thank you hatter....repaired drive but problem persists....can you please explain what i am to do with the library or point me in the direction to read what to do?

I’ve got a mid 2009 MacBook Pro. Today, I updated to Yosemite 10.10.1. I also updated Safari to 8.0.2. Now, anytime I open Safari, it immediately quits and give me an error page that says, Safari unexpectedly quit and suggest that I can click on a Reopen button and restart it, but it just does it again.
I read some of the questions and responses here and went to ~/Library/Safari and threw out the webpages.db file and emptied the trash and rebooted.
No luck; same problem.
BTW: Mail works
Any ideas how to get around this?There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked. -

If Windows cannot find then the path you referenced (C:\document and settings\pistolero\mymusic...) then it is gone.
Download and install iTunes again: http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Once iTunes is installed you can download your purchased music again. This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store. Here is the procedure:
Launch iTunes.
Click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
Sign in with your Apple ID, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button. -
I cannot install latest itunes to my Sony notebook which is running on traditional chinese windows 7 64-bit, the error message is something like unrecognized windows package, can any one help me or has similar experience? Thanks.
iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"

Error message - Unable to find proxy server - how can I solve this problem
When I try to enter some sites I get the error message: Unable to find the proxy server, Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that can't be found. This happened suddenly and I'm not sure why or how I can fix it, it doesn't help that most help site are blocked. Im using a Mac 10.5.8 and Firefox 15.
You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

I keep getting the error message "Restore Windows" When I click an icon on the desktop on my Mac Book Pro, it is not reaponding.
While holding down the option key, select "Go>Library" from the Finder. Navigate to the Preferences folder and you'll find "com.apple.finder.plist". Delete that file and restart.

Finder unexpectedly quit! can't seem to find a fix...
"The last time you open finder, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows." message came up and it seem it wont go away, even if i click reopen or don't reopen. The icon on the dock keeps jumping up and down. I created a second user on the same machine and finder is working fine on this user. What should i do???
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
I received a notice to update Firefox, so I did. During installation, I received an error message stating "The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link and can no longer get into firefox at all. What do I do? I even uninstalled it, restarted my computer, and tried reinstalling it, and it still won't work. I'm also receiving a message that firefox.exe has encountered a problem. Please let me know how to proceed. Thank you.

Error Message 8003?? Download won't work!! Help PLEASE!

I have a new iPod nano (2d gen) and tried to download music onto it from the iTunes store. Each time, I am foiled at the downloading cycle with "Error Message 8003--unknown error." The download basically freezes between the store and the computer. What am I doing wrong?? Please help!!

Based on the information that you have provided it looks like during the software update the device was not able to re connect to the Mac which in turn caused the 507 error on your BlackBerry Smartphone. The 507 error basically indicates that there is no OS on the device. This issue can be resolved by reloading the software on your BlackBerry Smartphone. "internal error" message when trying to update to IOS 5?? Help please :(
When i try to update my Iphone 4 to IOS 5, it does it back up etc and then comes up with a message saying there is an internal error.
I have the most recent version of Itunes, have tried re starting my mac, turning my iphone off and on, still the same message.
Can anyone help me please??And that message is exactly what? What system? What update? You need to be a lot more specific and provide more info.

I purchased the Iphone 4s yesterday. Every time I try to download newest version of Itunes I get a windows installer error message. I went to microsoft and downloaded all I could please help
Another Vista Victory!!! Try uninstalling iTunes, then download and install it again. Make sure Vista is up to date.

macbook froze while online. hard shutdown. when it restarted, an error message appeared saying finder shut down unexpectedly containing a message box with a long list of technical jibberish. after clicking OK that it would send an error report to Apple, the same error message box appeared again and again every time OK was clicked. If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode. -
Finder Unexpectedly quit error message when rebuilding desktop in 9
When I try to rebuild the desktop, I am still getting the Finder Unexpectedly Quit error. This is happening with my iMac G3. I'm running OS 9.2.2 and 10.4.3. I followed all the directions in the Apple Help file here:

but it is not rebuilding the desktop at all. Every time I do I get that error message at startup even with extensions off. Is something wrong with my computer?Nevermind. I figured out the solution. I ran Disk First Aid and it showed a lot of catalog problems so I just clicked Repair. When I tried to rebuild the desktop again, it worked. But if anyone else gets this error they can look at this thread.

I have been using Elements 12 without a problem for 9 months. Now when I try to open the program, I get an error message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 quit unexpectedly" and it will not open at all. What can I do to open the program?
Thank you for responding. Nothing actually worked! After reading the posts online, I called Apple. They indicated they have seen problems with some software after their upgrades. The technician was able to fix the problem on my computer remotely, but I have no clue what he did! But, it was definitely related to their recent upgrade to my computer.
