Error message connecting to database xa_start (40000) returns -7

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knows what the cause of the following error is:
xa_start (40000) returns -7
We are using a third-party application that connects to a SQL Server 2000 database and we are seeing this error today. I can't seem to find any information about it. I can post the full stack trace from the jdbc logs if necessary.

EricHi. This is an exception from the MS DBMS when running the
extended stored procedure installed for the JDBC driver
you're using. The first suspicion is that your DBMS is
broken in someway regarding XA/global tx management, and
this is not unheard-of, so I would contact MS for it's latest
DBMS and/or DTM patches that would/might relate to this.

has... The best thing is to step back to a simpler environment. Can you try
connecting to DB2 with a simple program like utils.dbping? Please look at our
driver docs for the DB2 driver, because there are several variations in connect
properties depending on the type of DB2 you are connecting to...

Persistent Layer Error Message: ORA-01729 database link name expected

Hi,
I've done a series of loads from DB2 into Oracle, initially importing the database objects from DB2 and Oracle, then creating the mappings, deploying and executing. It all worked and I had no problems. For some reason now whenever I tried to import a new Database Object (table) from the DB2 I enter the password, test it and it successfully connects but then I get the error message on a popup box:

Persistent Layer Error: SQL Exception
Class Name: CacheMediator
Method Name: getSQLResult
Persistent Layer Error Message: ORA-01729 database link name expected
If I create a new location for the same database it works and I can import new objects. The only difference I can think from the initial imports is that I’ve moved the repository from one server to another. Might be the case where some information got corrupted in the metadata.
Has anyone seen this kind of problem before? Can you please help me out with this issue?

I found it.When I look at the db links there is something missing.When I correct it everything works fine.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I have lost the ability to upload files to a website. I have to transfer files from my computer to a web site and I get an error message "connection was reset" and the file will not upload. I try to transfer pictures and I get the same message.

I have to upload a scanned receipt to a website and I get the error message "connection was reset". I have uploaded these receipt for two years and last week I have had to use another browser to complete this operation. I connect to the website and do the report I must do, but I can no longer upload to this site.

Are you using any additional software for the uploading?
Try using Firefox in [[safe mode]] when you upload. There is no need to make changes when you see the option. Disable all plugins whilst in safe mode. Then try the uploads.
You mention [/questions/921993 elsethread] that it is a work site. Have you contacted your IT department. One possibility is that the site is not recognising Firefox 10.
(One temporary workaround and troubleshhooting test would be to install Firefox3.6.27 [http://portableapps.com/news/2012-02-01_-_firefox_portable_3.6.26_released portable] as an additional browser and try that.)

There could be some could be multiple reasons for this.
If you are using an ODBC connection then try to check the DSN. Recreate the same and then try.
If the database is oracle check if native client is installed and try to ping from the native client to check if it responds.
When connecting to Oracle, ensure that the Service name is identical to that used in the <ORA_HOME>/network/admin/tnsnames.ora file on the BusinessObjects XI Release 2 server.
For ODBC databases, ensure that the ODBC DSN is exactly the same in the ODBC Manager as on the BusinessObjects XI Release 2 server.

In the future please only transfer your documents and settings to your new computer. You can then install any needed applications.

Error "no connect to database " after moving group to second node.

I set up ERP2005 SR1 and MSSQL2005 with two nodes MSCS.
I am facing error "no connect to database session terminated mscs" from SAP GUI
after moving group to second node.
Now SPS level and kernel patch level has been not updated yet.
I counld'nt find any sap notes, so any help and suggestion could be appreciated.

solved myself . i was missing set SQL Service Account have Local Admnistrators.

V8.16 returns error message upon opening database.

When opening a database using V8.16 support files and drivers the following error message is returned. "ODBC - Tunnel Error ORA-01456: may not perform insert/delete/update operation inside a READ ONLY transaction.
This error does not occur using V8.15.
What is the cause of this problem?

You don't by any chance have the 'connect in read-only mode' option checked on your DSN do you?

I am getting the following error message while starting the database . I just modified the DB_CACHE_SIZE parameter from 781MB to 781(+500MB) .We are using Oracle 9.2.0.1 in Windows server 2003 . The database starts fine with old parameter value.I searched in Metalink and in Google but no exact solution for this error . Can any body of you help me in this regard.. It is urgent....

Your problem is an OS, not Oracle problem, so it wouldn't help to play around with different init.ora parameters, as long as the basic problem persists. The note addresses W2K, you are on W2003, that may the reason for the different OSD error numbers.

Using DI API, getting error when connecting to database:

The server is 2003. The sqlserver is 2005.
We have a button that calles the DIapi function Connect(). He gets the following error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'N' to data type int.
We then tried to connect into another database in SAP we got the following error:
1).[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'UDOXX_Contract to data type int.
There is a user-defined object called 'UDOXX_Contract', but our Add-On does not use any user-defined data object, so that must be from another add-on. I really dont know anything about these user-defined objects. Anyone have any idea what can be causing this problem, or what i can look at concerning this?

Hi Bill,
I am not sure why it is giving you the error messages and I have never seen these errors before. What you can possibly try is to see what SQL statements it is trying to execute. You can accomplish this with the SQL Profiler.
Are you sure you're connecting correctly? Please post your code for the connection here.

EAS 9.3.1 Error - Cannot connect to database

Hello. I am experiencing a connectivity issue with executing business rules in EAS. I can execute the business rule correctly, at first; however, if I attempt to execute the same rule a second time, the following error message is displayed:
*"You must be connected to a database to execute the rule"*
The inactivity limit is not the issue since I attempt to run the rule back-to-back and receive the error message. This occurs if I execute the same business rule or different business rules.
The issue has only surfaced recently...perhaps a few weeks. Prior to that, I was able to execute multiple rules, one after the next, with no problem.
Can anybody assist me?

They have the same issue as you. I have discovered the same, but helped me to set the database directory manually by command line parameter to my Pictures directory which contains digikam.db
