Error loading metadata through parent child method

This is my hierarchy of the outline. I am trying to add level 0 projects (d,e,f....). I need to create a rule file which can add about 100 such projects. Can anyone give me an idea how this can be done. I tried doing this with parent child method and it showed an error - "Member E not found in the database" Well thats what I am trying to load in the database. Based on above hierarchy, can anyone show me a sample structure of how loadfile should be arranged.

Well.. The issue was resolved. The clue was right there in my message - "Unable to find the member !!" This typically happens when you try to do a dataload for a member which does not exist.
I wasn't selecting "Build Only" when locating the load/rule files. Bummer !!

Sorting members using Load Rule Parent Child Method
Hi all,
I have a Product Dimension with around 7 gen's and wanted to sort Gen 3 members under parent (say CommProduct). All these members are initially loaded using Studio and i am trying sort Gen 3 members using a text file / Load Rule (Parent Child Method). I have "Allow Moves" ,"Allow Property Changes" and member sorting: None checked for the load rule. I tried updating the outline using the load rule, however the outline remains unchanged and members sorted by alphabets.
Essbase Version: 11.1.2.3
Current Hierarchy:
Product
CommProduct
A
B
C
D
E
Hierarchy Wanted:
Product
CommProduct
A
C
E
B
D
Dim Build Text File:
Parent,Child,Aggregation
CommProduct,A,+
CommProduct,C,+
CommProduct,E,+
CommProduct,B,~
CommProduct,D,+
Any help would be highly appreciated.
ThanksCan't you create a column where you can specify the desired order and build accordingly. I don't think you can achieve that using a load rule. Allow moves works only if the members are under a different parent. In your case it is the same parent.

Error Loading Metadata while creating KPIs in SSAS
Hi,
i have created a cube for my local database. On opening the cube in the SSAS solution when i clicked on the calculations tab (and subsequently in the other tabs - KPI, Actions etc ) i get an error "error loading metadata: Either the user, DOMAIN\UserName, does not have access to the analysis services, or the database does not exist" in the metadata tab of the calculation window...
I am using SQL Server 2005 SP2 with Windows Server 2003 on a 32-bit machine and currently connected as the admin on the box.
I tried running the sample SSAS solution (SSAS samples from program files ) just to verify if there is some problem in my solution parameters but the error persists.
All my sql server 2005 services are up and running (with the exception of SQL Active Directory helper and SSRS which i dont need!!!)
Any help is appreciated ...
Thanks
Devhi jwelch,
yes the database i have used as the data source in SSAS is deployed on my local database engine and so is adventureworksDW (i am sorry, being new to SSAS, just to confirm if thats what you meant by the database deployment here or are you referring to some separate deployment for the Analysis Service)
I have not defined any roles for the database and i am running the BIDS as a system admin.
Thanks

Error loading metadata for MBO
Hi,
I´ve migrated MAM 3.0 from Mobile 7.0 to 7.1 and I´m facing a strange problem.
I´m testing MAM 3.0 for Handheld version on mobile devices and laptop. When I create a notification in MAM testing in a laptop and synchronize MI Client, it works perfectly, while that, when i create a notification in MAM in a mobile device and sync, i get the error:
"error loading metadata for MBO"
Checking in jscpout, i can see:
Sync.jsp -- sequence 27 -- syncReplyReceived -- error MAM30_010
The scenario is the same for both tests. Has anyone idea to solve it?
Thanks.
BrunoHi,
We´ve solved the issue. We are using MI 7.1 SP08 and after apply the composite notes for SP08, the problem is solved.
Thanks. -

Hi all,
I'm using HFM 11.1.1. While Loading Metadata in HFM client, i'm facing following error message.
"This is a BPMA application. This functionality done through BPMA"
Can anyone give suggestion to resolve this issue.You will not see the phrase "classic" application anywhere in the user interface, though you will see it in the product documentation. "Classic" simply describes an application created using the pre-version 9.3.1 mode where you created an application profile and metadata file using the Win32 interface. This generates either an *.app or *.xml file which you can load directly into the application either through the web or Win32 interface.
"EPMA" is a term introduced with the EPM Architect module in version 9.3.1 (and really improved with the 11.1.1 and 11.1.2 releases) which allows the application to be created in the EPMA web interface only, and also create and manage metadata there as well. The module does allow for an externaly created metadata file to be loaded (*.ads format) but only into the dimension library and not directly into the HFM application. Once the metadata exists in the dimension library, you "deploy" it into the HFM application, and so it is an indirect rather than direct load.
Product functionality allows for a "classic" application to be created and then upgraded/converted to an EPMA application. You can do this if you want to start in "classic mode" or if you want to convert a previously existing application up to EPMA. Once you convert an application to EPMA mode, you cannot convert back to classic mode. You can have a mix of EPMA and classic applications in an environment. The EPMA applications will show up in the application library but the classic ones will not.
You can learn more in the HFM Administrator's Guide, under "Managing Applications", and by also reading Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Architect Administrator’s Guide.

Loading metadata through integration services
Hi, I am trying to load metadata into a BSO cube through integration services. In the log file (Olapisvr), I see that dimensions are being built but it's unable to save the outline in the end. I get these error messages:
EssbaseAPI: You have been logged out by supervisor [CONSOLE], please login again
Analytic Services Error Number 1051021.Failed to save outline
Analytic Services Error Number 1051021.Failed to get information for Database Plan1.
When I try to load smaller number of members, it works fine. Why do you think, I am facing this problem?
Thanks.How long are these metadata builds taking?
It looks like you need to increase your auto timeout settings in AAS/EAS.

Parent child dim build error??
Hi,
I'm loading members using parent child refernce method. My requirement is to load only level 0 members of already existed membesr from the outline.If data file has any new parent ,Essbase should kick out the new parent but should not load to the outline. Do we have any property for this in rule file or anywhere in EAS?
Im using EAS 11.1.1.3To echo Glenn, you could use other approaches to pull dimensionality out of Essbase -- Applied OLAP's Outline Extractor, MaxL's export outline, etc.. get that output into a table, and then write SQL to do the tests. There's nothing in a Load Rule that will do what you want. ODI is fine as well (I am a fan of the tool) but it isn't the only approach and at the end of the day, you will be writing SQL in ODI to do this test.

Parent-Child Apps and Classloading...Wrong load order?
Ah, everyone's favourite two oracle topics slammed into one. I've been using Oracle's parent-child application deployment for some time, to reasonable success in Oracle App Server 9.0.4. Though screwing about with the classloaders in this way usually fills me with dread, the benefits of developing child apps in isolation from the parent are excellent.
In general I have always deployed in the following way:
server.xml
<application name="msip-app" path="../applications/msip-app.ear" parent="default" start="true" />
<application name="msip-services" path="../applications/msip-services.ear" parent="msip-app" start="true" />
default-web-site.xml
<web-app application="msip-app" name="msip-web" load-on-startup="true" root="/msip" />
<web-app application="msip-services" name="msip-services" load-on-startup="true" root="/msip-ws" />
orion-application.xml (parent app)
<library path="./msip-web/WEB-INF/classes" />
<library path="./msip-web/WEB-INF/lib" />
(Note: this generic approach has always worked...)
Now I am trying to upgrade to oc4j 10.1.3.x, and I seem to be trapped in configuration hell. OC4J now appears to load the child application first, which inevitably screws up the classloader for the parent app. Surely this doesn't make any sense, as the parent app is the dependency and should be started first?!
I haven't discovered any way to control the load order for apps in the config files; the only workaround is to set the load-on-startup for the child app to "false". This is fine, until I redeploy through Oracle EM, which switches load-on-startup back to true. Again, there doesn't seem to be any way in deployment to control this parameter!
Why in the heck would oc4j have changed it's load priority for parent child apps? Is there any way to force load order through config? Am I just crazy and no one else has seen this?
Help.Thanks for the reply. Gave that a look, but unfortunately, that link concerns a problem at a lower level than the one I've encountered. A classloading problem alerted me to what I believe is a bigger issue, namely that oc4j appear to be launching my child app before the parent app, and this consistently screws up the initialisation phases for both ear files. This appears to be an explicit decision in the Oracle app loader about which war file (parent or child) to launch first, but for the life of me, I can't find the offending code by decompiling oc4j.
If it turns out that this intentional, surely this must be a mistake? The parent app is the dependency and must be loaded first! or I missing something big... -
Event logging in Parent-Child packages
Hello,
I have a set of Parent-Child SSIS packages. A Parent package invokes a bunch of child packages via "Execute Package Tasks".
I have set up custom event logging (to a SQL table) inside both Parent and Child Packages' Event Handlers (OnPreExecute, OnPostExecute, OnError).
I noticed that when a Child Package raises an event, both the Child Package's event handler and the Parent Package's event handler get fired, thereby creating duplicate event logging entries.
So, as a quick work around, I disabled event handlers in Child packages hoping that the Parent Package's event handlers will catch and log all events nicely. However, when the Parent Package's event handler writes event details to the table, it uses the
Parent Package's System::PackageId, System::PackageGUID and System::PackageName rather than that of the Child Package that originally raised the event!. So, my event log table records all events as if they were raised by the Parent Package!
Is it possible to disbale event bubbling up from Child Packages to the Parent package?
What options do I have to fix this problem?
ThanksI came across this same issue and found a pretty nice workaround.
In brief, I used a Stored Procedure to write the OnError to a Logging table. So when this stored procedure was called I checked if the error was already in the logging table, and if it was then no record would be inserted.
I was already using the logging method 2 detailed here with a few changes.
To the PackageLog table I added a ParemtExecutionID value, which was passed into the child package through a Parent Variable Configuration. So for the OnPreExecute handler, the Parent Package passed NULL for the ParemtExecutionID, but the Child Package passed
in the Variable.
In the ErrorLog table I added a SourceID column, which is the GUID of the task that generated the error. In the Parent/Child Package configuration, the SourceID is the same in both OnError handlers.
So then when the Parent OnError handler calls the stored procedure, it checks if an ErrorLog record exists for the ParentExecutionID and SourceID combination.
Below is the OnError Stored Procedure I used. (Note: In my example only the Child Package has a Queue ID value.)
Create Procedure [dbo].[usp_Integration_Log_Error] (
@Execution_Id UNIQUEIDENTIFIER,
@Queue_Id INTEGER = NULL,
@Source_Name VARCHAR(255),
@Source_Id UNIQUEIDENTIFIER,
@Err_Code INTEGER,
@Err_Message NVARCHAR(MAX)
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE @ErrorCount INTEGER
IF @Queue_Id IS NULL
SELECT
@ErrorCount = Count(*)
FROM
INTEGRATION_ERROR IE
INNER JOIN
INTEGRATION_LOG IL ON IE.EXECUTION_ID = IL.EXECUTION_ID
WHERE
IL.PARENT_EXECUTION_ID = @Execution_Id AND
IE.SOURCE_ID = @Source_Id
IF ISNULL(@ErrorCount,0) = 0
INSERT INTO
INTEGRATION_ERROR (
EXECUTION_ID,
QUEUE_ID,
SOURCE_NAME,
SOURCE_ID,
ERR_CODE,
ERR_MESSAGE
VALUES (
@Execution_Id,
@Queue_Id,
@Source_Name,
@Source_Id,
@Err_Code,
@Err_Message

Implement Parent child Relationship using SSIS
Could you please suggest the best way which should not impact the performance of data loading, to implement parent child relationship using SSIS.
We have a flat file RECON80.dat which need to be loaded into the database into 2 tables.
Parent Table JobMaster and Child Table RECON80 .
In the flat file we have a fields Jobphase which will get inserted in JobMaster table and the remaning details like EIN, DATE etc will get inserted in RECON80 table.
The Parent table JobMaster has JobId as an identity column which is the Pk of the table and it will get inserted into the child table i.e RECON80 JobId as FK of the child tale.
Please suggest the best possible way to achieve it.Hi SubhadipRoy, I think you might need to create a procedure for this task.
Because in SSIS, we cannot directly get the Identity ID.
As my experience, there were serveral ways to do. But all are workaround.
So, My suggestion is.
In SSIS:
1. Create a DataFlow
2. Drag a flat source and load the data from dat file
3. Create a procedure which receive the parameter from your data of each row.
4. Drag a OLEDBCommand to the Panel and Invoke the Procedure also don't forget to pass all your rows to the Procedure in OLEDBCommand control.
5. In Procedure, after insert 1 row you could get the Identity ID throuth SCOPE_IDENTITY()
That's it, hope it works for you even this may not the efficency way.
Althrough, I expect someone can give the best way if there is. -

Load Parent-Child dimension with attributes by rule file
Well, I've cracked my head open while banging against this wall.
Task is plain & simple:
How can I load build dimension from such table, using rule file?
Data
ProductParent ProductChild ProductAttribute
Balls Ball_8 Round
I want to load both product dimension and attribute by single rule file (neither of these dimensions exists in database before load), so I do the following:
1) Set dimension build settings, creating dimension Products (marking it P\C generated, sparse), having an attribute dimension AttributeDim
2) Mark the fields as Parent, Child and AttributeDim of dimension Products
After loading rule file a get three types of errors:
a) "Base member (Balls) association level does not match base dimension association level" -- does this mean that I cannot assign attributes in P\C way?
b) "Record #327 - Can not uniquely identify member by Balls (3335)
Balls Ball_8 Round" -- That's strange, I thought member should be identified by Ball_8 (and this column is unique)
c) "\\Record #418 - Error in association transaction [Ball_8] to [Round] (3362)"
I've read all I could find on topic from this forum, network45 board and going to start my way through metalink3, but maybe some kind soul will rescue me from drowning in information ocean?Hi,
Outline is blank at the start of load and I expect dimensions Product and ProdAttribute to be added.
Generations are unapplicable, since I can't turn this parent-child dimension (it's ragged) into generation one.
And, by the way Integration Services manages to do this somehow, why rule files wouldn't? -
Does essbase studio support Parent/Child build method
Hi,
I am trying to build essbase outline from Essbase studio where my source data is in Parent child format. Dimension hierarchies are not built correctly with this build method.. all members are appearing as siblings... could you please confirm if essbase studio does support Parent Child build method... so that i can try to fix the bugs at source if there are any. Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
PraveenHI John and Glenn,
Thank you very much for your help. I have now built essbase outline with recursive hierarchies.
I have total 11 dimensions and 1 fact table. During the cube schema built, chosen fact table column 'Amount' into measures/measure, 11 hierarchies into hierarchy section... and one dimension as "Account" dim from the 11 dims. The data load is failing with the below error:
Failed to deploy Essbase cube.
Caused by: Failed to load data into database: CurrrASO.
Caused by: Cannot get async process state. Essbase Error(1003007): Data Value [8.23326e+007] Encountered Before All Dimensions Selected, [1] Records Completed
The native sql issued by Studio does not contain the dimension column which is designated as Account dim. I have used custom sql (included one column from each of the 11 dims) but here the data value is also treated as member name and all the records are rejected.

Thanks,
