Hide the update power query notification

I've recently installed Power Query for Excel 2013 Pro Plus. (not click-to-run)
Power Query has been updated already and now this message is appearing on all the user's computers.
Any ideas as to how I can hide this message using the registry and/or group policy?

There is no way to hide the notification, though I believe the most recent version will annoy you less often than previous ones. When you go to the "About" prompt on the Power Query tab, what version number does it show?

  • How to find out the updates using query which has done in Discoverer Admin

    Hi All,
I have done some updates in Discoverer Admin like add field in some folders and rename...I want to know the updates which has been done in the front end using sql query.
Could any one please tell me is there any query to find out the updates in Discoverer admin.
    Thanks,
    Kamal

    Hi Siddarth,
    Solution :
            1) Go to SE16 - Table Name : EKBE (PO History)
            2) Field - BUDAT (Posting Date)
            3) Transaction event Type:
                             - 1 (Only GR's )
                             - 2 (Both GR and IR)
            4) We can fetch both GR Numbers and also PO Numbers for which IR has not been done if transaction event - 1.
In addition to MB5S, you can try this also...

  • Blank Record Appearing in Power Pivot, How do I ensure that my Power Query script is filtering out all the Blank Records

    Hi,
I noticed once of my Fact tables in my Power Pivot model contains a blank record. I can't understand why.
So I added a Filter expression to the underlying Power Query query, something like; -
    Text.Length("MyField") > 0
However after refreshing the Power Query query which contains the above expression the blank record still appears within my Power Pivot table.
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.

    hi..
As my understand, the blank record in Power Query will be return null value . So that, You try to use Text.Length("MyField" ) <> null.

  • The Power Query ribbon and the Power Pivot ribbon are gone !

    Hello,
I created in Excel 2013, using Power Query, two large tables (more than 4 000 000 rows) according this principle: << However,
the query pane that shows up on the side while data is loading lets you disable "load to worksheet". The data will continue to download. Once the download is done, you can click on "Load to Data Model" which will then get the data into
    the underlying xVelocity/data model.>>
I built two calculated columns in order to create PRimary and Foreign keys for relations.
I saved the xlsx file several times
    I Closed the xlsx file
I reopened the xlsx file but, bad news, the
Power Query ribbon and the Power Pivot ribbon are gone !
I can check the the data connections are still there.
What happened? What did I miss ?
    Thanks for your help
Error message when I refresh connections :

When I restart the computer, Power
    Query and Power
Pivot ribbons come back. But if I enter a
    formula, they go away again.
    What could be the solution?

  • Date and time not showing correct whe imported to Power query

    Hi,
I have an Excel list that I imported to another Excel file via Power query. A few of the imported columns contains date and time, for example 2013-11-09 20:19. When imported to Power query this will show as 41587.84652777778 and only dates/times with zero
hours and minutes will show correctly. When trying to change the data type to Date/Time it returns an error for all cells containing hours and minutes.
I use a Swedish version of Excel that uses a different time format compared to standard excel and also uses a , as a delimiter between date and time compared to the . used as delimiter in standard excel. Don't know if that can explain
    this problem?
    Brgds,
    C

I updated Power query earlier this week, so it should be the latest version. When I created the sample file now the problem appears, so if it is a bug it has not been solved.
You find the sample file on the link below. 4 sheets with some info on the problem, the data, the query result and one sheet with the data and query result as pictures as it shows in my version of Excel, I guess it will look somewhat different when you open
the file due to local date/time settings.
Appreciate feedback on what you find!

  • Can not see new Power Query data sources?

    Hi,
New Power Query can connect to three new data sources: Sybase IQ, Exchange, Dynamics CRM Online
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/whats-new-in-power-bi-ha104149776.aspx
I just installed the latest Power Query and wanted to connect to CRM Online instance. For some reason I can not see these new data sources, what am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!

Hmm... I didn't think we had quite released this version yet. It's possible that that website went live before the link to the new download. There should be a blog entry about this on the "Power BI" blog in the very near future.
At the risk of providing a spoiler :), the CRM Online support is via OData.

  • Power Query; How do I reference a Power Pivot table from a Power Query query

    Hi,
It's pretty awesome how you can define Extract Transform and Load processes within Power Query without having to type in a single line of code. However how do I reference a Power Pivot table from a Power Query query to avoid me repeatedly accessing
the same data source (CSV) file with a view to increasing performance?
We are aware of the reference sub menu option with Power Query. However the new query created by the "reference" option still seems to refresh data from the data source (CSV) rather than just referencing the base query. Is this understanding
correct? There does seem to be a lot of hard disk activity when re-running the new query which is based on a base query rather than a data source.  So we were hoping the new query would just need to reference the base query in memory rather than rescanning
the hard disk. Is there any way to ensure that the reference query just rescans the base query in memory?
    Kind Regards,
    Kieran.
    Kieran Patrick Wood http://www.innovativebusinessintelligence.com http://uk.linkedin.com/in/kieranpatrickwood http://kieranwood.wordpress.com/

    Hi Kieran,
This sounds like something to be suggested for a future release. At the present time, Power Query will always re-run the entire Power Query query when refreshed. The Reference feature is analogous to a SQL view whereby the underlying query is always re-executed
when it's queried, or in this case refreshed. Even something like using the Power Query cache to minimise the amount of data re-read from the disk would be helpful for performance but the cache is only used for the preview data and stored locally.
It would be a good idea to suggest this feature to the Power BI team via the feedback smiley face.

    Michael Amadi

  • Office 365 Excel Power Query Preview Problem Signing In -- Appears Corrupted, Please Repair

The image below shows that Excel "thinks" I'm signed in with an organizational account that has Power BI Preview, yet Power Query from Excel doesn't think I'm signed in and says it's corrupted when I try to sign in.  I was trying to use the
online search to find the odata feed that I have set up for Office 365 Power BI Preview.  So, alternatively, when I go to other data sources and specify the odata feed that is set up properly and available, Microsoft says "access forbidden".
Clearly, account credentials aren't being passed correctly.  I have read other posts on this forum and have verified that I have the latest Power Query Preview, that I only use lower case letters to sign in, that IE cache is clear.  I have repaired,
uninstalled and re-installed Power Query Preview multiple times, with no change in this behavior.
    Any ideas?
    Neil

Zarar, yes, tried that, and much more.
Even though Power BI is supposed to navigate through firewalls, I believe we are having firewall problems.
I need to ask our network people to open up for Microsoft on this one, but there's no good information out there on the sites/IPs required to make Power BI Preview work.
In addition, the complexity that comes with using domain credentials, Microsoft Account (live) credentials, and Organizational credentials (O365) on the same computer at various times of the day complicates matters.
That said, I can take my machine to my home network and get as far as attempting to connect to the odata feed I set up -- except the data source is on a computer with an internal IP and Power Query cannot resolve the local computer name -- i.e. x.x.local.
So now, I have two questions:
    1. What IPs need to be unblocked to make Power BI work?
    2. Is there a way to get the odata feed to work when the datasource is on an internal network (the datasource is working and tests okay from Power BI Admin -- but does not resolve the machine name when coming in through Excel via the odata feed from an off-site
    location

  • Make the update nag go away?

Anyone figure out how to make the app store stop nagging you to update, and better, hide the updates in the app store?  I have no intention of updating to the new iWork until it's a finished product.  I can't find anywhere on apple.com to submit feedback.

Menu > Apple > System Preferences > Software Update > uncheck Auto Update
If people only kept this turned off they would they wouldn't be ambushed by Apple.

  • How to Hide an Update pen on an OAF using customization

    Hi All,
There is a requirement in which we need to hide the Update Pen on one the OAF page for particular record.
So, when i go to "About this page" of the page,
It gives me the Focus Name as "switcher: Update Trasanctional Tax"
so how can i make it rendered as false programmatically.
For other buttons like "Create" button on page level, the focus Name is "flowLayout: (region1)".
So in this case i can make the Create Button as Rendered false by below logic.
    OAFlowLayoutBean oaflowlayoutbean = (OAFlowLayoutBean)oawebbean.findChildRecursive("region1");
    oaflowlayoutbean.setRendered(false);Kindly Advice.

Switcher is like a region. Under which more than one items will be created (generally two). It is used in table region.
For example: A switcher has two items. One with Enabled Update Pencil image. Another with Disabled Update Pencil image.
Based on the requirement we can show either Enabled or Disabled Update Pencil image/icon for each row.
Refer "Task 2: Implement a Delete Switcher" in "Exercise: Delete" unde Tutorila Toolbox.
Coming to your requirement, check what are the items added to switcher in your page. Using row.setAttribute() you can display the item which you want.
