Error LNK2028: unresolved token (0A00001E) "extern "C" long

In a Microsoft Visual studio C++ 2005 CLR forms application the error:'
error LNK2028: unresolved token (0A00001E) "extern "C" long
> __stdcall DAQmxCreateTask(char const * const,unsigned long *)"
can be solved by making two changes in the project properties:
1. Change \properties\linker\input\Additional Dependences\ from
"$(NoInherit);" to "$(NoInherit) NIDAQmx.lib"
2. Change \properties\linker\general\Additional Library Directories\ to
"C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-DAQ\DAQmx ANSI C Dev\lib\msvc".
While the second change may be a clear one to users of non-microsoft products (like myself), the first one is not so clear.

I believe that the .NET API for NI-DAQmx does not install by default unless you have Measurement Studio installed. Run your DAQmx installer in modify mode and made sure the feature .NET Framework 2.0 Languages Support is enabled.
After you install the .NET API, help is available directly in MSDN or through Start>>All Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-DAQ>>NI-DAQmx .NET Framework 2.0 Help. If you want to evaluate whether this approach is a good one for you, I recommend that you look at the topics under NI Measurement Studio Help>>NI Measurement Studio .NET Class Library>>Using the Measurement Studio DAQmx .NET Library, rather than trying to sift through all of the reference (which is located under NI Measurement Studio Help>>NI Measurement Studio .NET Class Library>>Reference>>NationalInstruments.DAQmx.
We do not have examples in C++/CLI, so you will need to look at the C# or VB.NET examples for guidance. I'm not sure if this will be easier for you than using the C API examples. It probably depends on your comfort level with C vs. C# and on whether the rest of your program is more C-like or more .NET-like.

    Could you try to create a CLR command line application and get that to run first ?
    This example here links and runs fine for me (it is a bit messy since I've been experimenting with my own mem leak problems, but it runs fine, you might want to change the select statement though)

  • [need assistance] error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _CVIXMLLoadDocument

    I attempt to load an existing XML file and edit it with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. Once I add the following function, I get the error LNK2019.

    I try to add the files and lib mentioned in the following link, but they do not help.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI/unresolved-external-symbol-MSXML-IXMLxxx/m-p/1127380/highligh...
    How can I fix it? Thanks!
    Here is the code piece. I have only one file in my MSVS project.
    ============================================================
    #include <iostream>
    #include <cvixml.h>
    #include <msxmldom.h>
    #include <cvirte.h> // NI CVI

         return 0;
    Solved!

    Hi,
    The link to the following include path has been added by two ways in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\CVI2013\toolslib\toolbox
    (1) [menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Projects and Solutions -> VC++ Directories -> Include files
    (2) [menu bar, Project -> Configuration Properties -> C/C++ -> General -> Additional Include Directories
    "cvisupp.lib" and "cviwmain.lib" are added to linker input. I cannot find this one in my NI folders "cvirte.dll".
    In my MSVS project, add "cvixml.c" to the Source Files folder and "cvixml.obj" to the Resource Files folder.
    With the above settings, it ends up with the following compilation error.
    If we roll back to the initial code in the beginning of this discussion thread, we probably just miss one lib file or a few which contains CVIWindows XML function tree.

    Hi MrCapybara,
    Since you got this issue when compiling my code which seems that this issue is related to your project, and this forum is to discuss and ask questions about the
    Visual Studio Debugging tools, Visual Studio Profiler tools, and Visual Studio Ultimate IntelliTrace.
    For development issue about C++, I would recommend you post it in C++ forum to get dedicated supports, you could post another thread there.

  • I'm getting this "error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _niFgen_SendSoftwareTrigger@4" when I try to make any CNiFgen object.

    Hi, I have a working project that has a few classes using the NI5411 APIs and now I want to use CNiFgen classes. After adding Core Components(Advanced Analysis, Common) and NI Device Instrument Drivers(NiFgen) from the Measurement Studio Components Wizard. Even when I try to make an object of CNiFgen(CNiFgen cnf I get the following error:

    Error executing link.exe.
    puzzle.exe
    - 2 error(s), 0 warning(s)
    My APIs version is working fine and so are these CNiFgen classes(I have tried then for a dummy project). But, things start getting nasty when I try to integrate them.
    Regards,
    Vaibhav.

    It looks like you have a typical linking error in VC++. Have you made sure that all of the necessary .lib files are properly linked to?
    Also, are you passing any data between your custom classes and the niFGEN classes? These will take different data types unless you have already type cast all of them to work properly together. If they don't share variables, you should be okay.

    Is kinect10.lib listed among the libraries in your project's properties, under Linker | Input | Additional Dependencies?
    If not, that is the likely cause for the errors.

    That was it!  Thank you for the quick response and the clear directions.
    Since I see you're with Microsoft, I'd like to point out this step was missing from the set up instructions that come with the SDK installation.  This guide says to link kinect10.lib by linking
    $(KINECTSDK10_DIR)\lib\x86;  As we saw here, that's not quite the same thing!

    I'm trying to instantiate a Factory object to then get a SchemaValidator from createSchemaValidator in C++.

    SchemaValidator<Element> *mySchemaValidator = myFactory->createSchemaValidator(SchValidatorIdType::SchValCXml, NULL);
    Basically, I can't seem to find the right template argument which is supposed to be of type "Context" but I can't figure it out. I tried using "xmlctx" but that leads to the following compiling error:

    Hi, i'm still newbie with Oracle 10g and VC8. The problem is i found this LNK2019 error when build my project. Here the steps i take when run VC8 for the first time:
    (1). In PROJECT->PROPERTIES->CONFIGURATION PROPERTIES->C/C++->ADDITIONAL INCLUDE, i add the "C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\OCI\include"
    (2). In PROJECT->PROPERTIES->CONFIGURATION PROPERTIES->LINKERS->ADDITIONAL LIBRARY, i add the c:\oracle\product\10.1.0\db_1\OCI\lib\MSVC\vc8 (i've downloaded the OCI for vc8)
    (3). I make new project with 1 cpp page with this code:
    #include <iostream>
    #include <occi.h>
    using namespace oracle::occi;
    using namespace std;
    int main (void)

    I'm not very new to C++, but I'm new to Visual Studio and working with C++ in MS environment. I'm experiencing the same problem using
    Studio 2010 Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
    Version 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 01021-532-2002102-70432
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010
    On a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit OS connecting to a 11gR2 (64) database on the same system
    I've performed the exact steps in this post and I still receive the link error after performing all the steps identified with the exception that I performed them with respect to the 11gR2 libs & I'm using the libs / includes from this database's home.
    I'm sure that I'm missing something trivial, but I'm at a loss to determine what it is. Your assistance in these matters is greatly appreciated.

    SchemaValidator<Element> *mySchemaValidator = myFactory->createSchemaValidator(SchValidatorIdType::SchValCXml, NULL);
    Basically, I can't seem to find the right template argument which is supposed to be of type "Context" but I can't figure it out. I tried using "xmlctx" but that leads to the following compiling error:
    Error     106     error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: class OracleXml::Parser::SchemaValidator<class Element> * __thiscall OracleXml::Tools::Factory<struct xmlctx,class Element>::createSchemaValidator(enum OracleXml::Parser::SchValidatorIdType,struct xmlctx *)" (?createSchemaValidator@?$Factory@Uxmlctx@@VElement@@@Tools@OracleXml@@QAEPAV?$SchemaValidator@VElement@@@Parser@3@W4SchValidatorIdType@53@PAUxmlctx@@@Z) referenced in function _main     TestCppXDK1.obj
    I verified I linked my project to oraxml10.lib.
    Help?
    Thanks!

    I'm not very new to C++, but I'm new to Visual Studio and working with C++ in MS environment. I'm experiencing the same problem using
    Studio 2010 Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
    Version 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 01021-532-2002102-70432
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010

    SDL is not a Microsoft or standard library. You should check with people that know the library, but the errors make it look like you are omitting a .lib file.

  • Ctxload error DRG-11530: token exceeds maximum length

    I downloaded the 11g examples (formerly the companion cd) with the supplied knowledge base (thesauri), unzipped it, installed it, and confirmed that the droldUS.dat file is there. Then I tried to use ctxload to create a default thesaurus, using that file, as per the online documentation. It creates the default thesaurus, but does not load the data, due to the error "DRG-11530: token exceeds maximum length". Apparently one of the terms is too long. But what can I use to edit the file? I tried notepad, but it was too big. I tried wordpad, but it was unreadable. I was able to create a default thesaurus using the much smaller sample thesaurus dr0thsus.txt, so I confirmed that there is nothing wrong with the syntax or privileges. Please see the copy of the run below. Is there a way to edit the droldUS.dat file or a workaround or am I not loading it correctly? Does the .dat file need to be loaded differently than the .txt file?

    Hi Roger,
    Thanks for the response. You are correct. I was confusing the terms thesaurus and knowledge base, which sometimes seem to be used interchangeably or synonymously, but are actually two different things. I read over the various sections of the documentation regarding the supplied knowledge base and supplied thesaurus more carefully and believe I understand now. Apparently, the dr0thsus.txt file that I did ultimately load using ctxload to create a default thesaurus is the supplied thesaurus that is intended to be used to create the default English thesaurus, which supports ctx_thes syn and such. The other droldUS.dat file that I mistakenly tried to load using ctxload is the supplied compiled knowledge base that supports ctx_doc themes and gist and such. In the past I have used ctx_thes.create_thesaurus to create a thesaurus, but using ctxload can also load a thesaurus from a text file with the data in a specified format. Once a thesaurus is loaded using ctxload, it can then be compiled using ctxkbtc to add it to the existing compiled knowledge base. So, the knowledge base is sort of a compilation of thesauri, which is what led to my confusion in terminology. I think I have it all straight in my mind now and hopefully this will help anybody else who searches for the same problem and finds this.
    Thanks,
    Barbara

  • A trappable error (E0434F4D) occurred in an external object

    When launching crystal reports from ASP application following error displayed in the Internet Explorer screen .
    "A trappable error (E0434F4D) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running"
    Our System Configuration :
    Report launched from Internet Explorer 7.0 .
    Web server : Windows 2003 Standard Edition.
    HTTP Status : 500
    Moreover , on resetting the Internet Information Service the report is launching properly .
    The same error message has been recorded in the event viewer log .

    Need more details on the duplication steps?
    How many times is the report run before you have to reset IIS?
    What else is happening?
    If it works for a while this usually means there are open documents not disconnecting or possibly you have run out or licenses. RDC only allows 3 connections then no more users can access the reports until one CAL becomes available.
    You may need to build in Report job caching and wait for the job complete before sending off another report to process.
    RAS is more robust and can handle higher loads than the deprecated RDC which is no longer shipped with CR 2008. You should look at upgrading your WEB app to ASP.NET which has version CR 10 runtime included with .NET or go to the full CR developer version which will give you inProc RAS and can then do RCAPI functionality...
    Thank you
    Don

    Hi,
    When you are logged in to the OS, can you do an "su" to the "scripts" user using this exact password (passwords are case-sensitive) ?
    Also make sure that you have libpam.so located somewhere in $LD_LIBRARY_PATH and that it points to a real file.
    external jobs with credentials use jssu, but I don't think permissions on jssu are the problem here (it should be setuid to root).
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.
