_bedroom_draft.php). If those calls do
not work as expected (the HEAD should return status code 200/304 if
the checked page exists, 404 otherwise) then you will experience
this behavior.
A HEAD http request for products_bedroom_draft.php is
returning a 502 Bad Gateway status code which is not what InContext
Editing expects.
Please contact your web hosting provider for assistance with
this server issue. This will likely require changes in web server
configuration.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best regards,

Hello:
I am trying to test Incontent out for a client
This is the page
http://www.ironstone.net/includes/ice/ide.html#page=puppies.htm
or online it is just:
http://www.ironstone.net/puppies.htm
everything I edit and try to save it gives this error:
you can only save pages using UTF-8 or ISO
made the page in Dreamweaver CS3 and now I have CS4
I have tried different header codes
right now I have
<html xmlns="
http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=utf-8" />
but no matter what I put in the header so far I can't save
the editsHi Merit,
At this time, the InContext Editing service is available as a
free preview to users in the US. I can't provide any information
about InContext Editing pricing beyond what is available in the
FAQ:
When will InContext Editing be available?
The Adobe InContext Editing service will be available in
October 2008 as a free preview for users in the United States.
How much does InContext Editing cost?
While in free preview, InContext Editing is available at no
charge. The final pricing for the service has not been determined;
however, it will be offered as a monthly or annual subscription
with a price of US$10 to US$20 per month. Use of the service will
likely be limited to five domains, and users will be able to add
domains for an additional fee. The service may be bundled with
other value-added services for web professionals. It is up to web
professionals how they charge their clients for the service.
What are the goals of the free preview?
Adobe is offering the free preview program to give the
community an opportunity to provide feedback, help identify bugs,
or suggest feature additions before launch of the paid service.
Can I use InContext Editing in a production capacity?
InContext Editing can be used to edit and maintain live
websites. The hosted service has been thoroughly tested to minimize
the occurrence of data loss or structural damage to websites.
I will post more information about InContext Editing
availability and pricing as soon as it becomes available. Thanks
for your patience with this!

Adobe Muse & Business Catalyst "InContext Editing" formatting limitation problem
I created a site in Adobe Muse, and hosting it on Business Catalyst (web marketing account). I want my client to update site using the new "Edit" tab for "InContext Editing.” Made her an administrator and user like myself. I can edit content, but no formatting is allowed. Not even allowing me to add a link. A setting in Muse or BC I need to change? Any help appreciated, thanks.
Hi
Can you replicate the same behavior with any site you have published with Muse or any specific site ?
If you try to add any content , do you face any error ? or what exactly happens ?
Please try to check this with a different page and add a simple text and publish.
If still same issue, it would best to submit a support ticket directly.
Thanks,
Sanjit -

PanduI am receiving the same message, but only in Internet

Unfortunately, my users are all on IE. I get the "You cannot edit

Two of the regions are the "Announcements", and the message from
the Scoutmaster.
Simple text regions setup for editing, nothing fancy, no

How do i remove incontext editing to allow contribute to work
Hi, I am hoping someone maybe able to help...
A while ago I put a site together at applied incontext editing regions. After being notified that it will no longer work in May this year, I decided to purchase contribute and went through the labourious task of removing all incontext editable regions and replacing them with normal editable regions.
I have launched the site in contribute to test that everything works and it keeps coming up with 'You can't edit this page in Contribute because it has "Adobe InContext Editing" region(s).
This is on almost every page on the site but two which it allows me to edit. I have gone back to the Dreamweaver file and checked through the code, I am certainly no code expertI have compared it to sites which didnt have the InContext applied to it... I am baffled
Can anyone shed any light on the situation?
Much appreciated
NaomiFor anyone that has a similar problem....
I have now sorted the problem - my dreamweaver was not updating the server copy. I used FETCH as a secondary option by dragging and dropping the files. It updated the files and its now working! YAY!
I had to make sure all incontext code was removed at the top of the code there was a line as well as along side each editable region. I even took out the editable regions and replaced them with normal editing regions (not Incontext). -

NaomiI think I can see the problem! - I have updated the file in dreamweaver but it
is not updating the copy on the server when I upload it...
I can see the code that I have deleted still showing at the top of the page - I just cant get it to refresh!
I will try doing it with fetch.....
Just done it with fetch and it works! - Dreamweaver will not refresh the server copy. -
