Error-Material Ledger currency were changed in material master creation

Hi all,
Iam trying to create a material master record in IDES database.
When iam entering into accounting 1 tab system is throwing the following error "Material Ledger currency were changed".
Without entering necessary information in the accounting tab i cannot proceed further , so kindly suggest me what is the necessary  setup that i need to do to avoid this error.

Hi,
In the configuration the material ledger might be active in the valuation area.If it is active in the valuation area then the check box in the material master is automatically checked.
If the material ledger is active for a particular valuation area, all materials in the valuation area are valuated using the material ledger.
If you activate the material ledger for a plant, you should also activate it for all the other plants in the company code. This ensures that the accounts in Financial Accounting and Materials Management are reconciled.
You can deactivate this in SPRO-Controlling -General controlling--Multiple valuation approaches-Basic settings-Check material ledger settings.
But be careful about the controlling settings while changing this.

  • Material ledger currency types-manually

    Hi,
    I have a question about material ledger  currency types.
    Does it cause any problem if i have set the currency types manually as different then additional local currencies for company code in FI? I have to set the  currencies manually. Does it have some disadvanteges? Because when i try to do this in configuration system gives a warning:
    "Do not make any changes (SAP entry)
    Message no. SV117
    Diagnosis
    You have changed an entry which, according to the name space definition is managed by SAP.
    System Response
    Your changes may be overwritten at each subsequent upgrade or release change.
    Procedure
    Avoid changing this data. If the change is inavoidable, document it carefully, so that it can be repeated, if necessary, after an upgrade or release change. The best way to do this is to put the data in a change request, which you can export before an upgrade or release change, and import again afterwards."

  • Questions in Material Ledger Currency

    Hey Gurus,
    I am having some problems posting documents with MIGO because Iti gives me the error message C+052 (inconsistency in valuation of material).
    While accessing the tcode CKM9 I see that one of the currencies is inconsistent as you can see in the print.
    Do you know if this is the origin of my error? How can I correct it?

    Just a thought, as a follow-up to Owen's comment above ...
    Before you consider the reversal of production startup, consider the following:
    1)  If it is only one material that causes this problem, then consider reversing all material transactions during the current period, close any and all production orders, purchase orders, etc that use this material, and see if a deletion flag can be set, and then use a new material.  If ML close gives you a problem after reversing all the transactions, see if you can change price determination to 2 and then do ML Close.
    2) See if any of the utilities in Material Ledger Help Desk will be helpful in fixing this error.
    3) Above all, consult SAP FIRST before you run reversal of production startup etc.  They may have a simpler solution.
    Of course, I know you will perform all these in a test environment first before you venture anything in Production Environment, right?

    While running CO88 i get this error. "Perform the planned price change for material ". My material is manage at S and it doesn't have any marked cost. The status is FR and no other status on cost etimate for the article are active. what i shoul do? why if i run the PP order with KO88 i don't have any error?

    If dynamic price change is active in your system the first posting in the new period of this material tries to
    - release a future cost estimate of that period OR
    - change the price to the future price in accounting view
       (if the future price date is reached)
    Unfortunately this dynamic price change does not work in order settlement. Therefore you are asked to perform the price change first by t-code CKME (or CK24).
    If you are using price determination control 3, any price change or release should always be the first transaction in a new period to avoid any inconsistencies.
    The dynamic price release will only release the price with transactions which involve material movement and this is not the case by posting invoices and order settlements.
    if you are in period 12/2009 then a settlement in 12/2009 does not require the release cost estimate of 01/2010.
    But if you are already in 01/2010 therefore settlement in 12/2009 is a posting into the previous period. This will change also data of the current period. Therefore the cost estimate has to be released first.
    Another option, if you don't want to receive this message, would be to change this message from Error to Warning (check note 434752).
    Please follow the following steps:

    =>you set the message type to '-' for error message M8394, that means no message is to be issued.

  • Material ledger Price determination change

    For the FERT materials - we have material ledger active, price determination 2 and price control S setup as of now. We have the standard cost for the group and Moving average is calculated for information purposes - now we want the moving average to be periodic.
    I changed the price determiation from 2 to 3 in ML activation but had no impact.
    My questions are:
    1. Should we do this at the material level - so that moving avg does not get updated for each transaction and instead by period.
    2. what are the steps/tcodes to be taken before and after changing the price determination.  I understand we need to run ckmlcp - but need clarity on all the steps I have to do both from config and master data perspective.
    3. Test script steps

    A+ 1st point. Other decision is when you do MMPV.
    B+ I think its better do MMPV on 01/may before do CKMM,  so in point iii, you close of April. If you do CKMM with MMPV active period April, ML will be active for March and April. Again this is just a personal point of view.
    C+ Well, the procedure is correct,  Keep in mind the following: The system consider in your scenario S2 > S3 as Actual Cost of April the value in the standard at the moment of CKMM, so the flow:
    > CKMM > Release Standard>  At the release, system  create a price diff (UMB), that is part of your actual cost (initial of may). The value is the diff of your previews and new standard.
    In the ML Close of april, UMB of MAY  will be cleared and converted in PRY/PRV. If you want details of this, check Standard Cost Release with ML Active.
    Its important you validate it, because if the system dont select this materials, UMB $$ will be part of your P&L account.
    In the ML close of May, this value will be consider part of the actual of May.
    D+ What will happen if the run (iii) above after point (i ) will the ML revaluation will have impact on the material changes to 3S.
    The ML close of april have impact if you post (GM, IR, Settlement) for this materials on April. If this materials are produced, its common that you do the settlement of its order the 1 or 2nd day of may with posting date of april, but as i toldyou is a common procedure.
    E+ Just thinking, Its a good idea you do the ML close for this materials in April (status set to 70)
    If for any reason your ML close dont select them there are some workaround  eg check this oss 1602599 - Additional selection options for selection
    PS1.  Wish this give you more ideas. This topic is interesting and difficult to explain, because have some `depends on`. Again, i recomend you test in your QAS system!

  • Error message during Base unit change in material master

    Hi
    I am getting error message " Independent requirements are already assigned to the
    material" when doing change in base unit in material master.
    But I do not find any independent requiement for the plant in t code MD04.
    Can anybody help me to get a solution for this?

    I checked in MD63 and don't find any entry. That makes me suprprise why the error shows as an independent requirement entry exists.

    Hi experts,
    I'm trying to activate the material ledger  first time to the plant. Then an error is displaying. The error is
    The value "001" was entered in the field "LFDNR"
    This is not possible  because it is a numeric field  where only numbers may be entered.The length of the field is 000005.
    Enter only numeric vallues in this field.

    6     Define Movement Type Groups of Material Ledger [OMX7]
    7     Assign Movement Type Groups of Material Ledger [OMX0]
    8     Define Material Update Structure [OMX9]
    9     Assign Material Update Structure to a Valuation Area [OMX8]
    10     Activate Actual Cost Component Split [SPRO]
    11     Activate Distribution of Usage Variances [SPRO]
    For OMX1 .. what price determination you are using . Are you using "3" .
    If you already have some other plant active , compare the configurations using transaction CKM9.
    Once all configurations are completed , then only use CKMSTART.

  • Material ledger Tables

    Dear All,
    Issue: Not able to post Good receipt due to the error that material does not exit.
    Background:  we have activated user exit in material master for material type ZROH and assigned a internal number range to it in MMNR. this user exit will append the material group mentioned during master creation in the internal code generated by system.
    example PPMM is the material group and the internal code generated by system is 122222 so when we save the material in mm01 our material code is PPMM122222.
    we are trying to do GR by 501 and now the material ledger function module is truncating PPMM from the material code and its trying to post document with 1222222. which then goes into error that material does not exist.
    Analysis: I have checked in the MARA/MARC the material code is PPMM1222222.  but i guess in some table whcih is relevant for material ledger system has stored internal material number 1222222.
    So I am looking for tables or solution for this isssue

  • Post closing entry in Material Ledger

    During running og Material ledger last night, in CKMLCP, we ran post closing entry before we release the cost through CKME. When I tried to release tcode CKME and CK40N, the system gave error message as below:
    Price changes for material 200001  is not possible
    Message no. C+811
    Diagnosis
    You want to change the price or release planned prices for material 200001 with valuation type  in valuation area 2100. You have, however, already entered actual data or performed a single-level price determination in the period concerned. The status of the material in the period is Quantities and Values Entered.
    Price determination indicator 3 assumes that the standard price remains constant throughout the period, so that all movements can be valuated preliminarily with the same standard price.  Therefore, you can only change the standard price at the beginning of a period (i.e. as long as no actual data was entered).
    System Response
    The system does not allow the price changes or the release of planned prices for this material in this period.
    Procedure for System Administration
    In the future, to automatically release your planned prices upon creation of new actual data you can allow dynamic price release in Customizing for Actual Costing/Material Ledger.
    How I can release my standard cost for period 01.05.2010 to 31.05.2010. Please help

    Hey,
    What you described is the standard system behaviour.
    The price change or release of a cost estimate should always be the
    first transaction in a new period, when Material Ledger is active.
    Once period status = 30, the standard price cannot be release or
    changed. For more details please see note 190707.
    The only possible workarounds are as below:
    - postponing the costing release to next month
    - reversing transactions and usage of note 574930
    - using the option LTPC from note 555176

  • PuP price not changed in Material master

    Hello All experts
    I have one question about the material ledger related transaciton, I have a Material with 2+V (price deter. and price control) setting in Material master data in Accounting 1 TAB. And material ledger is active for this material, the Periodic Unit price is 1 USD in current period and stock is 0.
    One PO posted for this Material for purchase with actual price 100 USD, and 101 movement type with special stock indicator E was used in Goods receipt posting. I think these stock will be treated as valuated sales order stock. But GR posting didn't trigger any PuP price change in Material master. Is that situation normal? Pls kindly help.

    With price control V in activity-based material price determination (indicator2 in the material master), the moving average price is calculated. With price control S, the material is valuated with the standard price and the moving average price is calculated for information purposes.
    In single-/multi-level material price determination(indicator 3 in the material master), the valuation price (standard price) remains unchanged and a periodic unit price is calculated for the closed period.
    This option is only for materials with price control indicator S,and is only recommended if in addition to multiple currencies and/or valuations, you use single-/multi-level material price determination.
    In single-/multi-level material price determination, a periodic unit price is updated for information, but it can only be used for material valuation in the closed period.

    Configuration Points:
    Path: IMG>Controlling>Product Cost Controlling --> Actual costing/Material Ledger
    1. Activate Material Ledger for valuation areas
    2. Assign Currency types to Material Ledger Type
    3. Assign Material Ledger Type to Valuation Area
    4. Configure Dynamic Price Changes
    5. Define Material Update Structure
    6. Assign Material Update Structure to a Valuation Area
    7. Activate Actual Cost Component Split
    8. Activate Actual Costing
    Coming to your Questions 2 and 3. they are required to be created if you want your own Controlling level for transactions that you would like to differentiate in the material ledger, further than the standard system offers. Normally we don't use unless there are some specific business requirements
    Some key points would be:
    ML records all receipts, consumptions and variances for each material.
    ML gives overview for each material of the starting balance, receipts, consumption, variance and ending balance.
    ML calculates the actual cost for each material u2013 finished goods, packaging.
    If a material has BOM, variances of lower levels are rolled up to next higher level up to finished goods, to calculate actual cost for raw material, semi finished & Finished goods in ML as unit price.
    Calculated actual cost at end of month can be used as standard price for next period in the material master.
    SAP MM is on standard price based costing, ML can do monthly average costing.
    Direct settlement of all kind of price differences / exchange rate difference/ to materials at the end of the period.
    Once activated , it is not that easy to deactivate although possible with implications like not having historic data.
    Cannot be used in isolation : All the plants within the company code shall be material ledger active.
    Material Price change is not possible after first transaction in that period.
    Using material ledger, inventory in US plant in Canada will be available in USD and CAD

    Dear Mastan rao,
    Material ledger data is valuation and control data for a material (with a particular valuation type, if applicable) in a plant for a particular posting period. Material ledger data also contains data for movements that are relevant to the valuation of the material. This data is collected in the material ledger as it is entered in the system.
    Use: Material ledger data forms the basis of actual costing and is used to manage valuation prices in multiple currencies and valuations. Consequently, material ledger data supplements the material master record. In addition, material ledger data can refer to materials that are part of sales order stock and project stock.
    Structure: The most important information in material ledger data is:
    Valuation price, inventory quantity, and inventory value in up to three currencies and/or valuations
    Indicator for price determination (as in the material master record)
    Control of the valuation prices (as in the material master record)
    Period status of the material
    Integration: Using material ledger data, the system collects information on material movements (such as goods receipts and invoice receipts) in each period at historical exchange rates. This data is used during material price determination to calculate new valuation prices for the material. Then, the material stock account is reconciled in multiple currencies with the accounts in Financial Accounting.
    If the material ledger is active for a particular plant (and consequently for all materials in that plant), material ledger data is automatically created upon the creation of the material master record or upon production startup. You can see whether the material ledger is active by looking in the accounting view of the material master record.
    As per my experience Implementing material ledger along with upgrade should not have any impact on upgrade activity but it is recommended that u treat these two as two individual project. If you are using some tools like solution manager etc u should ideally create two different projects in Solman. one of them should be of implementation type for material ledger while the other one should be an upgrade project. u can further choose ur raodmap etc accordingly and move ahead.
