  • Need to install Power Query with Internet Explorer 8

Hello, could someone please help me?
I need to install Microsoft Power Query to allow me to easily merge excel tables from different worksheets (files).
The problem is that I am restricted to Internet Explorer 8.
Here are my specs, I cannot change these:
    Windows 7, 64-bit operating system
    Excel 32-bit, Professional Plus 2010
    Internet Explorer 8
When I try to install Power Query, I get the message that I need IE 9.
I and others have other browser-based tools that only work on IE 8.
There must be some work-around for this.
I do NOT require the internet-searching feature of Power Query.
    Here are some possible options?
Go into Control Panel and manually switch IE versions each time (not a feasible method at all)
Force Power Query to work using Chrome or FireFox instead
Disable certain features of Power Query to allow installation with IE 8
This is really disappointing, I don't understand why we can't just have Power Query install regardless of IE version.
Some functions could be disabled, but at least we could still use the actually important tools.
Thanks for your help. Any input is appreciated.

    Hi,
    As far as I know,
Microsoft Power Query for Excel requires Internet Explorer 9 or greater. Windows operation system will check the system requirements before starting installation. Thus, we could not do the options which you mentioned above.
Then, we may try to find the workaround to get your original purpose: Merge excel tables from different worksheets (files).
    1. Try to use
    PowerPivot
    http://www.powerpivotpro.com/2012/09/combine-multiple-worksheetsworkbooks-into-a-single-powerpivot-table/
Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
    2. Try to use VBA code
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg549168(v=office.14).aspx
    3. If you have Excel 2013, we may try the new featuer "Data Model " in Pivot table:https://support.office.com/client/Tutorial-PivotTable-data-analysis-using-a-Data-Model-in-Excel-2013-f9ad8310-3b5b-48a3-913d-5cc1b364ee46
    Hope it's helpful.

Microsoft Power Query for Excel (x64) requires the 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel 2010 SP1 or Microsoft Excel 2013. Please first install the 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel 2010 SP1 or Microsoft Excel

  • Power Pivot & Power Query

I have very recently purchased yet another copy of Office, I now have every version from 97-2013, all Pro versions. I downloaded powerpivot for 2010 and that works fine. When I purchased (directly from MS) 2013 I thought powerpivot came with it as standard.
I am agahst that it doesn't, I tried downloading it only to be told "I do not have the correct version"!!!
What is going on MS?? nowhere does it say "CAUTION this Pro version does not have PowerPivot or PowerQuery, oh and what's more you can't download it either!"
I am a developer who constantly hears from clients "I'm not having 2013..." maybe they know more than I do eh?
    Come on please play fair!

    Hi,
Which Office 2013 version are you purchased? Office 2013 Professional or Office 2013 Professional Plus? As far as I know, Power Pivot & Power Query
are available in the Office 2013 Professional Plus and Office 365 Professional Plus editions, and in the standalone edition of Excel 2013, not Pro version( If you only purchased Pro, you can't use them)
Now Power Pivot is built-in add-ins with Excel 2013, we do not need to download it, just enable it.
    Go to File > Options > Add-Ins.
In the Manage box, click COM Add-ins>
    Go.
Check the Microsoft Office Power Pivot in Microsoft Excel 2013 box, and then click
    OK.

  • Power Query SCCM Installation

I have been trying to create a SCCM application which will install Power Query after installing MSOffice Pro Plus 2013. On a machine which has the Office, I can manually install Power Query, however, silent and administrative installs do not work.
Has anyone successfully install Power Query through System Center as a system application (no user interaction)?  If so, what am I missing.
    Steps taking so far:
Downloaded latest Power Query Software: "PowerQuery_2.13.3688.242 (32-bit) [en-US].msi"
Created a new application from the MSI.
    Created a deployment.
Tested deployment on Windows 8.1 Machine. Failed to install.
Tested deployment on Windows 7 Machine. Failed to install.
Tried on both Windows 7 and 8.1 Machines to install by command line (admin command prompt) with /a or /I with /qn and will not install.
In event viewer return code is installation success or error status: 0.
Verified com add-in is not present.
Tried on Windows 7 and 8.1 machines installing with no flags and installs successfully.

    Hi,
I've tried to install PQ through SCCM it failed. I'm using command: msiexec /i "PowerQuery_2.16.3785.242
    (64-bit) [en-us].msi" /q ACCEPT_EULA=1
This command works when I run cmd as Administrator on local machine (non-domain joined). But when cmd runs as a regular user (this user is local admin) it fails. SCCM tries to run it as local admin.
SCCM gives following error: 0x643 (1603).
Google says that it is related with elevation. Note: Run as Administrator feature blocked on client machines through GPO.
    Could someone help me?

  • Hide the update power query notification

I've recently installed Power Query for Excel 2013 Pro Plus. (not click-to-run)
Power Query has been updated already and now this message is appearing on all the user's computers.
Any ideas as to how I can hide this message using the registry and/or group policy?

There is no way to hide the notification, though I believe the most recent version will annoy you less often than previous ones. When you go to the "About" prompt on the Power Query tab, what version number does it show?

  • Office 365 Excel Power Query Preview Problem Signing In -- Appears Corrupted, Please Repair

The image below shows that Excel "thinks" I'm signed in with an organizational account that has Power BI Preview, yet Power Query from Excel doesn't think I'm signed in and says it's corrupted when I try to sign in.  I was trying to use the
online search to find the odata feed that I have set up for Office 365 Power BI Preview.  So, alternatively, when I go to other data sources and specify the odata feed that is set up properly and available, Microsoft says "access forbidden".
Clearly, account credentials aren't being passed correctly.  I have read other posts on this forum and have verified that I have the latest Power Query Preview, that I only use lower case letters to sign in, that IE cache is clear.  I have repaired,
uninstalled and re-installed Power Query Preview multiple times, with no change in this behavior.
    Any ideas?
    Neil

Zarar, yes, tried that, and much more.
Even though Power BI is supposed to navigate through firewalls, I believe we are having firewall problems.
I need to ask our network people to open up for Microsoft on this one, but there's no good information out there on the sites/IPs required to make Power BI Preview work.
In addition, the complexity that comes with using domain credentials, Microsoft Account (live) credentials, and Organizational credentials (O365) on the same computer at various times of the day complicates matters.
That said, I can take my machine to my home network and get as far as attempting to connect to the odata feed I set up -- except the data source is on a computer with an internal IP and Power Query cannot resolve the local computer name -- i.e. x.x.local.
So now, I have two questions:
    1. What IPs need to be unblocked to make Power BI work?
    2. Is there a way to get the odata feed to work when the datasource is on an internal network (the datasource is working and tests okay from Power BI Admin -- but does not resolve the machine name when coming in through Excel via the odata feed from an off-site
    location

  • Excel 2013 crashes every single time I click on Power Query Tab and try anything

I have Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I installed Office 2013 Professional Plus 64 bit. I dont have any older versions of office. I downloaded and installed power query 64 bit. I start excel, click on power query tab and select any option, excel crashes

Excruciatingly frustrating to have such an unintuitive message. What should I do to get power query working in excel 2013 and most importantly for excel to function ?

    Hi,
It should be the latest version of Power Query. Make sure there is no old version of power Query installed in your computer. And what happens if you reinstall Power Query add-in or repair your office program?
Also Microsoft Power Query for Excel requires Internet Explorer 9 or greater.

  • Power Query for Excel login/connection issue.

    Hi all
I have recently installed Power Query for Microsoft Excel in MS Office 2013.
I can connect successfully to the all the BI Universes, create queries & design reports in Excel.
The problem that I have is that I can only do this with the Administrator account. The Admin account is the only account that can connect successfully to the BI universes.
I have created test user accounts, test groups and assigned security to basically reflect the same rights as the Admin group, but to no avail.
I have also assigned security to these users & groups on the application level (RESTful Web Service, Universes, Connections) , but no luck.
It constantly says : "Access to the Resource is forbidden"
The last thing I want to do is make the users part of the Administrator group. I'm sure you guys would agree that that would be like opening Pandora's Box

    Hi Liang,
Power Query is part of Excel 2016 and can be found under the Data tab.

  • Transforming column content to a hyperlink in Power Query

I've been using a formula in Excel to give me redirect links like this:
    =HYPERLINK(CONCATENATE("http://myurl.com/redirect/","/",A2),Fancy Title)
Is there a way to replicate this in Power Query?
    Thanks,
    Jes

Not directly, no. Once you've run the query, you can manually add a column to the result table in the worksheet of course. But at least for now, the added column would be lost when the data is refreshed.
