Error loading starting up itunes

Question

i just bought a SLVR. i downloaded the newest version of itunes (6.0.4.2) and ipod software and isntalled both. When I try to start up itunes i get an error: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". I press "click here" under "To see what data this error report contains, click here" and i get this:
"Error Signature;
AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 6.0.4.2 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 10001040
Reporting details;
This error report includes: information regarding the condition of iTunes when the problem occured; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your digital product ID, which could be used to identify your licesnse; and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer."
Theres more but that is the only important part. So what do I have to do to get itunes to work correctly? Thanks alot.

If you send me a crashlog, I can take a look at it and see if I can figure out what's causing the crash.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
drwtsn32 -i
And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
Prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (want to make sure you send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it to this email address.
in the email:
(1) State the precise version number of itunes that you're using. (go into your "Help > About iTunes" to doublecheck.)
(2) Include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.
(3) Include a detailed description of what you are doing in iTunes when the crash occurs.
